Auz had almost four-hundred years of experience on Magnix, the many techniques and styles of sword thoroughly mastered by him. That four-hundred years wasn't for nothing. He could easily identify an opponent's intent by how much of their body they dedicated to their attack, by how they squared their shoulders and shifted their balance, much like how a professional boxer reads punches. Mohammad Ali was in his prime during his late twenties/early thirties, and fully capable of such feats. Auz was 462 years old. It was like comparing a marble of experience next to a bowling ball. Auz talked like an impudent punk, but in reality he was an old, old, old man. In response to his opponent's counter Auz initiated a 'hanging left' with the left foot planted and leading mid-stride, moving at top speed as he shoved off his right foot, abruptly twisting his arms to angle the point of his sword down over where the fuller would typically be in Magnix's greatsword, a far more natural action than suddenly changing direction and momentum mid-swing. It wasn't changing momentum, just position. As a result his sword would arch over Magnix's own, Auz thusly draping his blade across Magnix's chest at extreme close range to try and diagonally cleave open the king's sternum, sundering flesh and muscle. Such a move could easily slice into the victim's heart or lungs. Of course, Auz was more or less unguarded at that point as well, but their strokes were set to hit at about the same time and he was more than willing to trade. After all, Magnix was swinging the broad of his sword at Auz, not the edge, as he had attacked out from his chop without twisting the blade. Auz would receive a blunt bone-breaking blow, but Magnix could wind up taking something very fatal.

('Hanging Left' positions)

Like an elusive football player keeping up a full head of steam as he charged down the field with a ball in his hands, Auz feigned a weave to his left the moment he was in range to cross swords, before actually lunging to the right as Magnix's sword dropped. Magnix sure as hell hadn't been primed for a horizontal slash, so Auz had been expecting primarily a stab. A vertical cut was the only other practical move that could have been done from that position, and it could be handled the same way. Auz wasn't in comfortable reach of Magnix's body, but that had never been his goal. He wanted to take the king's hands. The king's sword was longer, but he had waited until Auz's head was in range before attacking. Auz's sword was shorter, but his target was much closer, thus nullifying Magnix's reach advantage when he attacked at roughly the same time.

He'd stream to the side of the swung greatsword whilst simultaneously bringing his weapon down to catch his opponent across the wrists to lop off those paws as they passed each other, intending to sever the hands whilst the king was still in the midst of his swing's momentum, as effortless as it may have been. Magnix might have been planning to draw in his sword to guard by pulling in his elbows, perhaps explaining his relatively shallow blow, but to do so properly would require him to have an idea of Auz's slashing speed, which at this point was far different to what it had been before. Magnix had only experienced Auz's enhanced footspeed and a jumping lunge, neither of which were competent indicators to the paladin's frighteningly swift swings. Dagger in hand and with his base 70's martial artist's speed, Auz could pass his weapon before the face of a common man so quickly that were there to be a reaction, it would be delayed by seconds before the realization that they were dead set in. Yes, Auz may have had less physical strength than Magnix, but he compensated with the benefit of having a faster swing and a sword over fifty times lighter, making it much easier to recover after and during an attack. Even if Magnix could redirect his swing, it would be an afterthought considering Auz's own attack had already been launched with a firmly rooted purpose.
Sounds good to me! Ready for me to make the thread?
@Vinsanity

I'm up for the friendly spar. Take your pick from my character sheet! The Magna Pater and The Knave are unsuitable for friendly spars, but all my other characters have enough good humor to mess around now and then.

Gonad jogged down the path, enjoying silken streams of early morning sunlight churning through the flanking bamboo. He held in his left hand a liter flask of sake, the rice-based beverage sloshing audibly as the barbarian's heavy arms swung back and forth to keep his momentum up. It was his first time visiting this part of the world, and he knew he had to make the most of his trip before leaving. So far he had enjoyed rare and meaty delicacies, excellent training facilities, and scarcely a market that didn't offer a staggering variety of alcohol. It was problematic, then, that in spite of the many enjoyments he had found, he had yet to meet a worthy opponent. If he couldn't find a strong foe to test himself against, then his journey up to this point had been for naught. What was the point in swimming to other continents if they lacked quality rivals?

He threw his head back and chugged from the flask. Extra dry, extra strong, extra tasty. With a heaving sigh he brought the flask back down and wiped his mouth with a beefy forearm. Fine drink and a brisk morning could only provide so much contentment. Boredom weighed heavily on his heart, even as the gorgeous scenery did its best to lighten the load.

WHOAH. I totally forgot about this. Whelp, better late than never. I've given you a mention in the thread.

Battle Theme-

@Rai

Auz already had his sword cocked back for a swing, and in two winks he'd be at the edge of Magnix's reach, still sprinting at full steam with no intention to stop. Could Magnix try to lower his blade and run Auz through? Could work, might work. It seemed cut and dry, something seen countless times on the telly. The one who charges in like a madman usually gets nailed with ease. Auz, who had lived for centuries, surely knew better.

There was something fishy going on, but scarcely any remaining time to consider it. The closer Auz got, the greater the chance he had of being able to beat Magnix to the draw.
