Liam followed his friend to the Pokemon Center before going to the gym.

Kurt suggested that they should go and challenge the gym leader while they wait.

Joy told the boys how to get to Kurt's house. When the boys arrived, the saw that same man who they met in the well. He introduced himself as Kurt. He thanked the boys for their help. He then explained the various Pokeballs he makes and which appicorns he uses to make them. As Token of his appreciation, he gave them each a set of 10 of these balls of their choice. Kurt also offered to make each of them three appicorn balls, and let them go out and pluck the ones they wanted. Liam grabbed some Pink Appicorns to be made into Love Balls. Liam got a set of Fast Balls.

"But what can you do?" Liam inquired. He climbed out of the well with Shinx in hand. He took the Pokemon back to Joy, who relieved. "Should we go see Kurt now?" Liam asked as he turned to Shiranui.

"Well, we will have to worry about that another time." Liam said. "Lets get Shinx back to the Pokemon Center. From there we can go visit Kurt to look into some of his special Pokeballs and then go to the gym."

"'Sacered'?"The Grunt asked. He then began obnoxious laughter. "What kind of moron thinks these stupid Pokemon are 'sacred'? The Rocket sent out a Koffing. Liam sent Cynder out.
"Sludge!" The Grunt commanded.
"Ember!" Liam replied. Both Pokemon were hit with the attacks.
"Now, Smokescreen!" The grunt called.
"Swift!" Liam replied. A Flurry of stars dashed though the smoke to smack the opposing Pokemon.
"Self-Destruct!" The grunt commanded.
"Defense Curl!" Liam called. Cynder quickly wrapped herself up in a ball to shield herself from the explosion, cushioning the attack. The Grunt sent out a Zubat. Liam recalled Cynder and was reaching for Staravia's Pokeball, when the sound of footsteps echoed in the cave. It was Shinx. Shinx jumped out in front of Liam and used Charge. The Grunt's Zubat used Leech Life.Shinx then used Spark and paralyzed the Zubat. The Zubat was unable to move and was finished off with Tackle. The Grunt recalled his Zubat. "You stupid wild Shinx, I thought you learned your lesson back in Union Cave. He readied a Pokeball and tossed it toward Shinx. Liam jumped forward and blocked the Pokeball. The Grunt glared at Liam, You two punks have not heard the last of us. He dropped a smoke ball. Liam had Staravia blow the smoke away, but the Rocket was already gone. Liam turned toward the Shinx. "Thank you Shinx."He said. "But lets get you back to the Pokemon Center, Joy is probably worried about you."

Another grunt appeared and called on an Ekans. "I'll take the Sylveon, such a rare Pokemon will make becoming an Exeec a breeze. Liam called on Butterfree and Cynder. A Flamethrower and Signal Beam combo knocked the Ekans out cold. Liam shoved the Rocket against the wall of the well. "You guys get out of here and leave these Slowpoke alone." The Grunt scoffed. "Like I am going to listen to some snot nosed trainer." Another Grunt got a good look. "Get away from those two you moron!" The Grunt yelled. "They made 1st and 2nd place in the last Indigo League Competition. Many rockets hearing that began to flee for the cave entrance. Liam saw that the man was clear of the entrance. "Sylveon, Moonblast go!" Sylveon fired the powerful Fairy type move and blasted the Grunts out of the cave. Only one grunt, who did not flee remained.
"What is the big idea of you two barging in and messing with our plan?"

The grunt alerted the others and another five grunts came out, each sending out a Ratata. The first grunt called on one as well.
"Sylveon! Moonblast now!" Liam cried calling out his Eeveelotion. Sylveon fired the blast and sent the Rockets and their Ratata airborne. Liam climbed down into the well and found a man hunched down, holding his leg. He said he would be fine and that Team Rocket needed to be stopped.

Liam was about to call on Staravia and Butterfree but stopped when he saw a man in aback uniform with a capital red "R" on the front. Liam pointed him out to Shianui. Liam charged the grunt, who saw him and began to run.

Liam thought about it and realized his friend was right. He knew they should investigate, however he should wait for Shinx to come out of the OR. The light clicked off as Joy pushed Shinx out on the same gurney. She said Shinx will be fine, but it should stay overnight just to be safe. Liam gave a sigh of relief. He gave Shinx another Orren Berry and promised he would be back to check in on it. He turned to Shiranui. "I say we go investigate."
