Krysthane sat in her hospital bed staring out the window dully. How had it all gone so wrong? It had been their last mission before graduating, their final senior mission. It had been just an A rank mission, not a cakewalk but nothing they weren't ready for. Exterminate a pack of grim that was getting dangerous. A long ride in a helicopter and they'd dropped right into the forest, all they had to do was follow the path of destroyed foliage. They rushed in, attacking in their normal formation against groups of grim. Laughing and joking as they killed them. They'd never seen it coming.
Krsythane looked at her broken legs, her arm with its shattered bones, never to be used properly again. She'd been told she'd barely be able to walk, her days as a hunter were over before they even began. Krsythane looked at the keen edge of the scapel she held with her one good hand, attached to an arm encrusted in a cast. She'd held all their lives, and dropped them. The scapel quickly snicked through the tubes attached to her body and they fell to the ground limply, dripping liquid onto the floor. Seconds later a quiet beeping sound began, one that would alert someone to come help her, but far too late. The scalpel blade lightly touched the skin of her neck, trembling ever so slightly, guided awkwardly by her wrapped arm. Why didn't they know to stop her? It didn't matter. She never should've made it out anyway.
One gentle push and the green hospital gown was quickly stained the same deep red as her hands had been since she'd left that mission. Her eyes stared at the red flowing liquid, for some reason it didn't hurt at all. There was just an overwhelming sense of relief. This was her last mistake, she didn't have to worry about it anymore. Nurses rushed in too late to do anything. Krysthane watched them with her dying eyes, no light left them, for the light had left when her team mates did. Maybe if she was lucky, it would join them.
The robot looked at the flames perplexed. Apparently Chen had missed the whole flame and war theme of the robot, even with the intense flames they were nothing compared to what he had been forged at. Now if it had been any other element with this much power it would have been a different matter, but fire? "If you don't stop talking I Will make you stop." the robot said warningly. Then as the robot's skin shone with energy, it once again charged forward, ignoring the raging flames and striking at Chen with its flaming sword in a powerful horizontal slash.
The Lich merely shook his head, perhaps the human thought he was escaping. Obviously he hadn't been paying attention to where the lich had been getting his bones from. Talk about digging your own grave. With so many options to attack the Lich made a relatively simple one. With a simple gesture thousands upon thousands of bones rose from the ground beneath Ephilates in a pillar of sharpened bone spikes. Along with that the same threat came from above and from the sides. Put simply Ephilates was encased in a spiked bone cage that was rapidly closing in on him. In addition the as the action was carried out the Lich began carving furrows into the ground around him, seemingly creating some sort of ritual circle.
Dorisma looked at the chest suspiciously, she was about ready to kick the lock open but it looked like one of the kobolds had managed to open it. Well that was that taken care of. Mentally shrugging she gave the chest a small kick and walked by it. At least they had gotten some loot of it, hopefully they arrived at their destination soon. Or perhaps they would get ambushed by more humans, or even the ninja legend of the cave. She snorted dismissively at the last thought.
Moros made his way into the shop. Cecile had been right, adding cards to his deck did make it more fun. Which, of course, was why he was here: to buy some more cards and see if he could make any more fun additions. After all, Summon Limit had proved to be very helpful in his last duel, and he could see its usefulness in upcoming duels as well. Maybe after he got some cards, he could discuss strategy with her. Still wincing at the prices, Moros grabbed the cheapest looking pack he could find and went up to the counter to purchase it. It'd be worth it if he won the tournament because of it, right?
That last duel was pretty draining for Daemon. He got just a smidge too riled up, and screaming at the top of his lungs for Berserk Dragon might not have been the wisest move either.... Well, it didn't really affect his shuffling through the streets much anyway. Although the movements were slow and sluggish, the boy made sure to take the shortest route to his destination. What was said destination? Why, the card store of course! It took a few minutes, but finally Daemon reached the door! The magnificent building stood before him, it's sliding doors opening to reveal...! ...Moros. Standing in the doorway. This... Wasn't good. Daemon hadn't actually met the boy before, but heard about them. Supposedly they had an even higher winrate than Yuji, and some unresolved sexual tension with Adrien's sister... Or was it resolved by now? Hell if he knew. The skeletal disk on Moros' arm stood out immediately, showing just how much more... Fancy it was, at least when compared to Daemon's simple dye job. Okay. That's it.
"You, me, Duel. Now." That was literally the first thing Daemon had said to the other boy, whom had just gotten done buying cards. Daemon reached for Moros' collar and attempted to pull him out of the doorway, then take a few steps back to get in the ready position. He wasn't going to waste time with this one.
Moros turned at the sound of someone seemingly talking to him just in time to have his collar grabbed, and subsquently be yanked out of the card shop. "H-hey!" Moros cried out in surprise as he was pulled out. As he processed what just happened he realized he didn't really have any objections to a duel, it was simply unexpected. Moros took a few steps back and his disk folded out, the red skull eyes gleaming almost angrily. "Well alright then." Moros said, still somewhat unsure of himself. Who was this guy again?
Turn 1: Moros Daemon 4000 LP: 5 Cards in hand Moros 4000 LP: 5 Cards in hand
Well his first turn would be simple as it always was. "I'll just set one monster, one card, and leave it to you." He said as he wondered how this duel would turn out. This guy seemed kind of angry for some reason.
Turn 2: Daemon Daemon 4000 LP: 6 Cards in hand Moros 4000 LP: 3 Cards in hand, 1 set monster, 1 set spell/trap
"My turn. I'll draw," Daemon casually picked up his card from the top of the deck, then scanned his hand. "Alright, First off. I discard my Archfiend Emperor, the First Lord of Terror and my Phantom Dragon to Special Summon, from my hand, D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon." He ditched two cards and then showed the third to his opponent, namely Pendragon, before slamming it down on the field. A few seconds ticked by without anything appearing. Then, from behind Moros a shadow suddenly rose up accompanied by an ear-shredding roar. Behind the Skull Servant duelist had materialized a dragon whose black scales were covered by various sharp, metal guards as well as their horns being protected by it. It flew over to Daemon's field in Attack position.
D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon 2600 ATK 2400 DEF Level 7 DARK Dragon
Moros waited patiently for a few seconds surprised when nothing immediately appeared on the field, only to turn at the terrifying roar from behind to him. The monster summoned was quite impressive, standing at a 2600 attack and no doubt an effect to match.
Moros' opponent gained a smug smirk, revealing "A Wild Monster Appeared!" from his hand. "I'm not done. I can discard this card right here," and Daemon followed suit "to activate Pendragon's effect. Not only does he gain 500 ATK, it also destroys your Spell or Trap card!" Pendragon's claws, covered in a metal gauntlet, extended. It's mouth curled up into a twisted smile, which is odd since the maw wasn't supposed to bend that way, and it dashed for the card in order to smash it to bits.
D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon ATK 2600 > 3100
Moros watched his Chain Destruction shatter into pieces rather dissapointed, well that plan was ruined. Oh well, as long as his opponent couldn't Summon monsters like that very fast, he should be fine.
"Battle phase," Daemon declared. "Pendragon, rip his monster to shreds!" The aforementioned dragon was still on Moros's field, and didn't even bother using its arms. Instead it raised one of it's feet, then stomped right down on the set card.
A brief image of a turtle wearing a pyramid appeared before it shattered as well and moved to the graveyard. "Now, since Pyramid Turtle was destroyed by battle, I can use its effect to Summon Wightprince from my deck to the field," Moros explained as a puny looking skeleton appeared in defense mode, cowering behind his pet dog
Wightprince: 0 DEF
"Tck..." Daemon had preferred no monster be on the field by the end of this, but not like there was any choice at this point. "Fine. I'll set a card and pass things off to you." One card slid into the socket and it signaled the start of Moros' turn.
Well this was workable. The question was if he should set his other monster, he needed wightprince to be destroyed and then to summon his king, but if his opponent destroyed his monster with an effect or summoned another monster Moros' own LP would be left wide open. Better safe than sorry, yet if he did that he'd have no way of getting a king out. Hmmm. "Fine, I'll set one card and end my turn." Moros said, sighing as he did so. Hopefully this worked out.
"My turn, Draw!" Damn it, why was this guy so passive? The monster he revealed pretty much confirmed what the deck was, but even then it shouldn't be this held back... Well, Daemon'd need to be careful. One wrong step and death could be knock-knock knocking on the door... "I'll start my turn by using the Spell card, Ante! We both reveal one card from our hand, and depending on the lowest level one of us discards it and takes one thousand damage." Daemon picked one card from his hand and held it out in front of him, back turned.
Ugh, he couldn't afford to lose his two of his three cards so this was an instant loss. Reluctantly he selected and revealed a spell card, Book of Life.
"This makes my job easier." Daemon turned his own, revealing Beast King Barbaros. A level 8. "You lose the Ante, and lose your card!"
Moros inserted his card to the grave and winced as he lost a fourth of his LP
Moros 4000 -> 3000
"Now, due to my Beast King Barbaros' effect I can Normal summon him." The Chimera rose from the ground, but seemed exhausted by something. "Now, normally his attack would become 1900 since I didn't Tribute a card, but... I don't feel like using that. Reverse card open! Two-Way Mirror!" A Trap card flipped up, depicting a face framed in shadow staring at a mirror, with a red line resembling a grin in the reflection. "A change in a monster's attack when it's summoned is negated for only 300 LP, and then the controller draws a card. Lucky me, it was my own!" The boy's voice didn't sound nearly as excited as it should, aggressively drawing the next card from the deck.
"Battle Phase." Daemon raised his free hand and aimed forward. "I'll attack your Wightprince with my Pendragon!" Pendragon launched forward, using its wings to gain momentum and snipe the set card.
Moros watched passively as his monster was utterly annihilated by the dragon's vicious attack and was sent to the Grave. "Of course when Wightprince is sent to the Graveyard he takes two more monsters, a Lady and a Skull Servant, with him." Moros explained as the little dog ran into the deck, bit down on the two cards, then ran into the Graveyard to his master.
"But we're not done, remember? I still have a monster." Daemon nudged towards his Barbaros, now standing tall with 3000 ATK. "Attack him directly!" The chimera rushed forwards, spear first and tried to rush at Moros.
Moros grinned, and this was where he turned things around. "I'll activate my Trap card: Mirror Force." he announced dramatically as the classic card intercepted the blow and turned it back wiping the field of both Daemon's monsters.
Daemon looked... Actually, shocked. He looked pretty damn shocked. Seeing his monsters get blown up like that, especially when he was about to end the duel right there... Damn it! He got too cocky... "A-Argh... G-Good job. I'll end my turn."
Turn 5: Moros Daemon 3700 LP: 1 Card in hand Moros 3000 LP: 4 Cards in hand
That had been close. If he hadn't happened to have a good set card the duel would've been over right there. Moros drew his next card and viewed his hand somewhat nervously. With all those big monsters, that deck was dangerous. "Alright, my turn to go the offensive," Moros said excitedly as the eyes of his disk gleamed with excitement. "I'll play the Spell card: One for One, allowing me to discard one monster in order to Summon a Level 1 monster from my deck. I'll discard a Skull Servant in order to summon my King of Skull Servants to the field!" Moros declared as a card shot out of his deck directly to the field. His majestic skeleton appeared standing on the many bones of his followers.
King of Skull Servants - 4000 ATK
"And since your field is wide open, I'll attack directly with Vengeful Hail!" A simple motion from his king and thousands of bones flew into the air before cascading down in a vicious hail of CALCIUM upon Daemon.
"I beg to differ! I activate my Swordsman of Revealing Light's effect! When you declare a direct attack, I can special summon him in Defense mode!" Three blades surrounded the King, before gathering onto Daemon's field as a knight in green armor rose to the field.
Moros punched the air in frustration, so close! Oh well, Daemon had no card left and he'd need a pretty good draw to get past his King. "Very well then, destroy his Swordsman instead." The hail of bone shards changed direction, homing in on the swordsman like they were life-seeking.
The swordsman shattered and the various sharp-edged particles flew past Daemon. He had to raise his arms to fend off against the shrapnel, but at least his Life Points were safe...
On the other hand if Daemon did get past his monster somehow he would be helpless, as his only card left wouldn't do any good, how very exciting. "Alright, guess that makes it your turn, soon as I set one more card." Moros said calmly, perhaps bluffing would help make sure he could make it until next turn.
Turn 6: Daemon Daemon 3700 LP: 1 Card in hand Moros 3000 LP: 1 Cards in hand, 1 monster, 1 S/T
Daemon whistled as he drew his card, knowing full well that things weren't looking too good for him right now. This had to help, though. "I'll activate One Day of Peace! We both draw and take no damage until my next turn." Daemon picked up his next card, looked at it for a few seconds... And set it into the S/T zone. "End."
Moros resisted a grimace of frustration, argh, he didn't want to give his opponent any more time to react, but with day of peace already played there was nothing he could do. However with his drawn card he got security in more ways then one. "I'll set one monster and end my turn."
Turn 8: Daemon Daemon 3700 LP: 1 Cards in hand, 1 S/T Moros 3000 LP: 3 Cards in hand, 1 monster, 1 set monster, 1 S/T
"My turn, Draw!" ...Oh man. This draw was godly. That set card was more of a bluff... And it paid off! "When you have a monster of 2000 or higher attack, I can special summon Schwarzchild Limit Dragon from my hand!" A purple dragon slithered like a snake on the field, and soon after a spell card was flipped from its face-down position. "I activate my Riryoku as well! I halve the attack of your King, and add it to my Dragon!" Skull King... Didn't react at all. Since it was both a DARK monster and, well, kind of dead, the dark orb pulled from its chest didn't seem to phase it at all. How disappointing.
Swarechild Limit Dragon 2000 > 4000 ATK 0 DEF Level 8 DARK Dragon King of Skull Servants: 4000 ATK -> 2000 ATK
"Now, Limit Dragon! Battle Phase! Attack his King!" The Dragon... Also didn't know what to do. It wasn't used to being used as attack fodder... So it kinda slithered up to the king and tried to poke it with its tail. "...Why is everything being so anticlimactic?!"
Moros 3000 LP -> 1000 LP
His skeleton merely stood still as the tail pierced its chest and it vanished from the field. "You should know Zombies never stay in the grave for long, when King of Skull Servants is destroyed by battle, I can banish one skull servant from the graveyard to summon him back to the field." His monster reappeared instantly, albeit the pile of bones he was standing on was slightly diminished.
"...Heh, yeah I knew. I hadn't really gotten a way to win anyway. Turn end." Daemon smiled sadly. He'd accepted his loss by this point, and was waiting for Moros to end it.
Turn 9: Moros Daemon 3700 LP: 1 Cards in hand, 1 S/T Moros 3000 LP: 4 Cards in hand, 1 monster, 1 set monster, 1 S/T
Moros glanced at Daemon perplexed. He didn't seem like he was having fun, but if he wasn't having fun... then why was he dueling? "Draw." he said somewhat halfheartedly as he watched his opponents defeated expression. With the cards he had he could win this easily, yet... Argh, too many decisions. Moros wasn't a fan of losing but there wasn't any point in playing if it wasn't fun for both people. As long as Daemon didn't catch onto the fact that he was faking it then he'd be good. But if he did then Daemon would think that he was just taking pity on him and get upset. Finally there was the point that he really, really, really, wanted to win the tournament and get a cool card. Argh, "I normal summon a second King of Skull Servants to the field. Battle Phase, end this duel." Moros said reluctantly. The robed monarchs glanced at each other, nodded, and simultaneously sent blasts of dark energy spiraling forward. The evil lights glowing the eyes of his disk faded as the duel ended.
Daemon 3700 LP -> 1700 LP -> 0 LP
Daemon clicked his Duel Disk back into the standby position and sighed. The hell was he thinking? Moros was basically the ace of the school right now, no way in hell was he going to beat them. The boy didn't even bother turning to face the other, simply making his way into the card shop without muttering a word.
Moros tried to think of something to say as Daemon walked past him, but he couldn't think of anything. So he stood there as soundless as his challenger and watched Daemon walk past. Argh, he should've just let him win. Deciding that they both needed a cheer me up Moros took out the two candy bars he had in his pockets that he had been saving for lunch. He stepped in after Daemon determined to make him feel better and make up for the duel. Moros stepped in front of Daemon and steadfastedly said, "Hey, that was a fun duel, here's a reward, no hard feelings right?" He asked holding one hand out for a shake and the other with the proffered candy bar.
"Wha-?" The younger of the two was slightly surprised, the offering of candy wasn't something you see every day. Especially after a duel you've lost... "...Thanks for the offer?" It was actually a tad confusing. But Daemon had no reason to refuse... Hell, he actually felt a bit more cheered up after that. Maybe the boy had just needed to vent some anger. "...Yeah, thanks. Sorry for being so uh... Aggressive. I get a little touchy at times. I'm Daemon, by the way..." the green eyed boy reached out his hand to shake Moros', then used the one where the Duel Disk is attached to to take the offer of candy.
Hey everybody. Being an adult is hard. Being a kid is way more fun.
I've decided to start listing my dead RPs, not complete but oh well.
