Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Kay, Wrens. I look forward to your post. :)
If there's no post for Urukhai by tomorrow I'll puppet a short post for him, just to keep things moving. Along with a fast-forward to morning.

Haha, don't worry Xzayler. People just get busy sometimes. It would be easier to have Sig come in the morning, we need everyone to finally sleep. :p
I'd have to agree, we have the perfect amount for this cast. :)

Just posted! What a crazy battle, I hope Henry's alright. D:
Had she changed directions a moment sooner the chase would have ended right then. The Beast rushed inches past her, splintering a tree as opposed to her spine. Desperately, Aislin aimed once more for the ocean's edge, easily spying it just beyond a clearing in the jungle. Leading the chase through the break in the trees, however, couldn't have been a more grievous mistake. The Beast was upon her before she even made it halfway.

The hair on the back of her neck pricked, and in her peripherals she saw a great, clawed hand unleash in an arc. Blades gripped her side as the Beast hurled her into the air. She met the gritty ground in a rolling, haphazard heap among the brush in the clearing, loose stones scraping her skin as the impact knocked the air from her lungs. She swore she heard a rib crack.

Stunned, Aislin could barely feel her own body coming to a stop on her back. Her eyes blearily took in the sunlight, hardly registering anything but the fire tearing up her chest. The Beast roared, the ground quaking in her ear as his footsteps closed in. He hovered over her like a great shadow of hell, blocking out the sun from her sky.

I'm dead. She realized. This is it.

But for some reason he stopped, snapping his monstrous head around to glare down the jungle forest. Aislin slowly rolled her head to look, fighting back the urge to cry out. In fuzzy double-vision she saw a tall figure standing beyond the Beast's enormous leg, closer to the clearing's edge. A scarf fluttered to the dirt. Who... wait, Theresa!

The arrow that spurred some hope in Aislin was only shrugged off by the Beast, the wound sealing in moments. Theresa yelled to run, and Aislin slowly picked herself up from the ground. She clutched her bloody side, only getting a few steps before collapsing. God, I can't move.

Their battle was loud enough that it finally got the staff's attention. In the back of Aislin's mind it dimly registered that Henry was in the jungle with his excursion team. He came to their aid in the nick of time, engaging the Beast with wicked ferocity.

Theresa appeared over her. "This might seem weird... but... it'll help..." She said, rubbing her skin. At first Aislin just furrowed her eyebrows, confused and in a great deal of pain. Then it made sense. A warm, glowy feeling crept up on her, nullifying the pain in degrees. Her vision took on a haze as Theresa's drug hit her harder than morphine.

Feeling like liquid melting into the ground, Aislin sluggishly raised her head. With the pain receding, she remembered what she desperately needed to tell her. "Don't... Don't kill him, it's Jaska. That monster is Jaska!"

Aislin watched in horror as Henry's skull collided with the trees, splintering the wood as many snapped in two. After the dust settled he didn't move, his body limp against the broken trunks. No, no, no! To make matters worse, the trunks strangely sprouted teeth, their gaping mouths eager for reptilian flesh.

"The trees are biting him..." She whimpered, mildly hallucinating.

As the Beast turned his golden, hateful eyes to them, a cloaked figure appeared between them, cape flailing in the wind of its own speed. Theresa confirmed Aislin's original suspicion. I saw that cloak earlier today... It has to be-- "Dana!"

"Run!" Dana cried in a warped voice. With unnatural speed she moved behind the Beast, slitting his neck. Aislin was in range of the spray of blood, recoiling as the spots of copper burned her skin. Theresa's powerful drug lessened the pain, but her wounds were still in the process of healing. She wasn't sure if she could crawl, nevermind run. Dana dodged the Beast's charge, almost teleporting from one place to another.

This has to stop. Aislin panicked. He's too powerful. We're all gonna die if this keeps up. She struggled to her feet once more, holding her side that only dully ached. She gave Theresa a reassuring glance before turning her gaze to the blue ocean just out of reach. Her sense of balance was nullified from the drug's influence, and she tumbled on wobbly legs into the trees. Rolling down a small dirt mound, she came to a stop on the beach. The salt of the ocean stung her nose, and Aislin crawled on all fours to the foaming waves lapping against the shore.

The moment her hand touched the cold water it became attracted to her, building up from the water line. It rose up in a tidal wave, sweeping Aislin along in its wake. Easily scaling the height of the jungle's middle branches, the tsunami rushed toward the Beast as it drenched the clearing with water. It aimed to engulf the monster whole, moving with their combined momentum in a spherical shape along the clearing. Aislin washed up to the side, dispelling the water after several moments, an exhausted grimace flashing across her face.
I was planning on offering that option when we had a 'working Haven' again, with Wolgran's presence and all. So he could get one in Atlanta, possibly.

And you could join us either at the Haven, along the way, or even in one of the towns. Kyra's magical in such that you'll be drawn to where ever the rest of the Elementals are.

Edit: Welcome to Sig. How big is is his turtle in like, feet? XD
Thank you! I'm having a lot of fun with this scene. And yes, go for it. Be as monstrous as you'd like. XD
Well I posted anyway, just cuz the post pretty much wrote itself. XD
You should totally link me up when it's done!
Evelyn Keove

The night was consumed in a flurry of paper. Evelyn tore through her old books, surrounding herself with text and arcane symbols atop the desk in her rented room. She had to get to the bottom of this. Oh, she would simply not rest until she knew what he was. Yes, this Wrensthav individual called himself a relic collector, but there was more to it. All her life she had never come across such strange, potent magic. It behaved differently, it's make-up was alien.

Her books came up with the wrong answers. No, it couldn't be dragon magic. She knew that magic inside and out, and it was far more transparent than anything she saw within Wrensthav. The next answer was deadric magic, which implied Wrensthav was something purely evil to torment mortals. That didn't seem right, and Eveyn discarded that idea too.

"White sand... White sand... His scent, the ambrosia. What does it mean?" She asked herself in building frustration. "What is he? No mortal could possess that infinite-like magic, no matter how alien."

She snarled, throwing the book on dragons across the room. It hit the wall with a satisfying thud, sliding down in a heap on the floor. Her feet paced in perfect circles while she brewed, the grace of an elf not lost despite her fits of anger. For a long time she thought, but she couldn't come up with anything conclusive as the first rays of dawn began peeking over the hills.

Evelyn let out a sigh, retiring to her bed for a short time. Elves naturally didn't need much sleep, not that they actually did. Evelyn remained aware of her surroundings, but her head began to swim with dream-like hallucinations. She watched with mild interest, focused mainly on relaxing. After three quarters of an hour, Evelyn got up and splashed some water on her face.

With the sun fully embracing the sky, Evelyn raised the hood of her robes back to the top-back of her head where it would snugly remain. She clipped a leather belt around her hips that holstered her sword. The sheath hid its actual design, but just the shape of it gave away its elvish origins. She also took a small satchel, filled it with the few books and things she brought, and slung it over her shoulder. With a quick glance about her room, Evelyn walked out the door with a nod. Leaving the Honeyden behind, she made her way out of Bastille and up the mountain trail to the shrine.

Mattien Arior

His mace urged him awake in the dead of night, scarcely before dawn showed its face on the sky. It glowed vehemently from across the room, pulsing in veins of orange-red. Mattien struggled awake, instantly recognizing Ra-Shin's direct influence.

"I will be on my way, Master." He said sleepily, rising from his sheets even though all he wanted to do was roll over and sleep off the rest of his hangover. Unfortunately, he'd simply have to power through his building headache.

Wringing out a wet cloth, the colossal warrior wiped down his naked body and dragged a comb through his long hair. He donned his clothes and armor quickly, strapping his (still impatiently glowing) mace to his back. With a satisfied huff, Mattien left his room and made his way out of Bastille.

The morning light crept into the sky as the warrior, bitterly rubbing his temples, came upon the mountain shrine. It was a long path to almost nothing, the shine being no less than a circular stone in the earth, about 14 feet in diameter. Three stone statues of a curious nature were at the far end facing the entrance, tall enough to tower over Mattien's head. The entire shrine was encircled by large elm trees.

As he took in the scenery, quiet footsteps came up from the path behind him. He turned to see the Battle Mage herself, geared up and positively stunning in the sunlight. He was speechless.

"Finish your prayers and be on your way. I have business here." The elf said, her voice smooth as silk.

Mattien broke into a grin. "You misunderstand my intentions, mi'lady. You're the one I've been waiting for." He pulled his black mace from off his back, brandishing it proudly as he fell back in a defensive stance. "I am Mattien Arior, and I wish to travel with you, Battle Mage!"

The elf simply scoffed, conjuring an elegant, semi-translucent blade in her hand. It glowed a light purple, and she flipped it around in her hands expertly before pointing the tip at Mattien's chest. "Your eyes will not see this, just forewarning you."

Mattien opened his mouth to disagree, but a gust of wind stopped him. He blinked, and watched with horror as one of his golden locks fell from his hair. His hand reached for it in vain as it dispersed on the breeze. "My... Hair..."

Evelyn twirled her blade again, having closed the distance and sliced him in the time he closed his eyes. She had no time for playing around.

The elf turned her back to him. "You're dismissed."

Mattien's fury rose sky high. No one, and he meant, no one touched his hair. Tapping into his god's power, Mattien slammed his mace into the circular stone, cracking it. A dark, pungent aura encircled him as he glowered at Evelyn. "Again. Come at me again."

The orange-red magic Evelyn could see rippling off the warrior seemed to pique her curiosity. She faced him, conjured sword raised. "Hm... You're not all you seem either."
Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave. Aislin could feel the weight of them coldly appraising her; the child she formerly knew was non-existent behind those piercing, soulless eyes. For a moment, the fear was too much. Her knees quivered and locked in place. Her heart was in her toes, her stomach somewhere on the jungle floor.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under his feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. His footsteps left cracks, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw, breaking Aislin free from the fear. Time almost slowed down as her body reacted before her brain. She knew, deep down, that roar meant she needed to run. Fucking now. As her heel turned and dug into the dirt, the jungle floor beneath the Beast began sucking him down. Her powers turned it into deep, fluid quicksand, giving under the Beast's weight at an alarming pace.

Simultaneously Aislin created the bubble of earth under her feet again, and she shot off into the forest, quickly solidifying the quicksand. Her speed made the trees shake as she zipped by, much quicker than when Jaska and her raced before. This speed was reckless, she could barely keep up to herself. She had no time to register the branches she needed to evade, and came close to taking her face square off.

The direction didn't matter. Aislin didn't care, simply getting away was what she needed if she wanted to live. Wait, the school! Her fear had dissolved almost all her thinking, making her only realize now that the school was her best shot. The staff knew how to handle powerful metas. But, watching the jungle whizz by in a blur, Aislin was filled with a sense of dread. Oh God, I'm lost!

It was only a matter of time before the Beast caught up. How could she possibly lose him?!

The answer hit her square in the face. Water! She needed a body of water, stat. Pronto. She could move faster in that than him any day. Aislin wasn't aware of any bodies around her, but she could see the ocean glinting through the foliage. Changing course, she headed straight for it. She wasn't sure if she'd make it in time.

Thunderous footsteps were only getting closer behind her...
Ah, it looks much better now. XD
I'll try to have a post for ya soon~
