If you want to play both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I'd recommend trying out A Tale of Two Wastelands.

If they at least have the decency to say that they're leaving instead of simply ghosting the RP, that's good enough to me.

Bio

I originally got into forum roleplaying on the official Bethesda Game Studios Forums in 2007 or 2008. When the forums were replaced with Bethesda.net, I was one of several close-knit Fallout RPers who came here.

I know. I just have a bad habit of procrastinating. Sorry about that.
Fleuri Jodeau

Fleuri had anticipated an attack from Tyaethe but had not foreseen the lightning speed of it. He attempted to backstep away from the blow, but his dodge was only partially successful- the paladin's blow landed on one of his legs with surprising force, knocking him off-balance. The knight managed- just barely- to avoid falling on his back, but was left vulnerable as he scrambled to regain his footing. At this point he knew that Tyaethe had a clear shot at him, and he would be unable to properly defend.

Fortunately, Klaus had no intention of giving Tyaethe an opportunity to fell the unbalanced Fleuri, and rushed in to attack the paladin. He wasn't sure if Klaus was trying to help him or if she simply saw an opportunity, but he was grateful regardless. It was something of a weakness in Fleuri's technique that he struggled to rely upon and support others in combat- in the tournaments, there could be only one winner, and the enemy of your enemy was merely a problem to be dealt with further down the road. In the Iron Rose Knights, he would have to shed this attitude, and unlearn some of what he had become accustomed to when fighting.

I suppose there's no time to start doing so like the present.

As soon as he regained his bearings, he tightened his grip on his sword and took a step forward, swinging the large wooden weapon in a horizontal arc towards Tyaethe. If nothing else it'd hopefully prevent her from countering Klaus' blow.
Inquisitor Carver - Crater House

"That would be wonderful. It'd be nice to have something different from Island food for once," he replied. The island's unique cuisine wasn't bad by any means, but after years of subsisting on it, Ian relished the opportunity to try something else.

"And yes, it was me at the Lighthouse. I had just arrived on the mainland that very day." Ian answered the previous question. "Suffice to say, a great many things have happened over the last ten years after I left with Confessor Martin. We've had many boons, but many taxing trials as well. By Atom's grace, our difficulties have lessened in recent days, and we have been able to turn our attention to reconnecting with our brothers in the other congregations."

It had indeed been a hectic few years. The tensions with Far Harbor and Acadia, the loss of several faithful including Confessor Martin, and the everyday dangers of the Island had not been easy to bear, but with the blessings that Atom had granted them, such as DiMA's generous aid, conversion of the Enclave officer Brian Richter to the faith and the surprisingly tempered wisdom of High Confessor Tektus, their congregation had endured.

"Many things have happened. We found the island that Brother Martin sought out, a strange land covered by a fog imbued with Atom's glow. We found a home, an old nuclear submarine base, where we obtained weapons, armor, and shelter. Unfortunately, things did not go well with the locals. When Atom's fog waxed in strength, it drove the unbelieving and unblessed locals mad. Those that survived, protected behind technology that held back the fog, blamed us for the fog. One of these local fishermen, murdered one of our missionaries. Brother Martin was overcome with grief and departed to parts unknown to us. Zealot Tektus took the reins and held us together. In time, despite his initial indignation for this injustice, he made peace with the locals, and in time we began trading with them."

Ian had not expected Tektus to make peace- the High Confessor was initially a ruthless, indignant man who preached bringing division to Far Harbor and ordered the Zealots, Carver included, to carry out the unpleasant duty of culling the unfaithful from the flock. Fortunately, Tektus saw the error of his ways- no doubt inspiration from Atom- and became a temperate ruler who made peace and opened the congregation up to the outside world through Far Harbor.

"It has been trying, Brother Abraham, but it was an inspired and worthwhile journey. Someday, you ought to make a pilgrimage there to commune with Atom's saint, the Mother of the Fog."

As Klaus rushed in, Fleuri danced around, tightly gripping the massive wooden sword he had chosen. He was taken aback by Tyaethe's lack of armor- her childlike appearance was perplexing to say the least, but he knew better than to underestimate an opponent from their appearance.

His goal was to both get some room to swing his weapon and to flank Tyaethe- he and Klaus would be most effective if they attacked the paladin from different angles. Even in the likely event that she had seen and dealt with it before in her centuries of service, it would still be more effective than attacking directly alongside Klaus. Tyaethe's lack of armor would likely make her much quicker and more agile than with it, but the lack of weight would also work against her- physical strength was limited by one's ability to leverage it, and if struck by a great enough force, the waifish paladin would go flying off her feet all the same.
@Crimson Paladin For an idea of what you're now fighting. Except dressed more casually (still got a scarf of some description, though).

In Dark Souls terms, to have an idea what's coming, think dogs. :D

I guess we'll see if Fleuri can poise through it.
Fleuri Jodeau

As was the most likely outcome, Klaus' assault proved fruitless against Tyaethe. The paladin dodged the sword blow and withstood Klaus' attempt to imbalance her as nonchalantly as breathing- if she breathed at all. Evidently, two centuries of ageless service in a knightly order did wonders for one's reflexes. Having assessed there was no point in assisting Klaus or attempting to attack the paladin, he took his hand off his sheathed dagger.

"If you do not mind, Sir Tyaethe," he piped in, "Might I fetch my armor before sparring with you?" Even a wooden sword would be quite deadly in her hands, and after what he just observed, Fleuri wouldn't dare face her with anything less than full plate armor. And even then he would still be taking a risk sparring with her.
@Raineh Daze
Go ahead, Fleuri is content with watching and not making a fool of himself.
Fleuri Jodeau

Fleuri considered Tyaethe's challenge. I'm not exactly in a position to do so. Not with just a dagger, up against an immortal, inhumanly strong paladin with centuries of combat experience. On the other hand, fate does not not wait for us to be ready, we must always be ready to face it with whatever we have at hand. And with another at my side, we may be able to...

Fleuri's internal musing was cut off as Klaus answered for both of them and rushed in, sword in hand. He shook his head and sighed- there was a fine line between foolhardiness and decisiveness, a lesson his young colleague had clearly yet to learn. Foolish girl. We should have at least attempted to coordinate, not just rush in blindly. As daunting a foe as Tyaethe may be, cooperation would have made her a much more manageable opponent.

Seeing no point in rushing in, he gripped his dagger but stood in place- there was a good chance that this was a fight he could not win, and he had no desire to make a fool of himself. That wasn't to say he was simply giving up- he kept his eyes on the combatants and his hand on his dagger. It was too early to gauge whether this fight could be won or not, and if the opportunity presented itself, he would act on it. No doubt Klaus would be rather disappointed in his seeming hesitation, but better to risk her ire than make himself look like a massive fool to Tyaethe.

Fleuri narrowed his eyes, ready to commit to fight or flight the moment the choice ceased to be premature.

@Crimson Paladin So, now it's Fleuri's turn to join in? >:D

Yep. I'll get a post up soon.
Inquisitor Carver

The Inquisitor stood outside the Crater House, staring at the radstorm brewing, contemplating his options moving forward. He would need to take several actions. First, he would need to speak with Brother Abraham tomorrow, ask him about what he knows of the rumors, and what Brother Quaid said. Following this, he would interview more of the congregation depending on what he had learned, until he could put together a conclusive picture of what the situation was. Once he had that, he would be able to take the necessary measures to end the attacks, judge those involved, stamp out any erroneous or heretical doctrine being circulated, and set this flock on the correct path.

Once any problems or errors in doctrine were corrected, he would need to address the consequences of doing so to ensure the continued well-being of this flock. If the rumors of attacks were true, he would need to try and smooth things over and make peace with the locals and traders, which could potentially be rather difficult. He would also have to taking measures to ensure the flock would not to go back to raiding, which potentially meant punishing whoever was responsible and staying around to monitor things. All in all, he had his work cut out for him and he would not be returning to the island any time soon.

It was a lot to do, but for tonight, with the Children of Atom huddling from the wind and dust of the radstorm, Carver would need to get some well-needed rest.

The next day

Carver rose from his mattress in one of the crater shacks. He was rested, the storm had passed, and he had been able to reflect on what he had seen and heard. It was time for the Inquisitor to get some answers. The first thing he would need to do would be to reacquaint himself with Brother Abraham, for both the business of gaining information and for the pleasure of catching up with an old associate. In addition, Abraham appeared to be rather respected in the crater, and to earn his confidence may help build bridges with the others.

Donning his armor but not his mask, Carver made his way across the crude catwalks to Abraham's crater shack and stepped inside. There is a time and place for donning the mask and being the Inquisitor, he reasoned, but this was a time for showing his face and just being Ian.

"Brother Abraham? It's me, Ian, from Megaton," he introduced himself, throwing his arms out in welcome. "I haven't seen you since I left Megaton with Confessor Martin."

"How have you been faring during these years, brother?" he asked, leaning against a ramshackle wall.
