Current 10+ years of an RP idea, finally finished, on 10.10.2025. Goodnight Raven Squad, you were the best, wildest, most silly near future SOF RP that lived on the guild, and you got a worthy send off :)

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 15 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots. I've been more a GM lately than a player, and don't really lean into fandom- instead, exploring my own universes lifting themes from other source material.

My main interests are military-themed, near-future RPs, with a focus on technology. But I'm beginning to push what that RP idea looks like- taking inspiration from lots of media and focussing on the fun, indulgent side of RP, whilst also exploring the lows and emotional side.

Raven Squad is a project over seven years in the making, and focusses on a class-based, eccentric yet half-grounded near future special forces team that acts as a response team where you can't send any special forces team in. It's incredibly dumb, incredibly loose, and yet, has delivered some of my favourite plot points in RPG. A brainless action flick a la John Wick and Kingsman meets a complex thriller with a fun left turn in it, Raven has been the culmination of over a decade of loving special forces RPG, gaming influences and other silliness in a package that has provided players with something quite different to a normal military themed RPG. While at an end, this is an RP that is a signature- it's silly as hell, takes itself barely seriously, and is what peak fun military RPG to me should be.

Delta Hyper is a love letter to Wipeout, F1's Drive to Survive (Netflix) and contemporary Formula One, with influences from solarpunk, cyberpunk, transhumanism and other posthumanist concepts. An RP that follows pilots in their ups and downs, it's a story that hasn't got me playing an actual character, but framing the camera at each pilot (played by others), and presenting it as if it were a documentary. Lifting elements from TTRPG, this is a Racing RPG like no other and no parallel exists- using dice rolls and randomisation, with a stats-driven system to generate race results, rather than actually RPing the races, players experience the fast-paced, dynamic world of anti-gravity racing. This means that come Qualifying and Race, the results are genuinely a surprise to everyone- and based on decisions made through dilemmas and decisions made between races. Friendships, rivalry, the glamour and even a little political undertone play out in 2094, in a colourful, utopian future that focuses on the fight to take first place.

Then there's Tactical Breach Wizards: Fireteam Hex. First use of any set IP as a formal setting, this is an RP that offers a darker mirror to Raven Squad, focussing on the other side of the equation- unlikely heroes in an uncomfortable position. I don't normally do fantasy, but the world, the lore, the feeling of the characters and the ability to write a comedy just was too difficult to pass up. An RP that focuses on a group running away from a variety of threats as wanted mercenary wizards in the middle of a post-revolution, Eastern-Europe adjacent 1990s to present Polavia.

Lastly, Dispatch: Heroes of Claremont. This is another IP-adjacent world, albeit drawing on a different setting and a new cast of superheroes. As my "first" proper superhero RP, this combines workplace comedy, a Storyteller-lite system and a fun, diverse, and large cast together in a dynamic, diverse setting.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy. I aim to clear posts within a week!

"Hmm....must be something more to it than that, surely. It must be like our Heavy Water, the things we have in Norway currently, at Rijukan I hear there's a whole station, even I don't have that high a clearance, but they are making quantum leaps in the production of it that we have taken over from the Norwegians." Felix said, sitting up a little, as he drunk on with his beer.
"And that sounds like a...well, flirt if I ever heard one. If you go for it Rudolph, I would say that whilst she's a wild card, you would have a good chance." Hans said, looking over, chuckling a little, as the night carried on, the bar a little lively and active. That was, until a car came in, marked with Wehrmacht markings, and a single officer came in.

Felix recognised the man- he was from Peenmunde, and he looked over, aware that this was about something else than a drink.
"Sturmbannführer, with me- I have a request from Doctor to bring you back to the base, as you are to be immediately redeployed. Sir." The officer said, saluting to Felix, as he stood up, looking to the rest of his men, as he looked over.
"Redeployment? Ah, excellent. Come on lads, let's go." Felix said, as he looked to the others, walking out of the bar and into the cold wintery day outside, the snow not yet fallen yet the autumn subsiding slowly to colder and colder weather. Clambering into the back of the Kubelwagen, the car pulled away once the team was aboard, leaving for the Research Base.

A few minutes later, and they were in. It was still the same place, after all, it hadn't changed much lately. Walking into the main facility centre, Felix recognized Dr Ludwig, already aware that this was the chief of the engineering team that made it possible to get all this equipment operational and running. The evening was beginning to pass, and it was getting darker, and colder.
"Ludwig, good to see you- apparently we've been called out to deal with a special threat, something to do with Iceland. I assume you heard this too?" Felix said, as he gave a gesture for them to follow him to the armory, where their suits were.
"Yes, indeed Your armor has been winterized and adapted for colder climates. The temprature in Iceland is dropping, due to a cold front- and it's expected to plunge to -30, so you need armor and equipment that will deal with it. Tyrant's is already suitable due to it's sealed nature and existing climate control, but for the rest of you, you might find your armor is more snug than usual to cater for it." The engineer said, as they headed in.
"Now, Felix, I understand that your armor was more than adequate, though you did have issues. I have fitted a much more robust self-standing feature, so that if the armor fell over on you, you would be able to pick yourself up, due to the enhanced design. I have also designed a far more direct-impact option for your 40mm launcher- firing 128 tungsten fragments as a high velocity, high spread weapon. Practically turns the MPX into a automatic shotgun with a range of around...well, 200m. It may come in more handy for closer quarters." He said, looking over to the armor, as he noted the camoflage on it.
"HEDP, Incendiary and Armor Piercing rounds are all in this canister, and it's as good as ever- the suit shouldn't be different. I hear you insisted on the black to remain, despite the fact that it's a winter operation.."
"Trust me Ludwig, it is fine. Looks fine to me- thanks Doctor." Felix said, taking his officer's cap off, as he sat down by it, having a look at the suit. It had been repaired and brought back to it's good old combat standard, with the armor solid as ever.
"Over here, Hans. Your flamethrowers are the same, and there's a heating system installed on the base of your suit. I've also mounted a more robust set of mechanical gear, so that you can move a little faster. The armor's been repaired since last time, and likewise, not much has been done either. Now, Rudolph, Jakub, if you'd like to follow me, I'll show you yours- Hans, Felix, I hear that you are to be deployed shortly, you are to be briefed fully on the way to Torshavn, where the Kriegsmarine will be responsible for your deployment on Northern Iceland as a part of Operation Zeitgeist's succession from those islands. I hear the Allied Forces have set up a geothermal plant close to the coastline, situated on a dam that holds a huge volume of water in it. Safe to say, the city of Akureyri would be demolished in several key areas, and the geothermal plant is the only reason they still have lights in the air when our Arados and Heinkels fly over to bomb their facilities and structures- so destruction of the dam as well as the shutdown and potential research on how they are getting this geothermal power would be essential. It seems they need your touch on this one." Ludwig said, as bit by bit, Hans suited up, and Felix lept into his armor, already aware that whilst it wasn't in his office, it had been repaired and maintained. He had ditched his jacket, and just had a shirt and his trousers now, as he sat inside, the suit secured and sealed off, as he took his oxygen mask inside, and linked up the HUD. Tyrant's feet juddered forwards, as he checked the MPX in his gauntleted mechanized hands, and cocked the weapon, chambering a large 40mm sized tungsten penetrating round, that would like Ludwig said, splinter into tens of pieces and spray anyone close by with devastating effect.
"Well then. Winter is coming, but I assume we are ready."
I think it's cool, the next post will be joint, not this exact one since it's all up.
Sadly, I did have an exam that had to be done- so the next post will probably be a collab, since I've only got an exam tomorrow then a pretty big break.
Dmitri looked to Willhelm, knowing full well this was Prince Wilhelm Hohenzollern of Germany, the best client he had gone through in a long while. Since his arrival in Europe, he had served a French diplomat, and then the Austro-Hungarian Minister of Finance. He had found work quite easily, surprisingly- he was an outsider, and what he did, he did well at- with this perhaps his biggest job yet, but one that he knew that perhaps Wilhelm respected of Dmitri, knowing that they were both militaristic in some ways. Dmitri did that- he protected people. And as much as he knew that the politics between Russia and Germany had fallen apart in the last few years, things had changed. France wanted to be friendly with Russia, and likewise, Germany found itself isolated and turning away from the Russians. Chancellors had changed, from Bismarck to Caprivi. And Friedrich, despite some illnesses, was doing well. He had his own guards, but Dmitri was Wilhelm's, and knew that at any time, things could change. Men would want him dead, and as much as Dmitri knew that as a lookout for the Okhrana back home, killing the very man he protected would be something he would not want, even if war arose. He was simply just a listener, just a man who maybe once or twice, sent a telegram of what he heard from this member of the German Royal Family.

For now, the theater was filling up. In the carriage, Dmitri looked over to Wilhelm, checking the sword by his side, the Naval Cutlass he so dearly loved, and his Nagant in a hidden holster by his ribs. His black duffel, and bald head, combined with his beard, was something that perhaps seemed to be too Russian in it's look, but was what any respectable Russian would look like. He was a personification of hardship, work and testosterone. Probably.
"No, not tonight, Wilhelm. There should be no trouble, but I will keep my eyes wide open for anything. It is busy tonight." Dmitri said, looking out the side of the carriage, aware that he was on friendly terms with the Prince, and as a Bodyguard, was probably chosen for looks, as well as maybe personality, rather than the full ability to defend.
"I would expect that the opera tonight shall be excellent. I prefer Mussorgsky myself, but we are yet to have the standard of theaters like you have here in Berlin." Dmitri simply said, as he sat up, adjusting his coat a little as he looked over to the young reagent, aware that he was still a significant figure, despite the fact he would not likely be the Kaiser for years to come, and was a minor reagent in the scheme of things.
Imran looked over at Yumiko and Bjorn, who had disembarked form theirs, himself proving LMG fire downrange as he shifted over a metal barrier, the Sikh soldier moving with a pace as he kept up fire. Svetlana tanked her way though, already moving as she kept up GMG fire, destroying a pair of SUVs that slid into the area, sending them up as she then watched Bjorn gun down a set of enemies, mulilating htem into pieces. Then he snapped. Svetlana had seen it before- he had lost his head, he felt not powerful enough. She felt scared herself even, as she watched it unfold. She saw him move forwards, moving far quicker as the giant Nordic Axe in his hand looked more like a club than a sharpened waraxe, due to it's size. But to Bjorn, it had to be just a normal cutting device.
"Bjorn, I got your back! Don't expose your rucksack on your rear, or else you'll go boom if they start chucking heavy fire at it!" Svetlana said, as she sprayed GMG fire, looking to Imran and Yumiko.
"Move in, you two- I will deal with the situation out here! There're flooding now!" Svetlana said, feeling the sweat kick up on her body despite the full pelt of the cooling system, the midst of the rainforest a hot and unbearing place none the less. She looked over to a man that charged out of cover, armed with an RPG, and fired it, Svetlana diving onto her back as it barely flew past, and she smirked, watching as it flew over and she propped herself back up. She let the GMG loose by her side, as she pulled out her oversized Machete, similar to his axe, but perhaps...sharper bladed. She simply didn't come close with it, she flung the whole thing at him, and jumping out of the way, even with the relatively light gear compared to Svetlana. Because even though she had that level of equipment and had that sheer size, she was no slouch to things such as that. The machete practically bowled through half of the man's face, as she smirked under her helmet, moving quickly to retrieve the machete, whilst under fire. It had some material on it, but it would be cleanable, she reminded herself, as she raised the GMG, and kept up some more fire, taking out a machine gun tower and a pair of technicals, spraying 40mm round like it was rain.

To Imran however, this was scary as hell. Watching Svetlana take sniper shots from one of the roofs of the main facility was a little scary, but he knew she had this under control, the matt black armor doing fine- and Bjorn, doing his bloodlusted, mad thing, was taking just about as much fire. To them however, it was nothing- they were Heavies, and it just pinged off them, and in some way, Imran knew that was their thing.
"Yumiko, cover our rear from anything- Bjorn, Svetlana, keep handling any contacts out here. I'll head in and check if the shit's secure." Imran said, already pulling out his M32 as covering fire for the Japanese member of the squad, running fast as he moved from cover to cover, his exoskeleton giving him that extra speed and momentum to practically slide himself into the building. He watched as the noise of the

The corridor had a few contacts, and though an M32 was a bit bulky for the indoors, he had this under control. He sprayed the rounds downrange, the six rounds detonating at the end of the corridor and taking a small squad out, as they were blown apart by the rounds, Imran sliding the M32 onto his back again as he moved through with the Mk48, moving slowly and aiming down the iron sights whenever he could, to scan his sectors and the concrete corridor. He popped one with a single round that ran around the corner, as he was thrown back.
"Okay Antoine, I think your mines can be good to be blown up now- before somebody jumps into anything that they have. I'll take care of the rest of this area above ground- go down and see what else there is in terms of how far they breached it. I'll handle this floor." Imran said, as he moved slowly upwards, scanning his sectors.

Two men ran into the vehicle pool, cursing when they saw the bodies. They were the armored suit operators- and the exoskeleton whirred, as they jumped into the two large armors, roughly 8 foot tall in size, with a set of dead technicians. They checked each others weapons, before rushing out, the loud mechanical clanking on the concrete floor engaging as they moved out, aware they had to defend their perimiter. And yet they had little idea that they were sitting on what equated to basically, an armored pair of suits that were rigged up with explosives in key places. As they headed out, their GAU-19 miniguns in both hands as well as rocket tubes on back, they felt confident they could take on the team of enemies. They had little idea, as they headed out into the open compound, that their moments of power, the two giant mechanized armor suits were toast.
Oh yeah, Swedish Airship Captain, with a motherfucking mechanical arm. I mean, historically, characters don't matter, it's just I had an astute observation of Wilhelm II Hohenzollern, or as I remember, the guy who made his Minister of Defence dance around in a tutu on a desk in front of him who then had a heart attack.
Though Dmitri is Russian and frankly, a well sized individual with a Fedrov Avomat to bear at times, I think Gustav's mechanical arm with that and perhaps flair would make an interesting swordfight/gunfight/fistfight.
Sorry my sarcasm didn't really translate well into that prior post...and oh yeah, it will happen. Keeping in mind that Dmitri is from Karelia, that region of Russia. he will have a particular sort of disliking to some of the Scandinavian union- considering the Norwegian border from Severomorsk is close.
Probably. But i think Dmitri and Gustav, as Russians and Swedes respectively, will get on swimmingly indeed. I think this will be brilliant to watch out.

I have a few details to iron out, but Dmitri's character might prop up to be more than just merely a bodyguard to a few people eventually, as the RP develops.
I believe Nobody will post up as soon as he's cleared with RL- I think it's us four still hanging on in there.
