Thomas used Alakazam, Breloom, and Houndoom to defeat the opposing Muk, Kingler, and Heracross.

Virgil used Glaceon, Leafeon, and Espeon. He didn't lose any of them against the opposing Scyther, Swampert, and Steelix.

Liam's beat Cameron. it was Sherlock, Hydro, and Arcanine against Cameron's Lucario, Hydreigon, and Ferrothorn.

Liam's father was next. His Alakazam and Breloom took out the opposing Flygon and Sudowoodo respectively.

Virgil won using Flareon and Umbreon against a Victribel and Noctowl.

Cameron's Samurot swept the opposing Rapidash and Fearow.

Liam was finally up. his opponent called on a Persian. Croconaw defeated it. The other Trainer called on Magniaum. Liam substituted Croconaw for Arcanine and won.

Trevor was next. His Pidgeot and Gangar defeated the opposing Swellow and Girafarig.

He also made it to the top 32. The announcer said that in the first round each trainer only used 2 Pokemon. In the next round, they used 3, and so on.

Liam felt that maybe Trevor had grown to like him and Shiranui, even if just a bit. Liam turned to Shiranui, "so, are either of your parents coming to watch the tournament?"

liam saw that Trevor finally arrived while he was out doing some training. He came over to Liam and Shiranui. "Losers, did you hear about the guy bragging about becoming the new champ?"

Liam just relaxed these last couple days before the prelims started.
