Staring at herself in the reflection, she ran her hands along the blue lace wrapped around the upper half of her body. The blue represented being in her new position and the next outfits she would be seen in at parties and royal meetings would be the gold and red representing the country. Again she recited the speech she had been practicing with Sir Albert in the mirror. It was different looking at her own face and she knew the impression would change when she was in front of all those people but… but she couldn’t let that get to her. Not now, now that she was the princess.

A small look of surprised moved across her face as Sir Dalton was the one to enter her room. It was already time… She let out a soft sigh as she slowly turned, facing him head on and walking to him. He seemed momentarily motionless and her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. Did she look that bad?! Her gaze turned down to the dress one more before looking back up to him and pressing her lips together. He looked really, really good in his formal attire for the evening that it was hard to pull her gaze from him. Oh… oh how jealous her friends were going to be when she write to them and tells them she saw Sir Dalton in his formal attire, a rare sight and one many women would kill to see.

To his quick bow, she picked up the skirts of her dress and gave him a proper and surprisingly graceful curtsy as a response which she had been practicing as much as she did with her speech. “Alright, thank you Sir Dalton.” She responded in a meek voice as she slid her arm through his and placed her hand gently on his bicep.

Her whole body tightened as they got closer and closer to the banquet hall. The small hand on his bicep gripped gently against the cloth of his clothing and her breathing became a bit irregular but she continued to hold her head high and attempted to show as little sign of nervousness as possible. At the entrance to the hall she let out a long breath and spoke softly. “Okay…” Attempting to calm her nerves as the doors opened and the chatter of the banquet hall was finally audible.

Sir Albert was the first to greet the two as they entered and it wasn’t long before Melanie was whisked away from Sir Dalton to be nearly paraded around before her speech. She shot Sir Dalton a look of ‘I’m nervous...” before vanishing into the crowd of people led on the arm of Sir Albert. After meeting countless faces, giving a sad attempt to remember the names of everyone she met but she held her head high, gave bright smiles and conversed with anyone who approached her. The King himself seemed pleased with her poise and grace as she interacted with the guests. There was much less to improve to turn this country bumpkin into a lady of society but just by her actions alone; she was determined to try.

Soon she was ushered on the stage and she took in a deep breath as the room’s attention turned to her and she opened her mouth, beginning her prepared speech.
"Are you really going to do this Julia?” A pale faced goddess with right white hair said her face in half of a panic but half excitement, “I mean it’s dangerous but you’ll be on earth!”

The blonde haired goddess with the pale blue eyes turned her gaze up as she finished washing her face. A bright white smile moved across her full lips showing her straight white teeth. She was the perfect mix of her mother Hera and her father Zeus. “I’m excited, it’s just a gather-information mission and you can only learn so much by watching earth. I can’t wait to ride on the trains and in the cars! See all the things that the humans have built without our assistance and eat all of their amazing food!”

The white haired goddess giggled at her friend before falling down on the couch. “So you’ve got a place to live down there in… what? New York City. And you’re partnering with one of Hades’ kids. Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

“I didn’t want to partner with anyone.” Julia said stepping behind a large changing curtain and climbed into her human clothes as she spoke. “Much less someone from Hades’ linage but dad insisted that I not do this alone.”

    “I’m surprised Hercules didn’t…”

Julia had finished dressing and jumped out from behind the curtain and pointed at the goddess. “Don’t even get started with him! I told him no and I’m sticking with no. I want nothing to do with him, I don’t want him in my life and I’m pretty sure mom would kill him if he tried anything. Though I doubt my dad would be against his bastard highly recognized slash praised child and his prized child hooked up.” A full shiver shook her body as she wrapped her blonde locks up into a pony tail and threw her small backpack onto her shoulders and snatched up the two set of keys to the loft 2 bedroom apartment. “But that is a battle for another day.”

Waving to her friend she called out as she walked out of the room. “I’ll be back soon, this can’t take that long.” With that she ventured to the exit of the heavens. Taking a deep breathe she placed her hand on the archway, the archway began to glow, and soon the space between it filled with the imagine of the streets of New York City. “Wow…” She said softly.

“Julia?” A voice called out behind her. “Julia wait, don’t go!” The male voice grew louder as footsteps seemed in a sprint towards her.

“No, no no no. no no no no no!” She said quickly as she begged the portal to get solid before Hercules grabbed her and pulled her back from it. The gods and goddess each had opinions about this mission and Hercules had his about Julia going but, this was her mission, her idea and her job! As soon as the wall became solid she sprang through it feeling fingertips brush against her arm. The door disappeared behind her and she came straight into the human world stumbling and tumbling like a new born baby lamb learning how to walk. Of course, the blonde tumbles directly into someone. “Oh gosh I’m so sorry I…” Her voice cut off as she stared over at the man she had smacked into, his aurora was incredibly dark and even at the small distance between them their auroras clashed intensely. “Oh well… hello.” She said, her smile as bright at the sky. “You were easier to find then I expected. Sorry about that.” She had literally fallen onto her new partner and knocked both of them to the ground. Getting to her feet quickly she threw her bag back over her shoulder and offered him her right hand. “I’m Julia, let me help you up.”
Half of Abbie was sure the man wouldn’t show up. This could easily come across as a trap to anyone who didn’t have a sense of who she was. But Nightwing seemed to understand that this was a serious situation and that the blonde was serious. Taking in a deep breath her body shivered against the cold, her biceps still in pain from the electricity and her mind racing she stared out over the city.

She felt the presence show up behind her but she didn’t turn around. She knew who it was. He went into an expected playful note about a nice island with drinks but as she turned around, her face as soft but determined as she stared him down and avoided the joke. She followed his directions and slid herself against him as he pulled out the grappling hook and the two took off. Half of her didn’t like being held like this, the other half was too busy taking in the view of Gotham, innocent unknowing Gotham underneath them.

Abbie felt a little lonely when let her go but again… she had been feeling lonely for a while ever since she said her final good bye to Dick. That was the saddest moment of her life to have to let someone like him go. And now she was diving into the darkest pits of her city to help take down the worst of the worst. She was risking a lot, including her own life but if that meant she could make a difference here in the city she was ready.

The whole place sprung to life and there was no doubt that it was surprising to the young woman as she looked around what she assumed was a completely empty clock down was filled with much more than she had ever imagined. A small smirk moved across her face, the first expression she had shown since they had met up and she walked around looking at all the things. “Geeze next you’re going to tell me the Bat Cave is actually the local ice cream shop. I would have never guessed this was here.” She turned her attention back to him and nodded softly, “I wouldn’t think you’d take me to the Bat Cave and I have no intention of asking to go. That’s your call not mine.”

“It’s smelly and damp in there; I don’t think you’d like it.” Robin said entering the room with a grin. There was a short conversation between the three of them before it was decided that Abbie should show them what she knows so she agreed to spar with Robin. Within the sparring they held a conversation. “I’m surprised you showed up Miss Dent…” Whoosh, he dodged on of her punches. “It’s a dangerous thing you’re getting into…”

Sensing Robin was about to go into the same speech Nightwing had been giving her for the past few minutes she finally spoke up. “You do what you do for…” Whoosh, she dodged a swing from Robin, “For your city. I’m doing what I’m doing to protect someone I love.” At that Robin had a small pause in his motions and Abbie took advantage of the opening, kicking him square in the head and causing him to tumble on the floor. They had been sparing for a good twenty minutes and she finally laid the first hint. She had stripped out of her jacket leaving her in a white tank top, her face was drenched in sweat because Robin was fast and dodging him was more difficult than anyone she spared with when she trained. Lowering her fist she placed her hands on her knees and took in a couple deep breathes.

“Don’t let your guard down Robin. Even for a second someone can take advantage of it.” With that she stood upright and offered him her hand to help him up. “How was that couch?” She asked calling out to Nightwing who had been observing their actions.
Your Highness. That was going to be a phrase she’d have a difficult time adjusting to. She gazed at him from behind and it wasn’t until he got further away that it registered that she needed to follow him. “Oh!” She said to herself as she kicked her feet into gear and hurried after him. Boy she looked like a fool staring at the captain of the royal guard.

Talk about feeling out of place! She didn’t look like she belonged there and something told her that Sir Dalton agreed. Her coffee girl outfit looked nothing like the beautiful nobles and bureaucrats which made it even more awkward when Sir Dalton would introduce her as princess. Her attempt to respond to the bows and curtsies were met with a clumsy rendition of her own. And every now and then she could have sworn she saw Sit Dalton’s eyes roll.

Running her fingers through her strawberry brown hair, her big blue eyes stared at the ground under their feet as she walked a few steps behind Sir Dalton through the corridor. He probably should she was a buffoon who didn’t know didn’t know a thing about being poise and elegance. To that he was right, however she was chosen for this position; despite the fact that he friends added her name in as a joke, and she was going to make herself be the best princess she could be! Her mind was so focused, so determined that she nearly colliding into him when he came to a stop. Stumbling back from the large man, she put a respectable distance behind the two of them and didn’t look away as he spoke.

Straightening up as he bowed to her she spoke in as much of a serious voice as she could muster. “Thank you Sir Dalton.” With that she nodded her head to him and opened the door to her room. All of her seriousness vanished and a loud “Whoa!” could be heard throughout the corridor. So much for ‘poise’ and ‘elegance’.

“Sir Dalton.” Sir Albert said as he rounded the corner and found him walking. Holding his hand out, he stopped the man from continuing the walk. “I know this must be hard on you…” His voice sounded anything but sincere, as a matter of fact, he seemed to chuckle. “This seems like more of a demotion than anything else for you. However I come baring more news for you. As the best horse rider in the kingdom, you will be in charge of the ride lessons along with you normal duties.” A smirk rose the corners of his lips as he walked away from Sir Dalton but called back, “See you at the banquet Sir Dalton.” With that he knocked on the door and let himself into once invited to.

After a long conversation with Sir Albert, a handful of maids and a massive amount of dress choices, Melanie emerged looking very different. Her hair was up in curls and a bun, her makeup was done flawlessly and her body was wrapped in a poofy white dress with blue lace wrapped around the top portion of her body. Looking at herself in the mirror she seemed almost shocked. Was this… really her? Her small hands danced along the fabric feeling the silk against her smooth skin “Wow…” At that she turned her attention back to the mirror and lifted the skirting of the dress and practiced her proper curtsy. Sir Albert had given her some instructions and education before he left to complete his duties for the banquet.

Taking in a few deep breaths he let out a long sigh and hung her head. “What am I doing? Why am I here?”
