@deathbringerHm. Good point! I was honestly just in a bit of a hurry to get to the proposal so I did skip over that. It would make sense that she’d want to treat him, but maybe we can say that she managed to get a look at his injuries and saw that they weren’t life-threatening and decided to let him be treated at the war hospital. How does that sound to you?
Ehh its not very astraea truth be told but i dont want to be difficult!
Well if @OppositionJ@vietmyke dont have an issue with me posting first and i can promise you a pm post by tomorrow night. I think it will open things up a bit.
Apologies all round for the delay. As you all know my personal life is in a little bit of a state right work and work decided to join it in the crapper this week!
Ken looks round and seems a little intrigued as you start to scribble. He looks at you quizzically but there is warmth in his eyes as he watches you. Even as he reaches out a hand to take the note to Arthur puts up his hand and speaks up.
Ken brielfy looks up from the note with a mischevious grin
“Oh no that would be telling. All I’ll say is that it will help you in Saffron and be a valuable addition to your team. Don’t take my word for it…. Go see for yourselves! Maybe you’ll have an adventure or maybe you’ll meet your doom.”
He gives another little grin before reading Kaleo’s note. He looks thoughtfully before speaking up and you can tell he is choosing his words carefully wanting to bring the topic up without putting you into the spotlight.
“This lad brings up a point about advanced training techniques mainly non-verbal communication. I very much doubt any of the trainers you meet around Saffron will have grasped such advanced techniques. It’s complicated and takes years of practice and a unique bond between Pokemon and trainer in order to use. Very few trainers, even in the Pokemon league opt for such a complicated style of commands to their Pokemon. Nevertheless it is possible and the sooner you start the better. You might make mistakes but so long as you learn from them there is nothing that can stop you.”
The session goes on a little later but the numbers start to dwindle even after your question with parents dragging their kids off to other activities. The child surrounded by his family is swarmed by a gaggle of grandparents and lifted off despite his numerous protests of “just 5 more minutes”
Soon it’s just you two and Ken sat on the grass and though you can see the sun starting to go down and know he has a big part in the festivities he is in no hurry to rush you. If you have any more questions ask them and I’ll answer them for you in pm to make a post. When you’re all run out of questions he gives a small smile.
Nodding at Kaleo he grins even as he hoists himself to his feet with some difficulty and grins
“You should watch Elder Algenon battle tonight in the Elder’s battle at the Tournament tonight son! His rattata is ancient but their bond may give you something to think about!”
He reaches out a hand to you Arthur and shakes it firmly looking into your eyes
“Will your father battle at the tournament tonight son?”
Whatever your reply he nods and grins indicating how he hoped to/ would like to have faced him before wheeling round and leaving you both standing alone together.
Leaving it open to you guys. Interact… awkward nod and go find your folks? Very much up to you!
Perhaps it’s Perri’s attire, his revelation or the deliberate catwalk sachet but his appearance leaves a pregnant pause that seems to hang awkwardly in the air. Both twins seems shocked into silence. Even Sid who had been deliberately looking the other way with a sullen frown is suddenly looking at both of you with rapt attention his mouth curving upward in a definite smirk.
The silence stretches out until Sid gives a massive snort of laughter and both twins just collapse laughing. It goes on for a little while and you stand their awkwardly (I can imagine Lisette might just be on the point of giving someone a smack and walking off) but just before that moment Ryan (perhaps noticing) seems to collect himself enough to snort
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry” he’s wiping his eyes as he looks looking earnestly at both “It’s just…. I don’t know what we were expecting but that was not it”
He's smiling trying to manage the situation
"Look it looks we're all getting off on the wrong foot." He gives you an ingratiating smile and snatches up two bottles holding them out too you."
On closer inspection you find the bottles not to be alcohol but a sort of light brown colour (think energy drink like red bull or monster) though you notice no label or marking on the bottles. Ryan gives a small smile
"Home-brewed family recipe. Call it a peace offering... on all counts." He smiles " and you don't need to worry about getting entry to the Pokemon Party"
He smiles pointing to a window about 3 floors up on the window
"see that window in 2 hours that window will be wide open. I can promise you that"
It's your matrix moment do you take the brown bottle or run back to the festivities.
Phew. I hope that wasn't too stereotypical and gross. I felt Tatiana was almost too statically happy. This won't change her personality really. It's just to add some depth.
Awesome posts from both of you. Need to raise my game!
I think ill wait for you to reply to galahad @vietmyke before posting again if thats ok?
Alright, done. Lemme know if anything needs to be changed.
Name- Arthur Raeburn Age- 16 Gender- Male
Hometown- Celadon City
Appearance- Arthur stands at 6"3', with unkempt ash blonde hair. He has a slim, yet slightly muscled frame. His eyes are yellow, almost golden in appearance.
On normal days, he wears a gray V-neck T-shirt, underneath a dark-gray jacket with a white fluffy collar he bought himself, that has small gold marks on the shoulders. He matches his jacket with a matching set of black sweatpants that has two thin yellow stripes running down the outer sides of his legs. He finishes the set, with a pair of black shoes that have yellow laces. On his back, for his journey, he carries a large green backpack taken as a last-minute preparation, taken only minutes before he and his dad left for the Pokemon Sanctuary.
Personality- Arthur was born with a fighting spirit, as his father says. But most of the time, he's just a normal teenager; He's got a good level of reserve most of the time, even to the point of being kind of shy. But once there's a tense conflict, it melts like ice in a volcano, giving way to a fired up and determinator attitude. Arthur loves Fighting type pokemon, ever since he was a baby. He also loves seeing fights in general, though lacks any interest of studying techniques or battle strategies. He has a firm belief that fights are just conflicts between two people, where victory goes to the strongest. He likes being more around his family than friends, his dad being a movie-producer and his mother working at a flower shop.
Ambition- Arthur's a young man with strong ambitions. He wants to travel the world, collecting an array of explosive Fighting-Type Pokemon along the way. Once he's done with that epic journey, he'd like to come home and challenge his own father's team of Pokemon with his own. If he's successful there, he'd go on to challenge the Elite Four, and fight to become Pokemon Champion.
But beyond that, Arthur doesn't know much of what he'd want to do. He's absolved to figure out the rest of his life later.
Hero- Arthur has had two great impacts on him as a kid; The first being his dad Andrew Raeburn, an ex-trainer who excelled in Fighting Type Pokemon that eventually retired on his journey through the Indigo League, after deciding to settle down and start a family and getting a job as a movie producer. Arthur grew up with his dad's party of powerful Fighting Type Pokemon. Every weekend, Arthur and his dad would watch fights on TV, which gave him an interest in battling that his father encouraged. The other influence on him being Bruno, of the Elite Four, who he actually had the privilege of meeting in person when he was 12 years old. His own dad couldn't have been prouder once Arthur declared he wanted to go on his own journey afterwards.
Pokedollars-1000 Items-none
Starter Pokemon: Scrapper
Nickname: Scrapper Species: Tyrogue Health: 100% Highest level move: Tackle Gender- Male Ability- Guts Personality- Scrapper is too competitive for their own good. Even pitted against much larger foes, he insists on fighting them with every tooth and nail in his body. He even tries to pick fights with humans, with limited success, considering he only reaches the average person's knee. He's a wild and tenacious Pokemon, never giving up even after being pushed to the point of exhaustion. This could bode poorly for Scrapper, unless Arthur can train him and have him ditch that mindset. The only reason Tyrogue's lasted this long is he spent a majority of his life in the Pokemon Sanctuary. If he were to ever encounter a particularly dangerous foe, he might not know to fold his cards and fight again another day.
Backstory- Tyrogue was born in the Sanctuary. As an egg, he was rolled around and lost in a corner. Once he was finally born, he had no idea which Pokemon were his parents. With no one to guide him as an infant, he was on his own. He got bullied by larger Pokemon, resulting in his own insecurity, believing everyone was a danger to him.
He was eventually caught by Arthur's dad in a curbstomp battle.
Parent's appearance- Andrew is a clean shaven man, with black, almost even blue, hair. They have a strong muscled build, and usually wear a white tank top and gray sweats.
Parent’s backstory- Andrew Raeburn was born in Lavender Town. After meeting a Machop at the age of 18, he set off on the Pokemon League challenge. He collected as many as 3 Pokemon Badges, before realizing that his tunnel vision for Fighting Type Pokemon had put him at a severe disadvantage once he was forced to fight someone who his favorite type had little advantage against. He didn't have the bravery to return home empty handed, making a fool of himself, so he threw in the towel and settled down in Celadon City. He married and had a son, who he was overjoyed grew to love Fighting Pokemon as much as he did. He just hopes his son can understand not to make the same mistake he did, and branch out in party balance.
Name- Rampart Species- Machamp Relationship- First Pokemon Collected Information- Rampart is Andrew's first, and arguably strongest, pokemon. He's a huge ham, especially when it comes to feats of strength--Some of which he performs without being asked... Or Permitted. Andrew found Rampart when he was 18, exploring through the Rock Tunnel. The Pokemon tried to ambush Andrew, when a wild Zubat attacked. Andrew saved the outmatched Machop by throwing a rock at the Zubat, which sent the bat Pokemon tumbling to the ground. Rampart was thankful, and followed Andrew home. Since then, he and And Andrew recruited several more Pokemon on their path through the Pokemon League, until reaching the Celadon City Gym, which they tried multiple times, yet could never beat.
i like it only bit to get rid of is the bit about andrew's dad catching scrapper in a curbstomp battle. You will catch scrapper in the sanctuary.
Once that's gone feel free to add him to the character sheet section and make your initial post.
Give the ic a read and use any of the information from my first few updates to get yourself involved.
Any questions! Don't hesitate to ask me.
I'll wait for @savo and @wxps350 though I'm really delighted by how well you both are posting tenma ( I really like the question and think we can get this moving) and rune. It's great stuff and hopefully we can get this rp moving a little.
@rune_alchemist I promise you will have more to work with next update!
