@AlysCole Rations will not necessarily run out. Many of the colonies are farm colonies, and help feed the stations. And Station to specializes in farming, and agriculture. (Cosma is one of the alien plants.)

Nutrition powder = is like a more advanced form of Soylent or other meal replacement powders. It meets all nutritional requirements for an average adult. People are given nutrition powder when they collect their monthly rations. Nutrition powder is used as a substitute for real natural food as farming it not very easy to do in space, and the colonies, space station two, and planet Cosma's farms, can not fit the supply with demand for real food. People can make soups, patties, mash, gelatin, pudding, cream, bread, and cheese consistency things to eat from the powder, but it taste like chalk, mixed with sawdust, so thats where 'concentrated Flavor extracts' come in. A tablespoon of extract onto a serving of powder makes it taste like what ever flavor you chose to buy. Not only do the extracts come in simple ingredient flavors such as banana, butter, cheddar, ham, tomato, chocolate, or potato, so that you can mix up your own meal, but they also come in meal flavors like, beef stew, fried chicken, BBQ ribs, gumbo, tacos, seafood Alfredo, pizza, or stir-fry.

@Emma this looks amazing and I hope it gathers more interest. Do you mind if I pm you to help with lore/world-building, and I also have a concept for a story arch that might make things a little interesting. I may be getting way ahead of myself but I find this to be really interesting.

Thank You! And Yeah totally PM me!

@Emma What's the current situation with Station 5 then?

What's life like there? 1000+ years is a long time, it's certainly enough time for humanity to work things out and get the station into top shape, but it's also plenty of time for things to go very wrong. Is the Station itself wellkept or is it in serious disrepair?

What the politics like? Is there racism against our alien allies? Is it out of fear and xenophobia or perhaps it's more of a condescending colonialist viewpoint because they're less advanced?

Also is the ship a democracy after so many years, or were they under martial law after the exodus from Earth?

Beautiful questions!

All will be answered in the OOC, which will be up by the 29th! :D

@Emma Cool. Ok, so some questions:

  • So are the space stations stationary? The Human race seems to be looking for a new Earth, where are the stations now? They are stationary, and set in a planets/moons gravitational fields, so they orbit like a satellite. Though they can be moved, of the need arises. When planets come up on radar that have the similar composition, and livable conditions as old earth, a specialized crew is sent out to scout and research the planet. They typically are sent by shuttle, but they are put into stasis for longer journeys, and monitored by ship AI until they reach their destination. Station locations are varied, and I will elaborate more on them in the OOC. But Station 5 is located in _____ Galaxy orbiting the planet Cosma. Cosma is home of one of the intelligent aliens I was planning for the RP.
  • And who are the other Alien species and why aren't they able to send us in the right direction for a planet to call home? I was thinking of making only one or two alien races, and they would not be as technologically advanced as the human race. Basically before contact with humans, space flight and travel was a foreign concept to them. They would not know any planets for Humans to settle on. I was also going to make the Alien races home planet unlivable for humans, due to crushing gravity, temperatures, and unbreathable air. So it was basically impossible for humans to take over and colonizes there planet anyway.
  • Is Station 5 one of the places the elites/wealthy of Earth went to or was it one designated for those last humans/their donated progeny? Station five was a mix, of elites and last humans. Though that was over 1000s years ago so it has little meaning in the present time. The donated Progeny as you put it, were sent to each station.
  • If the elites are there, is the same disparity still present on the station? There is always disparity in every society, but elites are not necessarily the wealthy anymore, rather they are the educated, and people with specialization such as doctors, scientists, and engineers. Other elites would be the people with connections and power, so police, government officials, and crime lords.
  • Are the stations still in contact with each other? The stations are all in contact with each other, except for number 2 which was lost after an unknown plague basically killed everyone about 400 years ago. The colonies also have contact through radio, but only with the stations closest to them.
  • (not really a question) I feel like 20 years might be unrealistic amount of time to build a bunch of space stations capable of housing millions of people, unless they were already nearing completion when humans realized how dire their situation was and were re-purposed. ...Lets just say they had been building the stations before hand...And building stuff was fast since technological advance of the future blah blah.

I'll leave it there for now, but I'll probably have more :)

Do you prefer digital, real, or anime pics for the character image?
The current year is 1109 A.O.

Over 1114 years ago seven space stations had been created. Each one big enough to support a population of three million people. These stations had been created for the coming end of the earth. Scientist had been monitoring earths radiation, pollution, oxygen, and resources levels for decades, and calculated that there was only about 20 years left of the earth being livable to humans. Space was the only option. Luckily they already had a colony on the moon, and a small research outpost on Mars, so living in space was not some impossible dream.

The stations were created to save humanity from extinction, and more stations were in the works to be built, but then the Nuclear World War (aka WW5) started, and construction stopped. The people deemed too important to lose (Technicians, Doctors, scientists, historians, inventor, astronauts, engineers, and specialists) were sent with their families to the stations. Over the next six months over 5,000 ships were sent packed full of people to the stations. The war got worse and flights leaving earth became harder to get on, as the rich, educated, and young were given priority over all others. Anyone with deformities, illness, medical disorders, criminal records, or over the age of 65 were denied indefinitely. Nine months later the WW5 finally ended, as it became apparent to everyone on earth that the end was coming. Riots broke out, and people gave everything they had for a seat on a shuttle. Women purposefully would get pregnant so that they could be boosted up the list for a seat.

Two months later multiple natural disasters hit one right after the other. Tsunamis sunk the countries of Japan, Iceland, Norway, Indonesia, Ireland, Philippines, Greece, Cuba, Haiti, Thailand, Somalia, New Zealand, and most of the UK, overnight. Hurricanes ripped across every continent, and earthquakes crumbled cities to dust. Those were called the months of omega.

The last of the supply ships were being sent up, when a group of scientist started the Alpha Project. The project was away to help the human race flourish. The people on earth that opted to be left behind, and the people who were denied passage were given a option of donating their sperm/eggs for rations, and given the privilege of being interviewed for one of the limited spots in cryogenic freeze. This was all done as a way to preserve the human race, and prevent inbreeding among the predicted low percent of human survivors. Practically every man and woman over 18 donated. And the sperm/eggs/embryos were sent to the stations.

And finally the day came, and the last two shuttles were filled. Leaving behind eighty million people on earth to die. Shortly after the last ship left every volcano on earth erupted at the same time, the smoke and ash blocked out the sun, and eternal winter commenced, on earth.

It has been over 1109 years since the end of life on earth. The stations are over populated, and people have been living on rations for generations. Twelve colonies have been formed on various planets. Two intelligent humanoid aliens races have been discovered. And the search for a new earth has become the number one priority. (A.O. stands for After Omega)

Basically this is a sandbox RP that takes place in the far off future, and mainly on space station #5.

The OOC will have more information about the seven different space stations, colonies, alien species, government, tech, and so on. Please feel free to ask me anything, as I find that questions stimulate my creativity, and help me in the plot/world building process. Also please add anything you are hoping to see/do in this RP. :)
YES!!!!! I have been waiting forever for a Waterworld/Gargantia kind of RPG!!!!

space station interest but:

Would it be like aliens or what?

I was hoping to make it mainly human, but with possibly one or two intelligent sentient aliens races. Any other alien species would be primitive, and animal-like. But humans would be the most technologically advanced, and the only/first to travel and colonize space.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT:: Working on the OOC now, hoping for a bit more interest before I finish it up.

Here is an official Interest check for the Space Station idea! :D
Sorry I meant are you looking to start the actual rp soon if there is enough interest. Or are you already involved in some RPs and you're not looking to start these soon.

Oh I'd say once we have at least five people interested, I'll start the OOC. If you would like me to PM you the CS so you can work on it, just ask. :)

looks interesting. I might even try to tie in #5 with a character. If that's alright with you.

Did you mean that you would use #5 idea to make a character in that kind of situation, but are interested in playing it out in the #7 space station idea thing?
Interested!
