Since only bunkbeds were described, I'm going to assume there's either a lack of furniture (pretty isolated island) or it's stored someplace and Ruth couldn't convince someone to help her bring it back and wasn't strong enough to lift it.
I wonder if there'll be shopping trips back to civilization? They do have a helicopter. Cheap flat-pack furniture should be easy enough to find and bring back.
So are the sexes divided by left/right or are the women on the ground floor while the guys are all on the second?
@MikkPikkel93 I was hoping for more information, so I'm just going to go with the beds being the only furniture in the room and try to pump Ruth for more info.
"Hi," Mags said to Ruth as she entered Room 104, taking a good look at her. "I'm Magdalene Vulpe, but everyone calls me 'Mags'. Which bed is yours?"
If they were available, the other two women were likely to want top bunks. She was fine with a bottom bunk, but she wanted curtains for a bit of personal privacy - assuming she could rustle up a lamp from somewhere. Or curtains. Mags glanced around the room, noting the bunkbeds but no other furniture or decorations, just bare walls.
Talk about a depressing place, she thought. The ex-sergeant put her duffle down at the foot of the nearest set of beds.
"Wow, this looks like my old barracks room," Mags said with a sigh. "What's the situation here for closets? Or furniture?"
"What's this place like? Anything going on after dark?"

A kitchen perhaps on the ground floor?
An office by the main entrance? Stairs at each end of the building and in the middle? A

A cafeteria someplace?
What about vending machines?
A coffee urn?
A microwave?
How about booths or alcoves with ancient payphones?
Basically stuff we would have seen on the way in?
