As the group walked, Liam encountered a Phanphy.
Phanphy, the Long Nose Pokemon. As a sign of affection, it bumps with its snout. However, it is so strong, it may send you flying. It can easily pick up and carry an adult human on its back.
"Ivysaur!" Liam called. Phanphy curled up into a ball with defense curl while Liam called for a Sleep Powder. The blue dust blew into Phanphy's face, putting it to sleep. While it slept ,Ivysuar smacked it with Vine Whip. It hit critically and Phanphy had yet to wake up. Liam threw a Pokeball and caught the Phanphy.

After cutting through the underground path, Liam did some training with Hydro and Sherlock. Allowing both to evolve.

Liam went to the center to heal up his pokemon.
"Nicely played." Liam commented
Liam returned to the center and adjusted his team He was then ready to head to the gym. He found that the building dome roof was multicolored pink and yellow. He saw up there a the likeness of a Dewgong. He entered and found an aquarium like hallway. He entered the main arena and saw a yellow pokemon sitting in a flotation ring in the middle of the pool.
Psyduck, the Duck Pokemon. It has mystical powers but doesn't recall that it has used them. That is why it always looks puzzled. Liam wondered why a water type needs a floaty. As if on request, Psyduck slipped out and began flailing in a panic. As Liam reached for a Pokeball, a Gyarados rose up with Psyduck flailing even though it was no longer submerged. It shortly realized and stopped. A red hair girl, carrying a small blue pokemon came running out and began to chastise the Psyduck, who just looked at her dumbfounded. She sighed and replied. "Its just no use yelling at you is it?"
"Duck?" The Pokemon replied. The girl noticed she had visitors and introduced herself as the gym leader, Misty.
"A Garaydos and Azuril huh? This is my first time seeing an Azuril." Liam said while he pulled out his pokedex to scan these other pokemon.
Gyrados, the Atrocious Pokemon. Rarely seen in the wild. Huge and vicious, it is capable of destroying entire cities in a rage.
Azuril, the Polka Dot Pokemon. A Pokémon that lives by water. It moves quickly on land by bouncing on its big tail. It swings its large, nutrient-filled tail around to fight opponents bigger than itself. Misty said that she would accept the gym matches, with each trainer using two Pokemon. Misty walked over to her trainer's box where a Politoed stood applauding its trainer.
Politoed, the Frog Pokemon.Whenever three or more of these get together, they sing in a loud voice that sounds like bellowing. If Poliwag and Poliwhirl hear its echoing cry, they respond by gathering from far and wide.
Misty called out Staru and Liam called out Sherlock.
Staru, the Starshape Pokemon. Even if its body is torn, it can regenerate as long as the glowing central core remains intact.
"Staru, Tackle!" Misty called.
"Sherlock Psyshock!" Liam called. The Star tried to tackle the pokemon and was smack with a psychic wave.
"Swift!" Misty called. A stream of stars were issued from Staru's gym and smacked Sherlock.
"Psyshock!" Liam called again. The psychic wall struck again, this time critically.
"Signal Beam!" Misty called. This attack hit Sherlock hard, almost KO'ing him.
"Sgerlock, finish this with Energy Ball!" Liam called, The ball of green energy was issued forth and flung Staru into the wall behind Misty and her Politoed. The gem was blinking to signify it being KO'd. Misty praised the Staru for the good job. She called out Corsola and Politoed continued the applauding while chanting its name.
Corsola, the Coral Pokemon. It continuously sheds and grows. The tip of its head is prized as a treasure because of its beauty.They prefer unpolluted southern seas. Their coral branches lose their color and deteriorate in dirty water.
Liam recalled Sherlock for Ivysaur.
"Ivysaur! Sunny Day!" Liam called. The sunlight grew intense.
"Oh, no you don't!" Misty called. "Ice Beam!" Corsola fired the beam of ice at Ivysaur. It was a critical hit and left Ivysaur with a green glow. "Its Overgrow!" Liam said with a smile. "Solarbeam!" the powerful grass attack hit Corsola dead on and KO'd it, earning Liam the Cascade Badge, which was presented to him by a Dewgong who opened its mouth to reveal the badge.
Dewgong, the Sea Lion Pokemon. Its body is covered with a pure white fur. The colder the weather, the more active it becomes. Its streamlined body has little drag in water. The colder the temperature, the friskier it gets.
Liam thanked Misty and the Dewgong for the badge.

Bill informed them that there was going to be a party on a boat in Vermilion City and he was invited but can no longer go. He had a +2 pass and wanted them to go in his stead. He handed the ticket over.
