"Thank you ma'am and again, were sorry for interrupting your meal", Maira said with a salute.
"Well then. Let's go", Jake said.
As the three walked down the hallway, Jake then said, "Ma'am. If you must know, were going to talk about...well something in private but out here..."
"Katya...we want to help Serah and Elora. With Serah...getting those war crime charges dropped. Jake's just afaid to talk to the wrong person about it", Maria then said.
"Yeah. Say it like no one's around", Jake said with a roll of his eyes as they continued to walk.
"As well as Jason. We want to make sure he doesn't do anything...stupid to hurt our chances", Maria then said.
"It's a bunch of stuff. For one ma'am. Where do you stand on that? Do you think Serah facing those charges is just? Or do you think those charges should be dropped?", Jake then asks.
"Well then. Let's go", Jake said.

Looking around, Jake then spied Katya at her own table.
"...think we should take a chance on her too?", Jake then asks.
"Why ask me Mr. Reconniasence? You seem to know what your doing", Maria said with a smirk.
"Oh that's low, ho ho ho", Jake responded with a rhyme.
"...but yeah...let's just ask her to follow us out towards Jason's quarters. If she follows or not, her call", Maria responded.
Finishing up, both Jake and Maria then got up from their tables after cleaning them up. They then approached Katya's table.

I just finished Star Driver, finally! I really enjoyed it despite it being kind of formulaic and "Mecha of the Week." The Magic-girl-esque transformations and summonings were cute at first but they just burned three minutes worth of episode time, so that was kind of annoying. There was also plenty of fanservice for those that like that in your anime. But considering that these characters were almost all high school aged (or older), it is a little skeeze, despite the majority of the characters being drawn as quite a bit more mature than high school. Though the fanservice was not at the same level as highschool of the dead, not by any measure. As with almost all shonen (and seinen) anime, the power of friendship and love will overcome any foe!
So with that said, let's go team friendship, with our hands clasped together in friendship we will defeat the evil Cruxi! *cue rainbows and sparkles*

After Maria was put in place by Ritsu, she had just watched Katya go in to visit Elora on the video feed. While she didn't hear what was going on, she did see the amount of distress Elora was in throug her body language...even more so after Katya was escorted outside the pod.
While she couldn't hear Elora again, she did "mind link" with her during that fight with the Cruxi back at the Cruxi base...so she was sure she felt the same way about their P.O.W...
Some time later, she was lined up with the other pilots saluting at Lorenzo as he explained the situation...and didn't take kindly to what they did with Serah. And after hearing what Ritsu said they COULD do to Elora if Lorenzo hadn't stepped in, she had made up her mind.
Sure, she was concerned about the P.O.W. Cruxi still because it could STILL try to pull one last mind trick of sorts to turn this base or Solaris into a living hell, she was just too emotional right now. Her worst fear...the same fear that Neo Angel showed her...no...she would embrace it...all the goods and bads that came with it.
Maria also knew that Lorenzo wasn't going to help her after he heard him use the word "Dispissed". He was too busy licking his chops on grilling the P.O.W. Cruxi. So it looked as if it may come down to her and whatever help she could get to help with making a case to help Serah and Elora.
She didn't stick around to greet the new pilots. Even more so with Princess El herself...their history wasn't exactly great the last time they had met but that was when she was "Seven". Still, Maria didn't want to deal with her at the moment.
She then saw Jake walk towards the princess before she grabbed him by the arm and away from the general area.
"Whoa whoa easy", Jake quicky said as he started to follow her.
"Jake. I need help", Maria said as they continued to walk.
"Ah. I know where this is going. Don't even have to say boing."
"No Rhymes. Just help."
"Ok ok sorry. It's about Serah right?"
"Yeah. I want to mount a case in support of her and Elora."
Jake looked deep in thought after that as they walked.
"Cafeteria Jake?", Maria then offered.
"I'd perfer somewhere more private. I don't think everyone on this ship is going to want to support them."
"I know but I'm...stressed...I need food right now anyway", Maria admitted.
"Alright then. Meanwhile, I'll start seeing what we can use for evidence. I had looked at our sync rates during the last mission and saw the drops everyone on Infiltration had taken. That could be one piece of evidence to use depending on how we present it", Jake then said.
"What about comms? Was that recorded?", Maria then asked.
"I'm sure it was but...not sure if that "screaming" I heard briefly before my comms temporarily shut down was recorded. That Cruxi really did a number with it there", Jake then said.
During the walk, Jake had taken out his tablet and started getting the data together to see what they could use.
They soon made it to the cafeteria and after waiting in a line, got their food and sat at a table far in the corner of the cafeteria.
"So Jake...we need to get support. First off, who can we use?", Maria then asked.
"Well for one, anyone at the site of the "incident" would be a start. Commanding officiers too but I doubt they'll help. Your temper before didn't help you with Elise even though you felt guilty about her eye and apologized to her about it beforehand", Jake then said.
Maria just closed her eyes on that and shook her head. Taking a bite of her sandwich while Jake took a bite of his hotdog, she asked, "Ritsu?"
"Let me think-uh nope", Jake flatly responded.
"Jake. Seriously", Maria then said.
"I am serious. She personally told you the score with Elora. She's a sticker to the rules. Trust me on that", Jake said.
"Not from what I've seen. She is compassionate when necessary."
"WHEN necessary Maria. But I can tell, she doesn't belive in out-of-control frameworks nor mind-controlling Cruxi."
"Stupid question but Lorenzo?"
"Ha. That guy only cares about Elora and the P.O.W. Cruxi at the moment. He could care less about Serah right now."
Maria let out a sigh after all that.
"So no high ranking officiers...unless Katya steps up", Maria then asks.
"I...don't know her mind set too well but it depends on what she felt happened in there. Remember though, were trying to get support. Talk to the wrong person about what were planning to do and they could well turn on us and support Serah and Elora's execution-"
"I know I know!", Maria suddenly said. Taking a deep breath, she then said, "Sorry. I'm just-"
"I know Mai. Still trying to get used to "feelings" again. Sorry but...no matter what type it is, a courtroom is still a courtroom. If it goes that far, this is what most likely is going to happen...not everyone is going to be behind us on this...", Jake then said.
They then ate a little more of their food while Jake continued to get data that could help them out.

@DarkRecon Well her family isn't the designer, but I suppose they could all be designed by the same dude, but I'm not sure that Ojo or El are going to have anything to do with the T system. But, we could use El as the catalyst to start the conversation between Maria and Zim about the similarities between Black Star and Neo Angel.

As a general statement, In retrospect of that previous mission, I do feel like things went a little too smoothly. Am I the only one that feels that way? I mean, I know the infiltration team had a hard time of it, but unlike Troas/Joppa it really never felt like "oh crap, we might lose this one!" So, I feel like between that and the obvious foreshadowing that this battle isn't entirely behind us. So that is why I am glad that I am introducing this defense based support werk, because I really feel like we are going to need it!
Also, has everyone seen the new show coming out soon DARLING in the FRANKXX (with or without the k, there seems to be some confusion there)? It is a new Mecha anime coming out soon (next month I think?) With a lot of the creative staff behind gurran laggan, kill la kill, some of the gundam series, and a bunch of other really good shows and crazy action scenes. I am really excited about it. What I am not terribly excited about is the mech designs. Anyone who has looked into it, what are your thoughts?
That works. And yeah, maybe El's kingdom in general were responsible for the "base" design before the other stuffs like the T system were added in. Just saying that maybe their works started there in design.
And yeah, Maria also feels that way. She knows that something is going to happen due to how powerful the Cruxi's mind control is. It was one of the reasons why she kept saying "that thing isn't worth it" in general but I'm sure others just see it as emotional unlbalanced. But because of her new found "emotions", she's focusing on getting the war crime charges dropped on Serah and Elora if they go after her too despite Lorenzo keeping her in confinement.
Still having trouble making a post about that though...though the general idea is that Maria is going to walk away from the group to talk to Jake about helping her with making a case to support Serah and Elora.
And I'm back from my trip. Hope you all had a good holiday ^_^. And a New Year too if I miss the chance ^_^

I even thought that Mai/Maria had a history with El. She said that, due to her "Seven" persona, she wound up bouncing from division to division. Maybe they couldn't tolerate each other?

Yep, that's a good explanation. Thank you for the icon, it really helps. The bomb is definitely too broken for a secondary, even if it does friendly fire. The EMP gun on the other hand I can get behind; cool name and design, and the weapon has reasonable limits to it. Make it medium-long range (6) and the entire sheet is accepted.
