Current I think I'm Advanced+ level and could do that. But under Adv, I feel compelled to write a certain way and it makes writing feel more like a chore even if it's just in my head. Thus, I prefer Casual

Many people equate "Advanced" to "Big, high effort posts with lots of flowery language." It's a habitual thought I struggle to shake as an RPer with 20+ years of writing experience. It's very draining

Satoru shook his head at first in response to Asus' question. After all, the bullets were much too small for him to use for his coating ability, and he had no intention of using a pistol to shoot anybody. But as he reached out with his arm and caught the pistol out of the air, he began to reconsider when he realized what other uses pistols could have. If he was using a pistol, he wouldn't have to reveal his ability to do non-combat related tasks. After all, pistols had quite a lot of punch to them. He might find a use for it somewhere.

"Not really sure what I'll use them for," he commented off-handedly to his fellow Devil's Fruit user. "But I may as well have them if I've got the gun." He quickly slipped the gun away behind his back and watched Asus expectantly for the bullets.

When Lenwood called for a retreat, his eyes widened slightly in surprise as he watched the captain run cleanly in the opposite direction. But then he let out a small sigh. This was the guy who was going to be his captain? Of course, he wasn't surprised when the guy came back through the trees...but he had probably just ruined what he was hoping to do. As soon as he'd gotten what he needed from Asus, he had planned to slip into the brush and flank the enemy marines and possibly immobilize the smaller one. After all, if either of them were going to go off on their own to get reinforcements, it would be that one. And that would completely isolate the captain so that he'd be rather easy to take down through teamwork.

But now that Lenwood had pulled his little stunt, he had caused the captain to instruct the smaller one to run away. On top of that, he might have even alerted them to the possibility of potential attacks from the brush.

Well, one thing at a time for now, he supposed. He had to roll with the dice that were cast. He continued waiting for Asus to pass him the bullets while he began thinking about what to do next. He had to rework his entire strategy again now.
Btw friends, we're going to have a show-like series of 1-on-1's for the boss fights at the end of arcs. So y'all best be prepared to kick serious ass on your own.

Haha. yeah, I figured this would come up eventually. Satoru better get to finding some real coating material soon if he can~ xP
Heheh. Cool~ Then I suppose it shouldn't be a problem. xD

My other idea was having him use Zypha's scythe blade, but I wasn't sure if the dull part of the blade was fat enough to allow him to press his whole palm against it or not. Secondly, he can't take the scythe with him, so he can't coat and remove the coat on demand. He'd have to work with the single coating. xD
Satoru looked on as the events all around him began to reach their conclusion. Ever since Lenwood had pulled that net off of him, he had been simply standing around and watching. It wasn't like there was anything he could do right now anyway. He had no weapons and nothing to coat with. Lenwood was obscured, so he couldn't see what he was doing very well. But it wasn't difficult to make out the red spray falling from those trees. He shook his head slightly and groaned. He had been hoping to avoid fatalities, as some of these marines were merely doing their jobs or trying to keep themselves alive from an abusive commander. He made a mental note to bring this up to his crewmates later.

Once the situation started to die down, however, the real thread suddenly appeared in front of them. The loud shout attracted his attention, as well as the attention of his crewmates...or so he assumed at least. So, was this the captain of the base here? He couldn't deny the fact that this guy might just be a commander, but he supposed the assumption was reasonable enough. He certainly did have that kind of air about him. On top of that, the smaller man that stepped up to his side called him "Captain." While he supposed it was possible that he was lying, he had his doubts.

He knew better than to think too lowly of this captain. He knew the strength of the Marines first-hand. And while base Captains were usually nothing to write home about, they were still in a whole separate league from the usual ensign grunts. He silently kicked himself for being so foolish as to not study the current chain of command more closely than he had. He didn't recognize this man, so he couldn't identify his name or potential abilities. How could he have overlooked something that would have been so valuable?

"Be careful guys, Captains are not to be underestimated. Sure, they're not in the Admiral ranks yet, but that doesn't mean they can't be dangerous." he finally said aloud, advising his crewmates on caution. "I would recommend waiting him out and see what his strengths are. From what I know, most Captains like him don't hesitate to start with guns blazing. Sometimes literally."

As soon as he was done with his mini-stratagem discussion, he turned to look at Asus. He needed something to work with. At the moment, he had nothing that he could use to coat himself with. The forest path was all shifty dirt and the trees were still alive, so he couldn't use the bark either. But, he knew that the Hive Human wouldn't need a pistol like the one he had pointed at the Marine soldier. Especially not when he would have to spend the extra time reloading the gun. "Hey, Asus right?" he said. He was pretty sure that that was the name he had heard back on the ship anyway. "Mind tossing that my way? I could probably make some good use out of it."
So a question before I make my post, as it'll change what Satoru looks to do next. xD

What would you say the common material that most pistol handles are made from? I assume this might not apply to special-made pistols that might appear in the future, but...eh. xD And I figure it should be common knowledge for him. Is it a similar kind of ironwood that makes up the handle of weapons like Zypha's scythe? I'm thinking of having him ask for Asus' pistol so that he could use the handle for a coating if he needs it, but I need to know what material that would be, since I assume he'd be able to grasp the handle with his palm like he did the glass in the beginning.
Heh. Well, the neat thing about One Piece is that the action seems to get split up quite often, with different crew members going to different places on an island or not really doing anything but watching the main fight(s) go on. We could probably get away with having a large crew if we do something like that. Cut from battle to battle across the island during each arc. =3

Oh yeah, allies will definitely be fun. And on top of those, I'd definitely like for them to start making alliances with other pirates in the distant future. Heh...and you're certainly not the only one busy coming up with Devil's Fruit powers and users. xP

Right right, I remember that. Although I was a little bit curious. How do we plan to transition from here to the Marine battle? I'm trying to come up with ways for Ryu to get involved...although the obvious power abuse is obvious I suppose, but I'm not sure exactly.../how/ he witnesses that abuse.

As for the fight itself, I think Ryu would more or less be capable of defending himself...but probably not actually winning. Especially not if the Captain also has his two Commanders with him at the time. In that case, he'd probably be losing the fight due to the numbers disadvantage. But if the Captain is singled out, it'd probably come out to a stalemate, with neither of them really able to inflict any major damage.
Heheh. yeah I'm not really sure. xD Luffy wanted 10 guys, but since it's just us atm, I don't think we need something quite that large. xP A navigator and shipwright are probably rather important to have, though. Probably a cook as well. And I do have an idea for a long-range fighter character that might be good to have.

I imagine we can probably get ourselves a shipwright at about the same time we get ourselves an actual pirate ship for the crew. xD

Oh. We'll also probably one a couple of non-Devil's fruit users. Y'know. In case we need somebody who can save them if they fall into the water or somebody not weak to Seastone. xP
"Researched Devil's Fruits?" Ryu questioned for a moment, looking at him with a skeptical gaze. He didn't know this guy of course, but he didn't seem like he was much older than himself. Maybe a few years at the most. Unless he also possessed some kind of power that left him looking younger. As the man said himself, there are very few things in this world that can be considered impossible thanks to the power of the Devil's Fruit. Of course, when Mitsuki mentioned the Marines, he visibly flinched slightly in response, purely on instinct. They were definitely the number one slot on his "people to avoid at all costs" list while he was still on the island.

However, he did give the man another inquisitive look. The wrong eyes, he had said? That was a curious guess to make. For a moment, it was almost as if he might know something about this fruit of his that he shouldn't...and its exact relationship with the Marines. But that was a conclusion to jump to at a later time, perhaps. It was hardly anything more than guesswork on his end as well. It could very well be just him making a mountain out of a molehill in the end.

"Cast off.... Right. Well, I'm not really a pirate, no," he replied. It wasn't a lie...he had not actually done anything pirate-like and he didn't yet have a crew, nor a reliable ship. But of course, he didn't need to know that that was his intention yet. Though then again, this guy was obviously a very capable swordsman. And for some reason, he still couldn't shake the feeling like he knew something about his fruit somehow. He almost felt...connected to him somehow.

"Speaking of which." he said. "You seem like a pretty good guy and you're pretty tough. You could probably show me a thing or two. If you're not doing anything much right now, why don't you come with me? I could sure use a guy like you to, uh...keep me company. And, y'know...maybe teach me a little bit, since you seem to know so much about fighting."
Heheh. yeah, he's not really all that strong in terms of combat yet. He's just got the power and speed behind his transformations and has been relying purely on that. He was taught how to defend himself using human martial skills, but he was more focused on learning what the dragons knew about the world. So he's definitely more the bookworm type. In particular, he's got great medical knowledge, so he can also function as the crew's doctor as well.
Ryu thought that this fight was almost guaranteed to last for at least another minute. After all, there had been so many people standing around in that area, it would surely take some time to go through each and every one, even if each one only took a single blow like the previous ones. But boy, was Ryu taken by surprise.

Instead of each pirate being taken down one at a time like he had expected, they all suddenly fell to the ground at once, and not until after the blonde man had escaped their circle. It wasn't too difficult to put together what had just happened. Even more interesting, he had struck them down in such a way that not one of them received an actual wound. They were merely taken down with no blood actually drawn.

Ryu soon found himself gazing upon this stranger with renewed interest as he watched the man collect the coin from the pirates and toss it to the girl who probably at least worked in that bar.

Eventually, their gazes met for a moment. Apparently, this guy had actually managed to see that claw of his, which he instinctively tried to hide again, though quickly realized how foolish that was. Not only was the claw no longer a claw, but it was very clear that he'd already seen it.

He let out a small sigh. He supposed that it couldn't be helped.

"So, you saw that, did you?" Ryu asked. He then let out a slight chuckle as this stranger pretended that he knew anything about his fruit. There was no way he could, right? Not given where this fruit had originated. "...Heh. What do you know of the strength of my fruit? Believe me, you have no idea the kinds of things his fruit will allow me to do in the future. Though I suppose I should thank you for the compliment regardless."
