Hence the existence of Hell and other religious concepts of perdition and divine wrath. It is another side of the same coin; it invents a consequence that death is preferable to. I recently took a visit to an Earth in the midst of its own version of the early 21st century; one of the major societal problems of the day was religious radicalization, leading to the rise of terroristic groups that were more than willing to die to impose their doctrine upon the world. That is not possible for a state that deals solely in death threats.
There must be fear of death, and there must be fear of Hell. But Hell is meaningless without Heaven, so there must be promise of escape from suffering, if the man acts according to what is demanded of him.
Perhaps so! But the true disadvantage of any afterlife promise is that it can't be seen, and the consequences are distant. So we need a different solution.
Suicide is a result of fear. It's fear so great it overcomes self-preservation; the animal destroys itself to avoid an overwhelming negative stimulus.
Death is merely the most convenient of the methods of compelling fear. It is, by no means, the most powerful.
Indeed! Thus if reality itself were to offer a universally feared consequence in which death itself a preferable alternative, it would be robbed of its power.
If death was really the worst possible outcome, no one would, you know, kill themselves or something. Nobody would take any risks with their lives either. So for some people, there's clearly something better than how bad death is, or something worse. Part of what makes death powerful is that it's universal.
Would you mind if I PMed you regarding an idea for a plot with Lucy? I'm about to start submitting the charsheets for Lucy's pawns (and some other people connected to him) and I might need some help with how to handle it
Yeah, hit me.

Cool, thanks! I’m thinking he dug too far down into the ground, found a rift/glitch in his world that he thought he could eat. He bit into it and now he occasionally hops dimensions without really knowing why. Probably some weird reaction with his particle accelerator, not that he knows or cares.
You know, I'm cool with that. You have any particular way you're looking to start or do you just want him to start meeting new people?
Okey, I have done the things. I’m pretty sure anyway.
Name Seltzer
Species Armalizamon
Appearance A reptilian Digimon based loosely on an armadillo lizard. He is covered head-to-toe in tough magenta scales with glowing neon green accents. Seltzer is built like a compact mini-kaiju and stands at about 9 feet tall. Heavy limbs, three claws for hands, and a heavy tail with a glowing green gem at its tip. His presence is physically weighty and his steps often cause subtle tremors in softer ground.
Abilities
Particle Accelerator Physiology: Consumes high density minerals as “fuel,” powering the particle accelerator that runs throughout his body like veins. When well-fed, his scales become noticeably harder, his overall mass increases, and his attacks are much more destructive.
High Durability: Extremely resistant to blunt force, blades, and heat. Can physically shield others and hold his ground against stronger opponents by brute durability alone.
Neutron Laser : A focused, high-penetration particle beam fired from his mouth after a brief charge (audible high whine + bright yellow glow). Bores an unsettlingly clean hole through most natural and manufactured materials. Energy shields, magical barriers, and similar defenses can disrupt or blunt the piercing effect.
Neutron Diffuser: A weaker, scattered/splitting beam used for area denial, warning shots, or clearing space.
Neutron Blade: Extends the scales on his arms to cover them with a blade-shaped beam of charged particles that burn clean through enemies.
Death Roll Press (Ball Form): Can curl into an armored sphere and roll with surprising speed. Can jump high while rolled, ricochet over terrain, and hit targets like a living wrecking ball. Strongest when well-fed and heavy.
Weaknesses
Fuel Dependency: His strongest abilities and maximum durability require sufficient mineral intake. Low fuel noticeably reduces his effectiveness and willingness to fight.
Low-Energy Mood Shift: When running low, instincts push him to avoid conflict, conserve energy, and pursue food more aggressively. He may become irritable, territorial, or uncharacteristically callous until refueled.
Not Subtle: Loud, heavy, and glowing. Poor at stealth and has a quiet but noticeable hum when it’s dead quiet.
Kid in a Kaiju Body: Seltzer is basically as stated above. He is naive, inexperienced, and pretty socially unaware.
Interaction Notes (Mostly for me lol) Seltzer tends to speak in short deadpan lines. He’s also pretty blunt. Just know I’m not trying to personally attack anyone if he says something a bit rude.
Looks pretty cool--I've asked a couple Digimon fans in the group to review.
In the meantime, do you have a backstory for how he became interdimensional?
