Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

How many people are ya hoping for, Yoshi? You don't mind if I call you that, right? ^^
"We should split up and half of us attack RockHill on the other side of here, that way The Vygorns have less of an idea where we are coming from, not to mention that Rock Hill is a mining town, and going for the resources is like terrorist tactics 101, we could arrive at Rock Hill about an hour after the time they arrive at Riverdale, which would put both attacks at close to midnight, meaning that we would most likely catch them by surprise."

Cora rolled her eyes, pulling her hoodie over her new belt. She moved to stand by Aerilyn, admiring the creature perched on her shoulder. They were agreeing on battle tactics, Aerilyn, Beau, and that other dude she hadn't caught the name of. Cora wasn't sure how well they knew their geography, but the trek to RockHill was a long one under the sweltering sun. Plus, who knew what waited for them.

She shook out her short, chocolate hair, glancing at the amiable Lightning user. "Beau, was it?" She tried a smile, but it felt cold. "I like your idea of the elements splitting up, it's a good one. But let me point out some holes. When we get to Riverdale and/or RockHill, there won't be any Vygorns in alien form just waiting for us to take out. There will be guards, and there will be workers. Those workers will have families with them. We can't just go around killing innocent people in the hopes that the Vygorns will come challenge us. If anything, they'd send out more human guards to either arrest us or take us out. And we're stuck with a hard question: how far are we willing to go?

"Do we want to be known as dangerous terrorists? That's what will happen if we attack a resource. Humanity in general will hate us, when we need them on our side. How can we have sympathizers if we're feared? Right now they need a hero, cuz the elements can't do this on their own. We could very well spark a revolution, and the whole of humanity would help us remove our alien oppressors. Besides, I'd rather be on the run from the government known as a vigilante that the people have hope in, rather than a terrorist the people demand justice of.

"I'm going to Riverdale, and I'm going to try my damn best to wipe out the Vygorns and dismantle their little camp, harming as few humans as possible. But I want to hear your thoughts. Am I crazy? Or do we want to be a symbol of hope for the people?"
Cora challenged the circle, confident she was right.

"I may know how to catch the Vygorn's attention without unnecessary bloodshed. But I need to test my theory first."

She turned to the bird tamer. "Aerilyn, we haven't really introduced ourselves, but I think we could help each other out. I have a plan, but I can't do it alone. It involves something awesome, though: Do you know what Ice and Air make?" Cora said, a mischievous glint in her gray eyes.

It was hard not to notice Shida as he joined the circle, spouting hedonistic nonsense. He gave her an incredibly uncomfortable twist in the gut; she didn't trust him, or like him. So it was to her dark humor's relief when Will cooled him off, literally. Laughter escaped her lips, a sound she almost forgot existed. She'd have to speak to Will later; their elements were only different structures of each other, after all.

Fire and water were a crazy mix to watch in battle, very symmetrical in their polar-opposite-ness. Shida, however, won that round, unfortunately. The lush ground of Nature's Haven was charred and ashy, serving as a testament to their disagreement. The sight of embers in so much green made Cora really want to punch something.

Instead, she locked eyes with Shida. "This is the only nature for miles, and you think it's okay to just burn some up? Just look at your feet."

The next tragedy of Nature's Haven no one foresaw. The light user, Luce -- sweet 'lil thing -- ran into the cave like she'd seen a ghost. Light spewed from her fingers, casting unnatural shadows on the stone walls. The old man got in there like a dirty shirt, but to no avail. The light increased, and Cora watched in horror as Luce simply... Was consumed.

"Don't believe your element can't hurt you... Luce was eaten by her own power, her light."

Cora paled, glancing up at Irys who floated a couple inches above her head. "You never told me there were risks, Irys."

"Irys said there were no risks for Cora. That still holds true." The spirit's voice chimed innocently in her head.

"How do you know?"

"Cora isn't consumed yet, is she?"

"Yeah... Not the most assuring..."
I am most definitely interested in this. :D Not sure why there's not more players here yet.
Haha, Sarpy your posts are cracking me up. That talking sword was such a good idea.

Woohoo Estyl, I did think that perhaps Evelyn might help based on her CS, but I didn't actually believe she would. Thanks Estylwen. Oh, damn, if Kester thinks of her as a trustworthy person or something, he'd probably become her cat's paw...What's the likelihood of a lesser noble managing to see the court mage?

Tee hee, thanks Dlay. I had a bad feeling no one else was gonna stop you, so I intervened. ^^; This honestly works perfectly for Evelyn, gratitude is a powerful tool, as well as asking a favour. There is, in fact, something Kester can do for Evelyn...

Are you still accepting characters to this? I would be interested in joining.

Would you? That's perfect cuz I have space for one more. :3
We'd probably have your character fall from the sky with us, maybe passed out till the oasis, so your first post would likely be waking up by the water's edge. I'm looking forward to a CS and sample from ya, Dext. :)
Whatever you guys were smoking, I want some. XD

@Gingerboi:
Your backstory in your last post reminds me a lot of my own. I know I come up with good ideas, but you should really try coming up with something original. >.<
I know exactly how you feel, Zordon. I also predicted this. Honestly, with the amout of people in this RP I'm surprised we've had so many posts. It needs time for the dust to settle, though. You're a good player, this RP needs you. Just give it time for people to connect and for the stragglers to disappear. There's going to be less frequent posting soon enough, it always happens.

Cora is looking for someone to team up with. :)
"There is still Baron Agravaine, my liege."

Baron Phillip Agravaine, the black diamond of Marceilles. He had humble beginnings, and with the countless war stories and titles, Agravaine held a lot of power, respect, authority. And a lot of headaches for her. His stubbornness caused plenty of strife when it came to making deals under the table with other barons. No amount of persuasion, bribery, or threats would ever move that man to rethink his morals.

She respected and hated him for it all the same.

"Contact the best thieves you know of. There will be a great robbery that will put Phillip Agravaine out of his own lands in dishonour."

A robbery? Perfect. Thieving was an art, and she knew which rats would excel at such a job opportunity. Her darker side wanted to join them on their midnight escapade, but she resisted the urge. Not only would she compromise her freedom if she was caught, but there'd also be no one to turn the gears in the kingdom.

She barely noticed when the court's new addition finished her song. Her mind was so engrossed in secrets and possibilities that it was only the King's applaud that broke her brooding. Plastering on a new smile, she clapped her hands only as long as she had to. There was too much to think about, so much to do...

"An excellent decision, Your Majesty." Evelyn purred, gray eyes bright with mischief. "Agravaine will never see it coming. I will select my finest thieves for the job and gather further intel on the baron's castle. I'm positive Baron Garthois and I can formulate a plan for Your Majesty's viewing tomorrow."

She met eyes with Garthois, checking if he was on the same page. The bubbly chatter of the court was the perfect cover for little discussions like these, using distractions to their advantage. So it was ironically curious how Evelyn totally missed the tipsy courtier at the table, and the rows of uncomfortable faces around him. One man (she believed his name was Kester, totally clueless on the politics of His Majesty's court) looked incredibly torn as he slowly rose from his seat.

"He's not going to go help the drunken oaf, is he? That's a good way to get his reputation even more shot. I could watch him. I could. But no one benefits from what is going to happen, save his cousin Glenn." Evelyn thought, deciding to earn some brownie points.

She subtly snapped her fingers, causing a small electrical discharge to arc from her hand to the floor, snake around the seats, and zap Kester's foot. No one would notice something so quick, no. But if he took the shock cooly, it would make him second-guess standing up. Her eyes were on him, he'd see her look of warning if he glanced at the King.

She didn't enjoy anyone potentially losing face over an act of would-be gratitude. Besides, Kester reminded her of an innocence she incinerated long ago. That was her good karma for the day.

Estyl? What do our soul bodies look like? Can we see the cracks?

Soul-bodies are interesting things I should have placed more explanation on. The only times you'd see damage or cracks, or pieces of your soul flaking off would be under intense damage (like hits in battle) or after a long time of no oasis water, SE soul-bodies need a dose of that every day or so, or they'll get some symptoms back. After a week of no oasis water the SE soul-body will completely disintegrate. Souls don't show typical wear and tear like mortal bodies do, you look normal, but better. The SE disease is symptoms, for the most part. Only if you're close to death do you visibly see cracks and shatter marks.

Y'know, I've still been wondering how Wrensthavaviovus' character reacted to having a terrified scantily clad woman run away from him, and how he felt travelling down that path, and how he felt when the cat teleported, and how he felt about everything.... I'm a little sad to have heard nothing at all about it.

I'll get him back here, and make him post tonight too. ;3
