Current Peace is a Lie, there is only Passion. Through Passion, I gain Strength. Through Strength, I gain Power. Through Power, I gain Victory. Through Victory, My Chains are Broken. The Force Shall Free Me.

Too many things on that list to pick a single favorite... Too many...

Agreed,@Mahz. While it could possibly be done with a lot of work, it doesn't feel to us like the work required to do it fully would be worth the end result. Small boon simply doesn't justify immense work in the long run.

The IRC function of being used for chatroom RPs is underutilized on the guild irc, so that would be worth implementing, though. But that actually doesn't require an irc client to be built in. Just something similar, like the websocket thing in your post above.

If we throw out twenty-three bad ideas for every good/feasible one, we still feel that is worth it.

That would make sense,@Aeonumbra.

Some feel it has become a problem, @Mahz.

Some sort of irc integration would be lovely to have, but not sure whether such may be hard to implement. Tying the current guild irc to the guild site completely may be hard, considering that username systems are completely different.

Easiest would be a window in the guild with a simple irc client in it, but that would not tie to the guild userbase. Building a new guild irc tied to the guild DB might make for better integration, but would require a lot more work. We think. Can you verify that, mahz?

I just appreciated that something that is "like Twitter, but more RPG-ish" (To quote myself (Terribly pompous, I know.)) Is probably going to be used like Twitter. Because instantly-posted messages that the whole guild can read. How would that not be used as a social-media style method of bandying insults?

Hmm... Twitter has a characters per post restriction. But it isn't very rp-ish. Irc is rp-ish, and it has a characters per post restriction too. IRC is what you're looking for.

For some reason that thumbs-up rating thing annoys us. In particular, the label, "like" it has attached. Would it be better if named something like "approve"?

And on that status thing: for restrictions it could use some means for preventing people from using it as an extension of spam. Time limit between updates is logical, except it prevents fixing of spelling errors. Posts between updates is also impractical. Limiting number of edits per day/hour might work, but has the issue about spelling errors.
Each has advantages and disadvantages. Perhaps have it so that a new status won't show up on the list if you changed your status within the past 30 minutes? After all, the issue here is not so much that some people flood their own status changes as it is that they flood the public status message list.

And what if someone breaks guild rules in the status field? Do the mods have a tool to purge someone's status message?

Heh. That wasn't even an attempt at something truly complex,@Mahz.

Blame it on the GM and worldbuilder in our blood. It loves complexity and consistency.

perhaps there should some sort of limits to unlock awards in RPs? RP Post count, Time since RP start, RP finish, etc? The more numerous posts, longer duration etc. an RP has, the more awards a GM "unlocks"?

If its all free from the start, you'll start getting people creating filler RPs simply to get themselves awards.

Parameters should probably vary a bit between free, casual and advanced, but not sure entirely how, or how much.

and to open a dangerous, but somewhat important, can of worms:
Whats to stop GMs from things like "n+ trophies required to join"?

Spam, while its not bad in itself, doesn't really need rewards.

While we think they shouldn't just be for contests, we also don't think they should be handed out lightly. They should only be handed out to people for achieving something worth great notice.
