Current 10+ years of an RP idea, finally finished, on 10.10.2025. Goodnight Raven Squad, you were the best, wildest, most silly near future SOF RP that lived on the guild, and you got a worthy send off :)

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 15 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots. I've been more a GM lately than a player, and don't really lean into fandom- instead, exploring my own universes lifting themes from other source material.

My main interests are military-themed, near-future RPs, with a focus on technology. But I'm beginning to push what that RP idea looks like- taking inspiration from lots of media and focussing on the fun, indulgent side of RP, whilst also exploring the lows and emotional side.

Raven Squad is a project over seven years in the making, and focusses on a class-based, eccentric yet half-grounded near future special forces team that acts as a response team where you can't send any special forces team in. It's incredibly dumb, incredibly loose, and yet, has delivered some of my favourite plot points in RPG. A brainless action flick a la John Wick and Kingsman meets a complex thriller with a fun left turn in it, Raven has been the culmination of over a decade of loving special forces RPG, gaming influences and other silliness in a package that has provided players with something quite different to a normal military themed RPG. While at an end, this is an RP that is a signature- it's silly as hell, takes itself barely seriously, and is what peak fun military RPG to me should be.

Delta Hyper is a love letter to Wipeout, F1's Drive to Survive (Netflix) and contemporary Formula One, with influences from solarpunk, cyberpunk, transhumanism and other posthumanist concepts. An RP that follows pilots in their ups and downs, it's a story that hasn't got me playing an actual character, but framing the camera at each pilot (played by others), and presenting it as if it were a documentary. Lifting elements from TTRPG, this is a Racing RPG like no other and no parallel exists- using dice rolls and randomisation, with a stats-driven system to generate race results, rather than actually RPing the races, players experience the fast-paced, dynamic world of anti-gravity racing. This means that come Qualifying and Race, the results are genuinely a surprise to everyone- and based on decisions made through dilemmas and decisions made between races. Friendships, rivalry, the glamour and even a little political undertone play out in 2094, in a colourful, utopian future that focuses on the fight to take first place.

Then there's Tactical Breach Wizards: Fireteam Hex. First use of any set IP as a formal setting, this is an RP that offers a darker mirror to Raven Squad, focussing on the other side of the equation- unlikely heroes in an uncomfortable position. I don't normally do fantasy, but the world, the lore, the feeling of the characters and the ability to write a comedy just was too difficult to pass up. An RP that focuses on a group running away from a variety of threats as wanted mercenary wizards in the middle of a post-revolution, Eastern-Europe adjacent 1990s to present Polavia.

Lastly, Dispatch: Heroes of Claremont. This is another IP-adjacent world, albeit drawing on a different setting and a new cast of superheroes. As my "first" proper superhero RP, this combines workplace comedy, a Storyteller-lite system and a fun, diverse, and large cast together in a dynamic, diverse setting.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy. I aim to clear posts within a week!

If all the Tyrells had but one neck...

They've been very lucky so far. It'll only take a second to change that, no doubt they'll find themselves in the thick of it.

I've put up a vague list of ages and so on, it is mainly how to explain how Alestair, Garland's cousin, is older than him whilst being born of a thirdborn (in this scenario, it seems that a good bunch of the Tyrell bunch had their kids late).
Haha...it's a case of succession is very awry. I haven't gotten it to work right, but I've cleared it up mentally for what I want to put across.
Awesome, thanks for that. It's going to be useful to help me explain the lineage I think, at least to myself :D
Eh, we can disregard post orders on this one- Drevan will probably contact Cassie once she's in, no doubt.
Damn, at the rate I'm going with these Tyrells, I'll need to draw out a family tree- anyone know of a resource I could use to at least map out the linages of the family? That is, to create what I've made, not the current one (I have researched this, hence why Garland is Lord, rather than Lyonel in this point).
Preferably with one of those M14s....couldn't resist making the pun.

I shall think on this, but for now I think I've finished the Peake brothers.

Fair play- there is still work to be done on my end on the other two siblings of Garland, as well as another relative of Garland's, who will play a key role. I really haven't fleshed it out perfectly, but in the RP, you'll see more of his nature come out, I feel.
Could be interesting to see- it might even be a case that said Knight is in Garland's court, due to the people he surrounds himself with...who knows really. Garland has an awful lot of advisers due to his inexperience (ie. he was never cut out for this job, but he is probably quick to learn it), as he's only done this job of being a Lord for two years, so that will definitely have an influence if you end up having favor with him.
Tyrells are a WIP, Garland is possibly an important figure to whoever is controlling Dayne and Peake- I really can't project his character the best in the CS, but he's a Greatest Hits album when it comes to Tyrells (who I envision as the most fairy-tale of the Houses from the surface at least). His character is definitely one that will be interesting to see the development of, particularly his maturity.

House Tyrell

Green or Black: Green (Minor Support, officially Neutral)
Recent History:

House Tyrell is a house of upstart stewards, to some of those you might ask in The Reach. This is precisely why uprisings and minor revolts have occurred recently, from both Black and Green sides against the Tyrell lordship. Some say the Gardeners should be brought back, even if they would refuse to bend the knee to the Targaryens. Others would simply disagree- they would argue that this is a Great House founded on chivalry and honor, a House that serves as the breadbasket to the Iron Throne and it's primary military strength in times of war. The Tyrells are the House that have maintained peace and the beautiful landscape of The Reach, from it's rivers and bountiful fields, from being ravaged by the processes of war. Either interpretation leaves the conclusion simple- they are exceptionally lucky, compared to the rest of Westeros.

The Tyrells are the Wardens of the South, defending the southern frontier of the Seven Kingdoms against occasional Dornish squabbles, though their impressive military might is not often used. The sheer size of The Reach, as the second largest kingdom of the Seven, means that whilst it can be difficult to muster troops to rally in any given direction, the possibility of being able to call 80,000 bannermen is not one that is underestimated by any of the family. Garland and Alerie remain both unmarried, the end of the war perhaps marking a perfect opportunity to make new bonds, and with the latter particularly lusted for by many a Reachman of any nobility. Alestair Tyrell serves as a representative of The Reach in King's Landing, and has done so for the last five years, even in the midst of the worst of the civil war, as a port of call for the Tyrells to the Capital.

The lands of The Reach have always remained beautiful, from any observer's eyes. From the coast to the Dornish Marches and the greenery between, it is easy to understand why this region is blessed, both with more than ample food security and a chivalric background. Where the days go by, and the flowered and wheat filled fields, with the gently meandering rivers and white castles that remind the people of The Reach that it is good to have the Tyrells in power, when the rest of the Kingdom is worrying about starving to death and being invaded. No such thing will happen this Autumn, not in The Reach. The men, women and children of The Reach are lucky in that regard, the distant throes of war are gone. However, much is still unstable, and the current line of Tyrell has been shaken up by recent events.

The death of the infant Lord Lyonel Tyrell due to disease left the responsibility of running The Reach to Garland Tyrell, his cousin- and who most would agree was far more capable of rule than a mere child. The lack of siblings that Lyonel had meant that the line passed over to Garland; and meant that Garland was the new Lord Paramount of The Reach, with the chance to bring about a new order of things. Whilst Garland was perhaps not the most experienced or wisest of all rulers now in the Seven Kingdoms, he was able to find legitimacy in his own people at his young age, and able to get to work on making sure his vassals did not get any ideas of their own expansion. Inexperienced, yes, talented, indeed.

Quickly asserting his rule, the unmarried Garland found the Reach in an unstable state- the aftermath of the war left Minor Houses on Black and Green sides, and the end of the war led to uprisings and demands to "Depose the Traitor Lord"- for the Tyrells lack of support for either side throughout the war, and the lack of any allegiance to the newly crowned King. It had been for good reason, however- The Reach has not officially fought in the war, and whilst allegedly providing support in weapons to Houses Dayne and Peake, it has not been exactly affected in the rest of the conflict. While Garland has been swift to pledge his side to Aegon III, it is the hope that The Reach's neutrality will not have had a long-term impact on their influence in the Seven Kingdoms, and that he can earn his favor back, by whichever means he needs to do.
