Bldg 1, Ground floor stairwell > First Floor stairwell landing
A blue transportation circle appeared on the floor next to the stairs to the first floor, and then Qaymu shimmered into being, floating briefly over the floor as his body seemed to sharpen and fill out. The next moment he was falling, landing on his feet with a gasp of pain. His left arm flailed out, desperately grabbing the handrail and holding on for dear life until the nausea subsided.
His human disguise faded, revealing his scaly bronze head. Qaymu looked down at the tied handkerchief in his right hand - then as he heard voices above, abruptly shoved it in the pocket of his trench coat. Rolling his right wrist, he checked his watch and scowled. The transportation circle had returned him only minutes after he departed from the condo, giving him the last few hours to relive. He must have left something out when he was reciting the spell.
Stealing himself, he climbed the stairs, still wearing his garrison hat.
Arriving at the first floor landing, Qaymu's eyes darted to each of them - Theria, the other Max, Velvet, and Iris.
"May I ask," Qaymu rasps, his voice deeper than usual, "What the hell is going on, here?"

We could always maintain a "petting zoo." Most cities have ordinances against livestock, but perhaps cages of laboratory rats in one of the safe rooms? Great way to get rid of all those table scraps.
I wonder if they hold a blood drive in the city every two or three months, with some of the blood coming to the condo? Might be easier than relying on old blood from hospitals and blood banks. Or if some enterprising witch has come up with a shelf-stable long life blood or blood substitute?
I wonder if it's in Max's contract that he needs to be a blood donor? He may be throwing away his reward with the wagyu beef - got to keep that supply up, after all.
It's weird there's not already a minifridge at the front desk with petrification and vampire bite cures. Perhaps small bottles of blood (typed, not aged) - or a large one in a chilled fire extinguisher case marked "Open in case of vampire". We can always tell the mundanes it's just a left-over gag from Halloween. Add a microwave or a warmer and you'd be all set.
And maybe a safe for cash or atm machine in the corner from the Gnome Bank. (If you're a patron for over a century, you get a free coffin. They make for great coffee tables, conversation pieces, shelves, and of course you can sleep in it.)
I'm sure there's times where the restaurant is closed, I wonder if there's a vending machine or two with like beef jerky (always out just after the full moon), various candy bars, crackers, chips (or crisps), and of course an ice machine. Maybe one of those Pizza machines. But Max would have to be the one who restocks the machine - no outside vendors.

Typically ghosts are anchored to where they died, but there's a suggestion they're still tied to their bones. I wonder how Suzy wound up checking in, or if she's been here the entire time? Construction sites are a great place to hide bodies.
