Background: WriterPersonality: Already considered something of an eccentric in life, Arthek's resurrection has left him incredibly scatterbrained. The few memories he has left are interspersed with events from stories he's either read or written, he has a habit of calling people by the names of the characters he's based on them or characters they remind him of, and he views the whole world through a somewhat detached lens of an observer rather than a participant, with a tendency to get excited by dramatic twists or traumatic events as fodder for 'plot development' and 'character growth' rather than the painful experiences they truly are... and that's him on his best days. On his worse days, he can be downright cantankerous. While losing a lot of his memories didn't bother him too much, a lot of the details of his in-progress stories have become very fuzzy. This has left him frustrated and eager to find new sources of inspiration, usually at the expense of all else.
Backstory: Much of Arthek's early life is lost to him. In fact, he's fairly certain that Arthek Yarnspin isn't even his real name, but a pen name he used to hide his identity. What he does know is that he had a fascination with stories from a young age, how events from reality could be taken and twisted into something new and that in turn could inform and influence reality. It was this fascination that lead him want to tell his own tales, first through word of mouth and later in the form of novels. Of course, given the ban on entertainment this made his desire a little more difficult, hence why he had to take up a fake name and release his books through very discreet channels. However, he was able to make it work.
At least, until he was found out. He's not entirely sure how it happened, but he, his publisher and editor were all located and sentenced for their crimes. He doesn't remember what happened to them, but his repeat offenses - and refusal to change his ways - lead him to eventually being hanged. That should have been the end of it, but instead, fate had different plans in store: Arthek's spirit woke up in a strange place where the god of stories was waiting for him. The two ended up having a long conversation - the contents of which Arthek is also a little hazy on - but the general gist of it was that Arthek was getting a second chance at life, with the promise that he would keep telling stories. Arthek had no problem with this, of course, and agreed immediately, at which point he felt an odd sensation of some sort of power being passed from the god to himself. Then he blacked out, and when he woke up once more, he found himself in some hidden temple, surrounded by cloaked figures. Turns out, a bunch of his fans had managed to obtained his body and had performed a ritual to bring him back from the dead.
Now with a second chance of life, Arthek is ready to keep writing his tales. Sure, it hasn't been easy. Some of his in-progress tales are a bit fuzzy and he's suffered from frequent writer's block ever since, but he's sure that just the right kind of experiences and muses will help with that. During this time, he at some point caught wind of the Giggle Gang, entertainers like him who were doing their best to spread joy despite the restrictions, and has decided to base his next book on them. Now, all he needs is his own costume...
