Current I think I'm Advanced+ level and could do that. But under Adv, I feel compelled to write a certain way and it makes writing feel more like a chore even if it's just in my head. Thus, I prefer Casual

Many people equate "Advanced" to "Big, high effort posts with lots of flowery language." It's a habitual thought I struggle to shake as an RPer with 20+ years of writing experience. It's very draining

Heheh. Post is already done, my friend! I tried to focus on getting caught up everywhere today xD
Ferrin raised a brow at Arma's reaction. Okay, that clinched it. He was completely puzzled, with no idea what was going on anymore. He knew that Brightvale was a lot more accepting of magic than his home back in Meridell. But now, the Bori from before was, from what he could tell, was trying to dig through wooden floorboards on top of telling the other two that they should try some of that drink. Ferrin did know that Bori were good at digging, but usually that meant digging in snow or sand. Hard, wooden floorboards was a new one on him. But perhaps even more strangely was that the Ixi, the one he believed to be the more level headed of the two, was considering trying some of it herself. He blinked in disbelief. What was even happening at this point...?

"Yeah, no problem," was Ferrin's response at Eloween's request. What else was he going to say? It wasn't like he had any real ideas on what to do. For now, he supposed he may as well leave all of this to them until he could actually figure something out himself. He watched her carefully as she drank the cocoa. He saw her wince for a moment, and he moved closer, half expecting her to stumble or something...but she seemed fine enough. When she started looking around the room as well, though, he paused for a moment, looking around toward the painting as well. But...as far as he could tell, it was the same as it had been before.

Suddenly, there was a loud cracking and crashing sound as the floorboards were finally pulled apart by their Bori companion. Ferrin instinctively jumped, reaching back to grab his weapon behind his back...but stopped when he realized what the source of the sound actually was. However, the suprise on the Scorchio's face was clear as day as he approached the newfound gap in the floor. Well...that was a surprise.

"Wait," Ferrin said, reaching out to try to grab the Ixi by the arm to stop her. "It'll be easier if we move the rug and table outta the way first. And even then, it...looks kinda dark down there, and we don't know what's down there. Maybe I should go first?"
@Digizel Haven't seen you post on the guild in a while. Hope you're doing alright buddy!

Yes hi, I'm sorry for being absent for so long. Things have been...hectic on my side for the last month. Nothing particularly bad or anything, just...a lot. I think I'm starting to get things back under control now, though, with the house finally empty of all guests.... So hopefully I can go back to getting at least a single post per day it's my turn. xD
Going fine on my end, just waiting for things to open up~
maybe this isn't very neopets friendly

I suppose then that it's a good thing we're on RPG and not on Neo~ TNT can't do anything about us here! >3
Ferrin looked around the room, but it didn't matter where his attention was turned. He was completely lost. The only thing he could assume was that he needed some kind of key to open the lock in the fireplace. But he didn't have the first clue as to how to proceed from here. He crossed his arms, foot tapping on the floor. Eloween and Arma would be able to practically see the steam rising from his head as his brain wracked itself for any kind of solution....

However, after a few moments, something brought him out of his stupor. He looked up at Arma's words, watching him approach the drinks on the table. "You're kidding, right?" he muttered. "That's obviously-wait, what the hell're you doing!?" Ferrin would walk up to the Bori, watching him simply drink out of the cup. He was tempted to raise his hand and try to smack it out of his claws completely, but...well, he had to admit that the Bori had a bit of a track record so far. He was one for one on stupid decisions resulting in solutions. Maybe he could get lucky a second time...? "If it might be poison, why're you just drinking it like that?"
<Snipped quote by Birdboy>

Would that be using Eloween or Wyler's modifiers?

DM's call, obviously, but for the sake of giving a quick answer, I'd say you'd be able to use Wyler's stats, but with Advantage since the check involves tracking a scent, or you can have Eloween look herself.

Heck, if the DM is particularly nice, you might get both~ xP

In any case, Here's Ferrin's roll, though I doubt it'll be of much use. He's gotten his good rolls out of the way already, I suppose~ xP
Ferrin's shield bashed into the lock...or at least, so Ferrin thought at first. But then he realized that some sort of blue barrier had appeared in front of it, causing his eyes to widen a bit. "Whoa.... That's...new." he murmured, quickly realizing that he wasn't going to be making any progress in attempting to brute force the lock. He didn't like it, but he knew he was gonna have to give up on breaking anything up here.

He sighed and climbed back down the ladder. Once he was back at the bottom, he stepped through the flames again, and slid the shield onto his back. "So much for that. Apparently there's some kind of barrier stopping me from just breaking the thing down. Whatever kind of puzzle is in here, we're not getting around it."
There we go, I've got one up at long last~ And no, it's a little pupper. As it turned out, my vet's office had puppies for sale, and then my uncle wanted one, so my family bought one for him. And now we're watching him and training him until he can come pick him up in a couple weeks. And I was certainly not expecting to have a puppy at home anytime soon. xD
Ferrin let out a groan as he heard the Lenny's words from the other side of the door. So, then this was the trial after all? Ugh...that was annoying. Well, hopefully the group would be able to get this over with quickly enough. However, his attention was soon grabbed by Eloween's unexpected cry. He watched from his spot in front of the bookshelf, his reflexes clearly not being quite as sharp as the Ixi's. He took a step forward as though to help the Ixi restrain Arma from doing something stupid...but he stumbled to a stop as it turned out that the Bori...somehow wasn't on fire...?

The Scorchio blinked in bewilderment. "What...?" he murmured lowly. However, before he could react further, Arma had...completely disappeared into the fireplace!? "H-hey, what're you-!?" he exclaimed, rushing toward the fireplace now as well, ready to rush straight into the roaring flames to pull his companion back out if he had to! However...by the time he reached the flames, he could see the Bori starting to emerge through them again.

Wait...so none of it was real? That was the only explanation, right? But...he could see them. The roaring, crackling fire was definitely real! But...if the flames were real, then why wasn't Arma burned at all...?

He shook his had. There was only one way he was going to get to the bottom of this.

"Let me take a look," Ferrin said simply, hesitantly stepping through the flames himself...only to find the ladder on the opposite side, and his gaze followed it upward and to the locked door overhead. "Huh. Wow. The fire's fake, and there's...a locked door up here? Heh. Well, we'll see how long it stays that way. Don't worry guys, this shouldn't be a problem."

Then, without hesitating, he climbed the ladder and, when he got to the door itself, he would attempt to slide the shield off of his back and onto his arm. It was time for his own brand of lockpicking. He shoved his arm upward, attempting to bash the lock with the shield in a likely-futile attempt to break it.
