Seeing actual bushfire footage looks straight out of Hell... It moves so quickly and so powerfully, literally the trees just ignite. You firefighters are absolute legends, but please, don't die.

Welcome to my little personal den of Hell! Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?
I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back. I started out fresh as can be, understanding the basics of writing but never quite knowing how to become better, or become as great as those around me. In the end, I did the only thing I really knew at the time:
Write as much garbage as possible and hope for the best!
As you can see, that particular tactic fucking failed. Jokes aside, I like to think I've developed a lot over the years, both as a writer and as a person. However, absolutely nothing can dissuade my weeaboo ways and supporting my OTP with all that I can freaking muster! If you haven't already guessed, said OTP is Chrom x Robin (Chrobin) from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Highly recommend the game, there's a reason (other than nintendo's cheapskate attitude) that it hasn't dropped in price, it's honestly the best place to start off in the series. And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?
Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Hell, even if you're not interested in that, I do highly recommend watching it for those into fantasy love stories. The quality improves drastically with each episode, so trust me when I say by the end of it you should be thoroughly impressed. It has helped motivate me in ways I can hardly describe with words, and so I thought the least I could do was put this out there. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.
"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?" "Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."
"So I heard."
"There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know."
There is a universe. No-one knows it's name, where gravity wasn't strong enough to bind matter together and no stars formed. And because no stars formed, no stars exploded. And because no stars exploded, no planets came about. And because no planets came about, there was no life.
There's another universe, no one knows it's name, where gravity was strong enough and did light the stars and planets came about and boy, they were gorgeous, planets in perpetual winter, planets in perpetual summer, planets that could rival the Garden of Eden and no bloody snakes! And on one of them, eventually, complex life evolved and one of the species developed large brains learned things like manners and dabbing, when they looked up at the stars and wonder what they were doing here. You called them octopuses, I suppose. Gosh, they were clever, for octopuses, and one of them, several million years in, almost wrote something in ink on the seafloor, a message to its friend. And the message almost read: "Hi! How are you?" And a few millennia later, space folder back on itself and, you get the idea. Goodbye Octopi.
There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. And finally, when everything was sorted, the galaxies were arranged into perfect geometric formations, transmitting pure love, and wisdom, and birthday greetings to all species in the universe, for all time. Papercuts never happened, coke came in glass bottles, no one even remembered the word for war, everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever. Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.
There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms. Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. Another with too many dimensions. Another with not enough. Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn to survive. Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion. And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution. An atlas of dead-ends.
Then again, there is one exception.
There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness. And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.
Her hair is actually kept loose, tucked underneath a hood, though would reach her lower back in length if it were to be left out. Her coat is of deeper shades of black and purple, yet has no gold patterns. Eyes are aquamarine color (leaning on the greener side), and she has dirt-covered features almost all the time. She wields an athletic frame and sports contact lenses most of the time, though these are purely cosmetic.
Age: 25 Date Of Death: February 27, 1976 Height: 5'10 Weight: 58kg Method of Death: Attempted to fake her own death and disappear. Unfortunately for her, it was her last act...
(TL;DR: Raissa grows up in the Favela, travels to the States, her parents die, she and her brother get separate adoptions, she turns to a life of crime, goes on the run, and finally falls to her death off a cliff. The longer version is below. Also sorry for making such a long bio - it would've been shorter but I accidentally wrote too much ;-;)
Growing up in the Favela taught Raissa a great many things -- athleticism, trickery, street-smarts -- however the one thing it didn't teach her was manners. Raissa has always been the trickster type, loving games and physical activities in Morro da Providência, and later California upon her illegal immigration. Though she never truly shook her child-like demeanor, her constant practice on tricks and illusions evolved her to new heights, more specifically of the illegal kind.
Born January 13, 1951, Raissa had to grow up quickly, but never quite made the cut. As her family lost their home and business, they were forced to take up residence in the first ever Favela; a hill known as "Providencia Hill". It was a hard-earned string of illegal activities that allowed the family relative wealth and services, however Raissa's mother and father always prioritized their baby's innocence over all. Hence, when they brought her a deck of cards and magic tricks from a shop in town for her to play with, Raissa was amazed, her curiosity flaring to life. Little did her or she know, this small act of kindness would change all of their lives forever...
Raissa became obsessed with her games, and mastered the art of shuffling, dealing, and playing cards over the years. By age nine she could already best her parents, let alone the neighborhood kids, in numerous card games, and even might have won a few games against adults in secret for some extra money. But by that stage, she was rather bored with simply playing cards - she needed something else. For awhile now she'd snuck out of home at night to visit the magic shop in town. Though she would occasionally buy something and have to keep it hidden from her parents, most of the time it was purely to speak with the store manager and learn of the new items in stock or to try some of his own creations. That was when she was introduced to what he believed to be his own creation: a thin sheet of metal, lightweight with a classic ace of spades print on the front, sharp as a knife. He called it a 'throwing card', stating that although regular cards can be thrown, his version are meant to be thrown.
Raissa was hooked.
Unfortunately she had little time to get help with practice, as by the age of eleven, she and her family were on the move. They'd had enough of the Favela and were looking for a new home - a home where they could (hopefully) live a normal life. Her parents eyes were set on the United States, and during November of that year, they started their journey.
It took a year and a half to complete the journey, but it was fun, travelling across Mexico and into the US. They spent many nights watching the stars together, wondering what normal life would be like, laughing and speaking of days to come. On their journey, closing upon the American border, Raissa learned she would be having a little brother sometime after they'd settled in America, the family overjoyed with the prospect of another child. They spoke of how he would mark a new beginning, and how life would finally become... comfortable for them.
It took a little longer for the family to get settled in than they thought, but life in America started out well. Although Raissa had poor English experience, she found she could amaze her schoolmates (this being her first time in school) by doing magic tricks, often with cards or the other numerous gizmos at her disposal. Halfway through said school year, her baby brother Ruben was born, her mother having to keep home to care for him. Things continued pretty well for about three years; Raissa maintained decent grades, but excelled in the arts, and her parents were keeping in good work. Raissa and Ruben both were learning how to speak, Raissa taking up reading to better her studies and Ruben learning how to speak (somewhat). But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end...
She was just sixteen when she first had a gun aimed at her head, ready to fire at any moment. It was the second most horrifying moment of her life, and one should would forget by living one day at a time from then on...
A masked man had broken into their home and taken both Raissa and Ruben hostage. He waited, patiently, for the children's parents to arrive home (who had been out taking a nice dinner), and when they came through the front door, he shot Raissa's father directly in the forehead. He then took aim at Raissa's mother, and began talking about the two's past wrongdoings; Raissa had no idea exactly what her parents did until that night, but she regretted not knowing it afterwards. They were drug traffickers and arms dealers, at least in Rio, and those they left behind were not happy with them. Hence their current predicament, which later lead to a world of pain for Raissa.
Later that morning, a bloodied Raissa walked out carrying her younger brother to a nearby ambulance as police raided the suburban house of Stockton, California. It didn't take the police long to piece together what happened: the parents died by a gunman, and a gunman died at the hands of a teenager with a razor sharp playing card, who sliced the gunman's neck open. She and her brother were checked for injury at the hospital, but thankfully, they sustained no physical harm. Yet, Raissa would never be able to truly forget the memory of that night...
When everything was said and done and the situation calmed, Raissa and Ruben were put into foster care. Unfortunately for the two siblings, they were split up and sent to different homes, never to see one-another again.
Raissa's family were an old couple, the Jones' (oddly enough), and were very loving of their new daughter. The Latin American girl was, however, quiet. Since the incident, she simply kept to herself - she no longer began doing magic tricks at school, and became more and more isolated.
That was until she took up illegal activities of her own, that is. Well, that and magic shows.
[WIP but I just need to put this up so I can be accepted XD]
Greatest Love: Magic, illusion, and distortion to fascinate and intrigue others. Also reading. Greatest Fear: In terms of known fears, being embarrassed is something she fears often. She has an unknowing fear of her own memory, keeping the darker thoughts repressed behind the persona of The Magician. Stunning Weapon: AAC Honey Badger. Sealing Weapon: Custom-made deck of stainless steel throwing cards; think of them as knives, but with four sides.
Emile takes some offence to Grian's apparent laughter, taking it as a sign she was or did do something funny. She simply stares at him as he laughs, a look of displeasure and confusion equally marking her features, a hand resting upon her hip. She makes a pout face, cheeks flushing and frown visibly child-like. "Is there something wrong? D-do I have something on my face orrr...?" She gently touches her face to feel for any dirt; she didn't feel anything there...
"Sorry, its not you or anything. Must've been the stress I guess."
'Ahh, nice, thank you. That really helped my self-esteem...'
Suddenly, Emile felt a lot more tired. Partially because her self-esteem committed a mass suicide, and partially because her teddy bear offered a place to sleep.
"I would honestly love to be carried to bed, Teddy...~" Emile yawns tiredly, like she were nodding off where she stands. "Your kindness is much appreciated. I apologise in having no form of compensation, at least of monetary value, however I'm sure I could help you with one thing or another should the favour call for it." Her tone was polite and proper, and rolls off her tongue as though she's reading from a script. Although she certainly doesn't always act the most noble, from the looks of things, making no efforts to hide her tiredness. It's way past her bedtime, and she was becoming more anxious as she wanders the night, though her teddy bear kept her anxiety from accumulating too high. So long as he is around, she figures, she'll be alright.
Standing beside Grian, Emile nods in readiness. "Lead the way, Teddy! Er, that is, Grian?"

<br>Goodbye Octopi.<br><br>There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. <br><br>And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever.<br>Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.<br><br>There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms.<br>Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. <br>Another with too many dimensions.<br>Another with not enough.<br>Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn<br>to survive.<br>Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion.<br>And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution.<br>An atlas of dead-ends.<br><br>Then again, there is one exception.<br><br>There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness.<br>And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. <br>It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.<br><br>~Exurb1a</div></div></div>
