Officially throwing my interest into this! Thinking of doing something with Philadelphia and being aggressively American.

@Jeddaven Late ass answer, but yes, to break down the turn system idea, a GM post will start a "turn". Then people can make their posts and as many posts as they want to, interacting with whoever and reacting to the GM post. Once everyone has posted and agreed to end the turn. Then we move on to "turn 2" which includes a time skip of a few days to a week (or however long is needed), world events happen and individual factions might have a random event happen to just to them. Posting begins again, everyone needs to make at least one post per turn but there's no upper limit as long as two people aren't holding everyone else back.

Also this is more general, but this idea is still open. Might change it a little but I still want to do a post apoc NRP of some design.

The Final Conquest

As much as I hate to be "that guy", it might be better to get some exprience roleplaying on this site before jumping into trying to GM your own RP. I know you have exprience on other sites but trying to use that exprience alone on a different site is a pretty shortsighted belief, and one that's pretty common. Your hook is really, really weak since what you have is pretty much the baseline for all NRPs here. Plus you're so new that people are less likely to jump on your idea since you are more or less completely unknown and the NRP community on this site at least is pretty close/small (or even insular).

Also as what Yam said, having an RP where people are competing with each other instead of cooperating on an out of character/meta sense does not lead to good out comes most of the time. Once people see their nation as part of themselves and not as an independent creation, that is when you get a lot of arguing, people trying to push the limits and boundaries. Overall its not a healthy mindset for an RP.

Again, I am not saying to turn my nose up and be an elitist snob, I'm just being blunt since this kind of situation has happened a lot and it always ends with the new person asking why aren't people as passionate as they are about their idea or RPing and just leave.

The days after the funeral were a flurry of activity as the calm before the storm was picking up. The temporary truce between the two sides had faded away and was replaced with a flurry of messengers and envoys while the skies above the kingdom were filled with ravens bearing gifts and letters. Supporters of Sharles and supporters of Anyamara reached out to their connections, some pledging immediate loyalty to a cause while others, still waiting to be swayed, entertained the requests of both sides.

Conspiracy and rumors flowed freely on the wind. Those who supported Sharles brought up all too fresh wounds of madness and tyranny that they swore Anyamara would usher in, a "Queen of Blood" they called her. While those who supported Anyamara wove stories of the incompetence and inexperience of Sharles, saying how he was "more of a puppy that followed the Crown Prince than true equal". Every claim had two counter claims against and a war was boiling on the horizon, a hand only stalled by the hesitancy of the Church as neither the politically-savvy Pontifex nor the zealous Meretrix had proclaimed their support, instead only citing that the "Gods will favor the righteous heir", with many attempts to sway the holy word to speak the name of either Sharles of Anyamara.

More disturbing still was the murder of the previous Master Minister, Viscount Gaulet Holdorf, whose body was found hanging from a tree on the border of the Arbormark and the Crownmark. He had served King Colyt less than willingly, the Crownmark Viscount unable to go against the Mad King's demands being the 5th Master Minister in his service. It was known that he favored Sharles, more out of fear towards Anyamara than anything, but it was unknown who his killers were. Needless to say some where quick to pin the blame on Anyamara's supporters but the bloody sigil carved on to his chest and the word of the doctors who suggested he had been killed at twilight the night before pointed towards another culprit...

Where the ravens land, rising banners are sure to soon follow.

Summary

And now we go into the first "free RP" section. Again, this is where your characters are free to do what they wish and interact with others by visiting them personally or sending ravens to talk. Or they could be doing some other activity like gathering support or debating who to declare for. Conflict hasn't fully broken out yet and some might still wish to stop it from bursting out but make no mistake, war is coming, in all its horrors, and all its glories.

As a side note, if you want to talk to an NPC, let me know. The three off the top of my head include the Captain of the Crownguard, Sir Jorin Redside (who is known to be a very blunt if not dutiful man who takes his position and the ideals of honor very seriously), Pontifex Rulon XI (who is known to be a very politically savvy priest who obtain the role after careful maneuvering and some lucky occurrences) and Meretix Marnya VII (who is known to be an extremely devout and pious woman of unbreakable faith and sometimes fanatical zealotry).

@Dark Cloud I see. However, I'd still rather keep this a mostly human setting with Mad Max levels of genetic mutation at the most.

@Jeddaven I should probably call it something like a chapter end or page break since that is what their purpose actually is, to give a break section that lets time jumps occur and world events take place. Although please elaborate on what you mean by this system would "gamify" the RP too much since I legit do not think it would gamify the RP any more than dividing it into sections as opposed to an endless run on chapter.

@Dark Cloud They should still be recognizably human, perhaps deformed or mutated a bit since I don't intent on letting something like Ghouls or Super Mutants in the RP at this time. Also, how ogre-like do you intend on them being? Are we talking Warhammer Ogres or like the big hillbilly dudes from Fallout 3 Point Lookout? A max of 3 generations have been born, 4 if you count the ones who are currently children, while inbreeding damage is severe, extreme damage would likely take longer than the time that has actually occurred, especially since you aren't solely doing parent/child or sibling couples (I'm assuming).

When the world burned to cinder and ash in the Inferno, nothing was spared. Civilization crumbled as nations entered a suicide pact of nuclear bombs, bio-weapons, chemical agents and all kinds of terrible weapons finally given over to their horrific destinies. But humanity endured, however it could. People came together to create new societies, to find some sort of stability in the wasteland among beasts, mutants and raiders. But legends, only spoken in forlorn whispers by the elders who were still alive before the Inferno of a place that managed to avoid the worst of the Inferno, where the lands weren't poisoned and the water was clear, and where the riches of the world that was still sat waiting for forgotten masters who would never return to claim them. They called it by a dozen false names as its true name has long been forgotten but every man and woman in the wasteland knows they are all the same place: Salvation. It was just a story for years as the last old world generation began to die off but now, as a new generation comes of age, societies and settlements have developed enough to ask if this mythical city is more than just the last story of a dying age.

Because now, they begin to seek it. The City on the Edge of the Horizon with riches and power untold; they seek Salvation.

So this is a plot bunny I've been sitting on for a better part of a week that I've finally decided to throw out into the world. Its about an El Dorado-like city that people are finally starting to move into local area and trying to uncover itself old world secrets. Some factions are here to scour the city for relics and wealth while others have come in to make a new home having been forced out of their old ones. Yet something is amiss as for all the wealth and ideal living area Salvation possesses, no one has yet to encounter any natives of the city, there is something deeply wrong and unnatural within Salvation, but its clarion call is simply too strong to stop people from wanting to come.

All PC factions will start with an Objective that is their driving directive and goal. All of the factions have also only recently moved into the city, all under a year (most to give everyone a fair-ish start). The Inferno that burned the world has happened some where between 50 to 70 years ago meaning right now we're 2-3 generation into the apocalypses but there are still fleeting memories of the old world that have begun to transform into new myths and legends. Stuff like airplanes being giant metal dragons, rockets being spears pointed at gods and ships being the size of mountains.

There will be a sort of "turn system" where in after everyone is done posting, a new "turn" will occur that can bring positive and negative events down on everyone or on specific factions as well as potentially diving deeper into the mysteries of the City on the Edge of the Horizon. Salvation itself was an urban area along the coast with mountains and forests surrounding it, it was a bit of an isolated city which is one of the reasons it was able to stave off most of the Inferno. There aren't going to be any strict stats or numbers though so don't worry about that. The whole theme of the RP is people trying to either explore deeper into Salvation or trying to make a new life here. If there's enough interest I'll throw in more info, an NS guide and a map later on. If you got any questions.

TL;DR - Post apoc groups find a location relatively untouched by the apocalypse and move in to either loot the surrounding area or try to make a new home in the surrounding area, conflict and hijinks ensues.

@Saix Sometime after the funeral. The tournament was originally supposed to be the inciting incident but I've decided to scrap that idea and try to push up the timeline a little. By some method, by the end of the free RP section, armies are going to start mustering and banners will be raised.

I have the next GM post ready and waiting. Everyone please either finish up any IC business you have or wait if you haven't posted quite yet. We will be moving into a Free RPing section for a bit. The original idea was that there would be a tournament held where Sharles would accidently be injured but his supporters would say it was an assassination attempt but honestly that might change. At any rate this is the last section before war breaks out!
