I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

For some reason the idea of me being mistaken for a hero amused me. I'm pretty out-there in the opposite direction I think. Definitely no white knight. I honestly just thought it might be fun to practice some dicing ^^

Nah, it was more a musical-nod to some really good advice.

Too bad we aren't listening.
Sarafene said Serena stood up and looked outside after Alysia’s comment before looking back in.
“She’s right, if we want to survive we need to get moving, hey, Wayne was it? Hey can some of us get into your car? And we need some cars, we need to get out of here…. What’s the consensus on where we should go?”

She asked before looking back outside. They were moving slowly.

“I’m going to jury-rig a car here, get us out of here,” She stated before heading out with her backpack, glad she had the tools to do so. The girl broke into an older looking car, no alarms going off before she rigged it to work. The girl stepped back inside.“Got a car running, it’s a van, I can fit a total of 8 people in it.”

Wayne nodded and hastily glanced again at the map, looking along their road for anything really that was important enough to have doors, but wasn't near enough to anyone to be instantly swarmed by everyone and their dog with half a mind to seek shelter.

"A bit up Highway 9 there's a secluded luxury mountain-resort in Pike's Peek National Forest" He said, pointing at the spot on the map. "A fair bit south of the ghost-town tourist-trap of Alma, we can try sending people there to see how the world is doing without much fear of being swarmed. With luck they stocked the place early for the winter-season."

He wasn't sure if anyone would follow him as he saw the katana-wielder hop into the cargo-bed of his pickup. Don't be a hero, kid, you'll last longer. He thought to himself as he shook his head, but he wasn't going to complain. The guys may actually know what they're doing.
Right, the ski-lodge is a bit of plot-railroading to pick-up Annabeth, we don't have to stay there, but I figure cars are a mode, the lodges are a location we could easily get to while the stiffs cannot; making it a good rally-point.

Anyways, Rocky-Top Motel and Campground, Highway 24, 2 miles west of Colorado Springs.
-Literally a 1 minute drive to safety. A bit too close to the regional hospital and Santa's Workshop, though.

The resorts are pretty self-sustaining since it's off-grid in a Nat'l park.
Disclaimer: Trying to actually break-into such a resort would likely get the US-Forestry-service, and several private security agencies to bust your ass.

Some of them are built like literal castles, up on steep clifftops even.

Also, it would be fitting to get swarmed in South Park, AKA: Fairplay, Colorado.
-But for te sake of realism, first stop will be just Rocky Mountain Lodge and cabin. Not quite as upscale (less novelty luxury-'facilities'), but still nice, remote, and well defended (the owners live there, I'm just glad they're super-kind people).
-The street-view is what sold the idea.
Wayne shrugged and summed up an explanation in response to Denny's expression: "I guess so. The government's priority will to re-assert control over the situation as soon as possible. Sounds great on paper. But then you realize that being independent or self-sufficient means you aren't necessarily under government control. Ergo, you become a threat to the US Government because you're just about the only thing left afloat... rats will cling to you."

He sighed, "Best chance is we lay low until the time comes for the government to get its act together, then hope they'll let us surrender peacefully on the condition we can maintain some degree of autonomy. Of course, every local government bureaucrat will want a piece of that pie too, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they won't last more than a week. Gathered supplies won't mean anything if we don't have anywhere safe to use them, and there's quite a few large parks out in the mountains to the west. Many of them have some pretty lavish seasonal ski-resorts. Worst case is this all blows over in 36 hours and we get busted for trespassing, so we may as well do it with some style and dignity."
Just to double check, we've got two trucks and a blue Ford Focus, right?
Sifter said The place was ransacked by the previous visitors.

The only thing worth taking Yuri found was a highly detailed map of the El Paso County.

After checking it, he spoke out:
"Maybe we should head for Fort Carson?"

"It could be worth a look, although I'm sure the place is on high-alert and already swamped with similar-minded people since it's snug up against Colorado-Springs, population of half a million people... Plus in the event of national emergency, troops would be allowed to 'redistribute' supplies as they see fit, which could leave us on the shorter end of the stick than we're already on. Mind if I take a look at that map?"

As he perused over it, he managed to see Serena walk over to a little girl, and overheard bits of the conversation.
Sarafene said
“My name is Serena, what’s yours,” Serena asked.

“Name’s Alysia, pleasure to meet you… Seems like everyone is busy talking about supplies, but you’re just sitting here… Shouldn’t we be moving soon though? Those stiff-jaws aren’t going to hold forever, they’ll be here soon enough in due time,” Alysia stated.

“Oh I know… I don’t plan on staying here, though I want to break into a car, seems like people abandoned their cars here…” Serena said.

"You may not need to steal a car, if you ask nicely I'm sure someone can give you a ride if only we had a..."

"Hey..." she observed the rather... 'cosmopolitan' group, more curiosity than fear, now, "Did you guys... like... run out of gas or something?"

"No" replied Wayne, who was just getting slightly exasperated by so many interruptions, "I seem to have hit a roadblock and don't have a destination picked-out anymore. Seems I've already talked myself out of looking for a government hand-out and Yuri here talked me out of going into town to look for survivors."

Actually I have a bit (several years) of sword training. While this does apply to straight blades and blades with larger tips than hilts (such as a scimitar), a katana or dai wazikashi is designed with an evenly curved and completely even blade. What this does is it makes it so that you can draw the blade with more speed and momentum in your wrist. While it is better for a speed draw to go from the hip, if you need alot of force its good to use the strength your shoulders and back provide by drawing from the non-dominant shoulder. This is why the scabbard for a katana is so loose fitting on the lanyard, and why there are accompanying wazikashi and tanto (which is technically just a name for a short wazikashi) so that if I need some steel in front of me discreetly or quickly its there when I need it, and when I need a strong first attack regardless of speed of the draw, I have that too. Admittably most would rather have the wazikashi on their back over the katana, but I prefer to have the katana on my back since most people don't know jack about using a sword, and if I come across someone who does, I have the wazikashi and can hold my own with it until the Dai-katana is drawable.

Thank you for commenting on that! It's nice to know someone has an appreciation for good sword strategy! ^^

It's actually a knife, honest.

Also, quoting will cut-out link-text, try copy-pasting raw post-content into the quotebox (over the garble) if it seems to lose context.

oh hey! for future reference, I am carrying three swords.... A tanto, a wazikashi, and a katana. They're part of a set. The katana is strapped diagonally across my back and the two accompanying blades are on my hip. Also i get a seriously bad chill reading the anderson CS. Dunno why, but I do @n@

For future reference, carrying any blade longer than arm's length on your back relegates them to storage-only until the sheath is completely de-mounted from the back.

This applies to all back-mounted 2-handed swords (and gun in scabbards mounted on your back). Good place to stow them on the march or run since it keeps it from getting entangled with your legs and gives your arms a rest (which is pretty important since your arm-stamina equals bullets in an ye-olde-days swordfight). Terrible place to have it when you desperately need to get something sharp in front of you (hence the prevalence of daggers or 'sidearms', so kudus for having two, since I'm more of a fan of swords of the unwashed masses of Europe).

Meanwhile, de-shouldering a pike... doesn't take very long at all, does it?

After that i wake up. but now i have started to talk with the bloody voice every day since it followed me out of my dream. Any help to get rid of it for now or any one else have any idea of what this could even mean?

It means you think the entire human-race sucks and deserves to get glassed by something better.

And you've watched too many Disney movies.

I suggest you name the voice Wall-E and see how long it bothers you.

I put it in the free section mainly because I understand not everyone's posts will be lengthy and cordial like yours ^.~ though it seems like most people are posting lengthy posts, I know some people can only posts small amounts. There are 2 characters or a few characters that haven't made it to the rest stop yet. If we can get them to move along to the rest stop... (if they would stop ignoring the DM's posts (cough hack cough) ) Then we can move this along. Right now we're at a check stop, I want to get everyone together like last time. Maybe introduce a new 'Sam the Cop'.

On an unrelated note, anybody care to drop-out?
