Liam just had the thought about if Trevor was still in the well looking for that rare Pokemon. Soon enough, they came to the fork, but there was something in the way. It looked like a weird tree, then it began to move.

"Sudowoodo, the Imitation Pokemon. Although it always pretends to be a tree, its composition appears more similar to rock than to vegetation. It hates water, so it will disappear if it starts raining."

The heroes cut though National Park. they were about to reach a fork in the road. the left would take them on to the next town, while a right turn would lead back toward Violet City. Liam asked his friend, after the Pokemon Center, where did he want to go first the gym, the Kimono girls' house or his own place.

'Sure." Liam said. A Trainer stopped them and challenged Liam to a double battle. He said they were each allowed to use three Pokemon. The trainer called out Raichu and Seviper.
Liam calls on Nincada and Cynder.
"Raichu! Use Thunder Wave on the Quilava! Seviper, use Poison Tail on Nincada!" Both attack hit, the later doing only a small amount of damage.
"Nincada! Dig Cynder Defense Curl!" Both Pokemon did as instructed.
"Volt Tackle and Poison Tail on the Quilava!" The trainer called. Both attacks hit, the former critically and activated Blaze. "Now Nincada, attack Raichu, and Quilava use Flamethrower on Seviper! Both attacks hit.
"Raichu, use Iron tail on Nincada, Seviper, use Poison Tail on Quilava!" both moves hit, KO'ing Cynder. Liam recalled her and was about to send out Staravia when he noticed Nincada was glowing. Nincada split into two sources of white light as it finished evolving. There were now two Pokemon sitting there.

"Ninjask, the Ninja Pokemon, and the evolved form of Nincada. Its cry leaves a lasting headache if heard for too long. It moves so quickly that it is almost invisible. It congregates around tree sap.

Shedenja, the Shed Pokemon. A discarded bug shell that came to life. Peering into the crack on its back is said to steal one's spirit. A most peculiar Pokémon that somehow appears when a Nincada evolves. "

"Got to love, two-for's." Liam said with a smile.
"Shedding, use Shadow Sneak,on Seviper, Ninjaask, use Swords Dance." The two Pokemon did as instructed. Seviper was knocked out and replaced with a Pidgeotto.
"Double Shadow Ball on Raichu!" Liam called. The tag move KO'd the electric rodent, leaving only Pidgeotto.
"Steel Wing on Shdenja!" The trainer called. The attack fazed right through Shedenja, much to the trainer's shock. Liam explained that Shedenja has an ability called Wonder Guard, and only super effective moves can pierce it. "Now, Giga Impact!" The physical hyper Beam KO'd the bird, and gave Liam the win. Liam went and healed his team and returned to Shiranui, ready to move on. Still unknown to them, Shinx was following but at to far of a distance for them to notice.

"I wonder if I should find a way to get Haunter to evolve before we go to face Morty." Liam thought.

"So, the next gym is in your hometown, and it is a ghost type gym. So Haunter and Grimm would be risky options. A Dark type would be helpful though.

Whitney was felling better and decided that Liam earned the Plain Badge. It was actually a good strategy to use explosion right in Miltank's face. She put her Pokemon as well as Liam's in the healing machine and came back. She gave Liam his Pokemon back with the badge. Liam thanked her as she took her spot to battle Shiranui.

The duo went to the gym. A Pink haired girl stood there and introduced herself as Whitney, the town's gym leader. The ref went over the usual gym battle jargon, stating that each trainer was permitted to use two Pokemon. She started off with a Jigglypuff. Liam started off with Staravia. Jigglypuff used Attract and infatuated Staravia. The bird managed to get a couple Steel Wings off. Jigglypuff had used Defense Curl during those and went into a Rollout. Jigglypuff got to the fifth Rollout and KO'd Staravia. Liam called on Gastly next. Gustily used Dark Pulse and KO'd Jigglypuff. Lastly began to glow with white light. He evolved into Haunter.
"Haunter, the Gas Pokemon, and the evolved form of Gastly. If you get the feeling that you're being watched in darkness when nobody is around, Haunter is there. It licks with its gaseous tongue to steal the victim's life force."

Whitney sent out her next Pokemon, Miltank.
"Miltank, the Milk Cow Pokemon. Its milk is packed with nutrition, If it is around babies, the milk it produces contains much more nutrition than usual. The milk from a Miltank is the ultimate beverage for the sick or weary."

"Hypnosis!" Liam called. Milbank was put into a deep sleep. Haunter was instructed to use Psychic and hurt Miltank. Milbank woke up and used Defense Curl, covering her eyes and keeping Hypnosis from working. Haunter used Ice Punch and hurt Miltank, Miltank then began to use Rollout. Haunter grabbed it with Psychic and slammed into a wall. Whitney's Miltank used Zen Headbutt and scored a critical hit on Haunter.
"Finish it with a final Zen headset!" Witney called.
"Once Miltank is close, use Explosion!" Liam called.Haunter charged up the move and exploded the instant Miltank was right in front of him. The battle was a draw, and in the event of a draw, the gym leader decides if the trainer receives the badge. Whitney was upset at the lost and began crying. "Get out of my gym you meanie!" she bellowed. Liam left, being stopped by one of her aides, who told him to come back in a few minutes once she has cooled off.
