Name: Kila Turner Mentor: Alias: Designation: Species: Age: Gender: Height: Personality Traits: Reserved, Wrathful, Iron-Willed, Courageous, Protective Skills: On the battlefield, there is not much that Kila can’t do. He’s tactically sound, has a fairly precise aim, and is brutal in close quarters combat. He may not be the strongest or the fastest on the team, but he knows where, when, and how to throw his weight around. He also has a knack for determining how to counter his opponents’ skill sets, even other metas. Meanwhile, life out of battle, is what Kila has been working on. He hasn’t exactly had a childhood cut out for proper schooling, so it has been a task to read and learn as much as he can. The young man can process and comprehend information surprisingly a lot quicker than most to the point that it might as well be a superpower of its own.

Name: Ja McCabe Vixen, (Formerly Ja Zaki/Red Lion) Metamorph or The Meta Y04 Meta-Human 18 Male 5’9” Personality Traits: Kind, Comedic, Talkative, Brave, Clever Powers: Ja has the ability to augment his physical traits based on animal inspiration through The Red. This ability can be made evident through some changes to his body; Crocodilian armored skin, canines, and nails becoming claws— among many others. However, his most notable and seemingly constant ability are Big Cat-like senses that seemingly stem from his afro or ‘Headbush’. Ja can also communicate with animals of all sorts due to his inherited connection to The Red, From the tallest giraffe to the smallest ant. This in turn, makes it much easier for him to tame them and aid others in terms of their relationships with nature's inhabitants. He can also impose the will of his humanly conscious mind to make them do what he wants, though he doesn't often desire to.

Biography

There is much mystery about the person known as both Kila and Ja. However, what is speculated is that KJ was born in a southern village in Zambesi, Africa. He lived with a small family consisting of himself, his mother, and his grandmother. His mother, Mari, was the village guardian, having apparently retired from heroics to raise him. KJ’s father was Benjamin Turner AKA the Bronze Tiger, according to Vixen, whose current status is unknown. For his very early years, they lived a pretty average and peaceful life.

However, it only lasted until their village was raided by men from a neighboring tribe. A threat to the world had been prominent enough at the time to warrant his mother’s help. The inhabitants of the village refused to just hand over the little that they’ve had. In effect, the groups came into conflict when the raiders raised their weapons and fired on the village. These men seemed to have more advanced tactics and weaponry, and without his mother there, they stood little chance.

In the carnage, KJ was kidnapped by the men who later turned out to be a task force sent by the Red Lion, President of Buredunia. Apparently, they were really in search of those with the metagene, looking to get a leg up on the skirmishes around their borders. So, for the majority of his life, he was trained as a child soldier for the Red Lion.

In the meantime, his mother had been under the impression that the unthinkable had happened. That is, up until one of the Red Lion’s chief guard betrayed his activity to the Justice League’s African branch.

A brief run through: The League was victorious, albeit unable to truly convict the Red Lion given his position in the country. KJ, as well as the other accumulated meta-kids were freed. He had something of an emotional reunion with his mother, though he was clearly much different from when he was taken. The boy had seen and done things she never envisioned for him.

It was begrudging, but she eventually allowed him in the ranks of the Young Justice Initiative. She couldn’t protect or hide him forever, clearly, so at the very least his skills and abilities could be used for good.

During his time with this Young Justice, he’s faced many personal highs and lows. The first of which came on the trip to Atlantis, when the adolescent giant squid was killed in front of Ja. It stoked reemergence of the red beast hiding within that Vixen tried to keep at bay. The problem though was that a beast locked in a cage only becomes more enraged.

Slowly, as the missions went on, the beast slowly made his presence more known. KJ became more aggressive, subtly. His punches began to lose restraint, as when Kassy was hurt by the Deluge, or when Kila challenged Viktor to a duel. However, these instances were only flashes of his rage.

It became more blatant though as of late, when suddenly something triggered the beast to wrest control from both Kila and Ja. During these triggered moments, the Red Beast would attack foes brutally, leaving his counterparts to deal with the aftermath. It caused much inner turmoil within the team as to how to deal with him, especially when that rage seemed to direct to friendlies as well.

It led to his being placed on probation from operating on missions. The hope was that a break from any potential violent scenarios would allow them all a better understanding of how to move forward. Kila initially would agree with this sentiment. However he wasn’t sure when he found the evidence of Buredunia somehow slipping a tracking device onto him.

In a rushed measure of calculation and panic to save his friends from capture, he broke protocol to warn them. Moreover to make things worse, he did not give any notice to the team leads Red Tornado or Black Canary. The culmination of these bad decisions only led to his worst fear: Being put in a position that would force him to leave the team and go back beneath the Red Lion’s thumb. However, while on the way there, he was presented with information that rocked him to his core.

This ultimately led to Kilamanjaro going MIA. The Justice League discovered that he escaped his captors, but hadn’t made contact with the League, his team, or even his mother. With his comm link destroyed and no means of tracing him, the team was left to move forward without him.

What they couldn’t know at the time was that what KJ had learned caused emotional whiplash. It was such that even the beast was at a loss for what to do when finally met with the freedom given. So he wandered for several weeks. He knew he was hurting…but he also knew that there was only one place to find comfort. So in time, he managed to find his way back to the home-base where Ja’s family was.

There, for the first time in his life, the “beast” was given a name of his own: Ro.

Notes

Ro

The Limitation to his augment based abilities is that it is entirely reliant on his emotional state and confidence. If a situation looks too intimidating, Ja’s power is going to weaken. If he has belief that he can topple the challenge, or if he has courage, his power will buff. Moreover, he can only copy the abilities of animals he has been in the physical presence of. With that too, as of currently, he can only use two of his animal based abilities at a time. It also known that a specific high frequency sound can violently trigger Ro to take control and blindly attack the person(s) associated with creating it.

When it comes to his interactions with animals, he has to be careful which he attempts his mental compulsion on. This is because of the fact that too much interaction with them could result in his own instincts taking over. Should that happen, he'd be in a state where he's more bestial than cognizant for a certain amount of time.

This bestial rage state was formerly referred to as “The Red Beast”. However, this third persona of his has evolved beyond his rage and now is referred to as “Ro”. He possesses the same abilities as Ja, except the typical limitations are expunged. This is at the cost of lacking Kila or even Ja’s tactical ability in combat, driven by his primitive instincts.

Kila and Ja previously had no knowledge of each other, despite having the same body and many of the same memories. Now, with the aid of the team, they are understanding their DID condition much better. It is unknown how much Ro understands the situation, but at times it seems that he knows more than he appears. With therapy and collective support from his friends, the overall mental states of the three are improving.

Kila was trained by a chief enforcer in Ja Zaki’s elite guard who took on a motherly role for him and was the one who betrayed Ja Zaki. She died in the battle for his freedom. In tribute to her, his costume was influenced by her uniform and is even carrying her gauntlets. The Gauntlets are made from the special variant of promethium only produced in Buredunia named True Promethium. It contains the energy absorbing and channeling abilities of the Volatile variant, while having the durability and non-toxic nature of the Depleted variant. There are very few materials made from this material globally.

There is still much contention as to whether the Buredunian President is actually his father or not. Despite some verbal references and other implications by President Bland, no evidence to prove such has been confirmed.

^*The Metamorph suit that he wears takes on the pattern of varying animals in certain sections. Currently pictured is a leopard’s spots. Black is default color of these sections when no animal inspired ability is in use.

KJ also has purposefully placed scar-lines that protrude from his skin. Each represents a fellow teammate from his past on the field from his missions with the Red Lion’s guard. There are 10 on his chest, 4 on his back, and 6 going down each arm. Among the memories that Kila and Ja share, these are the most vivid.

KJ has something of a strained friendship with Zach. In the past, Kila has had unexpected synergy with the ‘Speech Devil’, able to complete tasks he had struggled with before. Ja on the other hand, was mesmerized by his magical power in the same way a small child would be. KJ has respect for his self-confidence and mutual understanding of the weight of having Justice Leaguers as family.

However, their personalities clash at times, especially when Kila has the reins. KJ gets that often overbearing overconfidence can be hiding immobilizing insecurity. However, he was trained to believe that whenever you were assigned to a squadron, they became your family. Family doesn’t abandon each other when times get rough. Especially not because of a ‘stern talking-to’.

"She is pleasant enough. Having been around robots and other androids alike, there is something intrinsically different about her. Something that makes her special…"

”…It is like she is more human than Vicky a lot of times. Even though I cannot sense her through the Red, she has a soul. A pretty one that helps to make the pack stronger.

Although they haven’t interacted in one on one situations often, KJ considers her an invaluable member of the team. At first, he wasn’t sure how to place her— contemplating whether her programming dictated that she imitate human behavior or if she truly had a mind and emotions of her own. However, in the time they’ve both been on the team, he’s found his tendency to find her robotic differences faded away into admiring her human qualities. KJ is glad that she stuck around and somehow managed to do so with a smile on her face.

KJ is twitterpated by Kassy, in more ways than one:
Maybe it was her otherworldly beauty or irresistible cuteness.
Maybe it was her voice when she was singing or she spoke up confidently.
Maybe it was her power at her strongest or her vulnerability at her weakest.
Maybe it was what she told him or what she didn’t.
Maybe it was what they had experienced or what they hadn’t yet.
Maybe it was his heart.
Maybe it was his mind.
Maybe it was all of those things.

Upon first meeting her, there seemed to be something that clicked, even if neither realized it. Among the other members of the team, KJ values her in an entirely different way. The emotions he’s developed over the course of the year are something he’d never experienced before and would never reverse. As of currently, the young lion has sensed that perhaps she feels the same, though he has no idea how to tell her.

"It is difficult to describe accurately. It is like I have the primal urge to protect her. To the point that I have literally ‘sensed’ when she was in danger, without even knowing. There is a certain innocence she carries that makes me wonder if she should even be fighting. This side of life tends to take that innocence away."

”Daffy-Knee is family! Like the sister I never had. She was kind and generous, just untrained and scared of her powers. To make her braver, I tried to share what I learned with her. It hurt a lot when it seemed like her powers punished her. I didn’t train her well enough. So for that, I’m sorry.”

Through the Red and Green’s symbiotic relationship, KJ has a special, almost familial connection to Daphne. He is highly protective of her kind and gentle spirit. Although he concedes that she isn’t a fighter, he supports her for wanting to use her powers to help people. Ja in particular blames himself for her failings on the team from the La Hoya fiasco to her nearly drowning in the ocean trying to comfort him. Even and especially now, guilt weighs on him for being unable to protect her from what caused her current condition. His hope is that the Justice League can restore her soon.

"A strong man but a lost boy, is how I would describe Viktor. Those that have raised him seemed to have taught him only how to be a mercenary and not a person. I can relate to the struggle of a militant childhood. It’s just that he needs to be careful that he doesn’t push everyone away."

”The Red tells me that Vicky has the heart of a cub that has never had a mother’s love. So, for that, I do my best to try to be his friend…even when he isn’t being a friend to me.”

KJ has become friends with Viktor through great turbulence. Despite having similar backgrounds and a mutual respect for the other’s capability, they developed polar opposite ways of thinking. Because of that, they often clashed.

KJ felt that Viktor’s condescension and brutal honesty were a possibly fatal detriment to the pack’s unity. However with their recent fight, Kila has felt that they’ve both gotten a much better understanding of each other. With that understanding, KJ feels that they could develop a strong bond.

"Quite possibly the most rambunctious person I’ve ever met. It is almost as if Pei is a character from a TV show or comic. It borders the line of annoying and amusing. I respect that she’s worked with the league directly before."

"The ability to control metal, at least to an extent, seems quite useful when most everything around us is made using it. How he will operate with the team is yet to be seen though."

The chilly and smooth thickness of chocolate glided across Theo’s taste buds as he started on his milk. He didn’t often eat or drink while he was out and around other people, though the few times he did there was a work around. In this case, it was easy, the straw to the drink fit under the mask just fine. Meanwhile though, his eyes followed after Ludwig after he left Moe in Ami’s hands.

The explorer seemed to want the fifteen dollars, as well as a chance to get to talk to someone who would talk back. Though, with fifteen dollars so openly on the line, it was like clockwork, and Sid blurred past Glasses. It was comedic, even if unfortunate for the awkward adventurer who now stood idly. While his eyes were up near the counter though, his glance caught Gar and his eyes lit up.

His theory about the man showing up to Greasy’s turned out being correct. Theo wondered what he could be up to, given that he seemed to have come with other people. Teddy recognized Robin, but there was yet another new face. Seemed a lot of people were interacting with Gravity Falls natives, though, the question was if Gar was trying to recruit people to the Mystery Shack. He pushed the question to the side for the time being though, as the big babyfaced bear that came in with Sid nearly leaned over his knees.

As it were, maybe this guy was more than the tourist Teddy thought he was when he addressed Ami by her nickname. With an equally excited grin to match, the bubbly brown bear seemed to have known Ami from a long time ago. Ami’s response confirmed it, as she instantly went to signing to him opposed to the notebook method used for Glasses.

To seemingly be friends with both Ami and Sid, it would be likely that this ‘Remy’ would know Gar and company to some extent as well. Thus, Teddy deemed him a friend of a friend which put them on friendly terms as far as the bear was aware. Though the chocolate stream didn’t stop flowing through his straw, he greeted Remy as well through a wave.

It felt natural; His fingers against the metal strings. He didn't know why, but there was just a certain soulfulness in the way that they sounded. Mama Bear told him that the guitar, especially the acoustic, was a very special instrument. From an early age, he wasn't sure why, the sounds of this wooden box with a tail soothed him like nothing else.

Theo had been sitting here for a good fifteen minutes, just jamming away in his room. He could go on like this for a while, that is, unless he was interrupted. Which he was; his door was knocked upon. Teddy rested his palm on the strings to silence them.

Brother Bear knocked the same way every time. Every person's knock sounded differently, even if only slightly, Teddy noticed. Different patterns, sure, yet the same amounts of pressure per person. The younger bro mimicked the knock on the body of the guitar in answer. The door opened and his brother smiled, leaning on the doorframe.

"Mornin bud." Terry chuckled and Teddy nodded in acknowledgement.

“Y’know, school’s over...you don’t have to be up this early.” The elder continued, knowing the younger wouldn’t speak back. Theo shrugged, even though he knew why Terry had come in here. It was early in the morning and his older brother worked nights. Which meant that he was trying to get to sleep now. Of course, he never came out and said when Theo was doing something to annoy him, just tried to give him other things to do.

"Well, since you and the sun are up...Carpe Diem?" There was some silence.

"...Is this another furuitless history lesson?" Teddy asked bluntly.

"Well, Dad did say that 'Every action you take makes history.'" Terry hinted, doing his best impression of their father, and they both laughed a bit. Well, Terry laughed louder, Teddy’s was more of an airy chuckle.

"Clawright."

"Good." His brother commended, placing fifteen dollars on Teddy's dresser. "Since I know you're gonna stop by the diner at some point, pick me up one of their bags of coffee, will you?"

Teddy nodded and Terry started down the hall. The younger exhaled some, putting the bear luna vista on a lower stand of his guitar wall. After that, he went to the first drawer of his nightstand to pull out a black and white mask with cartoon bear facial features on it. Tugging the straps around his ears, Teddy pursed his lips behind the fabric.

It didn’t take long for him to have gotten showered and geared up. Teddy took his tricked trike and rode around aimlessly for a bit. Instinct would have sent him to Gar’s place, but the lad decided against it. Knowing his old friend, he was out and about already.

So, instead, he went to the local pet store he volunteered at earlier in the year. He went to go visit Otis the five-legged turtle. Apparently during development in the egg, something messed up and his tail ended up with toes that he moved sometimes. The guy had been there awhile, as most folks didn’t really like turtles as pets in these parts. Seemed boring, even in a town like this, but Teddy never gave up hope. Otis would find his home eventually.

After that though, Theo pedaled on to the diner, deciding breakfast was probably a good idea…Or at least a bit more than a bacon stick. As he came up on Greasy’s though, he noticed two figures perched behind a mailbox peeking forward towards the diner.

As he got nearer, he stopped briefly to give the jolly giant and slender Sid a once-over. Teddy let it sink in how awkward it looked to be spying on the diner from their hiding spot, then rang his bell in acknowledgement. Without giving much room for reply though, he swerved around and locked the trike to the bike rack before heading inside.

They liked me at first. Mom taught me how to play music, and apparently was a guitar prodigy. Dad taught me about the great outdoors. Not sure what’s great about the outside of a door, but trees and animals are nice too.

My brothers didn’t like me at first. Well, except Terry, my oldest bro. Apparently mom and dad said that I was gonna be the cash cow in a family of screw ups. They said they’d show our parents who the screw up really was. One year we came up here when I was little and my brothers left me in the woods on my own…”

“...After that, they felt guilty and taught me a lot of things. Some things I should know, some things I shouldn’t. They’re all grown up now, except Tob, he’s younger than me. Some of them are old, like forty. Old enough to where they thought having reunion at the Falls every year would be cool. It’s just me and Terry so far though...
