"Night Slash!" Liam called. Jiriya conjured a katana-like blade and sliced the seed in half, rendering it inert. "Sceptile Leaf Storm and Mega Evolve!" Liam used the Mega Ring and Septle unleashed the storm of leaves. They were only intended as extra flash for the Mega Evolution, making it look like an anime transformation sequence.
"Use Water Shuriken Jiriya, and Sceptile jump and use Bullet Seed!!" Liam called. The Sceptiles leapt into the air right before the fire started and Jiriya and his copies all started throwing the water all over the stage, extinguishing the fire. The seeds rained down on Blaziken, making for a ninja-like move.
"Begin!" Vivian called out.
"Alright guys, use Double Team!" Liam called. Both Pokémon began to dash around the Venasuar or Blaziken and made the illusion of there being several of each of them.

"It's time for the final match of the Grand Festival!" Vivian announced. "One of these two young men will walk away with a trophy and the tile of Top Coordinator!" The audience cheered at Vivian's statement. "Now, without further ado, Let me introduce you two the finalists. In one corner we have, Kalos Champ and Eckeurtek native, Shiranui Tsukiko!" Vivian called. The audience cheered and Vivian continued once they finished. "And From Blackthorn City, 'Dragon Master' Liam Coleman!" After Vivian made her statement, the audience cheered again. Liam readied two balls in his hands.

"Pidgeot! Pikachu!" Liam called. The two appeared and took stances.
"Roserade! Absol! Go!, Drew called.
"Begin!" Vivian called.
"Roserade, Petal Blizzard! Absol, Razor Wind!" The sickle of air carried the petals, making the blade appear pink. "Gust! Pikachu, Agility!" Pikachu began speeding around the stage. Midget's winds carried Pikachu, giving the illusion of Pikachu flying. This allowed Pikachu to avoid the combo move, and Drew's points dropped a bit.
"Sunny Day Absol! Roserade, Solarbeam on Pikachu!" The grass move fired at the mouse and hit him.
"Pidgeot, Mega Evolve! and use Aerial Ace! Pikachu, Thunderbolt on Absol." Midget's form change meant No Guard triggered, eliminating the chance of dodging. Pikachu's Thunderbolt hit Absol, who instinctively tried to dodge, but the lighting veered to hit it, and Absol was paralyzed.

"Pikachu, get on Pidgeot and hold on tight, Corkscrew a Brave Bird Pidgeot! Pikachu, Thunder!" The combo worked due to No Guard, Pikachu let go of Pidgeot during the spiral, and spun in and grabbed Absolves horn and unleashed the Electric attack while Pidgeot crashed into Roserade. Roserade was KO'd, and Drew lost a good deal of points. The timer past the one minute mark.
"Pikachu, Volt Tackle! Pidgeot, Tailwind!" Liam called
"Me First Absol!" Drew called. Absolve charged toward Pikachu and Pidgeot and was engulfed in electricity.
"Amazing! Drew's Absol used Me First to copy Pikachu's Volt Tackle!" Vivian chimed in. Absol charged into Pikachu. Pikachu was hit, and Absol as paralyzed, dropping drew's points further as the clock struck :10. Pidgeot upped the speed of Pikachu and himself as Pikachu charged in to strike. The collision happened on the buzzer. Absol was knocked out and Pikachu fainted from recoil. Liam was named the winner.

"Altaria, Twister! Lopunny, Shadow Ball!" Nando ordered with a strum of his harp. The Shadow Balls were carried by the strong winds as it barreled toward Hydro and Dragonite.
"Hydro Pump and Twister!" The typhoon hit with the Shadow Ball one and they negated one another.
"Use Dragonbreath on Dragonnite. Altria! Lopunny, High Jump Kick on Blastoise."
"Rapid Spin Hydro! Dragonite, Iron Tail!" Liam called. Hydro began spinning in place, causing Lopunny to fumble the move and fall to the floor, dropping Nando's points. Dragonite than slammed the spinning shell with Iron Tail, sending him zooming across the floor. "Now, Ice Beam!" The cold energy blasted through holes on the shell, freezing Altaria's legs, and making it crash to the ground, dropping Nando's points a bit more.
Nando strummed his harp. "Altaria, Sing! and Lopunny, Round." The music notes began to flood the auditorium. "Dragonite! Blizzard!" The harsh winds froze all of the notes in their tracks. "Now, Hydro! Aura Sphere!" The move hit the notes, and shattered them into small notes, all emitting their pitch as they hit the ground, and dropping Nando's points more.
Nando ordered Altaria to use Ice Beam on Dragonite. Hydro shoved Dragonite out of the way. Hydro was frozen solid, and Liam lost a chunk of points.
"Focus Blast and Ice Beam on Dragonite." The moves combined and fell toward Dragonite. Liam smirked. "Hydro! Mega Evolve and use Protect!" Liam called activating the Keystone. The light of Mega Evolution shed through the ice like a prism, and the ice shattered when the Mega Evolution finished. Hydro used the green shield to stop the combo move.
"Aura Sphere and Draco Meteor!" Liam called. The moves worked in unison well, resulting in a Double KO, allowing Liam to advance to the final four.

Soledad's Appeal used Butterfree and earned a score of 39. The computer crunched numbers to see who advanced and it showed them on the jumbotron, adding one's picture at a time, in the order of most to fewest points. That order (only counting named characters) was: Wallace, Shiranui, Liam, Drew and May appeared together since they tied, Soledad, and Nando. The computer shuffled the thirty-two contenders for round 2.

The Coordinators now went on to do the normal appeals, where each judge would score between 1-10. Wallace was first and used Milotic. Nilotic Summoned a Twister and then used Surf, turning the Twister into a typhoon. Nilotic than fired Ice Beam, freezing the Typhoon. It was finished up with Iron Tail in which, Milotic leapt into the air and slammed its tail into the pillar of ice, making a fine powder of ice rain on the stage on Milotic.
A Fine display, I would expect nothing less from a Contest Master.

The next two coordinators were nervous enough going after Wallace, but he got a perfect score. This made them both nervous and had trouble with the appeals getting 21 and 22 as their scores.
"Now, it's time for contestant #4! From Blackthorn City, 'Dragon Master' Liam Coleman!" The crowd cheered loudly for Liam. He came out on stage.
"Alright, Time to show why I'm called a 'Dragon Master'! Goodra! It's time to shine!" The Dragon Pokémon appeared and waved to the crowd. "Now, start with Sunny Day!" A ball of sunlight appeared over the stage.
"Now, Draco Meteor!" a huge chunk of energy formed and eclipsed with the faux sun. It than began to break apart and rain down on Goodra.
"Now, Fire Punch!" Goodra punched each chunk of energy, making a fine powder rain down on the stage, which all shimmered with the sunlight. Liam and Goodra took a bow and the crowd cheered.
"I enjoy seeing the Pokémon from Kalos. You Goodra is fantastic!"
"Dragon types are remarkable!"
"I have never seen a combo like that used to make an eclipse for a faux Sun and a faux Moon."
"With skills like these, I can see why they call you 'Dragon Master'."
"The shimmering powder falling from your combo is nice and warm, like a freshly dry cleaned cardigan."

Drew's Roserade used a Magical Leaf/Petal Dance combo and scored 40 while Harley's Wigglytuff used Shadow Ball, Attract, and Double Slap to score 39. May's Skitty used Ice Beam and Double Slap, earning a score of 40, Making Harley very annoyed. Nando had Krickotot use sing and then used slash to play on them, making them emit their note. Nando played along on his Mew themed harp. (player knowledge: They played the Orange Island's theme, Pokémon World) This earned a score of 38.
