► Sully is very much a people person, willing to talk to whoever is willing to listen. He likes to laugh and joke but has no qualms about being someones shoulder to cry on. He is strong willed, verging on stubborn at times, but will always do whatever he can to help his friends. He can become withdrawn when his past is brought up so he tends to not linger on conversations about it too much. As a result he is very much about moving forward in his life and not taking a step back. He can become quite competitive while battling but that is due to the reason why he has become a pokemon trainer.

► Corbin had a difficult life growing up. His father worked very long hours to put what little food he could on the table while his mother did all she could to take care of Corbin and his brother Jonah. The bond the brothers forged through out their early youth is the keystone for the relationship they have. With few friends between them they were each others closest and best friend. Whether it was playing outside or going for walks, the brothers were inseperable.

Their most fond memories of their early life was being sat in front of the TV together watching their favourite trainers battle it out. Both lads dreamt of one day battling each other in front of the viewers at home. It was something they spoke of for years until one unfortunate day changed both their lives.

During Jonah's thirteenth birthday their father gave the brothers tickets for a live trainer battle event at one of the biggest arena's in the Kanto region. Both boys were overcome with joy and smiles were etched on their faces from the second they entered the car until the last battle was done. On the way back from the trip the weather turned bad with heavy rain reducing visibility drastically. Struggling to see, Corbin's father spotted a wild Eevee in the road but with no time to brake he instead swerved. The car span out of control as it lost control on the slick surface before launching over an embankment. It rolled several times down a steep hill before coming to rest with a hard thud against a tree. Sully and his father managed to escape the car relatively unscathed, Corbin only suffering a gash over his left eye. Unfortunately Jonah was worse for wear in the back seat, needing immediate medical attention.

In the months that followed the accident Jonah was in a medically induced coma to allow his body to heal. It was a truly difficult time for the family but Corbin who had been a fairly happy teenager retreated within himself. He visited his brother and his best friend each day with tubes and drips all over his body. It was truly traumatic for him and nightmares plagued his sleep for a full year after the event. Fortunately for the family Jonah eventually pulled through but received the news that he would be bound to a wheelchair. Corbin felt guilt for Jonah's injuries and spent much time blaming himself but his younger brother wasn't going to let that happen. The two shared a heart to heart that involved many tears and a spattering of laughter but what came out of it was a stronger bond shared between the brothers.

The doctors contacted the family six months after Jonah left the hospital and told them about an experimental treatment in Kalos that could help Jonah walk again. The downside was the amount of money required was no where near what their father could earn on his wages. Jonah told his parents it was alright and that they would figure something out. It was during that conversation Corbin stood up and told them all, he was going to start his journey as a trainer and earn enough money to pay for the treatment. Initial resistence by his parents was batted away and eventually subdued by a clear determination and passion to go and do it. With his parents and more importantly Jonah's blessing Corbin set about starting his journey.

The World

^{Kanto is a jewel just waiting to be explored...}


Four decades ago Ash Ketchum the world renowned pokemon trainer called it a day and retired to a far off archipelago from the bright lights and cameras that began to swarm him at the end of his career. The world he left behind has changed somewhat but is for the most part entirely recognisable. Parents are no longer allowed to let their twelve year olds wander off on their own around the region of Kanto meaning the average age of a pokemon trainer has risen to eighteen. In addition to this, pokemon are no longer bound by the regions that they were back when Ash travelled the world. The Oak Institute, named after the late great professor of the same name, has led the way in pokemon conservation efforts for the last twenty years. Now headed by Oak's great grand daughter Arianna Oak, the Institute has seen to breeding programs of pokemon all around the world. This has meant pokemon not native to Kanto are now flourishing alongside the native species.

The infrastructure of the Kanto region is one of the biggest changes. Transport from city to city is quick with roads and train links making travel much easier than previously. Many cities are now directly linked to each other with even Cinnabar Island now being tied to the mainland by a direct bridge over the water to Pallet Town. Pokemarts are still around albeit with much more competition from independent stores and chains. Pokecentres are now all run by the Oak Institute and are able to provide any and all help a pokemon trainer needs.

The RP

Pokemon: Life is an idea I had after taking part in a wonderful RP called SOL City. I honestly suggest you take the time to check it out and to see the world that has been created. The GM's have done a great job and if I can build something half as successful as that I will be happy. I love the Pokemon games and I think the setting would lend itself well to a slice of life setting. The world of Pokemon almost always focusses on the life of the trainers but never the background characters. This RP will allow you to play as one of those characters whether it be a shop owner, pokemon ranger, gym leader or even a trainer if you so wish. Almost anything is acceptable.

I am in this for the long haul and would hope that those who join see this as an opportunity to create something that can last the long term. Ultimately life creeps up on you and bites you in the ass sometimes but as someone who has had that happen to themselves, that's ok. If you need to take some personal time then do so, all I ask is you let me know. You'll always be welcome back.

One thing to be aware of is that the set up of the RP will be made up of chapters. Each chapter will last for a few weeks in the real world but be a single day in game. When a chapter is going to progress everyone will be warned so that they can finish off what they are doing. Occassionally a special event will pop up which may last for longer than a normal chapter. These special events will not be compulsory to take part in but I would hope that people would get themselves involved...prizes await those that do.

The Rules

1. The usual and standard rules of the forum apply. No playing god or taking control of other peoples characters, no being a prick to other people...you know, the usual stuff.

2. This is based on the world of Pokemon so the expectation is for characters to have an anime styled appearance. I am not an avid watcher of all anime, however please avoid using pictures of people from the likes of Pokemon or Dragon Ball. You get the gist, major, well known anime characters. If you struggle to find a picture then you can go here and create your own.

3. The age limit for characters in this is 18+. This is because as a slice of life RP, things will sometimes take a more serious or dark turn. In addition it is to ensure that any budding romances that may occur between characters are totally above board and legal.

4. Try to write to the expected standard of the casual section. I'm not expecting essays but at least one coherent paragraph when interacting with others is expected. When alone then i'd expect to see at least two paragraphs. In addition to this please write in the third person.

5. While characters may not be friendly to each other in game I fully expect people to, at the very least, be civil outside of the game. Anyone breaking this rule will be booted without hesitation.

6. Multiple characters are allowed but I would much prefer one fully fleshed out character over two half-assed characters.

7. I will have missed some rules off because I'm not perfect but as long as you're a decent human being then i'm sure you'll be fine.

8. I just remembered a rule, you are roleplaying as a human. You are not roleplaying as a pokemon or as some sort of weird human pokemon hybrid. While some event's may result in more focus from your pokemons perspective, on the whole you will be playing as your human character.

9. Mega-Evolutions and Z-Moves do not exist in this version of the Pokemon world.

Kanto Directory

Pallet Town

The birthplace of the famous trainer Ash Ketchum, Pallet Town has remained somewhat small since his retirement. While tourism levels are quite high, it is still one of the smallest towns in Kanto.

Oak Institute HQ

Type: Laboratory / Research Centre / Pokemon Sanctuary / Breeding Centre

Description: This is the home of the world famous Oak Institute. Named after the unfortunately deceased Professor Oak, the Institute is responsible for changing the very world. It introduced a breeding program which resulted in pokemon no longer being restricted to certain regions of the world. In addition to this, they were a large part of the downfall of groups such as Team Rocket. Beyond this the HQ is home to the worlds largest pokemon sanctuary. It is run by Professor Arianna Oak, the great grand daughter of the original Professor Oak.

Ash Ketchum Hotel

Type: Hotel

Description: The former home of Ash Ketchum was turned into a hotel when he moved away. Fans of the famous trainer could visit and stay in his old room and also chronicle his journey to become a pokemon master in the newly built museum.

Viridian City

Surrounded by lush forests, Viridian City is a beautiful place to visit. One of the smaller towns of the Kanto region it tends to rely on tourists to generate income. Several large cabins and hotels are built within the forests and make a vast amount of money.

Description: A truly wondrous, almost mystical location. Pokemon of all types run free, greeting those who wander through. There are campsites and log cabins dotted around to forest to allow city folk to get away and enjoy nature at its finest.

Located at the foot of Mount Moon, Pewter City is a climbers dream. This is the place those looking for a more active getaway go.

Description: The largest pokemon museum in Kanto, the Pewter Museum houses fossils and relics of long lost pokemon. Entry is free but tours can be paid for and donations are accepted.

Lavender Town

Lavender Town continues to be home to the Pokemon Tower, a place where dead pokemon are laid to rest. However the town has tried to improve it's rather bleak image by introducing and annual festival in honour of the pokemon intombed in the tower. People travel from all over the world to take part in the Festival of Moon, a week long event filled with parties, live performers and appreciating those friends who have been lost.

Description: A place where people can put the remains of their pokemon. The tower is always completely silent, all visitors expected to keep total silence in respect of the dead.

Celadon City

Do you need to buy something? Celadon City will have it. Consumer capital of Kanto, Celadaon City has a store for whatever you need whenever you need it. The majority of stores are open until the early hours of the morning.

Celadon City Department Store

Type: Shopping Centre

Description: World famous for it's sheer scale, the department store is a one stop shop for almost everything you could ever want. Constant expansions over the years mean it can be seen before any other part of the city.

Celadon Casino

Type: Casino / Arcade

Description: The former Celadaon Game Corner has grown massively in the past forty years. Once several machines lined up against the wall, it is now a massive complex featuring an indoor theme park, the worlds largest arcade machine collection and also the worlds largest casino. This giant complex takes thirty minutes to walk from one side to the other, such is its scale.

Fuschia City

Home to the vast Safari Zone, Fuschia City is a quaint little city. The locals are welcoming and there are plenty of different places to get a good, traditional meal.

Safari Zone

Type: Safari Park

Description: The Safari Zone has expanded to almost three times it's original size. People can still catch pokemon there but the same strict rules are in place that were there forty years ago. It is protected by a group of passionate rangers who have been granted the power to arrest anyone caught poaching.

Saffron City

The biggest city in all of Kanto, Saffron City is shoulder to shoulder throughout all the main streets. People rushing to their offices and traffic stopped to a standstill are all features of this vast city.

Silph Co.

Type: Organisation

Description: The firm responsible for so many great inventions has continued to produce technology for the past forty years. Their new building is one of the tallest in all of Kanto. They continue to produce technology to benefit both humans and pokemon.

Cinnabar Island

Once thought destroyed by its Volcano, Cinnabar Island has been rebuilt into a wonderful tropical paradise.

Cinnabar Mansion

Type: Hotel

Description: One of the surviving bits of architecture, the Mansion was repaired and turned into a four star hotel. It is regularly fully booked through out the entirety of the year. During the month leading up to Halloween the hotel becomes a haunted house providing endless fun for anyone looking for a scare.

Pokemon Lab

Type: Research Laboratory

Description: The Pokemon Lab still stands and has continued to replicate the technology it used to resurrect formerly extinct species of pokemon. They worked with the Oak Institute to successfully reintroduce over ten different types of fossilised pokemon back into nature.

Cinnabar Volcano

Type: Sightseeing Spot

Description: The volcano erupted roughly thirty years ago and it was thought the island would be lost to the sea. Fortunately the way the eruption occured meant that large parts of the island remained undamaged barring a blanketing of ash. Since that eruption the volcano has effectively 'died' with no chance of a further incident for the next few centuries at least. A trail now exists to the peak of the volcano allowing visitors to look down into the now closed crater.

Wave of a Time

Type: Commercial Watersports Venue

Description: A small beach shop is the main front of the business. It sells anything one needs to go swimming, but also sells lessons in surfing, wind gliding, and many forms of sailing.

Pewter City

Type: Rock Types

Description: Once part of the city itself, Pewter City gym has now been built into the side of Mount Moon. It is a mission within itself simply to reach the gym, let alone beat it's leader. The arena that trainers battle in a dirt based floor with large rocks and boulders scattered across the field.

He drops his character when he loses and reveals himself to be a quiet and shy man called David.

After that the battle takes place on a grassy field with several thick oak trees scattered around it.

Description: Recently restored to its previous classical glory, the outside of the Viridian Gym is simple, yet elegant, with a water fountain nestled between curved white stairs and pillars on the raised balcony leading into the gym. Most times, the interior of the gym reflects this theme; smooth tiles and open windows leading to the battlefield in the back. Administration offices upstairs are more utilitarian, though still well-done.

When a challenger comes, however, the gym transforms. A thin layer of ice over the tiles makes the footing treacherous. Cooling machines freeze the air into a low-hanging mist, and the windows are shut. Floor-level lighting makes the mist glow, and various Gym Defenders lurk, ready to disorient and expel any unworthy challengers. Ice pokemon slip through the mist, their Snow Cloak abilities used to appear and disappear in seconds.

The Gym Leader’s battlefield is more of the same. Quilo greets players on a raised platform, the ever-present mist swirling around the battlefield. He usually appears with his sword at his hip and a pale blue coat, cutting the figure of casual nobility. He makes good use of the mist, his pokemon’s attacks thickening it to near-blinding levels. Many of his pokemon use Hail to cause further danger.

If defeated, the overhead lights come on and the mist is allowed to dissipate, leaving the battlefield looking otherwise unremarkable for its type.

Quilo does not live at the gym, though he does tutor his students and schoolchildren here. On occasion, he rents out the front room for community events, like weddings.

Personality: Usually quite composed, Quilo nevertheless has a charming and polite personality that has made him if not popular in Viridian City, certainly respected in the town known as the entrance to the Indigo League. He's quite fond of the local children, and is employed part-time as a tutor at the Viridian Pokémon Academy. His careful, precise manner helps many of the children, though he credits most of the improvements to his calm, patient teaching environment; outdoors on the grass.He adopts a similar attitude to challengers who enter his gym; while his gym attendants gain his mentoring, he will advise and praise challengers while teaching them to trust their Pokémon. He also personally greets challengers, even though he is required to wait for them to make his way through the gym before battling him. He likes mints.

With a world to explore you need a vessel to explore it with, that vessel is going to be your character. Are they a pokemon trainer? A newbie? A veteran? Or are they someone who is in the middle of their journey? They might be a shop owner, a world famous chef, they could even be homeless if that what you wanted. Within reason your character can be whatever you want to be. Ultimately it's up to my discretion but I encourage you to message me if you have an idea that's a bit different. The basic CS is below. If you want to customise it then feel free, but the below stuff needs to be in it.

Apart from creating your character, you can help create a location. This can be a hospital in Lavender Town, a water sports school on Cinnabar Island or even a bar in Pallet Town. The most fleshed out we make the world, the more there is to do and the more there is to see. So in addition to the character sheet, there is also going to be a location sheet. If you want to create a location or expand on a known location then please post this along with your CS or through PM if the RP has started.

The World

Four decades ago Ash Ketchum the world renowned pokemon trainer called it a day and retired to a far off archipelago from the bright lights and cameras that began to swarm him at the end of his career. The world he left behind has changed somewhat but is for the most part entirely recognisable. Parents are no longer allowed to let their twelve year olds wander off on their own around the region of Kanto meaning the average age of a pokemon trainer has risen to eighteen. In addition to this, pokemon are no longer bound by the regions that they were back when Ash travelled the world. The Oak Institute, named after the late great professor of the same name, has led the way in pokemon conservation efforts for the last twenty years. Now headed by Oak's great grand daughter Arianna Oak, the Institute has seen to breeding programs of pokemon all around the world. This has meant pokemon not native to Kanto are now flourishing alongside the native species.

The infrastructure of the Kanto region is one of the biggest changes. Transport from city to city is quick with roads and train links making travel much easier than previously. Many cities are now directly linked to each other with even Cinnabar Island now being tied to the mainland by a direct bridge over the water to Pallet Town. Pokemarts are still around albeit with much more competition from independent stores and chains. Pokecentres are now all run by the Oak Institute and are able to provide any and all help a pokemon trainer needs.

The RP

Pokemon: Life is an idea I had after taking part in a wonderful RP called SOL City. I honestly suggest you take the time to check it out and to see the world that has been created. The GM's have done a great job and if I can build something half as successful as that I will be happy. I love the Pokemon games and I think the setting would lend itself well to a slice of life setting. The world of Pokemon almost always focusses on the life of the trainers but never the background characters. This RP will allow you to play as one of those characters whether it be a shop owner, pokemon ranger, gym leader or even a trainer if you so wish. Almost anything is acceptable.

I am in this for the long haul and would hope that those who join see this as an opportunity to create something that can last the long term. Ultimately life creeps up on you and bites you in the ass sometimes but as someone who has had that happen to themselves, that's ok. If you need to take some personal time then do so, all I ask is you let me know. You'll always be welcome back.

One thing to be aware of is that the set up of the RP will be made up of chapters. Each chapter will last for a few weeks in the real world but be a single day in game. When a chapter is going to progress everyone will be warned so that they can finish off what they are doing. Occassionally a special event will pop up which may last for longer than a normal chapter. These special events will not be compulsory to take part in but I would hope that people would get themselves involved...prizes await those that do.

The Rules

1. The usual and standard rules of the forum apply. No playing god or taking control of other peoples characters, no being a prick to other people...you know, the usual stuff.

2. This is based on the world of Pokemon so the expectation is for characters to have an anime styled appearance. I am not an avid watcher of all anime, however please avoid using pictures of people from the likes of Pokemon or Dragon Ball. You get the gist, major, well known anime characters. If you struggle to find a picture then you can go here and create your own.

3. The age limit for characters in this is 18+. This is because as a slice of life RP, things will sometimes take a more serious or dark turn. In addition it is to ensure that any budding romances that may occur between characters are totally above board and legal.

4. Try to write to the expected standard of the casual section. I'm not expecting essays but at least one coherent paragraph when interacting with others is expected. When alone then i'd expect to see at least two paragraphs. In addition to this please write in the third person.

5. While characters may not be friendly to each other in game I fully expect people to, at the very least, be civil outside of the game. Anyone breaking this rule will be booted without hesitation.

6. Multiple characters are allowed but I would much prefer one fully fleshed out character over two half-assed characters.

7. I will have missed some rules off because I'm not perfect but as long as you're a decent human being then i'm sure you'll be fine.

8. I just remembered a rule, you are roleplaying as a human. You are not roleplaying as a pokemon or as some sort of weird human pokemon hybrid. While some event's may result in more focus from your pokemons perspective, on the whole you will be playing as your human character.
