Welcome back news thread. As per the thought experiment:
How would your character respond if they were to win a million dollars? What would they do with the money?
My first question is: "Which character?" In the case of my newest, Hugh McTrenkel it's most undoubtedly be donated out to the less fortunate of his community and would thereby probably cause a local economic collapse from the massive deflation of his world's equivalent of a dollar. At least in the area. This would then most likely facilitate them being forced to find a way to blow off the money to normalize things. There'd be no real targeted way to use it. He'd just get rid of it on the spot. As for the rest, most are under the governance of an alternate history Communist government in China so a million dollars would be an even greater source of shock than now, then great concern because the state would probably find out and find a way to seize it. Even from the other government officials. But a millions dollars would be a drop in a bucket for the state and would maybe go and feed a regiment active in Russia for a week. Provided of course the kids I'm running in a civilian story arch learn how to embezzle first, then they could probably figure something else out.
I'm not sure he gets it.
Still working on a PoW post. When that's finished I'll refocus to this.
And if you're using electrical engineering as well than Steam doesn't become as useful a means for powering your machines. It ends up becoming less useful than it should be and electrical works becomes the primary in many respects. Or competes with gas-powered machines in their respective fields. Steam then becomes terribly niche. Then congratulations: you got a world set up like the 21st century while still trying to validate 19th century musketry where there are tanks rolling around shooting napalm. Oh, and Deathclaws.
Does anybody want to post something constructive?
If you change the dating system from "PPC" to "PCP", it will sound cooler because it will be like... PCP. The map size is crazy-ridiculous. If one pixel is 250 km^2, that would mean your rivers, at their thinnest, are 250 km across. Which is pretty intense. And also, how does an electrical musket work? Surely they figured out rifling and breech-loading before they figured out laser sights.
To add: The map is offensive, speaking as a artist. The colors are offensively bright and over saturated. On top of that the text is difficult to read. Color tones on maps are hardly that vibrant, specially if you're going to have writing on them. The textures - though I can understand using them, to make them not as dull - only makes it worse by further saturating the colors and creating a heavy noise that's making the writing really hard to see. I'd also criticize the whole concept of Steampunk, since it all too often comes off as a way to claim some sort of modern fantasy vibe. And is used in such a way the original concept of Steampunk as a science-fiction theme has been completely lost. It falls into the category of literary thought that if it has "punk" as an affix it's immediately "cool". It's just bland and lost now. You also deviate from the primary aesthetic of Steampunk by deviating into other fields of development that is hardly steam-powered.
Aaron holds the record for least interaction with fellow players in any and all RPs.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, MASTER HUGS.
Chancellor Cao Cao is a pretty bad ass person, muttering of Asia.
I got hundreds of thousands of words in on an African faction. Precipice of War is the exception that proves the rule, I think.
I wrote an entire post about a fictional Chinese opera that was half the length of a novel. Am I cool too, Vilage-senpai?

The Romanticisation of European Imperialism: Thread Number 285
I agree. Romanticizing imperial China or Mongollian conquests needs to be done more. Mongolians need to have some white washing sometimes. They did after all make the Silk Road safe and secure along with connect much of Asia in their reign.
Or...
In one day you pumped out three interest check ideas. I'm wondering if you should probably lay to rest your GM dreams. Especially since you shut down all your other attempts. If you really want to improve your "world building" try joining in on existing RPs. There exists a balance of population between GMs and players which you're obviously overbearing with the same ideas. Please, join more RPs. You obviously have the time if you think you can GM one or three or five. So please, just join an NRP.
