Look at you posers, having to bang dragons or sell your soul for magic when you could just play a lute for some. Anyways, here's Wonderwall. - Bards
It's similar to a nation he put forth in my NRP some time ago. All I can say is that he'll do you proud ;). Good luck with the RP. Not joining myself but wanted to extend a notification and best wishes :).
Edit: same of others that are in this!
Yes, I've used Ryukyu and its other version Yamatai in all of the NRPs I do. All I'm going to say is holy shit I didn't think that a couple of dice rolls would actually produce a nation I'd keep using XD
Here's my app. Mild Edg3 L0rd warning lol. Tell me if I need to change anything. Also, Aria is my actual girlfriend and we've dicussed this previously and she says its okay. She might be joining herself as well. If you need conformation, you can ask @RomanAria herself.
Physical Appearance: Edoric is tall with an average build, nothing too much to write home. His ears are slightly pointed at their ends which are usually covered by a mess of long sliver hair. The most notable thing about Edoric is something that isn't even his appearance, its his aura. Most people who stand around him notice something... dark. Even without knowing him, his very presence can be described as creepily unnatural.
Attire:
Edoric's standard clothing is a short-sleeved black shirt with downward lines towards the bottom, pointing towards white pants and black army-styled boots, He dons a long light grey jacket with white lines and a fur collar of some beast he refuses to say. Accompanying him is a matching pair of black headphones and a choker, two knives hide in his jacket.
Personality:
Edoric is unpredictable, if not on the edge of insanity. A reckless lone wolf, his speech has more than a bit of snark. However, his recklessness should not be taken as foolishness, he has the capability to still use reason no matter how much he's "enjoying" himself. He also enjoys scaring people and has a small sadistic streak that comes out more when he fights. Blood and gore do not faze him, if anything it frenzies him if anything.
His more sane side has him being more of a indifferent procrastinator who enjoys stalking the internet or (attempting) to be good at video games. When he's "sane", he shows what seems like the ability to care, a rare sight to most.
The best way to judge if he "insane" or "sane" is by his eyes, if they're crimson and seem to glow, its advisable to run like hell away from him.
Weapons & Equipment:
Two knives, "Starset" and "Oracle"; Starset is longer and acts as the hour hand for Edoric's magic. Outside of his knives, he usually is armed with some variation of rifle and pistol. If he's really pissed at something an RPG might get thrown in with a machine gun.
Ability:
-Clocktower Spells - A series of magic spells based on time periods but not the control of time itself, Clocktower Spells is what makes Edoric a cut above his unit even without his natural ablities.
-Strike of One: New Dawn - Edoric instantly refreshes himself, restoring his energy and enthusaism. He often ends up in his "insane" mode from this is he isn't already.
-Strike of Three: Witching Hour - Edoric can create an illusion of a demon lord. It can't actually do any damage but its uncannily realistic and will likely to scare just about anything.
-Strike of Six: Dinner Bell - Edoric can stun nearby targets but can also be used to scan the area with an echolocation-like ability.
-Strike of Seven: Twilight - Edoric summons out a thick black mist. Often used as a get away or panic move.
-Strike of Eight: Prime Time - Edoric creates several blinding, blinking white lights and some form of loud music ranging from orchestra to rock to smooth jazz to recorder.
-Strike of Twelve: Zero Requiem - Edoric slows people's perception of time in a radius, making it seem like he's moving faster than he really is. This is actually a very dangerous spell as the longer he uses it, the slower time goes but it can eventually freeze him in time, he won't be able to die but he can't move and becomes a literal statue, frozen for all of time.
-Showtime - Surprisingly, Edoric is well versed in the preforming arts with acting and magic tricks being the most accomplished. He uses it to both entertain himself and others or distract people or even increase his eerie persona. Also has some degree of mimicry and can disguise himself as other, useful for when he wants to pose as a chief so he can access the cookie jar.
-Matrix Dodge - The ability to dodge otherwise insane things. However, Edoric has yet to full master this skill and while he as more agility and better reflex than the normal person, there's a 50-50 chance he will fail at a dodge.
Brief History:
Edoric had always been a bit... out of it. He spend a good deal in the city after fleeing from another one for attempting to force a goat to do very strenuous yoga. Lurking around much of the city, taking increasingly frequent visits to the Advanced and Nation wards, he landed himself a job as a performer and greeter for many of the new denizens in the Introduction ward for a while before once again wondering the streets, hoping something interesting would soon pop up.
Now, with the virus threatening the total destruction of the city, the crazy professional Asian decided to join S.W.O.R.D. and put on the show of a life time.
Relationships:
Aria "Roman" Astaline - A Deminutian girl who he found during his nomadic walks in the Nation ward, the two have stuck together for a while now and have developed a sort of romantic relationship. She is the only person who Edoric openly shows much care for and worries about her own safety.
S.W.O.R.D. - Seen as a love-hate relationship, while he's liked because of his seemingly unstoppable and often vicious abilities, his recklessness and inability to take orders has caused quite a stir with the higher ups.
F.I.E.L.D. - The only organization which he has a semblance of respect for. Mostly due to they're just as crazy as he is in some cases. He often brings back bits of stuff he finds to the researchers to see if they're either worth selling or are of importance.
Alright, here's my app. I have a feeling I might need balancing since of number of traits I have plus the custom ones I may have put in. I'll pretty it up later. Sorry if I fucked up somewhere along the way or made myself OP by mistake >///>
Major Cities: Torioto - The Imperial Capital, its less of a city than it is a giant castle complex. It has been around since the oldest times, home to the clan which first united the realm. It is home to the famous Amaburi Fortress, told in stories to be invincible to siege. It is where the Imperial family lives and works out of. It is a highly urbanized area with small farms in the wall and alrger farms in the surrounding area.
Shanshui - Major coastal city, its the base of of Ryukyuan mercantile actives like trade and naval construction. The merchant guild has a heavy presence here and if you can't find something here, you won't find it anywhere else. The Shanshui Shipyard is an impressive sight, only dwarfed the the naval school and base.
Daishin Fortress - Once a remote castle, it has become a giant mining and armory complex. With metal dug up daily from the mountain, much of the nation's military equipment is created here. It is often the greatest achievement for a blacksmith to work here as the best smiths in the empire, and arguably Seyan, are located here. Attacking the fortress is a difficult challenge, a daunting task for all but the most ingenious tacticians due to the natural defenses of the cold peaks and the man-made defenses built into the mountains.
Omihara Villige - The largest village in the Empire not because of its size, but the amount of huge farms it has. It is very hard to tell where the village center is as between the farms are grouping of buildings, plus isolate houses and towers spread out.
Emperor Shitatsu Sho (21) Princess Shitatsu Owari (26) Prince Shitatsu Hari (20) Prince Shitatsu Harume (20) Princess Shitatsu Chihan (15) Princess Shitatsu Hanne (6)
Traits:
Honorable folk - In all of history you were known for being most honorable. Your diplomats are one of the most trusted, although that makes all the more.. Sneakier affairs, more difficult.
Wondrous beauty - Your cities are adorned with fountains, gargoyles, churches, cathedrals, chapels, statues. Not to mention the world's wonder in your capital.
Developed infrastructure - Your roads are well-built, your villages have wells, watchtowers, and even walls sometimes. Armies and caravans pass rather quickly through your lands.
Celestial Mandate (Good) - As per traditional belief, it is said that the Emperor's authority comes straight from the heavens. As long as he continues to support and improve the realm, his support amongst the people will only increase.
Knowledge of war - All high-ranked officers and commanders learn from veterans in military institutes. Your strategists are brilliant and can plan elaborate attacks and maneuvers. Many interesting cavalry and infantry formations are known.
Heavy armor (Cannot take with Light armor.) - Your forces are heavily armored, prone to enduring many blows in battle in exchange for mobility.
Good equipment - Many of your soldiers have access to good equipment, which means that they'll fight with better armor and arms. However if you take this trait along with the trait 'Big armies' you get a modifier making less soldiers have the same good armor and weapons.
Good archers - Your archers are extremely good, either at discipline and teamwork or at being good shots.
Trained troops - The troops that you command are highly skilled and disciplined, taught the art of war and all of its' great and important details. The men are hardened warriors with training and are ready for combat.
Massive ships (Can't take with 'Riding the waves' trait) - The ships in your fleet are massive, and can take in more than several hundred men, as well as hundreds of crates. But they're rather slow.
Seaworthy - Don't worry about your entire fleet sinking to meet the god of water himself! Because with the vessels you possess, it's near impossible.
Honorbound - It is a glorious thing to die on the battlefield! The soldiers of Ryukyu are willing to fight to the very bitter end and beyond if it means they can die an honorable death.
Rich with ores - After successful expeditions into your mountains, you've discovered numerous veins of rich ores and still to this day you're making profit from them.
Ancient merchant families - Your merchant families are old, all having haggled with kings and queens of old. Through them you can get access to many other markets and places. The Merchant families and guilds are extremely powerful, almost as powerful as your vassals, or even more.
Armed Caravans - Not just caravans. Very well guarded ones, extraordinarily quick and big. Your merchants won't get robbed by some filthy brigands, and sometimes an army won't stop them, though that's unlikely.
Flaws:
Arguable claims - Several of your vassals have been married to your ancestors, and all have some considerable claims on the throne, putting your dynasty at risk.
Bloodline Dishonor - Something horrible had been once discovered about your family, and it's a sweet juice for rumors to be made by your foes.
Celestial Mandate (Bad) - As per traditional belief, it is said that the Emperor's authority comes straight from the heavens. Should he fail to do the nation constant good and see to the improvement of the realm, the people may take it as a sign of the heavens turning their backs to the Emperor.
Real men don't need shields - The Ryukyuan military lacks shields, not because they cannot make them, but more that its seemed more cowardly which no real soldier would do.
The few, the elite - While the Ryukyuan army is strong, it lacks the numbers to make it dominant. Although on a man-to-man basis Ryukyu might be stronger, a soldier can only hold off so many enemies and take so many wounds before he falls.
Too high standards - The Ryukyuan army is famous for its incredibly effective arms and armor, but its not like it grows on trees. Army supply lines, while guarded, take longer to reinforce its armies not because it can't traverse roads but because they have to wait for the equipment to be produced as all of it is held to very high standards.
Inefficient trade bureaucracy - The ruling Ryukyuan merchant guild has a rather inefficient way of running trade in the realm. While profitable, they refuse to change their ways even butting heads against the Emperor himself on the issue.
Demographics:
Largely human with elves being a common sight. Dwarves and orc minorities are a rare sight.
Culture:
Ryukyuan culture is marked by strict adherence to the ideas of honor, order and respect. Punishment for crimes is especially high, death is the usual punishment for criminals unless one has enough money or power otherwise. Another major that outsiders will note is a lack of... "modesty". Contradicting Ryukyu's strict code of conduct, promiscuity is more lax and free definition on it especially in the lower classes. The conduct comes from the time of infighting which fabric was hard to come (outside of the very expensive silk), thus many got used to wear little to conserve whatever tiny amounts of cloth they had. Outsiders might feel a little more than awkward in the villages.
Resepct is embetted in all social classes, although variation are present. While many Ryukyuans are respectful to outsiders, take care to note the more conservative, zealous kind who want the Empire to isolate itself once more.
Royal | v Generals & Officers | v Distinguished Soldiers | v Nobles/Soldiers | v Priests | v Skilled Artisans | v Commoners/Peasants | v Criminals
Military:
The Ryuyuan army is the pride of the nation, composed of entirely warrior class citizens, they are trade from birth to live, fight and die on the battlefield. With such incredible skills, the fine weapons and strong iron armor they carry only increase their deadliness. A strong history of almost constant internal wars prior to the unification of the realm has created brave yet skilled families of warriors; the old recount their exploits and tactics as the weak learn from them as to surpass their elders. Stories of brave heroes and epic battles are told to children of all ages and every soldier want to be remembered in a national epic or even be graced by the Emperor's personal gratitude.
However, as times are changing, it seems the elite army of the Celestial Empire won't be able to hold out against the hordes of enemies that might crash upon its borders. There as been talk of a controversial move of accepting common folk into the army. Despite heated debates on both sides, the Emperor has remained neutral but the reality is that he will have to choose, and his choice will alter his realm forever.
Navy:
Their is a very unique ideal within Ryukyu about the navy; a warship should not be a boat with soldiers and sailors, it has to be able to accommodate for all of that. And if you're going to build a boat big enough to house all of that, you might as well build a floating castle!
While not an actual castle, the ships of Ryukyu are an impressive sight to see. While they started out smaller, like a giant wooden crate on a boat, they've evolved into an epic feat of military naval construction, sturdy enough to brave any wave or enemy. Even the smallest of ships have at least several dozen sailors and warriors on board.
Castles:
Ryukyuan architecture cannot be spoken about without mention to the unique castle design. Many castles have at least one tier of terraces around the castle, with larger, more important ones boasting larger, more complex Terrance that are the envy of many. It can be said that castles are the true settlers of cities as many cities started out as castle that have had town build on the terraces.
Economy: (describe the industry and trade relations of your kingdom)
While Ryukyu is no bread basket, it provides its people with enough rice and grain, supported by good fishing off the coast, to keep them fed (for the most part). One of the greatest blessing Ryukyu has though is its mountains. Known since the olden times, they've recently been exploited to their greatest potential, the mines pumping out all sorts of useful metals and ores like copper, tin, coal but most importantly: iron.
Although they also produce consumer goods like tea, fabrics and various decorative ornaments, caravans are not often seen coming out of Ryukyu. The old grandmasters of the Ryukyuan Trade Company uses a system of voting to insure that no infighting breaks out. However, their long, drawn out debates on everything from what to send and the prices to what color the damn horse is means that merchants are often stuck in limbo for long periods of time. Noting the rarity of the caravans, the Emperor sends small detachments of troops to make sure the cargo gets to its destiantion safely and he can still earn money from it.
History & Reputation:
For much of its history, Ryukyu was known as a place of constant infighting between local tribes over petty land claims and foolish reasons. When the first Emperor cleverly untied the land under a single banner, through conquest, diplomatic guile and royal marriages, he was seen as a local hero, not that others cared all too much. Little was often heard about the kingdom then as the land isolated itself from the world. Again, Ryukyu was mostly seen as an unremarkable place with the occasional trader or rare diplomat venturing forth into the lands.
However, the then small domain of Ryukyu suddenly burst into relevance when they quickly conqured neighboring lands and marrying into others. Tales of the Ryukyuan warriors from bystanders and enemy soldiers spread news throughout the land and established the army as a legendary figure of Ryukyu. It seems like all of that former infighting and bandit hunting did something to their troops. It almost seemed like they would attack other nations with their legendary army and new vassals but with the sudden death of its Emperor, the nation once more became a hermit kingdom.
Now, with the new Emperor Shiatsu Sho claiming the throne, he has slowly let the celestial flower bloom, encouraging trade and diplomacy. The Ryukyuans are now known for honorable conduct diplomatically and Sho's friendly attitude only assists in their reputation. But, he is left with some of the issues of his late father, Shiatsu Showa, created. Despite Emperor Sho's best efforts, he is wary of his vassal attempting to claim lands of his own while trying to figure out on how to deal with the discovery of several memoirs of his father's "hospitality maids".
Misc:
The Celestial Mandate is akin the China's Mandate of Heaven.
The reason the royal family is so young is that Showa and his wife had been killed in an accident at a young age.
The current Ryukyuan army stands at some 6000 strong.
Ryuans or more commonly just Ryukyuans are tall, humanoid creatures with females standing at an average of 5' 10" and males averaging around 6' 1". The most noticeable trait they have are devil-like tails on their backs. They mature faster than humans reaching adulthood around 14 (but mentally they mature around 18) and can live long lives should the right conditions be met. Other appearance differences include longer fingers and "dual layered" eyes that some of the population has (the term "dual layered" means that while the eye has a solid color, their is another color on a "layer" behind it).
Most Ryukyuans can only use 80%-90% of the psychical strength a human could use but their brain capacity is 10%-20% greater than that of humans. Certain individuals will also express a rare gene that causes their mental power to grow to 50% or even 60% greater than that of humans. The Empire often stated these persons who usually become engineers, researches and the likes as the reason why the Empire's technology has advanced so quickly.
Gaishia (Homeworld) - The Ryukyuan homeworld, it is a combination of temperate and boreal forests, taigas and epic mountains ranges. Nothing too outstanding here, its temperature is surprisingly comfortable even though it tends to snow a good deal in the winter. That or the Ryuans can't feel the difference. Gaishia is also home to an exclusive mineral known as "Sakurite" which powers their empire although nuclear and more conventional means are also used. Even though it has a 48 hour day and night cycle, the speed which it revolves around the sun causes it to have the same 365 day year that Earth has, give or take a few days.
Ibiran (Inhabited World) - A lush garden world with rich soil, it produces much of the Empire's offworld food. It is largely plains and tropics with some scattered deserts and since much of the planet has remained untouched or has been only minimally terraformed, it makes for a very popular tourist spot, also boasting some of the best resorts, hotels and beach around.
Zhunan (Inhabited World) - With a harsh, unforgiving surface, the planet doesn't seem to offer much on the outside, but it has great stores of geological resources. Mills and factories located in the underground cities provide great amounts of metals and alloys while recent chemical labs churn out plastics and synthetic compounds created by the best minds the Empire can offer.
Numri (Colony/Mining World) - A gas giant wit a very small area of breathable oxygen in its atmosphere. It is home to many floating cities that operate on was basically modified battleship thrusters. It is easily one of the largest planets in the system and also produces much of the gas materials the Empire uses. It is home to many probe mines and chemical plants.
Ring of Chuza (Destroyed World/Astroid Field) - Chuza was once a moon to a large rocky planet with several moons orbiting it. However, after a mercury-sized astroid slammed into it, it and its moons have become part of the astroid field just out side of it. Chuza is one of the last remaining moons and has little atmosphere but has some plants that managed to survive with the tiny amounts of oxygen. It is used as a base for astroid mining operations.
Ariskazi, Lumana, & Havaka - Two inhabitable planets and a gas planet respectively, they are the remaining planets in the Ryuan System. While their are some orbital outposts and around the planet, there are no official colonies or outposts on the surface. Drones and probes are occasionally sent to the planet's surface to see how things are going. The Empire is thinking of first colonizing and fully developing the remaining planets before looking to and interstellar colony. However, the Empire still believes that they have full control over these planets as they are in their system and do not take kindly to others attempting to colonize here.
The Empire is lead by a both the Emperor and the Imperial Senate.
The seat of Emperor (or Empress) is based on the royal bloodline in which the oldest child takes the throne regardless of gender at the age of 20. Should the Emperor die without an heir, the next oldest sibling takes the throne and if the heir is too young, the Senate takes over. Siblings otherwise become generals, bureaucrats, senators and (in some rare cases) the spouse. Any of the Emperor's decisions can be overruled with a Senate vote should at least 75% of the senators vote against the decision. However, the Emperor can issue an Imperial Mandate to further overrule the Senate's vote. The amount of Imperial Mandates however, is controlled by the the Senate.
Senators are elected on a 75% majority vote for the zone or region they oversee. They are directly responsible for the growth and well-being of their region. They will often handle the more trivial things the Emperor either cannot be bothered with or simply does not want to do. Things under their jurisdiction include setting tax rates, criminal prosecution, and local manufacturing quotas. While in theory there is requirements to becoming a senator, many of them have either studied law and politics or were once in the military. The minimum age of being a senator is 30.
There is a very noticeable amount of propaganda to outsiders, but native Ryukyuan are unaware. The Emperor and the Imperial Family (along side the Senate on some occasions) are held in very high regards with the Imperial Family held up to some god-like standards. The propaganda levels are at North Korea-levels but the difference is that it actually works.
The Ryukyuan Imperial Military is divided into two parts, the Imperial Ryukyu Army (IRA), the Imperial Ryukyuan Navy (IRN). The IRA consists the terrestrial armed force and is sub-divided into the Army, the Mechanized and the Air Fleet. The basic doctrine the IRA follows involves rapid blitzing and then digging in repeated for a number of times while the IRN favors the use of feints followed by flanking.
Weapon wise, the Empire favors high velocity kinetic weapons that combine bits of energy-based rounds creating a special plasma-gauss round. These bullets are fired from weapons with a gauss/railgun-like mechanism inside of them, accelerating the round to super high velocity. The heat causes the plasma compound inside to super heat, thus creating an effective armor-piercing round.
There is also a noticeable ideology of multi-use and versatility with both most branches being able to do the functions of another. All ground troops are given instruction on how to operate vehicles and some simpler aircraft (more complex aircraft require dedicated crew to function properly). Like wise, vehicle crews are taught how to use a wide variety of infantry weapons so they can keep fighting without a vehicle. That said, some troops are still trained more for their assigned weapon (i.e. just because a standard soldier can use a sniper doesn't mean that he'll use it as well as a sniper specially trained with it).
Swords is another noticeable difference of the Empire's soldier compared to the troops of other species and factions. Military tradition states that knives are considered hidden weapons and that troops should only use weapons that signify they are visibly armed and ready to kill. However, it would be unwise to underestimate both the strength of the Empire's advanced swords and the Banzai charges troops will pull off in battles.
Produced by Aizuku Imperial Armory, the Type-39A Battle Rifle is standard issuse firearm for the Empire's ground troops. It fires a plasma-gauss round that makes it effective amongst all types of infantry armor and even some lightly armored vehicles with certain modifications. The standard Type-39A is semi-automatic but its versatility is its key feature. Its barrel, sights/scopes, firing rate and even bullet type can be changed to suit various roles such as a DMR, a squad automatic weapon, carbines and shotguns.
The Type-72 SMG, produced by the Sarenga Arms Company, boasts a full automatic fire rate of around 650 rounds a minute. There are three main variants of the SMG:
Type-72 – Unmodified version, used by military in close-quarters situations. Simple to make, clean and use, it is often quoted as a favorite weapon of the Imperial Elites.
Type-72 Navy – A shortened version with a folding stock, it is often issued to pilots and used can be found in ship armories, its shortened barrel and reduced weight make it ideal for settings where range is not of importance.
Type-71 Tactical – Technically an updated version of the previous Type-70 SMG, the Type-71 Tactical is issued to law enforcement as an automatic weapon for the counter-terrorist units.
Produced by the Aizuku Imperial Armory and nicknamed “the Gun to Pierce the Heavens” after an incident which a large number of these were used as impromptu AA weapons, the Type-99 is the Empire’s successful anti-armor rifle. Firing a much larger caliber of the same plasma-gauss round as the Type-32A, it can penetrate the armor of most land vehicles and even aircraft should the user have good enough aim. Used as both a primary anti-armor weapon and a sniper rifle, it can be said that this gun is so successful that it is the sole reason why the Empire lacks explosive-based weapons for normal ground troops.
The Ryukyu Empire’s first venture into pure directed energy weapons, the Type-2 has a lot to live up to. There are two main versions: the ground combat version and the larger auto cannon version. These are currently made on Zhunan by the Imperial Laboratories.
Type-2 (Ground Combat Ver.) – Using charged batteries that hold up to 250 shots, the weapon fires at a rate of 500 “shots” per minute. It can be mounted on a special Sakurite Generator mount and (in theory) fire indefinitely
Type-2A Auto cannon – A larger, heavier version mounted on aircraft and fighters. It fires a larger “shot” than ground combat version and has been noted as an effective measure against some types of sheilds
Forged from a titanium-steel alloy by the Aizuku Imperial Armory, these swords are just as advanced as the firearms of the Imperial Army. A thin veil of pure energy around the blade makes this weapon deadly against nearly all types of infantry armor. Standard issue to all soldiers who not only use it in close quarters but also will Banzai charge with it to surprisingly great effects.
Made by the Sarenga Arms Company, the Type-0 Special is a fully automatic machine pistol with an incredible 800 rpm fire rate. Of course, holding down the trigger is not encouraged due to the fact the pistol only has a 20 round magazine but come with a semi-auto firing mode. Like the Type-72, it has a few versions:
Type-0 Special – Standard issue to ground troops, can fire in both semi-auto and full-auto
Type-0H – A modified version that turns the base Type-0 model into a pseudo-SMG with a 50 round extended clip. Popular amongst ship crews
Type-0.0 – Called the “Zero point O”, this version lacks the ability to fire in full-auto, but makes up for it by chambering a larger round. Often used by law enforcement, ship crews and army officers alike
Male Version Female Version
The Imperial Ashigara are the main line troops of the Imperial Army. They undergo a rigorous and fine-tuned training course for six-months that turns them into fierce fighting soldiers. Capable of using many weapons and control many kinds of vehicles, the Imperial Army prides itself on the flexible nature of its troops. Courageous and well-trained, these men and women are ready to die in the name of the Emperor for victory! Equipment (Standard):
Type-39A Battle Rifle
2 Cluster grenades
Type-8 Military Energy Blade
Type-0 Special Auto-Pistol
3-layered Composite armor consisting of an outer lightweight but strong alloy shell, blast and shock padding and nano-weave underclothing.
Helmets with thermal and night vision and built in oxygen recyclers
Born to fight, the Imperial Buidos are the elite shock soldiers of the Emperor. They are trained and disciplined to peak psychical and mental condition through a brutal one year training regiment and are further enhanced with implants and cybernetics. Wearing special armor that is not only stronger, but allows for orbital combat, they can also act as space marines. With Inshingu blessing, they are the prime of the Imperial Army and are not called the Emperor’s Pride for no reason! Equipment (Standard):
Modified Type-39A BRs
2 Cluster Grenades
2 EMP Smoke Grenades
Shortened Type-8 Military Energy Blades
Type-0.0 Auto-Pistol
Fully sealed and pressurized Composite Armor similar to that of normal soldiers but have an added living tissue layer that quickly regenerates from damage and has small jump jets in the boots
Airtight Helmet similar to standard helmets but are suitable to wear in space and oxygen deprived environments
Access Kits to gain entry to locked or hard to reach places
Mechanized Armored Strike Skeletons or MASSs are super heavy combat troops that can fill a variety of roles based on their load out. They can support advancing troops and lock down an area, destroy armor and aircraft and even act as riot suppression with large shields and shock lances. The armor they wear is closer to tank armor than infantry armor with a much more advanced composite system and HUD for the operator’s convenience. Operators also are specially trained to engage similarly large opponents or mech suits but most anyone can easily learn how to use the suits. Weapons included autocannons, HMGs, grenade launchers, Anti-Material Rifles, small artillery pieces and even directed energy weapons.
Yokonos are pilot-assisted robots that serve as both the elite troops and psychological terror weapons. Many of them are former prisoners and convicts who have since "seen the righteous path of honor". Their armor is heavily based on ancient Ryukyuan warrior armor recreated with modern technology of course. Their suits are armored to the point only the armor of a M.A.S.S. unit would rival for them to get up close with their specially modified Type-8G Beam Swords, swords powerful enough to cut many people in half and deal significant damage to even vehicles. To assist them in getting their, their armor has thrusters so they may cover ground at a rapid pace.
Very little is known about Project Ronin with much of its inner working tightly shut and most "known information" is more rumor than fact. It is said they are part of the Ryukyu Empire's super soldier project while others say they are kidnapped children who are trained to be silent agents of assassination from a young age. Some say they will only stay in the Imperial Capital while others say they travel the stars aboard a modified heavy frigate called the "Fortune Favors". The only thing that remains constant in the stories and rumors is that just one of them can easily take out entire platoons of soldiers with ease. However, the military and the government have both denied the existence of these super soldiers..
Serving as the Ryukyuan equivalent of a Humvee, the Khozo is perhaps the most common ground vehicle, used by both the military and law enforcement in large numbers. There are even civilian models available favorites of those living in rural parts or simply want to over compensate. The gun can be changed to a various number of weapons like different types of machine guns or vehicle-mounted grenade or rocket launchers.

While much of the IRA uses plasma-gauss or railgun weaponry, the Hai-Shou Type-21 Self Propelled Gun uses what some would consider obsolete kinetic explosives. However, the 175mm gauss gun and its high-yield explosive shells would like to differ. Capable of firing 7 shells a minute at ranges of 75km (47 miles), there seems to be a lack of non-believers about its “obsolete tech” after they see the Hai-Shou in action. Specs:

While not exclusive aircraft, the Maxis drones are widley used in both the ground and in space. They can mounted either a machine gun to support infantry or a small-caliber auto-cannon for use against large armored targets, they are often sent in swarms to use enmasse against large groupings of soldiers or larger ships, but are also often used individually by soldiers standing guard or patrolling.
Created for maximum versatility, the AH4 can dive to 2000 ft in depth and act as a submarine while also being able to shoot out of the water and preform ground strike and support roles. They are some of the most well-known VTOLs of the empire, comparably similar to the human Apache and Blackhawk helicopters in their fame. Specs

Although an outdated aircraft, the Kankori still serves as air defense on many outposts and colonies. Its age is also a strength as the Kankori relies on mostly analogue controls supplemented by modern technology, meaning that it will still fly and fight even when struck by an EMP (although at reduced efficiency). Easy to fly and maintain, the Kankori is sometimes called the “Subeno”, the pet of the Inshingu God of Forges. Can also be used as bomber, escorts, scouts or air support. Specs

The second dedicated bomber of the Ryukyu Empire, the Marung is actually based on a high-speed civilian spacecraft combined with the 1st generation bomber. Carrying nothing but it ordinance, it drops everything from carpet bombs and the infamous “Hive Rockets” to Resupply Drops and MASS units accurately while going at speeds of Mach 1. While primarily meant for ground bombing, the “Hive Rockets” allow the Marung to engage into orbital combat to some degree. When the Marung opens its bomb bay, the “hive” of the rockets drops and then the rockets automatically seek out targets. Especially damaging to small ships and fighters, it can be used as a good distraction against larger ships and if they too many open spots. Specs

Beretta-Class frigates are the standard space warship of the Empire. They are a good balance of speed and strength and are often the test subject for ship-based equipment. Their main gun is a Mass Acceleration Drive which fires a 500-ton shell that is a mix of tungsten and magnetic steel around a ferric core capable of destroying ships of the same class and even some larger classes with ease. The MAD Cannon is assisted by a broadside cannons of both the kinetic and electromagnetic varieties.
Having been exposed to a race much more advanced then they were, the Ryukyuan were able to accelerate their technology at astounding rates by learning about what worked and what didn't work. However, much of their technology is mechanical or engineering, biology and life sciences are lagging behind in comparison.
Gravitational Well Generator - Different than a normal FTL drive as it actually shortens the space around and uses "natural" gravity to jump through space, thus only require minimal energy while traveling. This said, it is not as fast as normal FTL drives (say if a normal FTL drive could go 10 lightyears in 5 minutes, the Gravational Well Generator requires half an hour to do the same distance) and it is less accurate meaning that ships have to spread themselves out further to prevent them from crashing upon exiting or have to go in lines.
FTL Information Transmissions - Through some highly advanced quantum psychics involving quantum mechanics, special radio-like things and space duck, the Ryukyu Empire found a way to contact its other planets and ships out in the vastness of space with little interruption.
Plasma-Gauss Rounds - Specialized ammunition used exclusive by the Ryukyu Empire, these bullets are fired from specially designed weapons that accept these kinds of bullets. The round is super heated by the coils as it leaves the barrel, thus letting the plasma stored within come out, enveloping the bullet but not melting the bullet, resulting in a powerful round that can punch through most armors.
Sakurite Generators - Perhaps one of the most important technologies to the Empire, sakurite is used to power many of their military equipment and used in place of nuclear or other means. Highly efficient and requiring less complex machinery (by Ryukyuan standards), it seems like the sure fire way to produce millions of kilowatts. Unlike nuclear, they are not prone to meltdowns but they will violently explode if too much strain and/or damage is placed on it.
Cybernetics and Nanotech - The Ryukyuans use these things often to rehabilitate those with lost or malfunctioning limbs or used to supplement soldiers. Nanotech is more recently been researched for more military uses with the idea of "fold-out satellites" being a dream that many are striving towards.
Organic Armors - Probably the most advance biotech the Empire has, organic armors use hard natural fungus or cellulose given a mixture of drugs and genetic modification to quickly regenerate over time. Had not the Empire funded biological studies more, they might be able to create even more efficient Organic Armors.
Artificial Intelligence - Having created one by mistake before discovering how to create a loyal one (or at least a none hostile one), they are used in many large spacecraft, reducing the overall number of crew men need per ship and increasing the amount of available manpower
Cryogenic Engineering - Used for long distance travel and prisoners, the Empire created these first to solve the issue of rowdy inmates at prison centers. It is also being looked into for possible non-lethal and crowd-control use.
Magnetic Resonance Projector - Experimental shield used on spacecraft and larger land vehicles. Shield is made of electromagnetic waves constantly being generated by the projector. It seems to work best against energy and low-velocity projectiles.
Surveillance and Security Screening - Being such pseudo-toleration state, the security and surveillance abilities of the Empire are at an incredible level, able to pick up anything no matter how much coating and hiding it may be under and no one can escape the watchful eye of public and hidden camera of the state. Because of this, Imperial Intelligence is very efficient and hard to catch.
Experimental Directed Energy - A new leap in a largely unexplored field, the Empire is begging ventures into weaponizing energy to turn into more advanced plasma and lasers for use across multiple fields. While still a new study, it seems to have great potential due to Ryukyu's Sakurite Generators.
Ryukyuans tend to be a very reserved and modest race when dealing with outside races, although they are generally intimate with each other. Hugging is as common as handshaking and usually means you are willing to do friendly business in a professional setting while handshakes could hold potentially shady dealings. Public displays of affections are a common sight in Ryukyuan cities to the point some other species might get a bit uncomfortable around them.
Ryukyuans favor efficiency in most cases without the extra bells and whistle. Careers are often determined by a system of tests but its easy to get into any field you want provided you have the paperwork. However, this still has lead to the most amount of competition that Ryukyuans face, which has in turn made them more industrious and persevering. Both genders are equal in rights and opportunities with gender demographics favoring males 6:4. However, this is countered balanced with some males (and some females) dedicating their lives to their work or simply not having an interest in romance and marriage.
Despite all the grace and modesty Ryukyuans have, they are also fiercely loyal to the state and more importantly the Emperor due to generations of propoganda. It is said that some military units operate on more moral than pure discipline and fight just as well. However, simply insulting or teasing the state will not aggravate them as they can tell when someone is serious about their words. Because of this, lying in front of a Ryukyuan is much harder and Ryukyuan society is much more trusting an honest in general. That is not to say Ryukyuans themselves don't lie though.
Due to the fact they ran unopposed in their evolutionary race, competition between others and personal achievement is not stressed as much as collective progress and unity. Sporting events are also not as complex with running, martial arts and weapon arts being the major sporting venues. A game similar to soccer is also played but on a smaller scale with rule changes that state you are allowed to fight and use some very unorthodox tactics to score goals.
Due to inhabiting different planets, the way Ryukyuans will have slight changes. Those from Ibiran are noticeably more relaxed and generally more blissfully happy, enjoying the simpler things in life and living simpler lives in general. Zhunan hailing Ryukyuans are generally more muscular than the average Ryukyuan but not by much with a much more touchy personality. They also speak with a lower, heartier tone and are a little more aggressive than normal Ryukyuans. Those from Numeri are generally nuttier than the other most likely due to the fact of how much random gas they inhale from birth and on a daily basis.
Inshingu is the dominate religion of the Ryukyuan people. It is polytheistic, worshipping many gods based on ancient Shinkas as pantheons. Of course they are no longer just Shinkas, but more divine beings that have expanded beyond non-Shinkas. Ryukyuans of legendary enough status can also become "Paragons" which are placed on the same level as deities but lack the powers of one. Paragades can range from war heros to inventors and Emperors/Empresses to normal people who did something heroic.
Inshingu belief stress nature, beauty, tranquillity, loyalty, harmony and discipline. Loyalty is also a major underlying value due to state influence. The religious symbol of Inshingu is the Tsubori, a red pole that gets thinner towards the top with a black base and top. There is also a small table used for offering, incenses and other holy items. The Book of Divine is the major religious text. Despite the values of Inshingu, it would do one good to know that "tranquil" does not equate to "peaceful", some of the best warriors were once Inshingu monks or nuns and Inshingu monasteries are build to double as forts in war.
Death in the Inshingu faith works on a cycle of rebirth similar to that in Hinduism; when you die, you are reborn into a life according to your choices in your past life. However, death is not something that is seems as fearful or scary. Many people are neutral about it and some even openly mock it. Desecrating the dead is what really freaks the Ryukyuans out.
Ryukyuans have a looser sense of sexual morals when it come to relationships compared to other species. Extramarital affairs are common and the idea of "cheating" is a hard concept for Ryukyuans to understand as they see marriage and romance as two different things. They are also more embracing of nudity and there are clothing that cater to said audience.
Nudity is more embraced in Ryukyuan culture as is sexuality. What Ryukyuans consider acceptable public displays of affection would easily cause other races to blush or outright ban it. Ryukyuan children are also exposed to it from an early age but proper schooling allows them to become very sensible about it very quickly. Everything from stores, to advertisements to even pop idols and even a select few school uniforms can be seen following these trends of mature content although it is done in moderation. In many official setting such as the military and the government do not follow these trends in favor to look more professional.
Yes, some species will feel very awkward indeed.
For much of its time on Gaishia, the native Ryukyuans ran unopposed in its evolutionary race which left primitive Ryukyuans very different than modern Ryukyuans. Primitive Ryukyuans operated at around half of what is considered normal for modern Ryukyuans, thus their technological progress was slow. For comparison, it took them nearly 8000 years to create the wheel after they finally learned how to harness fire and build huts. This was due to a noticeable lack of competition on their homeworld which resulted in a lack of evolutionary drive.
It is possible they might have never evolved beyond this stage had not they been granted an alien expedition. Around Earth year 500, primitive Ryukyuans were finally starting to create farming villages on the bank of rivers when they were visited by an unknown alien race. Referred to as "Shinkas" in the oldest texts, they tried to colonize Gaishai to harvest its Sakurite resources when they encountered the primitive Ryukyuans in what is now called “The Awakening”. While the Shinkas would eventually die out on the planet due to lack of proper supplies and immune systems not fit for the natural diseases of Gaishai, they had left the primitive inhabitants with a wealth of knowledge for them to use and mated with them. Some proclaim that the "dual-layered" iris some Ryukyuans have is due to Shinka genes in their blood.
The Shinkas's language would be combined with the early writing script to form the modern Shintoshi language. While the Shinka's advanced technology was too advanced to comprehend at first, generations of reading the archives and books the Shinka brought allowed the Ryukyuans to get up to the technology level of modern humans in 1770.
Being such an influential drive to modern Ryukyuans and so magical to their ancient counterpart, the Ryukyuan religion, Inshingu, was based on the worship of the Shinka colonists; even the Shintoshi word for "father" is "Shinku" taken from the name of the what the primitive, stone-throwing Ryukyuans called those who started the Awakening. However, despite all the technological advancements they made, their culture and arts was never all too well developed which makes modern Ryukyuans incredibly curious about the nature and customs of other races as they lack their own rich history.
However, Ryukyuan history is not all peaceful; they have nearly wiped themselves out on multiple occasions. In 1723 the Gonzani War broke out were several ideological groups turned violent and fought in a complex system of alliances that would turn on each other on an almost daily basis. It would be ended almost 60 years later in 1786 AHEE. The war would eventually to the formation of the Imperial Senate which was then simply called the "Council".
The Histuga War in 1902 also limited the power of the Emperor after the infamous Emperor Pelgi the Mad attempted to dissolve the Senate through force. The Empire was then split into the Imperial Loyalists and the Radical Republicans who wanted end the entire concept of a monarch. The whole entire war lasted for 6 years and was abruptly ended in 1908 with the Siege of Pyochin when the leading general betrayed the Mad Emperor after killing the last of the Radicals. He and his son would then rule the Empire with a tyrannical iron fist for almost a century until 1963 when a counter-mutiny was lead by the secret daughter of Pelgi, Shibahari, who (thankfully) was a better ruler then his father. Ironically the Shibahari and the son of the military dictator were childhood friends.
Since then, the Gonazani War and the Histuga Uprising with its ensuing revolution have been the only major wars with a large number of causalities as the entire Empire is one culture. With a stable government, they started planetary colonization efforts in their home system with Ibiran colonized in 1945 and being officially annexed in 2003 and the colonization effort of Zhunan starting in 1970 before being annexed in 2046 and the resource harvesting of the Numri gas giant and the Ring of Chuza with its surrounding asteroid fields in 2001 and 2025 respectively.
Ryukyuans managed to create their first VIs in 2061 and then a AI in 2103. However, an AI Crisis in 2143 has lead many Ryukyuans to be distrustful of the idea of true AIs. In recent years however, scientists and robotics experts managed to create a loyal AI named "Evia" which has since been copied and used as a base for use in the military and government.
While technological advancement has slowed in recent times with the new year of 2154, the Empire still counts themselves as one of the most advanced races, making contact with other races some decade prior. The current Emperor, Emperor Shitatsu Sho, has been urging a policy to focus on more civilian technologies and development of inhabited land instead of expanding, increasing already heated debate on what the Empire should do next; focus inward perfection or to go beyond the solar horizon.
National Name: Yamatihai Bokura no Hastuni (Imperial Realm of Yamatai.)
National History:
WIP
Race:
Tall and well-built, the people of Yamatai range from fair skin to slightly tanned. The most common hair color is black and other darker shades of brown and grey with streaks of dark violet, navy blue or crimson also being common. Black and brown eyes are common with violet, while uncommon, is not unheard of. They often mess up foreign languages but are a fairly reserved and modest culture although can become very aggressive and war-like if riled up sufficiently, which at the current time they are.
Government
The government is headed by a Emperor who the eldest child in the Imperial Family, who claims a lineage starting with the gods. This results in girls occasionally taking the throne. The Emperor's word is final in most cases with hims having the ultimate authority. However, the Emperor is not always "on duty" thus most of the time domestic cases are handled by the Imperial Court which consists of officials from the various "domains" of the Realm.
The biggest policies of the current government is isolationism, industrialism, nationalism that stress the conduct of Ancient Yamatai, having even changed the national anthem to reflect that. Propoganda is a very common thing, almost as common as breathing in some cases, however it works as Yamatai is a homogenous population, mostly consisting of humans who are 98% of the population. With Yamatai starting to become more aggressive, it seems that isolationism will soon break away and turn into expansionism and nationalism will become jingoism.

Total Pop: 79.3 Million Humans - 98% Elves - .9% Dwarves - .7% Other - .4%
Religion
Inshingu is the main religion of Yamatai and it is based on the idea that various gods created the world and will appear in front of mortal from time to time based on what that person has done and will receive treatment equal to that. Good people will be blessed with good fortune, bad people be cursed with back fortune, that kind of thing. The Imperial Family claims direct decedent from the King of the Inshingu Gods "Amaburi" with some nobles claiming blood ties to lesser gods. Otherwise, the faith is very close to that of Shintoism.
Economy
Of recent, Yamatai effectively isolated itself from the outside with very little outside trade. It keeps everyone fed and supplied through a strict rationing system. The idea of currency is not heavily embraced because of this but the nation uses coins heavily as currency called "Jin", coming in 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000, and 10,000 pieces. Less valuable pieces are made of poor quality steel that did not pass the grade required for military standard while more valuable pieces are made of silver and gold. To an outsider, it may seem that Yamatai is in heavy inflation, with things often costing in the hundreds or thousands. This is not the case, Yamatai simply uses large marks for a reason that translates to something like "because we can."
Also due to the push to rapidly develop their military, civilian goods that are not part of the rationing system are often in short supply, with most civilian and light industry converted into heavy, military industry. Same thing goes with research, things that can be directly used in the military are pushed while other research tends to be pushed aside. Both research and industry which is found to be "useful" is subsidized with other, unsubsidized industries told to go and make money.
Tariffs on foreign goods are incredibly high. as part of Yamatai's isolationism. Forgien business are shunned away from trying to set up shop in Yamatai even though it has cheap labor. Refineries, mines, mills and foundries are the most common type of industry, having to pay less taxes and recive more subsideis than other industries.
Rare Resource
Sakurite - A heavy, dense mineral with pink complexion and a very explosive tendency with it often exploding if hit with a pickaxe or something at high velocity, having to be mined with things like chisels or even having to shave it. There are many ways and grade of refining it, some making it more stable, but less useful since it doesn't explode as easily, and other make it even more dangerous, having to be transported in thick-armored trucks.. It is heavily used as an explosive component in things like shells and larger explosive. While it can generate huge amounts of power, it requires a process similar to nuclear fusion, but since that technology hasn't been really researched, Sakurite is still only used as an explosive. People say it also works well as seasoning.
Technology
Yamatai's technology is sort of a very rapidly moderninzing and attempting to surpass other nation's, almost like a Great Leap Forward that works. People are encouraged to work in the industrial feilds or go straight to military. Anything military related can be considered advanced but civilian industries lag behind, being realtively poorer and less sucessful than heavy industry.
Attempting to learn from past mistakes, the government carefully assigns the best educated people into posistion where they thinkg their scinetific knowledge will be best used. Foreign advisors are often hired to further advance their cause. Science was once a feared and hated occupation, but now it seems to be reserved, science only second to military.
Summary: Yamatai's military industry is booming as is their military science but their civilian and light industry suffers due to lack of support.
Military
The Yamatai Military heavily stresses honor and loyalty with its troops, heavily indoctrinating them so they will fight to the death saying "death is only feared by the weak". The branches of the military are the Imperial Yamatai Army (IYA) consisting of all ground forces and the Imperial Yamatai Navy (IYN); the air force is divided between the two of them but for official purposes is called the Imperial Yamatai Air Control (IYAC).
Yamatai's military excels at machine guns/AA guns and shells, having it been a huge focus after a humiliating defeat by the hands of the Yllendthyr Air Force. Overall, many weapons are well balanced with a focus on easy creation and cleaning but are also multi-use, able to take many role should the need arise. Yamatai's artillery, mortar and naval shells are unique in that they utilize naturally explosive Sakurite instead of gunpowder or other explosives. Depending on how it is refined/packed, it can have anywhere between a 30% to 60% larger blast than conventional explosives.
Standard troops will have six months of normal training and indoctrination plus that and additional two months of specialized training should they choose to pick a specialized role. It should be noted that they are given the choice to do so three month into their training so the last three months of normal training blends standard stuff with the basics of the role they picked.
Elite Infantry go through anywhere between a year to a year and a half of brutal training in the harshest locations. JSOIF units are heavily guarded in shadows with very little ever brought to light, even their training is kept a secret from all but the top brass.
Officers are hand picked from normal troops which show good aptitude of tactical sense and troop management who have served for at least year. From that they undergo five months of tactics and strategy with another three months of logistic and army management.
Yamatai infantry is meant to be versatile, able to take on many roles and are trained as such. However, just because a sniper can use a machine gun doesn't mean that he'll use it as well as a trained machine gunner. Armor wise has a similar notation of multi-use, namely in the lighter armored vehicles, while heavier vehicles are more in the "shock and awe" label. Yamatai doesn't use any larger airships or blimps of the sort, using only aircraft that are fast and maneuverable. This means that they tend to be light on armor and heavier aircraft have touchy engines.
Type 99 Rifle - Standard infantry rifle, it is boasts a robust, smooth bolt action and a side-loaded 5 round magazine. Easy to produce and clean, it almost a trophy to Yamatai's ballistics technology having a well-balanced mix of power, accuracy and fire rate. Due to its long barrel, it produces very little smoke or flash, making them hard to spot. Its users boast that it is the best bolt-action rifle in modern times, only out done by semi-automatic rifles.
Type 99c Carbine - A variant of the Type 99 given to paratroopers and armor crews. It is the same in mechanism, but has a shortened barrel and a folding skeleton stock with a pad on the end.
Type 5 Experimental Rifle - The Empire's first steps towards semi-auto rifles, it is very similar to the standard Type 99 rifle, but has an internal gas-operated rotating-bold firing mechanism and uses a stripper clip instead of the traditional side mounted magazine.. Very few have been made but it is undergoing field testing with elite infantry units.
Type 101 SMG - A mass produced but effective 30-round SMG, it has a high fire rate and springs in the stock to lower recoil and make the gun more accurate and very comfortable to shot. It is the most common automatic weapon in the military and is especially favored by armor crews and pilots who will keep them in their vehicles .
Type 101c SMG - Similar to the Type 99c in idea, this weapon has been lightened and given a folding skeleton stock that fold over the gun rather than on a hinge to the side.
Type 50 Heavy SMG - A newly created SMG that chambers for a larger round, somewhere between a pistol and a rifle round. the Type 50 has a 25-round clip and is noted to be a very reliable weapon. The military hopes to one day phase out the Type 101 in favor of these newer models.
Type 2 Machine Gun - A rapid-fire, easy to cleaning gun that is known for its durability and reliability, said to be able to fire 10,000 rounds continuously with barrel changes without jamming. Its an old design but has served the army well and is a very common weapon with a 30 magazine. It can also be reconfigured, even in the heat of battle, to take larger, belt-fed rounds effectively making it a heavy machine gun.
Type 30 Heavy Machine Gun - A widely used HMG, the Type 30 is used in every that doesn't require large amount of movement. It can often be found in bunker, fighters, or acting a AA guns. It was actually made for the express purpose of being a light AA weapon meaning it has a very high velocity and good fire rate on a rugged tripod.
Type 21 Service Pistol - The standard issue pistol, widely given out to all branches of the military. It has a eight round clip and is incredibly easy to take apart and put back together to the point children are taught how to do it around middle school.
Type 17a Revolver - An old revolver updated with newer technology. These guns are most commonly found on officers and those of high ranking. They are also used as flare guns, able to mount a special device on the barrel similar to that of a rifle grenade, to use as artillery markers or White Phosphorous rounds.
Type 7 Anti-Tank Rifle - A high caliber, single shot rifle meant to go against armor and materials. A single-shot, bolt-action rifle, it can effectively punch through about 1.5 inches depending on the angle and wind speed. If shot at a man, it can easily blow a gaping hole into them and leaving a bloody mess afterwards.
Type-R5 Stick Grenade - A very reliable stick grenade that is filled with six ounces of raw sakurite making it a very explosive grenade. Bits of metal are sometime stuck into a wrap around the grenade's head creating a deadly shrapnel grenade. With a press of a lever, its blade pops out and it can be stuck into the ground or wall and turned into a mine with a tripwire, or a desperate melee weapon.
Type 3 Light Infantry Mortar - A common piece of equipment carried by many soldiers, the Type 3 aka the "Hand Mortar" is a light mortar operate by one man and is used to provide fire support in urban areas or areas where traditional fire support is unavailable.
Ashigaru - Standard infantry of the IYA, they are given the Type 99 as a standard weapon and also carry the Type 21 pistol with 3 R5 grenades but are trained to use many other types of weapons so they can easily switch roles. They well trained and indoctrinated to fight for the emperor and wear tanish-beige colored uniforms. Unlike many other infantry units however, they carry swords instead of knives, as according to Yamatai Military Tradition stating that knives are considered hidden weapons and one should openly display their weapons should it be used to kill with honor. All other infantry are variations of the Ashigaru:
Recon - Given scoped Type 99's and are the only soldiers given knives instead of swords as part of their work is sabotage. They're also snipers, artillery spotters and infiltrators.
Machine Gunner - Armed with a Type 2 MG and plenty of ammo, these men aren't as much used to mow down then enemy as they are to suppress them. They are also well trained to go against aircraft, able to shot with their Type 2's and man actual AA emplacements.
Engineer - Armed with the Type 101 SMG and the Type 17a Revolver, they are responsible for repairing and creation of fortifications and vehicles. They are also experts at CQC and building clearing. They are also capable of crewing ground vehicles.
Grenadier - Very close to standard Ashigaru but are tasked with the destruction of everything. They are given extra grenades and the Type 7 AT Rifle. Each Grenadier is also assigned a "Hand Mortar" and are also trained in the use of artillery pieces.
Sky Trooper - A recently formed joint IYA/IYAC cooperative, they are elite Ashigaru taught how to jump from planes without killing themselves. They carry the shortened versions of the Type 99 Rifle and the Type 101 SMG and are able to fly aircraft to some degree.
Genpei - Officers of the military. The term "Genpei" refers to anyone who serves as "non-frontline combat role", although Genpei officers are required to fight along side troops, even generals as staying back in comfort while troops are fighting and dying is considered cowardice and dishonor in accordance with Yamatai military tradition. They will use pistols and swords although it is not uncommon for them to pick up rifles.
Kachi - Elite troops of the military equivalent to marines, they are attached to both branches of the military and are trained to use all forms of weapons and are deadly efficient. Unlike normal Ashigaru, they have bits of armor in the form of breastplates, forearm protectors, shin guard and tight protectors. Trained to take on the role of any specialized Ashigaru, they fight in land, sea and air and are considered legendary, often making appearance on propaganda posters.
JSOIF - Standing for "Joint Special Operation Intelligence Forces" (often pronounced "J-Soft" or "Joseph"), they are the special forces of the military. They are a small but elite corp of troops that do the Empire's dirty work from spying, infiltration, assassination and black operations. They are disdained as the most dishonorable branch of the army but there is little doubt in their effectiveness.
Guris - Mercenary warriors hired from the Maromahi mountain range, they spend their lives at high altitude and undergo training that would kill any normal man. Ancient Yamatai had huge amounts of trouble having to deal with these tribals until Emperor Hirihato the Wise brokered a deal that allowed Yamatai to recruit these deadly tribal warriors as elite infantry. They can be bought by other nations but often at huge costs that can amount to half a year's worth of a nation's GDP. Yamatai gets them a lot cheaper due to the ancient treaty.
Armored Ground Vehicles
While less like a single truck and more like a series of trucks with small modifications based on an original truck, the Ho-Wu fills the need of just about anything not directly related to combat. It has and armored cab to protect against small arms and some have caged or metal plates over the glass for more protection. All models have a machine gun mounted on a ring on top of the cab for protection. It can be a tractor, a troop transport, an ammunition carrier, a supply truck and an ambulance.
A newer model meant to replace the older Ho-Wu trucks but instead have gone on to serve next to them, the Ho-Nao is a full-tracked vehicle that can hold 16 men or roughly two squads. It has a small machine gun turret as a defense but it can be mounted with a many weapons from a tank turret to a ring mounted machine gun to a rapid fire AA gun. Its also used as an ambulance, engineer vehicle, artillery tractor and supply carrier.
A light scout and infantry support car, it can be armed with either a dual 20mm autocannon or a 37mm cannon, good against infantry or aircraft (with the dual 20mm) but not so great against armor. Thankfully its high speed allows it to get out of the way before its hit.
A half-track designed for the sole purpose of taking down aircraft after a humiliating defeat by Yllendthyr's Air Force. It uses high explosive sakurite rounds fired at high speed and in great numbers from autocannons. It is also effective against infantry and can really distract and confuse armor and emplacements, despite having very little killing power against them.
A speedy light tank meant for flanking, recon and harassing, the Chi-Sho is armed with a 37mm main gun and two Type 30 HMGs. It has thicker armor than the Ho-Ri, allowing it to go in armored combat but that doesn't mean it will take out super heavy doom tanks and the such.
The main tank of the IYA, the Chi-Nui is a reliable tank with a 53mm main gun, good against a wide variety of targets and a coaxial HMG mounted on the turret. Very well balanced, it known as the "Faithful" due to how little it has breakdowns and its durability, being able to function even if a shell is lodged in its track. This durability and reliability also translates to the fact is more expensive than other tanks of its class.
The heaviest tank in the IYA's arsenal, it boasts a 85mm main with a surprising amount of speed for something its size. Its armor can easily reflect the shells of smaller guns with legends telling of a Chi-Ni able to withstand a direct hit from both a 500lb bomb and an artillery shell. Alas, most Chi-Nis are not as strong as the fabled "Black Tortoise Tank" but are still tough and a worthy advisory.
A devastating SPG showing off a massive 155mm main gun on a ball-like mount allowing for good aiming and near impenetrable front and top armor. Its main cannon is even able to deal damage to ships should they find their way into the firing range. However, it is also slow, and its side and back armor are closer to that you'd find on a light tank. Like all mighty beasts, it has its weakness; one simply has to figure out how to effectively exploit it.
Artillery & Support Weapons
A high powered AA gun, it not only can shoot down aircraft with a rate of 20 rpm with an experienced crew, it can also fit slightly larger rounds and shoot at ships as costal artillery. Recently there has also been success in using it as base defense against armor but less success in trying to have it fire from a moving vehicle.
A rapid fire, easily movable AA gun, it can be deployed in large numbers as only two men are need to man it. Not only makes for a good rapid fire AA gun, it is also utilized as an anti-infantry base defense weapon.
A proper infantry mortar crewed by two to provide fire support. Able to fire a wide variety of shells for a variety of roles. Also fires the experimental Type F2 Flechette Shell, a shell that breaks in midair to mow down troops with its many steel darts.
Main frontline artillery unit of the IYA, it has a very good traversing and gun depression, earning it the nickname of "Inshogatsukino" meaning roughly "Impossible to hide from." It has only been introduced to service recently but as already cemented its place in frontline use.
A widely used gun famous for its long range to the point its mounted on some smaller ships. Very versatile, able to destroy many things with its gun, although heavy armor is its weakness. It can also be taken apart for easy travel.

Main line air-superiority fighter, the Ki-43 Kankori is a beloved plane with many uses. Like many Yamatai air planes, the Kankori is both a land based and sea based plane meaning and has high speed and maneuverability. However, it should be noted that they have weaker armor due to the fact much of it was stripped down to make the plane lighter, inadvertently making them vulnerable if not working in pairs or teams or if the pilot is unskilled.

A sea-plane that can land in water, used primary as a search-and-rescue plane and maritime patrol. It is also the main paratrooper plane of Yamatai, able to drop them from the rear hatch. It is much lighter armed and armored than the Ki-10, with only a single dual 20mm in the front nose with high caliber machine guns also in the nose, the rear hatch and the waister blister. It can carry up to 4000lb of torpedoes, depth charges and bombs for attack runs.
