Sorry for my absence! A Volunteering position suddenly turned into a Volunteer Leadership position I was not expecting at all so things have been hectic.

Look at you posers, having to bang dragons or sell your soul for magic when you could just play a lute for some. Anyways, here's Wonderwall. - Bards

I mean for like internal conflict-rival factions. Unless you just wante to have a unified front from the get-go. I think the Oqer and the Scaablin are potential allies either way.

The Oqer in general are all over the place, I'm playing as sort of confederation of tribes and settlements. I'm still deciding how much infighting there is and how orky they are in general.
<Snipped quote by ClocktowerEchos>

Ah well. Ok. I was picturing my Arthropods as a non-sentient stowaway creature on the OO's ships-they crash, my race's destiny is altered considerably. In regards to Oqer/Arthropod relations I was thinking they would have common ground in being decidedly non-human. Potential conquerors of the weakling humans. Perhaps there are factions of Oqer with some combination of (3) and (1)? Whichever, my Scaablin have no recollection of the Old Ones, wouldn't even know they existed outside of the various ruins around Azoth. It's simply been too long since those events. They exist in a vague-mythic history that scholars still debate today.

There could be something involving the breeding vats that gave birth to the Oqer which gave sentience to the Scaablins. Not really sure where that would go but its an idea.

I'm not sure how well a combination of 3 and 1 would go tho.
Writing up a post now.
Its getting pretty interesting, already has a pirate butler and the world's most intense staring contest over a length of solid bamboo.

Whenever the alien master race crashed. Totally open to mytho-historical relations. I like the rationale you use for your Oqers having evolved to become something new on Azoth.

I was thinking that the Oqer was once just cloned workers and such for the Old Ones. However, once the OOs found about your race having crash landed, they didn't know what the hell they were dealing with so they just slightly altered the Oqers to be soldiers to try and eradicate your aliens. Clearly, they didn't do that great of a job.

Rushing up to modern times, I was wondering if you'd be interested in a relation of one of these:

1) The Oqer still hold a dislike or hatred of the aliens due to genetic encoding by their creators that still linger, leading them to still wanting to fight your aliens.
2) The Oqer simply lacking any real attitude towards your aliens. They know your race exists, they know they've fought before on behalf of their masters but don't really care any more.
3) The Oqer see your aliens as "liberators" in some way since they thought your aliens some how "freed" them by "destroying the oppressors".
@Halo

Its all a dream.

@FlaggFor my own sheet, would it be okay if I said that originally my guys (whose name I might change) were originally vat-grown laborers and soldiers but since have "evolved" into more natural means of reproduction. But they still see the buildings where their ancestors as holy sites where they still use what knowledge they have left to create animals for food and for mounts. They've also tried to re-clone themselves like their ancestors did to create them but keep failing since they don't actually know enough about both the machinery and themselves to produce clones, creating what's basically the Ferals on my current NS.

@RhymerHow far back would they be? I have an idea for an bit of historical relation.
<Snipped quote by ClocktowerEchos>

Ok, so I just skimmed your sheet- a few thoughts.

1) why not have them produced from still functioning breeding vats in facilities scattered across the landscape? That way, we can hear less about their sperm ;) Also, breeding vats are cool.

2) Make them less orky. I'm fine with violent tribes of failed supersoldiers inspired by orcs/orks, but let's get rid of the fake-cockney, the tusks, and the Warhammer/Warcraft orcliness going on. In fact, making them more like Tolkien's orcs or mutants in 40K or a post-apocalyptic setting and less like the 'greenskins' of pop fantasy is probably a better way to go.

3) Archeo tech is really just there for you to run with and give the RP an interesting edge. I'm not going to allow machine guns or vehicles or tanks or anything that would be godmoddish or stupid, but I'm also not going to get too specific about it, bc I want people to have the freedom to do what they like. Just use common sense and creativity.

1) Sure thing, I was just unsure of how exactly to make them, I'd be totally down for making their "bases" be mostly centered around science centers and such. I assume they'd still be working although there would be no more point to their more natural reproduction cycle.

2) Sure thing, the only thing is that I haven't read Tolkien nor do I know much about mutants in 40k. Fear not tho, I didn't plan to have them to speak exactly with a faux-Cockney accent. I totally didn't spent half an hour trying out various accents for them.

3) Can I use stuff like chemical stimulants or would the breeding vats take up the archo tech slot?

Here is my critique. It's not official so take it or ignore it.

I think the way they are currently described is not really what you would expect from beings created for the singular purpose of war. Realistically, you would not bother with things like breeding, emotion, or any of those "human" attributes. If we created war machines in real life, we would not even bother with putting skin on them. We'd make them robots with the singular purpose of waging war, because that is the most effective application for such a thing, practically and economically. Emotion is detrimental when your only purpose is to kill.

But I understand robots don't really fit in with the RP.

So what I would suggest, to explain why they still breed and all that, is maybe make them some conquered race of people that the Old Ones (is that what we're calling them?) annihilated and attempted to clone to be used as slaves (it would explain the emphasis on strength) with a little bit of genetic manipulation to make them ideal laborers. Ideally, though, you should shroud their origin in mystery because it wouldn't make sense for them to know exactly what they are.

I attribute their emotional capabilities to natural evolution and mutations in brain cells (because you know... science). I think that I could make them as the sort of cannon fodder "biological robots" that were meant to do all task that the Old Ones didn't want to do like labor or fighting.

I'm actually thinking of redesigning the race completely. I remember having an idea of cat people or something like that. Might also do something of a mixed community, also had an idea of a human/lamia civilization mix.
@Pepperm1ntsThat's just supposed to be a run they use.
I'm thinking of them worshiping their creators as some sort of god, albeit in a twisted way.
