Later that day, Penrose prepared to leave the house. She was dressed as she usually was: coat, knives, boots. All of her students were at the hospital visiting someone who was injured. They needed to talk about something that threatened all of them. The recent hero murder was nothing to scoff at. This wasn’t Japan, if you take down a hero in Singapore, you’re worth remembering. Before Penrose left home, she pulled out her phone to message Mizo, Mei, and the rest. That was one of the things she made mandatory in the classes she taught: At least one way to contact every one of them directly. The easiest way was a group messaging chat.
Below was an address to the police station where an investigation was underway. Only ten minutes later would Penrose be at the area waiting for everyone to arrive. Mizo would arrive shortly after alongside her classmates. She was armored and ready to get to business.
While everyone on earth went about their day, things stirred on the moon. Unseen things. Conscious things.
Living things.
The murderer from yesterday hid away from society, in a building long since abandoned. They were an affront to natural life. Matterbender’s remains coexisted now with that hateful body calling itself human. Perhaps that is the reason as to why nothing could be discovered from the aftermath of the fight. They was nothing that could be discovered.
