@Framing A Moose: The Wanderers are the characters who live outside in the Wastes, and are unaffiliated with either faction. It's very common for little nomadic communities to form, seeing as staying alive by your lonesome in the ashland is very dangerous. If you create a human, they'd probably have to be a Wanderer, as the factions would immediately kill her, because nonGifted humans were/are seen as subhuman and dangerous by the Gifted. Also, speaking of which, it's fine if she's a Human, so long as she's not the last one, as a few other people have expressed an interest in eventually making human characters. :)
@Framing a Moose: I'd rather not have anyone make a human, if possible. Considering that all of the other characters will be superpowered to various extents, it may end up being generally unfair to you and your character. Sorry, Moose. :c
@Kidd: Vivian looks great! Consider her approved. :)
Description: Being a teenage girl, Dawn isn’t the most physically formidable, standing at around 4’9” in boots and without much muscle mass to speak of- aside from her legs, which have been strengthened through years of running. She is quite pale, as well, with soft grey eyes and black hair that falls to her hips.
Dawn has a habit of dressing in loose-fitting clothing, preferring to wear jeans and long sleeved shirts. Previously, she also donned a white hoodie over her ensemble, although she has recently lost it and replaced it with a dark grey jacket. She has a habit of slipping her hands into her pockets when nervous or excited, and tends to fidget.
Personality: By nature, Dawn is a gentle soul, trying to resolve most conflicts without resorting to violence. She’s very maternal and kind, and tends to be protective over the people she cares about. In spite of this, however, she has a tendency to be vengeful, keeping grudges close to her heart until she has an opportunity to right what has been wronged in her eyes. Otherwise, she serves as a sort of peacemaker, trying to make sure that everyone gets along.
Skills: In spite of her age, Dawn possesses impressive power in regards to her mental manipulation Gift through combination of her own raw talent and quite a few training sessions. Her abilities range from basic telepathy to the control of one’s body, although to do the latter requires extreme concentration on her part. While several of her powers are broader, they require her to focus on the individual instead of the group.
Asides from her Gift based abilities, Dawn is also rather diplomatic, although that particular skill has been given little use as of late. She is intelligent as well, and through practice, has developed some skill in reading others’ emotions without relying on her power.
Weaknesses: Given the fact that she relies more on flight and her Gift in a confrontation, Dawn is physically weak and can be overtaken easily without her ability. She has a crippling fear of fire as well, and will lock up when near larger flames. Along with this, Dawn also has a tendency to bottle up her emotions and feelings in favor of assisting the groups’ problems, and is a bit of a control freak when it gets down to it.
Brief History: Dawn’s earlier years were spent living with her parents and brother in a nice, developing town. She was raised into her now-prominent pacifism, and was genuinely happy. However, when her family refused to swear allegiance to one faction or the other, their home was destroyed, and her parents killed in the blaze that followed. At the age of eight, she began her life in the wastelands, soon finding herself alone after being abandoned.
This war hasn’t been the first involving Gifted- the superpowered, the blessed, the cursed- as a species, as active participants using their powers for bloodshed.
Throughout history, there have been traces of humans talented with special abilities, capable of feats unachievable by the average man or woman. Prophets, creatures of lore, those blessed with incredible luck, or who could read people completely, or those regarded as magicians...Of course, many were unaware of these abilities, and those who did were either regarded as gods, or kept their secrets under lock and key in fear of the consequences. It was only recently- several hundred years ago- that they began to appear more frequently, with more intense powers, more obviously “special”.
The Gifted.
As with anything unique, tensions rose, with humans declaring the Gifted dangerous. Their children could easily be harmed by one with super strength, and robberies could become even more life-threatening when performed by a pyrotechnic. War soon broke out, the recorded beginning dating to around a century ago. However, this story is not about then.
Humans, those who were unfortunate enough not to have such powers, not only lost; they were wiped off the face of the earth, with only tiny pockets remaining. In the chaos and anarchy that followed at the lack of any real stable civilization, two factions emerged.
Erubesco, the faction of culture, monarchy, grace, and science.
Liberty, the faction of order, efficiency, unity, and progress.
Given the clash of their ideologies, lifestyles, and many other factors, it did not take long before both declared war on one another. They scrambled to collect land, stronger Gifted to fight under their command, and to gain an upper hand when both were equal in strength. Both groups even found themselves relying on tampering with genetic code, hoping to unlock something which would strengthen their own side. The war has currently been raging for eight years in total, in which many lives have been lost, and many atrocities committed.
Of course, what with the fact that quite a number of the Gifted population disagree with the beliefs of the current superpowers, many splinter groups have formed. None have been unable to reach the strength that the factions possess, but still manage to survive in the harsh wastelands. Ranging from tribes, to mercenaries, to rag-tag bundles, it is common for these small communities to often be at each other’s throats, when they aren’t actively hunted by either faction for a particularly coveted powerset.
The world is at odds.
You must survive at all cost, wherever you are.
Hello, all. I'm Echo, your GM for this particular RP. I'm a bit new to the site, so bear with me on a few things, but I do have a set of rules for y'all first things first.
1. Basics apply here. No power playing, godmodding, stealing, killing/controlling someone's character without permission, etc. 2. Be polite. IC, characters can be at each other's throats, but OOC, we should all be on relatively friendly terms. :) 3. There's no limit on how many characters you can have, as long as you can handle writing them all. 4. Have fun!

Full Name: Phoebe Alice Stride Nicknames/Aliases: Stride Age: 46, although she physically appears to be in her early twenties. Gender: Female Species: Gorgon/Human Hybrid SCION Team/Rank: Member of Thunder Moon
Description:
At about 5’4”, “Stride” is a woman of pale complexion, and even paler hair. Locks of silver fall messily about her face, with several hanging low enough to brush her chin. Her eyes are a strikingly bright yellow, and very much serpentine; nearly all of her eyes taken up by the same color, and her pupils are slitted. Scales litter her body, showing up as sporadic patches on otherwise regular human skin.
However, Stride has a habit of covering most of her features, leaving much to the imagination. Typically, she dons a pair of goggles over her eyes, and a thin, breathable strip of fabric over her mouth; although when out on battle, she tends to switch these items out for a basic gas mask. Her outfit consists of a maroon jacket over dark shirts, jeans, and a set of work gloves and boots.
Asides from these features, Stride is of Japanese and Greek descent, and while she can understand the language of the former, prefers speaking in English above anything else.
Personality:
Sarcastic, hasty, and generally rough-around-the-edges, Stride’s personality seems to befit the protagonist of a cheesy action movie over a member of a discreet intelligence operation. Her vocabulary is vast enough to make a sailor blush, and is something she often uses to get on the nerves of most decent folk. It doesn’t take long for her to give out a few rather...blunt comments if it means getting a rise out of someone. She possesses quite the temper, as well- acting childishly when frustrated or taken off guard, and throwing out meaningless insults in an effort to maintain what she views as an “impressive” demeanor. Given this hot-bloodedness, this often makes her fairly unpleasant company, especially when around those with thinner skin.
In spite of this, however, she’s fiercely loyal to both SCION and her companions, working doggedly to get both recognition and admiration between her peers. This results in her being a bit show-offy at times; although when it counts, Stride can be fairly cool-headed and reasonable enough, making her decent enough to work with.
Skills:
While she cannot induce the same symptoms as a pure blooded gorgon, Stride’s gaze can stun anyone who meets her eyes, inducing an effect similar to being tazed in the victim- muscles locking, and waves of pain flooding their body. If Stride were to hold her gaze for too long, it is very much possible that her power could turn deadly. She’s also talented with use of firearms- especially with her dual H&K MP7A1s- and fairly decent in terms of hand-to-hand combat. Her heritage also grants her a heightened healing factor, which, again, while not as strong as a gorgon’s, heals minor wounds fairly quickly and keeps her from aging much.
Aside from those, Stride also boasts the basic knowledge of most SCION fighters on squaring off with the supernatural- both in detainment and dispatchment- as well as some various miscellaneous skills picked up from her work.
Weaknesses: Stride’s pride tends to be her biggest weakness, as, in efforts to prove herself, she will often charge headfirst into a confrontation. She’s willing to perform dangerous stunts- a trait of hers only worsened by her fighting style, which, when left up to her, focuses on getting closer than most long-ranged weapon users would. Using her gaze for too long tends to draw energy from her, and, along the lines of her heritage related attributes, Stride is also cold-blooded. There is also the matter of her being a perfectionist; while this leads her to strive for improvement, it also leads to aggression and irritation when she fails to reach her intended goal.
In addition, Stride is rather emotionally underdeveloped, causing her to become frustrated when things don’t go her way.
Brief History: Young Phoebe was born as a result of a rather...problematic affair between her mother- a married human woman, and head of a prosperous weapons company- and her father- a gorgon killer-for-hire. As the child didn’t exactly resemble the woman’s husband, it was obvious enough that she was a bastard- something that threatened to cause a large stain upon the family’s reputation. As such, Stride was often kept away from company and shunned, causing her to turn to the various movie and T.V. memorabilia for influence on her personality.
Throughout her years, Stride constantly worked in an effort to become a proper member of the family; although her efforts were made for nothing at the resurgence of SCION. Upon its discovery, her family was quick to send her to join the organization, and she has remained with the group ever since.
