Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Files on the blessed of Kyra: the Elementals, and their adversary.

Elementals: Void Assault OOC
Irys, I'm so lost. Where do we go? Cora squinted through the sandstorm, throwing her arms up in an attempt to shield herself from the biting shrapnel. The howl of wind was stronger on her right, probably where the eye of the storm was. Standing in the eye sounded like a pleasant idea, especially with all the grit flying at her. But getting closer to the tornado would probably take her off the ground.

"To the left!" Her spirit's voice chimed in her thoughts. At first Cora was skeptical, the left direction felt like the way they came, the way that led back to the Vygorns. Those terrible, terrible aliens. But as she shuffled closer, a figure appeared in the whipping sand. She got closer and tapped his shoulder. Phil, an iron grip on his weapon and a confused look in his eye.

She nodded to him. Kay Irys, how do we get out of here? It was too painfully windy to bother trying to communicate, so Cora took him by the wrist and started leading the two of them out. It felt like they were walking forever, taking turns here and there as Irys expertly led them away from Vygorns trying to scout the storm. Eventually the wind slowed down, and the haze of sand cleared as they broke out of the tornado's grasp. They were on the same ridge Shida had commanded the team behind, but no one was there to greet them.

No one.

Oh God. Cora swallowed the guilt building up in her chest, turning to Phil. "The aliens aren't too far behind us, we have to keep moving. I abhor leaving the others behind, but there's nothing we can do..."

She broke into a jog, using the scattered trash of the wasteland as cover. "We'll rendezvous with them back at Nature's Haven, and sort this mess out then." She didn't say anything else as she navigated the way back to Kyra's oasis, trying to ignore thoughts of death clouding her mind. Who made it, who didn't. She felt sick when she remembered the Water Hygron. Will was right beside her when Phil freed them, how could she have lost sight of him? God, what if he didn't make it back? What if none of them made it back?

Stop this. Now. She begged herself, feeling a panic sweep through her body. They were almost there, she could see the mountain path clearly. She just had to hold out a little longer.

Cora was in a dead run all the way up the mountain. She had to run from the thoughts, from everything. Keeping it together was top priority until she was inside. Wolgran would have to be told, and she knew his reaction wouldn't be good. Hell, Kyra was probably mad at her too. Yeah? Even the goddess of the earth? Fuck.

She could see the mouth of the cave, a black hole surrounded by hot stone of the mountain face. But as she neared, her steps slowed. Something feels wrong. Cora couldn't put her finger on it, but there was definitely something going on. The air of the cave felt much drier, and she entered with apprehension. What greeted her gaze was something beyond the most unholy of unholies.

It was dead. The Haven was dead. The grass lay in clumps of matted brown, the trees were withered and skeletal. Scatters of shriveled mushrooms were all that remained of what used to be huge and beautiful. Even the brook had dried to a trickle, almost impossible to sip from. There was a feeling of desecration in the walls of the cave, and it was as silent as the grave. Not a breath of wind. Nothing.

Cora slowly removed her hood and mask, jaw slack with doe eyes. Every part of her denied what she saw. "...W-Wolgran? Are you there?" The cave didn't stir. The sound of nothing was her reply. "Wolgran? Please Wolgran!"

Her voice cracked, and she collapsed to her knees, head in her hands. "Please, you can't be gone too. We have nothing. We have nothing and it's all my fault. I wanted to do something on my own, and my arrogance was my downfall." She drew a haggard breath, feelings of guilt and pain pouring in tears from her eyes. "It should have been my doom. I should have died! But I was saved, because those idiots thought my life was that important. I was saved, and I'm here now. And what do I have to show? Nothing. The Vygorns still breathe, and I bet it was they who destroyed this precious Haven.

"It's my fault. It's all my fault. Will, Aerilyn, Shida, Thema, everyone... Their deaths will be on my head, and mine alone. And there is nothing I can do to atone. Nothing... Nothing... There is infinite emptiness in nothing. How could the aliens find such beauty in a shadow?"

Cora tilted her head back, staring helplessly at the cave ceiling. "How could this tragedy be?"
Hi Urukhai, glad to hear it. :)

My Fellow Remaining Elementals: I'm about to post in the IC, and I've made it so Cora believes everyone but Phil and her didn't make it back alive. If you'd like to prove her wrong, come regroup at the Haven. And about the Haven, since I have a feeling we won't be seeing anymore of Wolgran, I had the Vygorns work their magic while everyone was away. Which is okay, we'll find a new Haven with its own nature when we reach one of the cities.

I'll see about finding a few users to write with us too.

It's sucks that Xzayler is gone, but if we're going to move forward with this again I'd like to have two Co-GMs running the thread, preferably myself and someone else, if they're interested. I'm on here a lot, and I love this story so much I've been passive-aggressively fighting to keep it alive for the past three weeks. So I would be honored if you accepted me as one of the Co-GMs. //bows

I think that about wraps it up. Love ya~ =w=

I posted as everyone except for Deborah and Valjean, since I don't know what to do with them at the moment, but I'll post as them later.

I'm looking forward to that part the most. XD
Not I. I think he's abandoned ship. :/
Im glad you like it. :)
And perhaps there will be more Elementals drawn to the call of the cave too. We need some fresh blood members to get us rolling again. In the next couple days I'll post in the IC, and I'll see about 'advertising' us in an interest thread. Does that sound alright? ^^
Wow, it's busy here. =w=
I've added a few relationships to my sheet.
I was thinking those who 'survive' the attack against the aliens rendezvous back at Nature's Haven, and from there travel to one of the cities to hone our abilities. Play-battles against ourselves, maybe team up against bandits (cuz the cities are quite corrupt, the people have nothing.) Eventually working our way to when we feel comfortable with even facing the Vygorns, and stuff...

What do you think?

Yup, yup. Timeskip it up~
Aislin made a show of blushing, waving her hands about. "Oh my, you flatter me, darling." She said, laughing. The blonde confirmed her name was Alex, much to Aislin's amusement. I like this gal already. Her dark-haired friend quietly excused herself, heading on her way to the dorms with what looked like her own roommate. There was an awkward feeling between them, but Aislin merely watched with a half-smirk before turning her gaze back to Alex.

"Oh yeah, I can already tell we're gonna have lots of fun this year. I've never had a roommate, but I'm super easy to get along with as long as you don't mind the furniture walking around occasionally." She raised her hand, anticipating Alex's confusion. "I promise it's entirely harmless. When I uh, daydream objects have been known to wake up, but without an intent from me their temperament is naturally playful, maybe a little dumb.

"But I probably have you even more confused now. Um, it's a form of what I can do, my ability."
Aislin bit her lip, feeling like she was rambling. "I can program objects to do things, pretty much. Seeing as I've never shared a room with anyone I didn't think my power would inconvenience someone stuck in the same room with all their own stuff..."

She snapped her fingers, realization lighting up her blue eyes. "Speaking of stuff, our luggage is already up in our rooms, right? I'd like to see if all my items made it in one piece. What number are we, again?" Aislin checked her slip of paper. "318? Dammit, we're only one off from the school numbers."

Aislin briefly wondered which level their room was on. Dorms with hundreds of rooms usually had the first number of the room as the floor level. So what, level three? Maybe we'll have a room with a view! Heights never bothered her; the higher the better, it was the one time she felt tall and small at the same time.

"Master Alex," She said theatrically, standing with the attitude of a butler. "Shall we partake in a tour of our new establishments? I believe we are housed in the third floor."

Tossing her head back, she laughed at herself while turning to the elevators. The down arrow button glowed white as she pressed it, making a satisfying click sound. Aislin was almost tempted to push it again. Glowing buttons never get old.

"Christoper Fox? Who is this fuckwit?" Said a loud asshole.

Oh look, an asshole. Aislin narrowed her eyes. I hate assholes. An immense amount of irritation welled up in her chest, flipping around her attitude faster than if she was bipolar. Well, maybe she kind of was. Nothing ever upset her. Ever. Except this one little thing: assholes. Just their speech made her feel contaminated, like she absorbed some of their stupid rage. It felt like choking on sweaty gym shoes.

The elevator still hadn't arrived, and Aislin knew exactly what devious deed she wanted to inflict on the asshole. Pushing her emotions aside, she closed her eyes a moment, and opened them on his shoes. The laces wiggled to life, quietly untying themselves and reaching out to each other. They made a mess of knots between the two shoes, tying his feet together to such an extent he'd need something sharp to cut the strings. Of course, they were as subtle as possible in their mischief; it wouldn't do to have him know of his restricted movement before he tried walking. The harder the fall, the better.

The laces fell quiet as Aislin disconnected, blinking as she glanced back at the elevators. One of the silver doors opened just then, and she pulled Alex in with her. "So, I would say 'let's get the fuck outta here', but I tied that asshole's shoes together," She discreetly pointed him out in the lobby, holding a hand on the door so it wouldn't close. "And I kind of sadistically wanna watch what happens. Totally up to you, though."

It was only in a third glance that Aislin noticed the lady under the arm of the asshole. Oh shit, Deborah?! She was instantly confused why she was with such a loser and not Shannon, but maybe there was more to the story. Aislin's heart skipped a beat when she considered the fact that Deborah might not like her boyfriend getting pranked. Too damn late for that. And not only was she Cerebral, she knew Aislin's power.

Before Deborah put two and two together, Aislin jammed the 'close doors' button, only relaxing when the lift was swiftly moving up. "Damn, the prankster never gets caught red-handed..." She muttered to herself, trying to slow her heart rate.
