@Digizel Btw, Digi, whenever you roll a miss, you get 1 EXP. Because you rolled a miss before, you now have 1 EXP.
Good to see that Brutrumukk's influence hasn't stopped at Jub's racial dysphoria.

Listen, it's still early days. Small steps xP
I am also ready to move on.

Also Kendra is definitely wondering if ghosts can read minds right now xP
Prestidigitation?

Correct. It's even Jub's most used cantrip at this point.
Jub: Has a spell that could make Aurora's rations take like truffles
Also Jub: Probably isn't nice enough and doesn't know care about Jingle Jangle enough to offer to do so

One day I'll play a nice character in one of these xP One day.
Jub the Peculiar

Jub was glad that Brutrumukk took iniative on the conversation with Jingle Jangle. Giving the wizard's previous experiences with his own kind, he wasn't really sure how to approach this. She seemed harmless enough, though the fact she had given up the key without so much as asking for anything in return was suspicious. He glanced over at Aurora. "Why didn't she ask for anything in return? I thought there was a rule of reciprocity around here," he quietly muttered to the elf. "This just seems a little too easy, don't you think?"
After sharing a glance we each other, Tamba and Fogdance nodded. "Now that I'm aware of the Darkness' tricks, I will to hold down the fort until you return," Fogdance said.

"Don't take too long though, okay?" Tamba added. "After freeing Fogdance from the Darkness, it probably won't be happy if it runs across you again."

Pleexem didn't say anything, just giving a small nod along with Tamba's words before casting his eyes down to the ground.
Kendra: tfw you like hanging out with someone but they cause you to have crushing existential dread every time they speak to you
Kendra

Kendra glanced at Grace when she made the comment about needing practice. They had a feeling they knew what, or rather who, the spirit was referring to, and wasn't entirely sure how to respond to that. Was Grace just joking or did she seriously hope to take out her murderer that way? On one hand, it would probably be a simpler way to deal with him than trying to find enough evidence to get him convicted. On the other hand, what was to stop him coming back as a spirit himself, and likely a much more dangerous, malevolent one than Grace herself? While Kendra had been aware of the supernatural for some time, they hadn't had much experience with ghosts until Grace showed up. Now she was left with that existential concern: what cause people to linger after death? Obviously, it didn't happen to everyone, and it wasn't a curse that was passed on like vampirism or lycanthropy.

What's to stop me from coming back after I die? was the question Kendra was trying not to ask herself. She found the world an aggravating enough place in life, to think she'd still have to put up with it even after death was ghastly. But then again, what was the alternative? Once Grace passed on - if she passed on - where would she go? Was there really a heaven? A purgatory? A hell? Was reincarnation true? Something else entirely? Or was there nothing? And which of these options was worse? It was questions like these Kendra had found herself wondering about ever since Grace had come into her life, and questions she had been doing her best not to bring up with the girl in question. They wondered if these things had occurred to Grace.

"Hm?" Kendra had been so caught up in their own thoughts, they'd almost missed Grace's question. "Oh this! The Trader dropped it when they took my cards. I'm hoping a certain spellcaster I know might be able to use her powers on it to help me track the Trader down." She grimaced. "Hopefully we can reach them before Abberline finds them. Otherwise, I might end up having yet another spectral roommate."

Can fae even come back as ghosts? Kendra had to stop herself from adding, before shaking her head as if physically trying to shake those thoughts from her mind. Nope. No more of that. Find the tarot cards first, have existential dread later.
Through analyzing the information that the others had presented to him, Skobeloff had realised that the creature that had attacked Fogdance was likely the source of the Darkness that had corrupted this island, likely some sort of monster or perhaps another sapient being turned to their Shadow Self. It had likely corrupted other creatures as well, given how quiet the forest had been. It certainly was intelligent to some degree, giving its strategy of not going after groups and sensing the vulnerability in its victims. It also hadn't gone for the stronghold, despite likely knowing where it was, and had instead lured its prey out into the woods. It had likely done this to Vipereyes, Alto, Maug, Kyte and the pixies in the nearby village, and assuming they were all still alive, taken them somewhere deeper into the woods. Skobeloff's comrades were likely much closer to this being's den, and likely in much more immediate danger than the lot at the Stronghold. Obviously, they had the numbers on their side, but if they ended up stumbling too close to the being's base of operations, the creature might attack out of desperation.

If Skobeloff were to use the magic sand he had gotten from the beach, he could teleport to his friends and tell them of what he had figured out. They could also share any information they had gathered, which would help them formulate a plan of attack. However, that did leave the question of what to do with Tamba and the others: if he left them here, and told them not to leave the stronghold under any circumstances until he returned, they'd likely be much safer than coming with. Then again, Skobeloff had no way of knowing whether they would stay put, and there was definitely safety in numbers.

What will Skobeloff do?

Kyte shook their head slightly, still not meeting the eyes of the other drakes. "Doesn't matter," they muttered. "That's finished, anyway, and it's got nothing to do with any of this."

Almost as soon as Kyte had finished speaking, the water the group had just emerged from started to bubble and froth as Echo's form began to materialize. While there was still obvious tiredness in her eyes, her body was much more stable here than it had been outside the cave. "Much better," she says. If she had overheard the group's conversation, she showed no signs of it, and merely gave the group a small smile before her eyes finally settled on Kyte, at which point she frowned. "Shouldn't you be resting? That wing is still healing."

"Yeah, sorry," Kyte muttered. Any excitement or relief they had had about seeing other dragons had evaporated, and they simply went back to lying down where they had been before.

Echo glanced back to the rest of the group. "Make yourselves comfortable," she says, motioning to the ground. "I know it's not probably like the strongholds you're all used to, but I assure, it can be quite homey once you get used to it." She sits herself down near Kyte, and motions for the group to do the same. "I'm sure you all have many questions."
