Appearance Unlike his muscular krieger brethren, Ollo is dimunitive in comparison to the 5 foot tall towering heights of these elite warriors. Ollo overall bears the most resemblance to an over-sized stodman rabbit. A even whiskered face complement a bright buck-toothed smile with plump furry cheeks to each side. A coat of tawny light grey fur coats his rotund body interspersed with black spots that slowly accumulate into a dark pelt at the bottom of his torso and back-legs with one single white scuttle-butt. His underbelly and pouch are coated with a fine carpet of white. His twitching leaf-shaped ears are lightly burned and cut at the edges from several past kitchen incidents. He is never seen without his usual chef adornment consisting of an over-sized chef's hat and a stained apron.

Age - 24	Voice Rough and burlesque. Far more louder than you would expect for a woodland creature of his size.

History Ollo was born in the Raskaal colony of Havnklippe, located near in the mountainous and rocky steppes of the Org Nation of Uhm. Located on a isolated coastal beach underneath the shadow of limestone bays and quartz-stone headlands, Havnklippe was born of scouting expeditions sanctioned by the Raskaal to colonise other lands without the other races noticing. It was a burgeoning kingdom, all of its inhabitants expecting it one day to rival the majestic Raskaal capital of Loppe. The lord of this mighty keep was Kayzar Fjeld, his line originating from the first instigators of Raskaal civilization. Hewn in the cliff-side from drift-wood and sculpted stone, Havnklippe's docks and ports provided safe harbor for all Raskaal where sea trade and commerce flourished. The seas were flush with trout, eel, skippers and flatfish. The seaside cliffs were ripe for mining and scavenging. It'd kept faith with the local Org colonies that were nearby. Kayzar was intent of securing Havnklippe as the next capital of Raspkallian society and believed it to be the centre and birth of numerous Raskaal colonies where Raskaal wouldn't have to walk across land but venture out into the seas to new promised lands. He commanded the respect and worship of all Raskaal under his leadership. Well, with the exception of one Raskaal. Ollo was born in a one and fifty-member pack of the Krieg Kaste. The Krieg Kaste were the noble warriors who defended Raskaal society from all manner of invader, who were responsible for fending off attacks that would have ended the colony of Havnklippe, for ensuring its survival during the War of Brambles. Each Raskaal of the Krieg could lift a boulder, venture up a mountain and conquer the most mightiest of beasts. Ollo defied those expectations by being the runt of runts when he was born. He was so small and so puny that he could fit within the palm of a stodman. His father, Jeger, was furious about his son's physical condition. Had his brood mate consorted with another Raskaal? Had she become afflicted with a ailment or pestilence of some sort? Was Ollo a curse that the god Ratotaskr had laid upon them? Regardless, he would see fit that his son would become a krieg or die trying. During his childhood, Ollo was relentlessly teased by his brothers, sisters and related brethren for being a fussy eater, refusing to eat a meal until it was cooked in a specific way. Under one of the many limestone caverns of Havnklippe, Ollo frolicked and played with the other children who outsized him by a large margin, building sand-castles and fishing from the outcrops of rock that met the sea. When it came time to prove his worthiness as a Krieg, Ollo went on a hunting trip with his larger brothers in the hopes of proving himself in the eyes of his father. They ventured into one of the mountainous caves, hoping to find a bear but something worse laid in wait for them. It was a pygmy Gegehrun wyvern that had migrated from the west. Jorgamandr the Giant. The great lizard pounced upon their scouting party, bearing a breathe of thunder, claws like guillotines, teeth and scales mightier than the strongest Raskall fortifications. It would be easy prey if it took up arms against a Raskaal Krieg party but a hunting party of initiates? It swallowed his brothers like flies, gutted his sisters like roaches and felled the stones with a single swipe of his tail. Unfortunately, the battle took a toll on it as Ollo waited out the conflict for his opportunity to strike. The gegherun, whilst mighty, had sustained grievous injuries and was lying lame. Ollo readied his crossbow, ready to fire the wick bolt into the pupil of the beast that had felled his brethren and made mincemeat out of his friends. The gegherun was evidently starving, rib-thin frame throttling as its long tongue rolled out to beg. In an act of mercy, Ollo spared the Gegehrun and began to converse with it. Jorgamandr revealed that a nearby Org colony had refused to allow it to feast on the cattle and that it had isolated itself in the caves, waiting to starve, waiting to die, knowing that it would be a danger to everyone if he'd let his instincts take over. Ollo pitied the gegherun and began to taught it how to cook, how to nourish and fed for itself other than preying on deer and other critters such as himself. As a reward, the gegherun allowed it to take one of its teeth. A few months later, Ollo arrived back to the colony with no evidence that he had cowed a gegherun nor any animal pelt or skull to show of his prowess in hunting. No one believed his story. No one would. Everyone believed that Ollo, the Kitchen's Blade, had retreated from the cave before the start of the ambush and had gallivanted off to sate his unusual curiosity for food. An epic tale of bravery and courage couldn’t be completed without evidence of bloodshed. Seeing no other recourse for Ollo's lack of talent in martial combat, Jeger effectively used his sway within the council of Havnklippe to excommunicate Ollo from the Krieg and out of spite, sent him to work in the kitchens of Hevnklippe amongst the Ildstaal. Washing old seaweed, shelling crabs and dicing mushrooms was a useful outlet for his anger until he met Pippin, the old steward of Hevnklippe's kitchens. Pippin took Ollo on as a apprentice, fostering his love for cuisine and outdoor explorations by going with him to trips to the Org colonies during supply runs. Pippin feasted with Ollo and Ollo feasted with Pippin. All was good in the world. For a while. Unfortunately, Pippin was nearing the end of his road, coughing and wheezing eventually leading to Ollo finding his master sleeping peacefully in his bed. Only Ollo and a few other Ildstaad were there for his funeral ceremony. Disillusioned and distraught, Ollo stared outwards at the shimmering seas of the Bue Channel, tide ebbing in and out, looking at the stars. What was his destiny? To rot in Hevnklippe for the rest of his days as a bottom-dwelling cook like Pippin who no one appreciated for his talents? Generations of Raskaal were calling to him at that very moment, the spirit of discovery, adventure, fame and the horizon beckoning his trepidation. The gehregun and the cave were only a taste of what awaited out in the wider world. He could not stay in Hevnklippe. He would not grow old and die here, forgotten. It was a dusky Fehmbday dawn in mid-autumn, the sun slowly awakening from its perch. Ollo wandered across Gemflors for 3 years, travelling across a series of networked dirt roads and pavements connected to each of the nations in an inescapable wanderlust. He stops from tavern to tavern, offering his skills in exchange for fair pay, good work and knowledge, leaving unexpectedly with no warning to continue his journey onwards towards...somewhere. @The Bork LazerI like the raskaal a lot so far! Like you said, they need a little polishing, but I didn't catch anything too incompatible with the world. I like the idea of them being one of the most technologically-advanced races--feels unique. The only place I questioned was the skills--can they climb due to hooked claws? By "supernatural" senses is "highly-refined" intended? Or are their keen senses magically-based? That's it. Also, I now really want to read "The Mouse and the Org," haha.

Yes, to the first one and no, to the second one. Their senses are a mixture of magical and highly-refined due to the events that were involved in their evolution. Some members can taste the type of flour and water that went into bread, some raskaal can hear a fart one kilometer away and etc.

Unbeknownst to many, a vast majority of stodmen bedtime parables featuring sentient rodents such Gerri's Horde and The Mouse and the Org are considered to be factual and accurate historical accountings of prominent individuals in Raskaal anthropology. Whilst the numerous members of Raskaal society all radically differ in terms of physiology, they range from the impish 2'5 foot tall gildeflies and the astronomically large 4'5 foot bulk of the Vakstein. They bear only superficial resemblance to the rodents (referred to as Skitall in Raspkallian) that inhabit the land with a few minor exceptions. They possess the ability to walk bipedally like stodmen and ragdh in spite of their quadrapedally inclined cousins. They are also considerably bigger and larger in size and stature. All raskaal possess a natural pouch on the center of their belly which they use to store items, food or materials.

Raskaal are noted to be a highly furtive and surreptitious race, once taking great care to conceal the existence of their colonies to outsiders. However, due to increasing friction with other races and the great number of wars that have occured in Gemflors, the existence of raskaal is uncommon but widespread knowledge amongst members of every race. Belying their small and diminutive appearance lies a talent for engineering and construction. They are one of the most technologically advanced races on the continent, known for building intricate massive fortifications such as dams along with gadgets constructed entirely out of wood and rock. There are even rumours of Raskaal colonies mastering the power of flight.

Raskall colonies vary in location, consisting of a series of networked communities, although their main preferences are forests, grasslands or rivers. The most famous network of colonies is located within the self-proclaimed nation of Skadyrfelt, a riverland consisting of forests of deciduous gold-wood trees the height of buildings. The main capital of Skadyrfelt is Loppe which is situated in the main river delta consisting of a dam that spans the size of a castle.

Raskaal culture is an evolution of the eusocial instincts of their ancestors, whereby every individual cooperates and works with one another to ensure the survival of the colony due to the belief that they are constantly at risk of invasion from other races due to their very small size. Raskaal society bears the most resemblance to stodmen society with a kaste-based structure, a system of social stratification that divides Raskaal individuals based on their trade and skills. There are numerous kastes, each with their own privileges and rules, but the highest ranked kaste are the Laghern, intellectuals and academics who govern Raskaal society. Favourite raskaal past-times include beetling, leaf gliding and engineering competitions, all of which have their own teams and sport associations.

An average stodmen could punt and kick an average Raskaal as they were nothing more than a pebble. Therefore, Raskaal's have adapted usage of guerilla, ambush and hit-and-run tactics as well as mass-usage of booby traps in response to foreign invaders or anyone that they deem to be a threat to the colony. Armies of mercenaries have tucked tail and ran away due to underestimating the strength of a Raskaal colony.

Raskaal are not picky eaters as well. They are capable of devouring and consuming anything, including their own waste.
