I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

"...There wasssssss money, right?"

-Salbjörg of the Deep

With the rats gathered, and on Sal’s person somehow, she gave the bell of safe return a ring. Maybe it took them all home, maybe it was just her, but that had little to do with what she would do next. She slinked off, weary from being outside for so long, and looked over the items the rats had collected. Maybe the smelly bag would have some coins in it.

Nothing reflective enough to see her own reflection in.

What a bust.

Except…

While Salbjörg had been going through everything in the core room, she could hear something was coming closer. She had been able to defeat the last adventurer easily enough, was everyone else so weak that they managed to let one almost get to the core, despite all the new traps?

She peered down the hall, not especially pleased at the disturbance. Fortunately the hallway terminated at a T section with Zoppy’s shop stuck in a little nook. Much like Rats, Zoppy had proven to have a few uses despite being some malformed green abomination. The dwarf appeared to be distracted, which would make ambushing him all too easy.

With a flick of her fingers, an assortment of poisoned bone needles hovered over her hand and with a flick, they soared down the hallway into the dwarf’s back. Salbjörg didn’t stick around long enough to see what became of the dwarf, and instead retreated back into the core room to finish looking over the haul.

”I wonder.“

— Mac

”Let none of them stay up too late, otherwise they'll wake up quite irate!“

Mac sang along with MDP as they met the enemy forces. Mac’s way of putting people to sleep wasn’t quite as elegant as MDP’s, but seemed to be just as effective. Punch anything hard enough and it’lll crumble apart or fall unconscious. Her tamed bird was able to get some much needed revenge on the enemy forces, picking them up in her beak and swinging them till they stopped screaming.

”Let take care of this blight, our present goal is just in sight!“

”I bet you can’t guess what I’m going to do next!”

— Chloe Irving

”Hmmm…”

For reasons that were only fully understood by Chloe, she was somewhat aware of what the grief seeds were capable of. Manifesting flower people was well beyond what they had the power to do. Thus, this influence had to be the queen’s doing and not Aigorost’s doing. At least, that would have been Chloe’s thoughts had she known what had become of the seeds. She would not learn that bit of information until she used her crystal ball to learn more about the plants, which she was in the process of doing now.

”Looking into that glass ball again, mistress?“ Despite Chloe’s legions effectively having no true emotions, the soulmason at her side sounded awfully bored. She’d have swat him if she thought it would bring her any pleasure or him any displeasure.

”We lost a good number of our own to puppet strings, I’m not going to underestimate this pollen.”

”Fair enough. It would be a shame to waste Nagash’s gifts on such… creatures.“

“Is now a good time to engage in some comedic ecchi shenanigans!?”

“No!”

— Su Fang & Mika Sarraf

“Unbirthday? Does that mean you get younger?” Mika tipped her head. “Do you have to give back your gifts and vomit up the cake too? That doesn’t sound very fun.” But the feline girl quickly forgot about that when she noticed something. “You have a mom too!? Is she married, because if not, we could be sisters if our moms-”

“Hold that thought.” Su crossed her brow. It was hard to get much out of Mariette with so many people around. She could pick up on a few things, but she still didn’t fully understand the situation.

She didn’t bat an eye when the monster was revealed. Something about a hunt was mentioned but none of it really mattered. They had to get by.

It seemed like a trivial thing to do. Mariette should have been able to do so easily with her portals. Time would tell what they had in mind.

"Kiyo would never lie to me. She’s as trustworthy as Willow! Unlike some other people I know."

— Suki Oyama

"Is that so?"

Suki looked at her textbook, or more specifically, where the letter hiding in its pages should be. She’d know who it was in time, but she couldn’t help but try to work out who it could be. It was a hand written note, so Tsubomi was out. Girls usually had really nice handwriting, but that wasn’t the case with her. It didn’t appear to be Kiyo either. The cryptic girl was awfully forward today, which might have been a sign she was hiding something. But nah, Kiyo was usually up to something. That, and Kiyo had made it evident she had enough of Oros a long time ago. It would be too out of the norm for her.

It was a little annoying to talk with the peanut gallery present. If only Kiyo was alone, or they were walking somewhere, then maybe she could talk to her more.

The door to the class room flew open. A heavy set, middle-aged balding man skidded into the room. Despite falling off the ugly tree and hitting every branch on the way down, Suki found Mr Wantanabe to be one of her favorite teachers. They didn’t always get him, but he was one of the few people who made learning math fun. Quite the opposite of Miss Hara, who was easy on the eyes and little else. Suki had nicknamed her sniper because she was acutely aware of what was happening in the classroom at all times. You couldn’t sneak a peak at your phone without Miss Hara catching you. Then you were pulled to the front of the class and humiliated in front of everyone. Mr Wantanabe didn’t need to do that because his classes were interesting enough that you didn’t want to look at your phone.

"Hey kiddos! Who’s ready for some-" He placed his hand on the desk and felt around. "Ah, well, woops!" She shrugged his shoulders. "I forgot the projector. It’ll take me a moment so… Miss Oyama and Miss Kuroki! Just who I was looking for!" He slapped his belly with both hands. "Would you mind helping me set up? I left the projector in class H-2, so if you could just-"

"We’re on it!" Suki saluted her teacher (who reciprocated) before urging Kiyo to get up. "Come on, Aneki! Time’s a wastin!"

Me Wantanabe rubbed the back of his head. "It’s no rush, really!"

Suki tipped her head side to side as she practically danced out the door. Her pigtails swung side to side, an miraculously didn’t get caught in the doorframe as she passed by. What incredible luck! It was as if the world was bending to give her exactly what she wanted.

"Ah, it really is a good day, isn’t it?" Suki’s dumb smile only got stupider as they walked down the halls. There were a few students moving to and fro, but no one that looked like an eavesdropper. "I think I’ve got a secret admirer. I didn’t want to say anything in front of those other girls because I haven’t confirmed it yet." She placed a finger on her chin. "I wonder if it’s Roche or Nyxia. I told Shuuko that I’d be willing to hang with them a few weeks ago, but nothing came of it. I figured they decided against it." Suki pursed her lips. "Not that I’m surprised by that." With a sigh, her smile returned. "But I’m kinda glad, honestly. Roche is too needy. I'm just waiting for her to invite Haruna into her harem, but I know she has too much class for that."

While they walked. Suki noticed a girl that gave her a familiar vibe. It didn’t look like Shuuko, but… Well, it wasn’t, at any rate.

"So uh, how’s the club stuff?"

"A truffle pig in France?" Regina shrugged her shoulders. "If the goal is to prevent anyone from digging, then maybe leaving the magical aspect out of it would be best? I’m one of Misoka’s friends, I’m concerned for her, I’m from out of town. That’s all true and who and what I am magically won’t be an issue if we stick to the facts. It also removes the need to get me into the club, since I’m sure I can work with you without being involved with it directly. But if you want answers, I’m not adverse to providing them."

The red head turned her attention to the classroom. Someone was approaching. Regina hugged Roche’s head against her chest and turned away from the door. As she did so, Misoka stepped outside. As she did so, she was humming a tune with a smile on her face. Not that Roche could actually see her smiling from her position. Her eyes flicked over to the the two girls, and just as quickly darted back ahead. There was a brief pause in her humming, but then she resumed, doing so even louder than before.

"I don’t think she noticed us." Regina released Roche. "Oh, your face is all red. Did I hug you too hard?" She brushed one of her bangs with her finger. "Either way, I can give you answers. I’ll tell you whatever you want to know if you want to help Misoka."

"What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo."

— Black Gate

Michi didn’t even get a chance to say "I see" before Haruna appeared. Once Tsubomi got her shitbag response out of the way and then attempted to back pedal out of it, the goth girl addressed the newly arrived. "Good morning, Haruna. Tsubomi got run over by a mysterious assailant. And by run over, I mean someone ran into her and didn’t stop. She’s a little flustered is all." She folded her arms behind her back before looking at the two girls. "Otherwise, how have your mornings been? I’m quite pleased everyone is enjoying their toys. I’m almost fresh out of servants." She nodded to herself.

It was hard to tell exactly what Finn was doing under so many layers of protective gear, but Norika’s questions caused him to freeze up. After a few seconds of stillness, he spoke.

"I’m teaching!" His excitement came through his outfit easily enough. Though he must have understood that wasn’t going to cut it, because he continued to explain. "Your father is a shrewd man. He was talking to Makoto and I about how much further you’ve come after presenting you with a young tutor. A student from Hibusa high, if memory serves." He held up J-Hat, as if it were himself. "But she’s not available at all hours, so, um, I might have suggested that I could try my hand at tutoring you." He chuckled nervously. "I’m not going to ask you anything about the case, so don’t worry about that. Right now we’re just going to help you learn, okay?" He pointed at himself with both thumbs. "As for the suit? Your mother vaguely mentioned you were sensitive to certain types of allergens, but didn’t mention what any of those were. So I decided not to take any chances!" He figured that answered her questions, and moved on. "So a Linear transformation as it refers to matrices simply means that, after the transformation, all vectors on a plane that were in a straight line, are still in a straight line. Think of a lattice with a nail at the center of each intersection. The nails are the vectors, and the wood that makes up the lattice are the lines. You can’t bend the wood, but you can pivot it across all the nails. You can turn all those little square holes into diamond ones, or even rotate the lattice completely!"

“I wasn’t going to punch anyone.”

“I was.”

— Su Fang & Mika Sarraf

While the mother and daughter team (this one, not the other one) had made a speedy entry, neither Su nor Mika had intended to fight. The cat girl had her arms wrapped around Su’s shoulders and shot Marriette a smile from behind her mother’s head, while the former familiar scanned the room with her eyes. She tapped Mika’s wrist twice, and the girl dropped onto the floor and stood beside her mother.

“There’s a lot of people here!” Mika took in her surroundings, and her tail flicked from side to side. “Is it someone’s birthday?”

Su was a little better at remaining on point. “We didn’t come here to fight. That doesn’t mean we won’t, of course.” She folded her arms. “Why is it that every time we meet, it feels like you’re in deeper trouble than last time?” Her eyes locked onto Mariette.

"Low effort banners are the best, huh?"

— Black Gate

"Better than usual, hmm?" Michi blinked. No more words came out of either girl’s mouth for a time. "Hmmm, it’s unfortunate that Haruna isn’t here. She’s quite easy to talk to." More silence. The other girls, just the girls, continued to stare at the two of them. "I was going to try and meet up with her, but I thought it would be good to talk to other members of the club too. You’ve helped me quite a bit and we haven’t spoken very much. Thanks again." She waved for Tsubomi to walk with her. Many of the girls had departed to go to their classes, but a small group followed behind them. "Oh, I never asked how you got run over. How did that happen? There aren't many cars on the road, or was it a horse?"

"I’m not smiling, you’re smiling!"

— Suki Oyama

So Kiyo was in a good mood too? Hmmm…

Suki listened in to her conversation, but mostly kept to herself as the girl’s friends listened along. She had been injured for some time, so it wasn’t that out of the ordinary for her pain to clear up, was it? Though with Kiyo being so, well, Kiyo most of the time, it was hard to figure out what bothered her from moment to moment. It was just nice that Suki wasn’t the only one in a good mood today.

Of course, Suki wasn’t the only one to notice her mood was better today.

"Am I?"

The smile ran from her face. Suki hadn’t considered herself an open book, but with barely a glance, Kiyo seemed to have the entire thing figured out. Though Suki wasn’t oblivious to the fact that she could have been the person who put the note there. Kiyo’s attendance at the school was spotty, and she wasn’t one to arrive anywhere early, but it wouldn’t have been hard for her to leave a club meeting with Rei and slip a note in Suki’s locker. They had the same classroom, so it wouldn’t have been hard. Regardless, it wasn’t a good idea to talk about it. Because if everyone knew, everyone would want her to read it. Kiyo’s cool exterior would crack, her friends would make fun of both of them, and then Kiyo wouldn’t like Suki anymore. And if Kiyo didn’t like Suki, that would mean that she’d have to work closer with Roche, and that just wasn’t very good at all.

"Ahh, well, I got some good news today." The smile returned. She could not pretend to be chill with something so big resting inside her text book. "Oh, I gotta use the bathroom real quick. I’ll be right back."

Without putting down her textbook, which had the letter inside, she hurried down the hall to find a restroom. She flung the door to one of the stalls open, only to shut it as soon as she was inside. Then she sat down, flung open her text book, and gave the letter a closer look. Had Kiyo done this? It felt a little understated. Even if she was trying to be mysterious, surely she would pick something a little flashier. Maybe a light pink envelope or something with a heart on it. Who could say?

As soon as she pulled out the letter, she noticed something was written on the outside page. With beautiful calligraphy like writing, someone had written "READ IMMEDIATELY." It was a weird message to hide inside an envelope, but Suki’s curiosity was no less piqued now. She opened the letter and scanned the words on the page. Everything was written in the same, beautiful calligraphy style as the outside message.

Suki, my sweet,

I do not know what you will make of this letter. You have a tendency to be hard on yourself and think the worst. However, nothing that I’m going to put here is intended to mock you. This is not a joke, and you shouldn’t try to read between the lines. I’m writing this because I am not yet strong enough to tell you how I feel in person, but I also wish to ease the burden of loneliness that you think you’re carrying.

Suki, we have known each other for a time. I know it isn’t what others would call long, but it’s been long enough for me to see the type of person you are. The club is filled with attractive girls, but none are as uniquely special as you are. I love the way you talk, the way you think, and the way you make me feel. Sometimes I think about how horrible the world is and start to cry. Sometimes, I think this world is hell. But then I remember that you are in it. I cannot possibly be in hell if i’m some place where you are near. That is the opposite of what hell would be to me.

It might be a mistake to tell you this, but I love you. Even now as I write this I want to do things with you. I want to go to plays with you. I want to listen to you read those fairy tales. I want to hear about your observations about those things. I want to lay in your arms and listen to you whisper things into my ear. I want to do so much with you Suki. It’s distracting.

So I’ve decided that I will tell you how I feel today. If I delay much longer, someone else is going to scoop you up. At lunch I’ll be wearing a blue ribbon and using a silver fork instead of chopsticks. I hope you’ll sit across from me.

With Love,
Your Admirerer

If the look on Suki’s face was dumb before, it was really dumb now.

She couldn’t help but laugh. Of course Suki had been tricked by ruses like this in the past, but they were never so carefully constructed. Maybe a text message or a hastily scribbled note, but nothing with this level of class.

Once she returned to her seat and plopped down, she sighed. Her smile was stretching all the way back to her ears.

"Did I miss anything?"

"No?" one of Kiyo’s friends laughed. "Did we?"

"You’ll know before the day is over." The other girls immediately started grinning at each other. "Hey Kiyo." Suki chose to drop the nickname this time. "Have you been practicing your calligraphy by any chance?"

Regina shook her head. "That’s not what I meant. That was a weird day, and the particulars aren’t worth getting into. Point is this has become something far larger than it had a right to, and I’d like to make it right."

Roche pointed out the very obvious problem with Ashbringer joining the club.

"Fair enough." She sighed. "But I don’t think I need to join the club as Ashbringer to make a difference around here. The problem is in the mundane world, so there has to be something I can do to help." She rubbed her chin. "I could be someone you used to know. Maybe pose as an old or current flame of yours if not some distant relative. Maybe both? I don’t know, if you don’t want me walking around as Ashbringer there are still tons of ways we can work together."

Haruna could feel Saundra smile on the other end.

"It ain’t no big thang! Am ah big grill, eye can take da blame if somethin’ goes wrong." She laughed. "Tings are in motion. If ya don’t wanna lie ta da GEMs, I’ll do it. Dis makes it easier fa both of us, yah? Just keep ‘em from blowing up anything elze and nuthin’ ‘ill come of it. Oh, an letz have pancakes again dis week some tiem."

After cheerfully bidding Haruna a wonderful day, she hung up.

But not before Haruna said something in return.

After Norika finished getting prepared, the moment finally arrived.

But something felt off as soon as they arrived. With an exception to Roche, none of her tutors were ever pleased to be teaching her. Their steps were firm and heavy, like they were pissed off before even meeting her. In contrast, this one’s steps were much lighter. The hallway floors barely creaked as they approached, and they knocked on the door to announce their arrival.

"Are you ready for your lessons?"

Boy, that voice sounded familiar. It was a bit muffled though. It didn’t matter, asking for permission before entering her chambers was little more than a formality. She was going to be taking these lessons regardless if she wanted to or not.

The sight that greeted her was a little different than what she expected. While Norika was a sickly child, it was rare for her tutors to be in a complete hazmat-like suit to interact with her. The outfit was bulky and, quite frankly, ridiculous. It was almost impossible to see the eyes of the person inside due to the tinted lenses on the mask, which gave the hazmat suit an almost insect-like appearance. There were a few butterfly insignia here and there, and some English words written on the suit, but none of it meant much to Norika. It looked to be something custom, and clearly wasn’t something the tutor had been given by her parents.

"Today we’re going to learn about Linear transformations and matrices, and get introduced to our friends I-hat and J-hat!" The tutor unstrapped a backpack and placed it on the floor. Then they reached inside and pulled out two sticks. Each stick had a cardboard cutout of a hat on it, each having an I and J on it respectively.

”I wonder if.“

— Mac

”Sounds like a plan, Princess!“

Mac sprung out of the truck and spread her arms. She made airplane noises as she kept pace with their pink haired leader. Or rather, Pink-haired-VIP-that-needed-to-be-protected-from-her-insanity-at-all-costs.

”Gotta sneak that shit.”

— Chloe Irving

”Hmmm…”

With Viper’s fate ultimately being out of her hands, and a new mystery needed investigating, it seemed like a possible thing that was worth looking into. Normally Chloe would not lower herself to the position of rumor investigator, but with the bridge between Lily and herself thoroughly burned, this was perhaps the best use of her time.

”Let’s look into these rumors.” Chloe vaguely remembered the novel having a chapter that featured some talking flowers. She never read it, it was just something she remembered her dorm mate telling her when she was coasting through college.

”If you believe it would forward nagash’s will…“

As it turned out, a group of blood soaked skeletal abominations weren’t exactly the most subtle scout group, but there were enough of them that they could comb Penrose quickly. Something was bound to show up.

“Here we-”

“Goooooooooooo!”

— Su Fang & Mika Sarraf

Su and Mika continued to rush in, totally oblivious to what they were running into.

"A letter?“ *Voice gets squeaky* "For me!?“

— Suki Oyama

The first class passed by quickly enough. For whatever reason, Suki found the teacher’s ramblings about math especially interesting today. You could use pi to figure out the circumference of a circle or its area. Pie. Pie! Pies are round, and pi times the diameter gives you the circumference while multiplying against the radius squared gives you the area. Pies were also round. This was information she would never forget.

What number was pi exactly?

The teacher bowed and left the room, which gave all the other students a moment to tidy up and prepare for the next class. Suki looked over her shoulder at her locker. Japanese lockers were quite a bit different than their American counterparts. They were usually small boxes without doors, and thus couldn’t actually be locked. Because students usually used a single classroom for all of their classes (barring activities like gym) they could be located right inside the classroom itself. So without moving from her seat, she could see that something else was stashed with all of her books.

She stood up and wandered over to her little cube. Sure enough, a white envelope was leaning against the wall of her locker. She pulled it out and examined it, but saw no markings on the outside. It had been sealed, and didn’t weigh enough to contain anything more than a letter. Of course, the delinquent knew of dangerous things much lighter than a letter, so she held it up to a light source. The envelope was thin enough that the light shined through it but the folded up letter inside was illegible. She didn’t see any powder or anything. With her fears assuaged, she gave the letter a sniff. She couldn’t place the fragrance. It was faint yet pleasant, but was most certainly deliberate.

Could this be a love letter?

It probably wasn’t but, you know? On a day like today?

She couldn’t read something like that now. The next class was about to start. She stuck the letter in the back of her textbook and hurried back to her seat. Her heart was beating a little faster than it was moments before, but she couldn’t stop smiling.

Regina, or Ashbringer as she was known in magical girl form, was peering into a classroom. Her arms were folded and her long, crimson hair was swept over her shoulder. She only leaned into the doorway enough that a single eye could peek inside. But Roche’s sudden appearance seemed to startle her. The graduate’s entire body shook before her head snapped over to the newly arrived.

”Long time no see indeed.” She relaxed against the hallway wall. ”I did not come for you, initially. I had intended for our next encounter to be in the spring, as I promised. But the situation has grown complicated.” Regina wasn’t looking at anyone. She had a pensive look, and sighed deeply before she continued. ”Misoka is being harassed by authorities now. I knew she could handle what happened to the flower shop. But this? It’s a step too far, and I need to do something about it.” She turned to face Roche. ”Can we forget about the whole fight thing for the moment? I would like to join the Detention Club and find out what’s really going on with Misoka.”

On her way to school, Haruna got a phone call from a certain pancake loving magical girl.

”Eyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!” Morganite, or rather Saundra’s voice, poured out of the phone. ”I waz talkin to da baws about ya, and I waz able ta get some diplomacy done!” She laughed. ”Ruby is fine with us backing off if ya are willing ta keep us in da loop. Ya just gotta let us call ya Tenacious Tourmaline from now on.” She coughed. ”Iz just a title. Ya can keep on being Hizuki, but da other GEMS wanna feel like one o’ deres is watchin’ da Detention club. We’re already backin’ outa da suburbs.”

Michi, or Black Gate as her magical girl persona was called, walked down the halls of Hibusa high. Her eyes drifted to the students as she walked by. A great deal of them had little plushy charms clipped to their backpacks, and more still probably had some of her servants in their homes. She allowed herself to smile.

Then she heard a girl yelp, and her head popped up. Kiyo was racing down the halls at full speed, and everyone was making room for her. Michi stepped to the side to allow her to pass.

The wake of a boat closes after the ship has cleared it, but the wake of people behind Kiyo had not done so. Instead, perhaps out of curiosity, everyone’s eyes turned to look at the slowest girl in school. Michi was the first to step away from the wall and approached the girl.

"Are you okay?"

As Norika’s morning continued, so too did the usual occurrences, such as the two maids talking just a bit too loudly outside her door.

”I’m so glad I don’t have to enter the room with her today.”

”You say that every time I feed her.”

”It’s no less true.”

”Fair. It's a bother to get all dressed up just for the privilege of giving that ungrateful brat her meal.” She chuckled. ”I’m so tempted to slip her something next time.”

”Hey! Don’t even joke about that! We’d all be out of a job!”

”Relax, I’d never do it. As annoying as she is, her father pays generously.”

”He should ditch his wife. I bet I could produce a son like the one he lost.”

”Now who’s going too far?”

Their voices faded down the hall.

A tutor would be coming in at some time to start teaching, and it wouldn’t be Roche. That was something that Norika had to prepare for.

At least the detectives weren’t coming down the street again to ask her more questions.

Nope. Even Norika wasn’t that unfortunate.

"My favorite part is when I count my money."

-Salbjörg of the Deep

It was very likely that Rosalie had been burned. Without a good excuse, there wouldn’t be much reason to use that particular cover again. At least, not in that specific camp. Salbjörg still wished there was more to find, but really, what she wished to find and what she would actually find were two entirely different things. Could one even expect to find ‘what they wanted’ when they knew so little about the world?

Once Salbjörg had made her escape, she leaned against a tree and slumped over. Her breathing got heavier, then finally her illusionary form broke, which made breathing easier again. Maybe, in her present form, the little bit of information she had managed to scrap together was significant when compared to her ability.

The “possessed cloak” started to fumble its way past Salbjörg’s position. With a sigh, she scooped it up and pulled it into her stomach. She noticed that there was more than just a rat inside, but she would have to explore its contents later. For now, she prepared to depart.

She reached into her pauldron and prepared to give it a ring, but she hesitated.

It might be nice to see if the other rats wish to depart with her.
@Alucroas If certain individuals stop talking for people they have absolutely no business speaking for I don't see this taking very long.

Primarily I want to know who's interested in going on (beyond those who have voiced they'd like to) and how everyone wants to handle things like the rising water level, possible additional artifacts, and how we'll settle disagreements.

And I dunno, maybe some kind of posting rate so that this poor thread doesn't have to see another Christmas.

After that, I'll be able to tell you pretty quickly if I'm going to be sticking around or not.
