Sol Windblade

As Sol anticipated, so he was barely able to bring his sheath up in time to block the kick, saving his body from injury but the raw power behind it still sent him sliding back across the field. Sol watched in puzzlement as the army vanished and a human appeared where the skeleton had once stood. It seemed his guess was right again, the flowing blood had been the begins of his body reconstructing. He allowed himself a brief grin of triumph at both his guesses being correct, then re-evaluated his foe once more.

This was the character he'd sensed behind those bones. The warrior in front of him seemed as though he had fought in a thousand wars. The axe propped on his shoulder meant he could propel it with incredible force in a downward chop, or he use the same method in a diagonal or horizontal swing. It would be best to attack on the side the axe was held so as to limit the options for attack. "Only my very best sir." Sol said cordially. Then with sheath in his right hand and sword in the other Sol launched forward attacking without even bothering to stop his momentum.

For if this was to work he would have to make the most of his speed and lighter weaponry, launching an unceasing flurry of attacks. In a seemingly stupid move Sol had gone for the most forward approach, a single stab aimed directly at the center of his opponent's chest with his sheath still held at his side. If the axe came down Sol would slide forward, between his opponent's legs and slashing upwards and striking his foe straight up the middle. If the man was as fast as Sol dreaded and there was no time to execute the slide he would bring his sword and sheath together in an X to attempt to block the fearsome axe. There was no time for second guessing or dancing around in a prolonged duel when a single mistake would doubtless result in his down fall. He had to end this quickly, one way or the other.

Exam

The man flickered out of view and appeared next to Meruin catching her before she fell into the considerable hole beneath her. "As I thought." he muttered and opened a shimmer purple portal beneath them. "Perhaps this one needs to learn her own strength." was all he said before releasing her. She would fall through the portal and land harmlessly on her bed bouncing lightly before coming to a rest. Her proctor had determined that there was no harm done to her other than exhaustion.

Sol's eyes widened incredulously and his ears twitched causing his to quickly whirl around to face his opponent. So fast! Given the skeleton's words there was no magic there, simply strength of body, at least all the strength of body a skeleton could have. With speed of that level, his strength was doubt at least equal to it. Truly a formidable opponent. Whats more it seemed he was unable to even injure the skeleton given the lack of response to his last attack. That meant he couldn't attack and rely on his opponent flinching from the blow to defend himself, any attacks he made couldn't be made at the cost of his own defense. Also it meant he felt like an idiot attacking again.

But his opponent seemed to have no inclination to attack and Sol had no desire for a stalemate. "You've made your point, doubtless you're stronger than me by no small margin. But if you think that I'll back down then you're wrong." with his statement made Sol once again stuck at his opponent. He quickly closed the gap getting inside the range of the axe and swung upwards as if to hit the skeleton's blood covered arm. However he continued his swing, the sword coming just shy of the arm and slammed into the axe where the blade met the shaft in an attempt to disarm his opponent. Sol had the dread anticipation that this attempt would do nothing and the skeleton would maintain an iron grasp on his weapon but he had to do something. If the skeleton even deigned to attack him at all Sol anticipated a brutal kick from the leg he was positioned in front of.

"You have been gathered as an elite strike force to deal with threats that one demon alone could not. Before you can deal with the real threat we need you to prove yourselves. For that reason your first mission has already been prepared. There is a caravan heading along this road to one of the major human cities. Destroy it" With that the small imp vanished in puff of smoke leaving behind the distinct scent of brimstone.

The assembled demons were currently several feet from a dirt road that was clearly well traveled. Around them stood the trees of the might forest, some stretching several hundred feet tall. They would've heard birds chirping and the slight footfalls of the forest animals had they not been driven off by their presence. Even now a faint rumbling sound could be heard as the caravan the imp had spoken off rolled along the road. It consisted of two large wagons drawn by four horses each with a total of nine horseman guarding them. The horseman were well armored in a mix of chain and plate, and armed with basic swords and shields.

Several of them had bows and the one in the front had a large mace instead of a sword. Four of the horseman were on the left with the same amount on the right and the one with the mace lead in front. The two wagon drivers both had crossbows at their sides but seemed more focused on driving then looking for an ambush. Likewise the knights were lack, chatting freely with each other and simply peering ahead looking for their destination. The assembled persons had their mission. The small caravan would pass them in approximately a minute, it was now up to them to decide how best to go about accomplishing its destruction.
