If I wanted to have Jub search for Aurora's thieves tools (assuming they're somewhere nearby) would I have to roll Investigation or Perception?

He'd be hesitant, but sure. Better than trying to climb himself.
Jub's reaction is exactly the reaction I had when I realised we were still dangling over the water. I somehow don't see Jub as adept at climbing as Brutrumukk.

I mean, you've seen my drawings of him: look at those weedy little arms!

Hearing Brutrumukk's voice and seeing him succeed in breaking out of his cage must have comforted Jub because his mind went from picturing various ways he was going to die to trying to figure out he himself could escape. Obviously, he couldn't brute-force it the way the bugbear had, but with a little magic, he might be able to deal with those bars. "Okay okay okay, I think I got an idea," he said, more to himself than to anyone in particular, and produced his wand. Using Fire Bolt more like a blow torch rather than throwing it as someone, he was able to open the door to his and Vansel's cage.

Success! Except...

Jub looked down from the open cage door to the murky water below. "Huh," he said. He turned his gaze up towards the chains he had seen Brutrumukk climb up moments ago, then turned them back to the water. "I... did not think this far ahead." He turned back to Vansel with a strained smile. "Erm, any ideas, old chum?"
Ooooohhh! That's an interesting idea! XD
Hmmm....

I'll say instead of doing an attack roll for Fire Bolt, I'm going to say Jub will need to make an Arcana Check and a Sleight of Hand Check. Depending on how well Jub knows his magic and how to use it, he might be able to pull that off!


Arcana Check = 17
Sleight of Hand Check = 25 (nat 20, calm the heck down Jub!)

I have a potentially stupid idea (and I might have Jub do it in character even if you say it won't work just because it seems like the kind of crazy thing he might try): could I potentially melt the bars of the cage using Fire Bolt?
Do obligations have time limits?


Not really. At the end of each session (chapter in this case), you check to see if you've fulfilled your obligation and if you have, you erase 1 Shadow. I might homebrew some extra rules about that to make it more interesting.

However, certain moves if you miss say 'you have incurred a obligation', implying you might have to finish the obligation in order to benefit from that move.
Alright then. For my second option, I'll go with... What could I learn from you?
