@ONL One question actually! Are you accepting certain experience bonuses based on professions? I remember in past editions, if you were, say, a military veteran or a police officer, you wouldn't lose sanity at the site of a dead body. Is it the same in this edition, or does it work differently now?
Oh no rush on my part. Stats are just important for figuring out what occupations work or not. Don't want to be an ugly Cult Leader, after all~
We were talking about a different type of CoC and you know it @Yankee

But sure, let me just find that rulebook full of backgrounds I had lying around somewhere and think up something.

EDIT: We good with rolling our stats now?
Michael Ongi
Tsushima Diver Services, Main Lobby

Lounging at one of the seats in the lobby, Michael yawned as he counted his cash once more, flipping through his finances via his UNIT. Throughout this month, he's been hitting nothing but financial slumps, just barely paying his monthly dues. A cold sweat dripped down from his forehead, almost betraying his otherwise cool demeanor as he shut his UNIT off and slumped deeper into his chair with a sigh. If he didn't find any sort of high-paying dive soon, he's sure those damn thugs will come knocking again tonight! Michael took a deep breath, and silently prayed for a miracle.

His prayers were quickly answered in the strangest of ways after hearing the loud cries of the disenfranchised youth coming from the reception area. The phrase that the young Diver exclaimed was like heresy to Michael's ears. What do you mean it's not about the money? Michael thought to himself, silently pitying the young soul. It's all about the money! Michael's attention was grabbed by the boy as his eyes silently followed his path of desperation. The more he looked at the kid's urgent begging for help, the more Michael could see a younger version of himself during the days he first started Diving...

... And as he watched the boy get rejected by each person he asked for help, a scheme had slowly concocted in Michael's head. One that he would execute just as the boy would seem to give up.

"Yo, kid!" Michael called the boy over, standing up and picking up his sheathed Cross Gear, slinging it on his shoulder with a quick flourish. "You're the one that said money doesn't matter to ya, right? Then I'll help you out... so long as there's a cash reward and I get the biggest cut. Sounds good?"

Michael did not care about the apparent dangers that accompanied the boy's offer, his mind filled with nothing but monetary notes. Rushing headlong into danger for the promise of a reward was something Michael had already grown accustomed to, after all.

I was mad at myself for not realizing the parallels sooner.
Faceclaim updated, and with a few minor changes to Michael's equipment and character in general. Made his special targeting thingy like VATS from Fallout. Hit that like button if everything's still fine to port over.

Forgive me, but the GM mentioned that he's looking for characters up to Gilgamesh's power level (not that I'm using him for power explicitly), which naturally includes Gilgamesh himself. You banning overpowered characters in a roleplay about overpowered characters makes the premise of this story very confusing to say the least.

Otherwise, say I pick Arjuna and still get banned because he too is too powerful (being just a sliver weaker than Gil) and so and so forth until we are down to the level of normal Servants again.

This smells kinda like false advertisement for me.

I feel like this argument is made in bad taste when talking about Gilgamesh specifically when we are talking about Servants. Most Servants are limited to a certain theme that keeps them balanced with the rest in some way. This compatibility keeps even the strongest Servants around the same balance as weaker Servants since they are limited around a certain theme. Many Servant fights are scored by compatibility, in this case.

Gilgamesh on the other hand is one of those outliers that can easily be abused due to his signature Noble Phantasm breaking that balance by having a Noble Phantasm that essentially breaks the rule of compatibility. Even though Gate of Babylon is stated to not have specific Noble Phantasms within its vault, there's still the fact that it has an answer to essentially everything else, and smarter players can easily play around his restrictions and win a Grail War with ease. In other words, compatibility is essentially thrown right out the door.

This is why Gilgamesh works well in normal written with his personality in mind, but terrible in works where writers aren't cooperating with each other, like in the case of a roleplay. There's also the fact that the main GM mentioned that the power has been scaled down slightly to "Cu-to-Artoria/tier"

Well, I said I can pick something else if really needed to, but since Gil was name dropped as the kind of character this RP is looking for, I couldn't not mention him.

Sincerely, it's kind of bad taste to allow personal opinion get in the way of GMing, especially when it's the kind of opinion that goes like: "I had a bad time playing with someone who used a certain character in the past, therefore everyone who does the same character will be bad as well". Assuming the worst of people just because you had bad experiences in the past is a very rude thing.

I suppose I did word that wrong. By personal experience, I really mean I've actually written material involving Gilgamesh in the past, rather than had a bad experience with someone else roleplaying him.

That said, knowing exactly what he is capable of in a roleplay (including his personality in mind), I can't in good conscience allow him in a roleplay with multiple people involved having different stories to be told, and different approaches to those stories.
I'd personally want to avoid Gilgamesh due to past experiences with him, but I'll defer to @Anakin for the ultimate decision.
