Why would Jub be blaming himself?

Survivor's guilt, basically. Both he and Brut went out on that boat and got attacked by the merrows, but only Jub made it out. Brut was (in Jub's mind) this really powerful unstoppable force, and Jub is this squishy wizard. In his mind, he's gonna be like "I really shouldn't have been the one who made it out of that situation"

... this is assuming, of course, Jub does make it out of this. We still don't know, obviously xD
I'm sure everyone outside of the water already saw that Gabe's blunder cost the life of a party member.

If it's any consolation, Jub's going to be too busy blaming himself to be upset with Gabe
Btw, sorry I'm not really posting much here. I don't really have much for Flicker to do or say right now, they're just kinda... quiet, and stuck in their own head.

Looking forward to when the rest of the group re-meets up with Plasm though. That'll be interesting.
Everybody ready your eulogies for Brutrumukk's funeral, it's going to be a confused mess. Jub's going to be in shock, Aurora and Gabe are going to be struggling how exactly to summarize this madlad they've known for like three days, Zavakri's probably going to give a speech about the probability of death or something, and Tsak's going to be just standing there like "I literally lost track of you idiots for a couple of days and when I find you again, one of you just fucking dies"
Me, reading Rush's most recent post: Okay, how the hell did we get from "Brutrumukk is having crazy mushroom hallucinations and driving the group insane with nonsense" to "Brutrumukk is pulling a heroic sacrifice and using his possible last moments to save his friend"? I didn't ask for these emotions, but they seem to be here now, and I am not okay.
Short post. Thought I'd drop the answer to Skobeloff's roll while we wait for responses. Make of this information what you will xP
During his observation of Fogdance, Skobeloff notices that the coloration of her eyes and scales aren't the only physical changes caused by the ritual. It's subtle, but there are a few more wrinkles along her face and the back of her claws. It appears that, in order to replenish the forest, the Spirit Moon took some of Fogdance's life force, causing the dragon to age slightly. She's still not an Elder Dragon, but it's highly likely her final Rite of Aging will now come sooner than it was meant to. Fogdance, for her part, either hasn't noticed these changes or is untroubled by the implication that her lifespan may have been shortened.
Plasm's going to rise from their sick bed all like...
Jub the Peculiar

Jub had been about to open his mouth in an attempt to try and persuade Brutrumukk that maybe they shouldn't go back to the cottage right now when the bugbear was attacked and dragged into the water... bringing Jub down with him. The goblin quickly found himself flailing about in the water in an attempt to stay afloat as his mind was cycling through what in the hells he was going to do.

During this time, Gabe used some sort of spell in attempt to incapacitate the merrows that were attacking them. However, instead of working on their intended targets, it instead put the submerged Brutrumukk to sleep instead, as Jub could now see air bubbles coming out from beneath the water. Panicked, he let out a few curses in the goblin language before taking a deep breath and diving under the water to get to Brutrumukk. Upon reaching him, he attempted to shake the bugbear awake.
Tsak: Can we get an owlbear?
Jub: We have owlbears at home
Owlbears at home: Bob in an owlbear costume
