Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

This roleplay has become quite... facinating, I think. The murder mystey is playing out beautifully, and I can't begin to guess who's guilty. >w>

In the dark crepuscule Aislin felt a creeping evil, a familiar demon. The blackness held the hot devil's breath on her neck. For just a moment, Adam and Dana faded to the background. Her imagination painted a hovering cigarette light playing off the shadows, the air smelling of cherry smoke.

His words rang clear in her mind, spoken by the devil's tongue. "I'm wondering why a little child like yourself is wandering around these neck of the woods all by yourself...."

What a malicious, fear-inspiring being. How did one become to be so wicked? She didn't know his name, nor a thing about him. But his presence cratered hers in the brief time their paths twisted. Irrevocably, she was scarred, traumatized. He would be the source of her nightmares for a long time to come, she knew.

His words were all too fitting, dwelling on it now. "... Don't you know there's monsters out there?" Shivers tickled her spine with clammy fingers. The fear felt branded to her heart, permanent and cruel.

A blinding light interrupted the darkness, forcing a strangled whimper from Aislin. It was merely the teacher, and as always he had just what they needed. Adam pressed a second flashlight into her hands, which she took gratefully. Sometimes her mind was too vivid, even for her own liking. She quickly flashed the device on, sweeping a bright spot of light over where she imagined the glowing cigarette. Somehow it made her feel better. Just slightly.

Adam actually agreed with her. Maybe paranoia was an asset here. "I get the feeling that something is strange here. Because blackouts on this scale are very rare..."

Aislin was silent, still hung up on the whole experience she had in the caves. Who wanted the stranger... Well, killed? What was his connection to the blue lady? What was their purpose on the island? And the killer himself, specifically... Was it a one-time deal, or would he strike again? And who, not what, killed the school's power?

The questions piled up, and Aislin had nothing. Her single lead was finding the blue lady. Who else would have her answers? Of course, she went about it all wrong before. Would she even have the guts to pursue such a hellish quest? No... At least, not alone.

Adam gave them a plan of action. "We are going to head to the only place I know has power; the hospital."

Aislin nodded, but she was puzzled. "How do you lock a school down in a blackout? I'm a little worried about everyone floundering about out there..."

They'd have to take this one step at a time. Her own agenda would have to wait. And she needed some down-time, now more than ever. Today was just a mess; she swore it was a new record for shittiest, most near-death kind of day she'd ever experienced. Two attempts on her life, she tripped on powerful drugs, woke up in a hospital, plus she busted her phone and was in serious need of a shower. Yeah, when this power outage was taken care of she was peacing.

As Adam held the Training Hall doors open for them Aislin placed herself behind Dana's chair, wheeling her onto the path outside. Eh, she figured she'd save Dana's arms the trouble. Besides, she wanted her opinion.

"You've been here longer than I, Dana." She began, knowing years couldn't help much in their current situation. She pressed on anyway. "Have you ever seen anything like... This? I don't just mean the lockdown. I mean, what happened at the caves. Would the killer be the type to strike again?"
I just realized this roleplay totally foreshadowed itself, which is sick. When the power went out during CTF, there was a death too. All of Shannon's bugs.
