History

An only child, Walker was raised with lordship in mind. He paged and squired for Lord Franklyn Lolliston in Spiderwood in his teen days, spending many years away from Deepbank. He met Priscilla Ryger in passing once or twice but never spoke, and became infatuated with the girl, but it was decided that he would wed Rosamund Lolliston, eldest daughter of Lord Franklyn.

Walker returned to Deepbank aged 18, a knight. He discovered from his maester that he had fertility problems and struggled to concieve a child, but, aged 25, eventually managed to sire one son; Symon. Despite growing to have affection for his wife in his own way, Walker's obsession with Priscilla overpowered his relationship. When he learned that Edwyn Landry married her, he was furious, and it greatly contributed to his lasting hatred for the man.

Rosamund became pregnant with a second child ten years after Symon's birth, but fell sick during pregnancy and passed before she could give birth. This left Walker with Symon, a cowardly, unskilled boyn as his only heir, which continued to pile on to the fire that was his hatred. Walker's attitude in the years that followed would be bitter and unkind.

Personality

Walker is known to be bitter and cruel, going out of his way to make those he dislikes suffer, and holding grudges for decades. No grudge of his is more potent than his with House Landry. The families have always hated eachother, but Walker particularly detests Lord Edwyn. His code of honour is typically fairly resolute, but some claim that he fled from a battlefield during Robert's Rebellion, which has led to his enemies mockingly naming him 'the Cowardly Riverlord'. His wife fifteen-years dead, and his son a disappointment to him, he is often frustrated and aggressive in attitude. Nonetheless, he cares first and foremost about the legacy of his family, and it's safety.

Walker is stern-faced and cold-eyed, with icy blue irises. His face is weathered, but strong and rigid. His receding hair is a greying brown, and his bear is almost fully grey. He stands at 6'2 and has a fairly strong build. He typically wears armour.

Robert was born a bastard. The son of Ser Gregor Landry (brother of Lord Lothor Landry) and a Northern woman living in the Riverlands, his start to life was difficult. His mother died during childbirth and Gregor had no interest in rearing a child, leaving him to the life of an orphan. Gregor died six years later, but told Lothor of his bastard on his deathbead. Lothor found Robert and took him back to Fallow Hill, asking the keep's houndmaster, Allyn, to take the child and raise him as his own. Always fiercely loyal to the family, Allyn accepted. When Lothor died, Lord Edwyn often watched over the boy, feeling a responsibility for his safety.

Growing up, Robert had little to remind him of his birth parents beyond a lone earring and a black, stone dagger his mother had on her when she died, which Gregor had given to Lothor on his deathbed. Unfortunately, only one of the earrings was found. Robert has worn it since his early days and continues to do so.

Growing up as the houndmasters son meant Robert developed an affinity for animals. He would spend nights with the dogs, often more than he would spend in his room. Allyn would often find the young boy curled up with the sleeping dogs with a smile stretched wide across his face.

Over the years Allyn shared a wealth of knowledge with Robert. While he would be considered being in his twilight years, Allyn had experienced a lot. He knew how to dress wounds, build shelters and to survive off the land. This knowledge and a want of leaving a legacy meant Allyn would often take Robert out into the nearby woods for camping. It was during this time he shared his vast wealth of knowledge with the young lad.

During his twelfth year Lord Edwyn had guests from a House he was trying to build bonds with. Having a good relationship with Allyn he offered to take Robert hunting. Allyn’s initial judgement was to turn down the offer, but Robert convinced him otherwise.

The hunt went well initially, Lord Edwyn taking down a buck that drew close to a horse in size. However Lord Edwyn and Robert soon found themselves separated from the hunting party as they entered thick woodland. Out of seemingly nowhere a large boar charge Lord Edwyn, his horse bucking the Lord of House Landry to the floor. With an injured leg and shoulder Lord Edwyn could do little more than try to crawl to safety. The boar rounded a tree before turning to charge the Lord. As it closed Robert rushed to the Lords fallen bow and picked it up. He quickly botched an arrow and let it loose. The arrow dropping the boar to the floor. Lord Edwyn broke into laughter while Robert simply stared at the weapon in his hands.

He had never fired a bow until that moment but Lord Edwyn saw to it that Robert had all the practise he could want. While Allyn was frustrated his adopted son wasn’t helping tend to the dogs so much, he completely understood. Robert was never going to be the sort who could sit in the castle every day cleaning up the dogs mess and feeding them. He needed to be outside the walls and set free.

Soon Edwyn gifted Robert his own bow and allowed him to join hunts, not just as an extra pair of hands to carry gear but as an active participant. The quality of his marksmanship grew with every pull of the bowstring, often causing the others on the hunt to watch on in sheer jealously. Edwyn laughed as he watched the faces of middle aged man twist in anger as they watched a young child make shots they couldn’t make in a thousand attempts. It was becoming clear to Edwyn that Robert was a rare talent. His skills with a bow set him out as one of the best archers, not just in the Riverlands but all of Westeros.

As Robert grew older so did Lord Edwyn’s own children. While Edwyn made time for his bastard nephew, his focus had to be his own children. As such he allowed Robert to start hunting on his own. This meant that his duties to Allyn soon faded into nothingness and the boy who was now in his sixteenth year was hunting to put food onto the Landry’s table.

During his twentieth year he was approached Lord Edwyn. He was asked to undertake a new role in servitude to the people. An increase in livestock theft in the Landry’s lands were making life hard for the lords people. As such he asked Robert to use his skill set to patrol House Landry’s lands and to track down the thieves. It wasn’t long before Robert found them and soon enough the lands of House Landry were a little bit safer. Due to his quick and efficient work Edwyn bestowed the title of Ranger onto Robert. His new task would be to wander the Landry lands and to deal with any criminals or dangerous wildlife he came across.

Until six months ago his job was standard. Petty criminals, large boar and the rare bear were what he encountered. However when walking close to the border with House Haigh Robert heard a blood curdling scream. Instinctly he ran towards the wail and discovered two Haigh soldiers trying to have their way with a woman. His one rule set out by Lord Edwyn was to avoid conflict with House Haigh, no matter the cost. The problem was Roberts conscience overruled even the word of his Lord. Without any defining attire that could tie him back to House Landry Robert quickly scooped up some wet mud in an attempt to hide his face. He raised his hood and took his bow in hand. He quickly unleashed two arrows, dropping the two soldiers dead.

The woman looked on in horror as Robert approached, her ordeal turning the world upside down. He spend a while trying to calm her down and reassure her before finally he could convince her to her get on his horse and show him the way to her village.

By this point Robert was firmly in Haigh territory and soon enough he found himself entering a run down village that didn’t look fit for human inhabitance. Human filth and animal carcasses lined the streets and the populace looked malnourished. The sight was a far cry from the life the villagers under House Landry had.

Robert eventually returned the woman to her father and they told him exactly what life was like under the poorly-disciplined Haigh rule. Soldiers would come and antagonize the village men for their own entertainment, take the women as they pleased and leave nothing but a few scraps of stale bread for the villagers to eat. The story filed an anger deep within Robert. Haigh land or not, these were people and they deserved better.

Over the next few days Robert set about helping the villagers, firstly by getting them some coin. With help and information from the village elder he discovered a caravan was to be on the road with a mountain of coin on board. Robert wanting to what he could to help set about taking the caravan.

Given the nature of Lord Haighs reign it was clear to Robert that the man felt he had nothing to fear and the Ranger decided to change that. When Robert approached the caravan under cover of darkness he had donned a mixture of white and black paint on his face to give himself an otherworldly appearance. The caravan showed Lord Haighs confidence as three men was all that guarded its treasure. With two quick arrows fired only one man remained, frozen still by the skewered men either side of him. Robert leapt onto the caravan and threw the surviving man to the ground before finally bringing the caravan to a stop.

Robert pinned the man to the floor with his boot and meant down, bearing his teeth like a wild animal. He growled as deeply as he could, watching on as the guard soon found himself lying in pool of his own urine. He had clearly bought what Robert was selling and so the Ranger let him go to tell Lord Haigh his story. Quickly after Robert took the chest from within the caravan and returned to the village. He didn’t speak to a soul but simply left several coins at each doorstep before returning to Fallow Hill.

Over the following months Robert returned three more times to inflict more misery on Haigh turf. Soon enough word crossed into Landry territory about a vigilante that had killed several Haigh soldiers. The stories were heavily exaggerated and whenever Robert would bear one he would laugh. However, he knew that if it was ever discovered that he was the vigilante in question then the outcome for him and possibly the whole region could become bleak. If anyone was to discover a bastard of the House Landry was killing Haigh men, it would not bode well for Lord Edwyn.

Personality: Those who meet Robert are often greeted with a smile. He is often easy going and enjoys exchanging banter and jibes with others. Even during times of high stress or trauma he can often be found trying to lighten the mood.

His sarcastic nature is one of his defining features that those who know him have learned to love. However those who don’t know him don’t always react the best to his sarcasm.

He isn’t a noble in any respects and has a dislike for the rich in the world. The only exception is Lord Edwyn who he has a lot of respect for. He would fight for the Lord if needed as he would for anyone he cares for.

While not a conscious decision Robert takes in his surroundings very well. He can spot people acting strange in a crowd and the quickest exit when inside. It’s just something he started doing subconsciously soon after he began his life of looking after the poor.

Mount and Raven: Shadow and Wight are Roberts horse and crow. Shadow has been Robs horse since his twenty first year while Wight is a raven. Wight was a raven used by Maester Oylen that had a damaged wing; Robert helped nurse it back to health, and the animal bonded with him. He now uses it to send messages back to the castle when away.

Bow: The Scythe is a short bow that Robert crafted himself. It’s designed to allow Robert to notch and fire arrows quickly while being sturdy enough so that it can survive a hit to a persons head. He utilises various heads on his arrows, switching between them depending on the opponent he faces.

Dagger: Wolfbite is fairly large dagger that appears to be made from a stone rather than metal. It’s deep black blade is terrifyingly sharp and exceptionally strong.

The youngest of three siblings, Liliana was succeeded by two older brothers – Rodrik and Bastian, who were 4 and 2 years her elders, respectively. Although she was only a girl, Liliana was doted on by both her mother and father. Their family was a happy one and the three young Blackwoods spent their early childhood peacefully. Liliana was particularly fond of her father and would follow him around, so much so that he took to nicknaming her his ‘little shadow.’ Growing up with two older brothers as models of behaviour, Lily was a rambunctious child, always wanting to play with them and sulking when not allowed to handle a wooden sword or practice bow. Her mother tried feverently to get her actually try in her lessons with their septa, but the only things she ever really liked were dancing and reading (though she mostly prefered the adventure tales).

Sadly their happiness was not to last. When Liliana was nine, her father became sick and although her uncles sent for many different maesters, none could figure out what ailed him. He fought against it well though and lingered on for two long years before eventually drifting away with the help of milk of the poppy.

Although her mother was still around, she was not the same after the death of Howard Blackwood. She eventually remarried out of necessity, needing gold to help keep their home afloat and having children still too young to be of much help. But her husband was old, drunk and foul-tempered. No match for a beloved father and husband. Barely entering society anymore and often needing to take to her sickbed, her mother became a shell of her former self. Liliana became furious at her – for abandoning her and leaving her to the charge of a man who cared little for any of the children. At first he would often try to run away, though she was ultimately just a child and never managed to get very far before they caught her.

When she was thirteen, a girl by the name of Ariella Landry came to live with them at Raventree hall. Set to be married to her eldest brother Rodrik, who by this time was close to reaching the status of Knight, she spent two years with the family, who overall seemed to be fond of the girl. Yet Lilianas world was turned upside down once more, when her dear brother Rodrik was killed during a joust. With Bastian off squiring with the Lollistons, she took to spending much of her time with Tytos Blackwoods children. Her mother became even more absent and her husband more angry.

It soon became generally agreed that Lily was of an age where she should make a suitable marriage, and with the failed union between Blackwoods and Landrys still hanging over their shoulders, it was decided that she was to be bethrothed to their second son. Once she would have fought against such a proposal but although she loved Raventree Hall and her uncles family, she was afraid of her mothers new husband and was now grieving for two of her kin. So six months ago, she went...with only a few grumbles of complaint.

On the surface, Liliana is enthusiastic and bold. Quick to laugh, she is sociable with mostly everyone she meets, not finding it difficulty to get along with others. A natural extrovert, she does not like to be alone and can often be easily distracted from the task at hand. This behaviour even extends to servants and she will often find herself joking around with the stablehands or serving girls.

She is always toeing the line of what she can get away with, gently testing others boundaries. Of course, this doesn't come without its risks and she often finds herself in trouble. Luckily for her, she can talk herself out of nearly any situation. That or shoot them one of her renowned (at least amongst the Blackwood family) 'please don't kill me' smiles.

Liliana also has a love for animals and can often be found feeding the dogs or brushing the horses. She also has a fondness for birds, which may in part be due to the thousands of ravens that would flock to the dead weirwood at Raventree hall. Being with animals has become a solace to her during the mourning of both her father and brother, having few others to go to at this time.

Yet, despite the air of nonchalance that she likes to give of, she does worry about her future and this new role she has been thrust into. After having watched her parents be in love for many years, she fears being in a loveless marriage and dreams of being whisked off on some grand adventure, rather than submitting to the dreary duties of a Lady.

At 5'4 in height, Liliana is slightly below average for a female of her age...though that's nothing that standing on her tiptoes can't fix. A skinny child, only recently over the past year has she begun to grow into her body, developing the so desired after curves, though still maintaining a rather lithe figure. As she grows, she is often compared to the renowned Melissa Blackwood, which only serves to amuse Liliana, given Melissas history.

She has a mess of long brunette hair that she wears in varying styles, from curls, to plaits, to braids. Having her hair done was one of the few times she would voluntarily sit down as a child and as she got older, she loved to plait her younger nieces hair. Lily has a few freckles smattered across the bridge of her nose and cheeks, which are only accentuated by the pale ivory of her skin. Her eye colour is a deep brown colour.

As a female, she is generally expected to where simple dresses when at home, though will get dressed up more formally when required. She genrally prefers not to wear much jewellrey on a day-to-day basis.

Liliana had only known a little of Edwyn and his family prior to her becoming a ward of theirs. Although she has yet to have much interaction with the Lord, he has been respectful and welcoming to her so far. Despite being much quieter, his duty towards his people reminds her of her own father, which she appreciates. Still a newcomer to his home, she has been uncharacteristically formal to him so far, though hopes she will be able to share a few more words with him in the future.

On initially meeting Lady Landry, Lilliana could not help but feel a bit intimidated by her fierce loyalty towards her family. However, providing such a stark contrast with her own mother, Lilliana has begun to warm towards Priscilla, although they have not yet had many chances to get to know one another.

Although Ariella did live with the Blackwoods at Raventree Hall for two years, Liliana only really saw her as Rodrik’s betrothed at the time and mostly left the two alone. That, or teased Rodrik mercilessly about it. They did share a few conversations and moments together however, and Liliana liked her well enough. She hopes to get to know her better now she has moved to Fallow Hill, particularly because she is the only sister amongst a family of boys.

Morgain unfortunately disappeared before Lilliana came to Fallow Hill, therefore she has never met the once heir. Naturally, she had heard talk of Morgain and his father amongst some of the other noble families and knows that he was generally viewed as a promising and charismatic leader. She feels sorrow for the Landry family that they have lost one of their own, knowing herself too keenly what that feels like.

It is bewildering to Lilliana how much people start to tell you about someone once you are betrothed to them. But she is trying to refrain judgement until she can get to know more about him. As of yet, the few conversations they have had have mostly been formalities and polite enquiries, however she is keen to get past that and to actually find out more about him. She does fear what will happen if they don’t get along but isn’t one to dwell too much on this. He is also very tall.

As William left to squire with the Redforts long before she arrived at Fallow Hill, Liliana has never met the boy. She does hope that she’ll be able to meet him one day as he sounds similar in many ways to her brother Bastian.

Lilliana has not had much opportunity to talk to the youngest Landry as of yet, however he has been pleasant enough to her so far. Apart from the occassional prank...for which she has sworn to get revenge. As the baby of her own family, she knows that it is like to be overshadowed by your siblings and has a suspicion that they are likely to get along. Or at least she hopes.

Once again, the man is basically a stranger to her. New to the family and having little excuse to go into the training yard, she has had few reasons to talk to him on a day-to-day basis. He seems commited to the Landry family though and a good master-at-arms, for which Lilliana feels must earn him a degree of natural respect.

They have had little in way of interaction so far, however he seems to be amiable and easy to get along with. She appreciates someone who can joke around and not always take everything seriously. Other than that, she is unsure how much of a relationship they will have but is open to getting to know him. She also hopes that he will allow her to pet his crow one day.

Baldric, the second son to Addison Durant, a minor noble and sworn bannerman to House Bolton and House Stark was born in 257 during the reign of King Aegon V. Baldy fondly recalls his father saying good things about King Aegon V, how he was an outstanding leader; did great things for Westeros, unlike his grandson, Aerys II, also known as the Mad King.

There had been discussion of sending young Baldric to wear the black. Innumerable reasons prevented that from happening. As a youth, Baldric trained as a soldier and assisted Ser Arthur Smallwood, his father’s Master-at-Arms. He studied with Lord Smallwood regularly and kept a keen eye on the man. Destined to be a warrior, he was given the best training a soldier could receive and eventually hardened to its rigors.

From age 9, Baldric was reared at the Twins by Walter Frey and his brood. Baldric never was at a loss for a playmate in the Riverlands. He continued his education while at the Twins, returning to Castle Durant upon reaching his 16th season to serve his father. He completed his military training under Arthur Smallwood's tutelage.

During his 23rd Season, Baldric Durant impregnated a prostitute at the brothel outside Winterfell. He had no love for the woman, but had a deep bond with his son, Mace Snow. He wanted nothing but to raise his son as a lord in his own house. The woman who gave birth to his son was more than happy to giver her own child away. He told Mace his son was a whore, but nothing more. Mace has since stopped asking questions about her.

By the time of Robert’s Rebellion, House Durant responded to the call by Lord Stark. Baldric was then in his 24th season, quite comfortable in his role as a soldier. He strove to do his best and make his father proud. A strapping young man grown to a towering height at 6’ 4”. Still not as tall as the boys from House Clegane, but could put up a memorable fight to anyone including the likes of the Cleganes.

During the Battle of the Bells the lines between the Bolton’s bannermen and the Tully’s men had gotten mixed which found noblemen and soldiers of House Durant fighting alongside noblemen and soldiers of House Landry. At the high point of the fighting, Baldric found three Targaryen soldiers attempting to corner a single man wearing the colors of House Tully. The Tully man, who he later learned was Edwyn Landry himself, eventual heir to Fallow Hill; had gotten himself into a precarious position. Baldric jumped into the melee dispatching one attacker immediately with a thrust from his Shriefk into the heart of his enemy. A second soldier, Baldric sent reeling backward from a heavy front kick. The man stumbled backwards falling to the ground. The third man went round and round with Baldric until the large Durant soldier wearing Stark colors severed his left arm causing the man to retreat. The second man, who was knocked back decided he hadn’t had enough and charged into Ser Baldric Durant. The man stumbled forward, tripping over one of his fallen comrades. Baldy helped him to the ground, obliging him with a heavy thrust to the abdomen with his sword, ending the brief melee. Ever since that day, Baldric Durant and Edwyn Landry have been the best of friends.

Continually being confronted with taking the black, Baldric saw an opportunity to follow his friend, Edwyn back to the Riverlands. Instead of a dreary life of the frozen north and fighting Wildlings, he would live out his days as a warrior in farm country teaching young lads how to fight. When Lord Edwyn Landry offered him a position as Master-at-Arms at Fallow Hill, he felt as though he could not pass it up. This was the opportunity he had dreamed of. He has thanked his friend often, especially when intoxicated about how he saved him from the Night’s Watch. In a sense, they both saved each other.

Having used the sword more than any other weapon, Baldy possesses his highest skill in this weapon with and without a shield. He is disciplined possessing a fine talent with the edged weapon; a difficult opponent to defeat. As long as he has served as soldier, Baldric has been fighting with his fists and feet. He is not afraid to kick as well as punch. He has learned several unconventional methods of fighting with the hands and feet. Trained and experienced in how to deploy formations of men (of various arms) in combat and on the march. He knows how to use ground to his advantage as well as the use of siege weapons as a force multiplier.

Baldy is a quiet man with irascible tendencies. He has true respect for those who have proven themselves to him, which means the man survived combat by his side. Young, inexperienced people touting loud boastful comments are annoying to Baldric. He is quick to explode in their faces if they annoy him too much. For the most part, Baldric says nothing. Baldy is extremely loyal to the family he serves. The sons and daughters of his lord are treated with the respect he would give his own children.

He is very pensive, spending much time with his thoughts. He has a high intelligence; maybe in another world, he could have achieved social greatness, but not in the known world. He was born into a family of warriors, excelling at the martial arts. When thrust into combat, his firm sinews are quick to react. Baldy becomes animated slashing through waves of opponents.

Baldric loves spirits. He will drink ale on a daily basis with meals. He may even drink wine if that is all that is available but loves his rum. It is an addiction with him, forced to consume large quantities of alcohol whenever possible or the opportunity arises. On the plus side, Baldric is a happy drunk. He will sing, dance, laugh, joke and yell when he is drunk. His tendency to be irascible, gruff, fierce, or abusive are mitigated by his alcohol consumption. It is like someone flipped his “I don’t give a fuck” switch and he becomes much easier to get along with. He is quite the opposite what you typically see, singing, yelling and making a complete arse of himself. He enjoys fighting while intoxicated. It is such a refreshing experience for Baldric; quite liberating.

For all his strengths Baldric has a few misgivings within his personality. He has seen a lot in his twenty-five years as a soldier. He has witnessed some of the harshest mistreatment of humans by men. In his younger years he could afford to make moral decisions about these actions, but over time he has grown accustomed to it and has found himself on more than a few occasions acting in a similar fashion. He can be very abusive with the enemy, prisoners or anyone who simply stands in his way.

Baldric is by nature a calm, cool and quiet individual speaking only when spoken to. When stirred to action, he is one of the fiercest warriors on the battlefield or in the pub. When his temper has been elevated, he attacks with reckless abandon striking out at targets of opportunity. Sometimes Baldric is slow to calm; to recover to baseline.

Baldy stands 6’ 4” (193cm) tall weighing 235 pounds (106.6kg) with very short dark brown hair and a short unkempt brown beard; shaves infrequently. His cold blue eyes are focused, cutting through the bullshit when he is presented with its stench. As a lord, Baldric can be seen wearing either the house colors of Landry or the house colors of Durant, which are a dark forest green and white. Upon a forest green doublet made of silk, he may proudly display the image of a white snow shrike from his former home in the north. Or he may wear the dull yellow of house Landry with its blue rodent emblazoned upon his chest.

As a veteran soldier, Baldy wears a mail surcoat with a studded leather jerkin over the mail and a 2” wide leather belt to cinch it together at the waist. He has taken to wearing a bearskin cloak over this armor on cold days and wears high hard black boots. He has a few small leather belt pouches tied to the belt. Upon his hands, he wears a pair of black leather gloves under mail gauntlets with steel bracers. Many nobles prefer the steel plate, but Baldy appreciates the dexterity he gains from wearing a bit lighter armor.

Baldric had come by a Valyrian Steel sword by way of an uncle on his mother’s side of the family. It is a slender blade with a gold pommel he has named, Shriek; a play on words with the house sigil. Baldy says he makes men shriek when he uses it on them.

⚜♫Lord Edwyn Landry♫⚜
Lord Edwyn is Baldy’s closest friend. Baldy is staunchly loyal to House Landry. He feels that Lord Edwyn saved him from taking the Black. If he hadn’t taken him back to Fallow Hill after the completion of Robert’s Rebellion, he would most certainly have headed to the wall to freeze. He is grateful for Lord Edwyn’s appointment of him to Master-at-Arms and will do whatever his lord tells him to do. He treats Lord Edwyn’s children with the respect they deserve as offspring for his lord.

Age 38. It’s complicated. Baldric wants to pay her the respect she deserves for her position in the house and he does, but her loose tongue does not set well with the traditional Northman. He wishes he could tell her to “shut the hell up from time to time,” but will not out of respect for her husband. Baldric vacillates on his relationship with Lady Priscilla.

Age 20 Lady Ariella is a precious gem to Ser Baldric Durant. He watched her grow up from a young lass to the woman she is today. He has admired her intelligence as well as her strength. His heart broke for her when her betrothed passed from the joust two years ago, but he is happy to have her back at Fallow Hill. Baldy is concerned about her appetite and gauntly appearance. He worries for her, telling her she needs to eat more and find a necessary diversion; at least while we wait for Morgain to return home.

⚜Morgain Landry⚜
Age 20 The young man has been missing for two years. Baldric respects his leadership and diplomacy skills. These require patience and the young man displayed a level of patience beyond his years when he was available on Fallow Hill. IF there was something Baldric could fault the young man was in focusing on his skills as a swordsman or archer. He just needed more practice. If diplomacy fails, you still need to know how to fight. Baldric believes the young man is dead. He does not want to tell the family this and will tell them the oppositive just to keep up hope.

⚜Ser Edmund Verner Landry ⚜
Age 18 Ser Edmund is the same age as his own son, Mace. The two are very close. Ser Baldric has the utmost respect for the son of his Lord. He makes no judgment about the boy’s philandering ways. He was/is the same way. The young lord is an excellent soldier and knows he will make his family proud.

Age 15. Will left for the vale when he was 12. Like his younger brother Ash, he really doesn’t know the young man that well. He would pay the respect any child of Lord Edwyn deserves if they were to encounter them again.

Age 14 Ashton can be impetuous in Ser Baldric’s opinion but is otherwise a very competent warrior. He is impressed with the young man’s skills. Ashton has developed his own unorthodox style of fighting. It works for the teen and Baldric encourages him to continue training in this style. It is not something he would teach others. Baldric wishes only the best for the young lad at Fallow Hill.

☯Liliana 'Lily' Blackwood☯
Age 17. Lily is a young woman who has been betrothed to Ser Edmund. He does not know the young woman very well and hopes she will make a worthwhile spouse for the young man. He respects her fiancé, but is willing to get to know her better before he passes judgement.

⚜Robert Rivers⚜
Age 25. Baldric appreciates Robert Rivers natural talent with the bow. He has trained with him for many years on stance, posture, string pull and aiming. The kid has taken to the bow quite well as one of the best archers in the world. Baldric considers young master Rivers as possibly taking over the House Landry Rangers, but someone needs to die for that to happen.

Personal Style: Ash is normally seen in a simple outfit, a simple white undershirt, usually collared which sits under a leather dueling jerkin that falls to about thigh level. The jerkin has three ties to keep it together and a matching leather belt goes around the waist. On his right shoulder is the Landry House sigil. A sword, custom built for his size is often on his left hip, in a hardened leather scabbard. The sigil of the house is engraved into both the hilt and scabbard. A matching dagger and dagger scabbard is on his right hip.

For Armor, Ashton wears a heavy plate breastplate, shoulder plates, and gauntlets. Underneath is a chain mail hauberk that reaches to his ankle. Over top of the breastplate is a sur-coat with the House Landry sigil and colors visible. Clasped to his pauldrons a yellow cloak completes the armor set, also emblazoned with the sigil of House Landry. For armor, think this with appropriate color changes.

Personality: Ashton is an interesting enigma of a teenager. He's filled with the classic Teenage angst and attitude yet he tempers it with an intelligence beyond his years. Always willing to learn something new, the boy has a knack for staring and absorbing various activities should he ever have to do the task himself. A firm believer in knowledge being ones best weapon Ash spends a lot of time reading, and shows a maturity beyond his years as he understands how the 'game' is played and what the risks of his words. He has struggled with anxiety for some time and as it goes against his nature of being the 'perfect' son he started training in the practice field with sword and shield when not in the library. Ash developed a style of his own with Baldric, the Master of Arms, whom he opened to about his struggles. He developed this style by watching countless practice bouts in the yard of Fallow Hill, and it relies on using his opponents attacks against them, feinting and outsmarting his opponents into making mistakes that he can capitalize on. Like with his other activities it's his 'true sight' that allows him to perform with this style so well, able to truly observe every move his opponent is making and foresee their next moves based on previous information. The result is a very defensive and very calculating game of cat and mouse, that is until Ashton figures out his opponents fighting style. At that point it's usually to late.

All in all Ashton is a teenager in the midst of many changes. He's dealing with trying to keep his family supported, and to perfect his own duties which he's still trying to figure out. He's a mess of anxiousness, tempered by a Master-At-Arms who has taught the young man to forge that anxiety instead into positive energy and to attack the world with boldness instead. You never know what to truly expect from him when you pass him in the hall and even though he's mature for his age he will still break down when he feels overwhelmed and required a sincere support system. He may hate it, and will never show said weakness unless he trusts the person unconditionally.

History

History: Born amidst a dreary and rainy autumn day, Ashton Landry was a ray of sunshine to the otherwise dreary year that had passed for House Landry. The fourth born child to Edwyn, and Priscilla Landry. He was raised in the Halls of his family and grew up rather happily and led a relatively normal life, despite being a little spoiled by the servants who loved the youngest child dearly, even giving him the nickname 'little otter' which he despises to this day. Most of his early childhood included swimming, school, exercises, and sleeping. But when he was eight the Maester that was attached to Fallow Hill felt that he would do better learning from more advanced lessons as the child was grasping and understanding lessons at a rapid fire pace. Tutors were called for and Ash found himself learning about just about every aspect of the world around him, including his place within it. As the fourth born child, it was highly unlikely that he would ever become heir to the House and as such his training was mostly catered to supporting his older siblings.

Ashton flourished in the more stressful learning atmosphere, impressing his teachers with his desire to soak in information. He was found to have an exceptional memory when he was able to tell the Maester, who he was schooling with, exactly how many paintings were in the Great Hall and Library, as well as what the pictures were. With this revelation he was hailed as a sure candidate for the Citadel Ashton quickly showed his feelings about being moved from his home and became a bit more rebellious, retreating from the public eye and only appearing to eat, or cause trouble. He spent much more time in the training ground with Baldric Durant, where he developed his own style of fighting, using his brain more than his brawn. He enjoyed a connection with Baldric, and the man was his go to for advice on how to navigate his swirling personality, and always strived to perform his best when the man was around. He also became a charmer in the halls of Fallow Hill, doing his best to make the young ladies who visited go crazy and go home thinking of the brown haired boy in the Riverlands who stole their heart.

Nothing ever came of these games however and as Ashton entered his teenage years and puberty, he was still not promised to any marriage alliance. A much more silent figure in his early teenage years, the lack of a real friend his age made him all the more bookish as he would spend every waking moment reading or training.

He's decided that now is the time to try and find others his age and develop some bonds of friendship, as it was never good to live a life of solitude.

Thoughts on the current situation of the realm: Ashton feels that the entire seven Kingdoms are about to enter a period of warfare unlike anything seen since Robert's Rebellion and he knows that the Riverlands will be as always, stuck in the middle.

As Ashton’s father, Edwyn holds a special place in the young man’s heart and mind. He loves the man, and can understand a bit of his mannerisms. He holds no ill will for the more aloof standing of raising that Edwyn has done but as such doesn’t count him as one who has shaped his younger years. Ashton usually sides with his mother as well, and has recently had a habit of rejecting all potential Knights that have seeken to taken the rather skilled Landry boy on as a squire. This has put a bit of strain on the already rough relationship. Secretly, Ash wants to hear the praise from the man and -does- want to make him proud, which has attributed to his perfectionist attitude.

☮Priscilla Landry☮
Ashton’s mother, Priscilla is a figure whom Ashton cares for deeply. He knows he loves her but he also feels like he had to be his best when he’s around her. He’s the baby of the family and he tries to retain a relationship with his mother and goes out of his way to make sure she’s having a good day. He leans towards her side on many things when it comes to Edwyn but more than anything just tries to let her know that everyone appreciates what she does for them and the House as a whole. She’s one of the three primary female influences on his life.

One of Ashton’s best friends at Fallow Hill happens to be his big sister Ella. Ashton loves her dearly and holds her closer than most of his brothers. She’s the one with whom he can let down his guard and who he runs to when he feels overwhelmed, as she understands and doesn’t judge. She has been a huge influence on his life and when she left to marry it was truly a hard time for the youngest Landry. It’s hard for him to imagine where he would be without Ella and counts her as a secondary mother figure instead of just a sister.

☮Morgain Landry☮
Morgain was always a lot like father, a figure that was easily respected and looked upon as an idol by Ashton. He was surprised when the heir took such an interest in his youngest brother and the long, deep conversations are still some of the fondest memories Ashton has of his oldest brother. Morgain was easier to talk to and much easier to attach himself to and for that fact became Ash’s de facto father figure when Edwyn stuck to the shadows. Ash counts a lot of his current personality to be shaped by Morgain and wishes to see him return greatly.

The loss of Morgain was hard on Ashton, as he had basically lost the primary male role model of his life. He drifted a bit in depression but Edmund was his saving grace. His second oldest brother didn’t give Ash a chance to wallow and if anything stepped into the shoes of role model with perfection. He did it better than even Morgain, taking Ash on hunts and training with him constantly after Ash started working in the training yard that is. A true bond is between them and Ash would do -anything- Edmund asked of him, regardless of what it was. He knows that the newly Knighted young man is protective of him as well and while that would usually frustrate Ashton to no end, with Edmund he appreciates it and returns the favor.

☮/§Willam Landry☮/§
The only sibling with which Ashton has a more tense relationship with. Wil and Ash were natural rivals growing up as they were quite close in age. This was compounded by the fact that Ashton seemed to grasp things faster than Wil and Ash -never- stopped rubbing it in the other boys face. Deep down the games were just that, and Ash has a sincere love of his brother which he has let be known as well. He helped tutor Wil in subject where he struggled and while the two of them always played pranks on each -other- when they joined forced they were a holy terror that no one was safe from. Willam was the only real child Ashton’s age and when he left for the Vale, it left Ash feeling quite alone. The two are much closer now that there isn’t constant competition but the tense atmosphere returns when Wil comes home and tries to spar.

⚜Baldric Durant⚜
Ser Baldric has been a constant imposing figure in Ashton’s life, ever since he was a young boy. He spent most of his early childhood away from the man as he didn’t really understand him. As he’s reached adolescence however he’s come to see Baldric in a new light. He respects the warrior and the man's understanding of true battle and technically owes Baldric his own life since if it wasn’t for the northerner, Edwyn would probably have died and Ash may not exist. Beyond that, Ashton entered a rather dark time in his life with anxiety and it was Baldric that ‘saved’ him. Ash had entered the training ground like a wounded puppy and had opened up to the hard but fair man. Baldric taught Ash to hone his anxiety into a strength instead of a weakness and the boldness that Ashton can have at times is a testament to the Master-At-Arm’s teachings.

☯Liliana Blackwood☯
Ashton doesn’t really know a whole lot about the Blackwood other than that she’s to be family. He’s polite and pleasant to her, though he has introduced her to the pranks that he plays and gets away with due to being the baby of the family. He finds her to be quite an enjoyable personality and is looking forward to getting to know her more in the future. She does get extra points for having to deal with Edmund.

⚜Mace Snow⚜
As the best friend to Edmund, Ash has trained with and had quite a few discussions with Mace. While not really friends due to the age age, Ashton appreciates how close Mace and Edmund are and it’s been a way of proving that a noble didn’t have to only be friends with other nobles. He’s tailored his own friendship with Axell Deddings in the same way as Edmund has with Mace.

☯Robert Rivers☯
Ash doesn’t know Robert very much at all but has heard all of the stories surrounding the riverlands bastard. A true talent with the bow, and an exceptional Ranger, and of course the story of 12 year old Robert saving Edwyn from a boar. He has no reason to distrust the man and as such just gives him the respect he is due and that’s that. He appreciates the loyalty shown to his family. However, with all of that being said he doesn’t trust the man entirely and actually has a sincere dislike of how easily he seems to speak to his father. Jealousy at its finest.

♫Axell Deddings♫
When Willam left for the Vale it left a hole in Ash’s social life. Wil was -much- better at talking to people and Ash always felt awkward when trying to make new friends or even speak to someone his own age. The only exception to this rule is Axell, who had always been a companion to the young Landry. Axell graduated from companion to best friend with Wil’s departure and Ash has grown rather close to the red headed boy. Axell covers his weaknesses and helps him ‘fit in’ with others.
