Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

It's you, me and Dlay 'actively' participating right now. There's not really enough interest/people, so I was planning on letting this go.
I dunno, this is the first real battle with the Vygorns. I think it makes a lot of sense if this round we eventually retreat as it's more of a rescue mission than anything. They have greater stamina, speed and strength in general, and we need more time to hone our own talents. Besides, that'll make round two all the more kickass. :D

@Ginger: Mmm, in my opinion rust would take too long, and if you sped it up it sounds like you have acidic water. But what about using the surface tension properties of water and create a razor that can cut through metal? :0

@Scarlet: I love what you're doing with Aerilyn, really sweet post. XD
“There is only one man we can count on, and he is the one closest to the baron himself. The advisor, Ruvelle, is obedient and loyal to us." Lucius began, immediately drawing Evelyn's interest. She recognized that name, understanding exactly how key Ruvelle could be to their plan. Lucius continued to discuss possible paths into the city, but for the castle they'd need another way. The only idea that seemed to stick was using Ruvelle to get into the castle and it's treasury.

When Lucius looked to her for an opinion, she didn't skip a beat. "So under no circumstances is Ruvelle's assistance in this matter be made known to any man in Marceilles. He's a powerful piece indeed if they are truly as close as you say.

"We would need to agree on a time and door for him to open, but there's still a risk factor in him becoming discovered in the time the thieves are within Marceilles. They'll have to sneak, stick to the shadows. That way if they encounter any persons along the way it's just Ruvelle walking the corridors, 'unable to sleep.' No one should know anything's amiss until the heist is well finished. Or at least until they empty the treasury."

Evelyn took a long sip from her wine glass, amusement in her eyes as Lucius went on a tangent of mice and kings. His opinion was similar to hers, those with money had power. "Baron Agravaine’s wealth is declining. With this heist, our liege will be more than pleased to show the foolish baron what becomes of those who hold onto chivalry in Ravenfell."

In her puzzlement over transporting Agravaine's wealth, Lucius proposed a solution that Evelyn almost felt good about. She saw the sudden insight behind his eyes, the satisfaction of a plan piecing together. "I would wager my ridiculous wealth of trinkets that there would be a sally port in the castle, not for troops, but for fleeing civilians. And fleeing civilians would no doubt find it easier to carry their belongings with the aid of carts.”

"Then we may need to verify the locations of these carts and ports." Evelyn smiled, clapping her hands thrice. "Mm, I love the sound of a scheme coming together. I'm terribly excited, probably too much for my own good."

Curiosity was written in every facet of Lucius' demeanor. “Oh, but who were you thinking of sending to commit this dastardly deed?”

"That's actually something I wanted to discuss with you, my lord. I have a few excellent thieves I know would kill for the job, but I was wondering if you wanted to invite one of your people for the heist. Divines know their talents accomplish more together.

"There's an Elven vampire amidst the ranks in the Guild named Tsu'tey Galaos. His thievery and stealth skills are talk of legend, he's quick with a bow, and I think he's exactly what we need for this heist.

"Of course, I know of a Breton who would be all over robbing a castle, and would consider it child's play. He's an expert in illusion magic, using it to run circles around his victims -- sometimes literally. Rahard Gemerth, a man who truly loves his work and is also a piece to consider."
Evelyn listed off thoughtfully, savoring the taste of ambrosia in her mouth. The wine warmed her body and brought a pleasant heaviness to her head. The image of a glowing fireplace in the home of her childhood was all she could compare it to.

"I hate to bring up the court after we've spent all evening there, but there's one final topic of interest I have for you, my lord." Evelyn said, leaning forward. "It has to do with our... Newest addition. As I assumed you spoke with her earlier, did you learn anything?"
Heehee, thank you. :'3

So, something big's coming up. How should this fight play out, guys? Vygorns are looking a little powerful right now.

A sexy, magical villain. ;3
As impeccable timing goes, Cora only heard a few words from Will on whether or not their team was coming to the rescue. The military tent flaps flew wide as a Vygorn commander and his entourage entered their chained dwellings. Fear was demanded in their presence.

"So you know each other. All the better." He glanced at his associates. "Take them to the truck."

Cora snapped an apologetic glance at Will before their cages were unlocked. She offered herself up without a struggle, letting them grab her by the arms and lead her away. Partially because she wanted to walk with her own two feet, but she also knew deep down they could overpower her at a moment's notice. With Will and his escorts right behind her, they were marched outside.

Dawn broke the night sky with bright yellows and orange hues, but Cora only caught a glimpse of the colours before gravity shifted and she slammed into the back of the military vehicle, the air kicked from her lungs. She groaned, feeling the metal bite of the cuffs around her wrists as she struggled to sit up. Two Vygorns sat on either of the small benches, someone slammed the truck doors shut, and they were speeding off seconds later. The sudden movement dropped Cora on her side again, and her stomach twisted nauseously. Swallowing hard, she eventually dragged herself onto one of the benches, resting her head on her hands as she tried to make the dizziness stop.

Where are they taking us, I wonder...

It was either an awful short ride, or her panic attacks made time seem faster. After lots of ripping around on both pavement and hard dirt, the truck came to a halt and the doors opened to a hot wasteland with trash heaps she didn't recognize. The Vygorns accompanying their captives hauled them out of the truck, forcing their legs to buckle in the trash a short distance away. One of her cuffs was released for a moment as they changed to have her hands locked behind her back -- she wasn't sure if they did the same for Will. Someone slipped a cloth over her mouth, and Cora grimly thought farewell to speaking for a while.

Hairs on the back on her neck felt like live-wire as Vygorns took up positions behind them and all around. Her most disliked alien out of them all, the Vygorn with the red streak in his hair, took up his place behind her, scoffing as he patted her head with mock pity. She could feel his eyes on her even after refusing to meet his gaze, the only grace she could maintain while gagged. His touch made her twitch.

After discussing amongst themselves, the commander nodded, his gaze searching the hills. "Good. Now, we wait."

Wait? Wait for what? Cora frowned, sending an anxious look to Will. The Hygron didn't seem concerned, as she should have assumed from Water. His eyes shimmered with power, and she nodded.

Wait for them...

I drew Cora the other day, and it turned out really well. :D

I sketched Evelyn the other day for kicks. Of course, I have no idea how to draw gold embroidery... XD
Morning it is!

@Xzayler: I think it might be wise to appoint someone to puppet the Vygorns while your away, cuz we have a big battle coming up and it should be done right this time. An intense battle where players attempt an attack, but don't know if it'll connect, and if there will be a counterattack that wipes them off their feet. (It does require a lot of reaction feedback.)
"No one should be alone..."

"Hm. You truly live up to your title as a Water Hygron. I oughta be more like you." Cora said halfheartedly, leaning back from the bars.

She tilted her head to the side, thinking. Holding up her cuffed hands, she created a hovering sphere of crystalline ice. Tendrils and mist swirled off the slowly rotating ball. It was almost transparent, glinting in the light. With a finger she poked it, and it rippled on the spot, fluid waves reaching all the way around the sphere. Stretching and pulling at the ball, Cora continually tested it to behave like water rather than ice.

"I can manipulate ice like this, takes a bit of concentration. It looks fluid like your element, but as soon as I stop..." The ball stretched and swirled out of her cage, swimming through the air as it made for Will's hands. She dropped it in his lap, and the ball of ice was merely a ball of ice. Solid, cold, and unforgiving.

"I am destined to be forever cold without feeling it. It's fun to play pretend, though." Cora said, the slightest smile on her face. "Our situation is fucked, Will. But... I do appreciate you following me. Did you tell the group at all where you were headed?"
