You bite your nails, and your knees start to tremble
The time is upon you to show them what you can do

Late into the night I hear it storming
And into the rain is what I pray and I'm hoping
Now I feel the pressure of the city
Oh, how it eats me whole

So many names and faces
Sleepless nights spent in unknown places
And everyday I walk straight into the great unknown
I'm not to blame, I'm gonna take a stand
Say my name, I'm telling you to reach out
and finally take my hand!

Colliding fists, they're what's going to make you
You grit your teeth, or they're gonna break you
The time is upon you to show them what you can do
You're breaking the mold to show you're

Mankind has recently started developing superpowers, commonly being referred to as "Quirks" with just under 1 in 10 or 10% of the population having some kind of superpower. These new abilities are mostly minor and often go unnoticed. There are however the few that make an impact.

Some have found they can excel at certain jobs and make an easy living while others have found fame or notoriety in their actions, either deliberate or by accident.
This unexplained sudden gift can also be a curse. There is much of the population that looks down upon 'quirk' users negatively. Quirks users are still a major minority and there are those that think it's unnatural, unholy but mostly unfair.

No one is yet sure how to handle the situation or what is next, but one thing is for sure, people fear what they don't understand. Rumours already circulate the world that only increase the divide between quirk users and not. Stories of institutes torturing and testing people's quirk abilities. Then there is the tales of quirks that are so powerful they make men above and unbound by the laws of civilisation.

Hate groups, sympathy groups, and strange cults have all been born from intolerant lies, fear, deceit and misunderstandings.
Meanwhile rumours of war between the people constantly rise as parliament rush and desperately try to push through new laws to balance and end all this chaos.

I was thinking those titles don't exist yet, you will be labeled according to your actions.

If you become drunk on power and think you have the right to break the law then you will become a villain. Maybe you start trying to help people but nothing goes your way so you slip between both roles. Perhaps you hid your quirk silently keeping it to yourself but continually noticed the way it could help people until you could no longer ignore it.

But short answer is yeah either.
But there's a possibility to fall between the lines.

Tales of Arcadia - Fantasy, Magic, Monsters, Adventure

Hider

Name: Ryder Shaw

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Appearance: Pretty much exactly as image. Dragon tattoo and all. Maybe, just maybe a cleaner shirt.

Personality: Head strong and stubborn. Can be considered abrasive and rude but deep down he is deeply caring and protective. Although he only shows this with a tough love approach.
He is confident and often altruistic in his actions. However his low self worth causes him to act recklessly often with little regard to his own safety.

Background: His mother passed away when he was just a young child. He still remembers the days of seeing her bed stricken with a terminal illness. His father was a respectable hard working guy, doing the best he could with what he had in an unfair world. After his mother's death Ryder's fathers life slowly spiralled out of control from the loss. He became an abusive alcoholic who could hardly provide for his son. Who hardly tried. Ryder suddenly had to grow up fast and became bitter and hard.

Abilities:
Perseverance:

Never give up, never back down. Ryder pushes on despite all odds not knowing when to quit. When his sights are set on something he becomes a true force to be reckoned with. This lets him carry on where others would fall but due to the likely hood of overdoing it this can also be considered a flaw.

Brawling:

His rough street lifestyle and poor upbringing have taught him to be a fighter. While not extremely technical, experience has taught him how to take, dodge and deliver a punch.

Scoundrel:

Those that truly want something will do anything to get it. He is not afraid to lie, cheat or steal to see his ends met, and he has become pretty good at it. Morals are something reserved for those of privilege with a background of luxury and choice.

Relic:
Locket of forgotten memories

A necklace locket that has an early picture of his family inside. Happier simpler times. It has long since been fused shut. To keep it safe it is often tied around his wrist and tucked securely into his glove.
