Current 10+ years of an RP idea, finally finished, on 10.10.2025. Goodnight Raven Squad, you were the best, wildest, most silly near future SOF RP that lived on the guild, and you got a worthy send off :)

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 15 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots. I've been more a GM lately than a player, and don't really lean into fandom- instead, exploring my own universes lifting themes from other source material.

My main interests are military-themed, near-future RPs, with a focus on technology. But I'm beginning to push what that RP idea looks like- taking inspiration from lots of media and focussing on the fun, indulgent side of RP, whilst also exploring the lows and emotional side.

Raven Squad is a project over seven years in the making, and focusses on a class-based, eccentric yet half-grounded near future special forces team that acts as a response team where you can't send any special forces team in. It's incredibly dumb, incredibly loose, and yet, has delivered some of my favourite plot points in RPG. A brainless action flick a la John Wick and Kingsman meets a complex thriller with a fun left turn in it, Raven has been the culmination of over a decade of loving special forces RPG, gaming influences and other silliness in a package that has provided players with something quite different to a normal military themed RPG. While at an end, this is an RP that is a signature- it's silly as hell, takes itself barely seriously, and is what peak fun military RPG to me should be.

Delta Hyper is a love letter to Wipeout, F1's Drive to Survive (Netflix) and contemporary Formula One, with influences from solarpunk, cyberpunk, transhumanism and other posthumanist concepts. An RP that follows pilots in their ups and downs, it's a story that hasn't got me playing an actual character, but framing the camera at each pilot (played by others), and presenting it as if it were a documentary. Lifting elements from TTRPG, this is a Racing RPG like no other and no parallel exists- using dice rolls and randomisation, with a stats-driven system to generate race results, rather than actually RPing the races, players experience the fast-paced, dynamic world of anti-gravity racing. This means that come Qualifying and Race, the results are genuinely a surprise to everyone- and based on decisions made through dilemmas and decisions made between races. Friendships, rivalry, the glamour and even a little political undertone play out in 2094, in a colourful, utopian future that focuses on the fight to take first place.

Then there's Tactical Breach Wizards: Fireteam Hex. First use of any set IP as a formal setting, this is an RP that offers a darker mirror to Raven Squad, focussing on the other side of the equation- unlikely heroes in an uncomfortable position. I don't normally do fantasy, but the world, the lore, the feeling of the characters and the ability to write a comedy just was too difficult to pass up. An RP that focuses on a group running away from a variety of threats as wanted mercenary wizards in the middle of a post-revolution, Eastern-Europe adjacent 1990s to present Polavia.

Lastly, Dispatch: Heroes of Claremont. This is another IP-adjacent world, albeit drawing on a different setting and a new cast of superheroes. As my "first" proper superhero RP, this combines workplace comedy, a Storyteller-lite system and a fun, diverse, and large cast together in a dynamic, diverse setting.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy. I aim to clear posts within a week!

Wow, an evil Stark? Interesting. Garland is that good on paper, but Alerie does subdivert that, just a tad... :P
It was a good read- both came along well.
Holy shit, we are going fast. Tomorrow evening, prepare for wine, arguments, tits, and more importantly, one hell of a set of responses.
Yeah sure- PM or put here a Titanpad/Piratepad, and I can get to work on that end of things in a couple of days time- right now, I'm going back to Bristol, hence I'm going to be quite busy.
@Major Ursa

A real one? I don't mind whoever posts, I feel like it would be healthy to see a circulation go through in posts, before it comes back to me. The North first, for certain, then myself. Now there is a Northman, Tyron could get in contact with his adjacent Lord.

Anyway, I'll post probably in a couple days, I want to work on something big. Namely, Willas will be speaking to Kevan, and it's going to be a funny little meeting that, not so much blood. The Tumbletons arriving will be that post, taking the action forward a couple of days, and basically, what happens next is anyone's guess. It really is- and from here, even Garland's next moves are going to start coming across onto paper, as he chats to Jehrilla.
I see a little of Bran in her, actually. Rickard is a character who I can't imagine ever running the Reach, I think he won't be the heir de jure, that is more likely to pass to Willas, or Alerie at this point, or even outside the branch.

I love how we have these incredible, awesome characters, then the shit one on the side, almost every time, either young or just a bit meh. So....to continue our arguement, my shit one's better then your shit one, he might be a fucking cripple but he's a clever little cripple :D
Oooh, Essosi backing would be fun right there. Throw Lys or Pentos, now that would be interesting in it's own right to his claim. I bet it would be the one he would perhaps swing him into favour. Unlikely, but still, worth a mention.
It's very difficult to tell. He's an actual Kingsguard, but he isn't their best. He's not their worst, he's middle of the field. He could have a good fight with them, it would be hard to tell, many, many factors come to play.

Worry him with their fighting, you say on Daenys...he tortures the fuck out of people! If you wished to make Daenys as sick as Ramsay Bolton, you are coming fucking close to the mark, everything about him now he's been written on just screams that he is fucking insane.

We have already chatted...well, hey, it might be a possibility, but what a way to go, right?! I don't want to spoil what me and Kingfisher have chatted about, but let's just say at the most, Garland is going to have a hangover.

And yeah, it would be a big hinderance. Remember though, it's a big Kingdom too, the Reach. 100 men will do only so much damage, and remember, the full force isn't deploying. If it were, then definitely. But almost 15,000 men would stay in reserve, and guerilla war is difficult, especially considering just how bloody far the Reach is from The North. Would the North want to risk that kind of war, for not actually that much gain? And if so, what are they going to get back from the Westermen? The Riverlands are neutral, and the possibilities have a depth in their field.
Actually, how has Daerys not ever fallen for Tywin, if the Crakehalls have had some Small Council connections? Surely he'd know he wasn't the only gay man in the village I mean Seven Kingdoms, it would be an interesting point to moot from both sides if they knew of it, even if they hated each other for who they were.

(Little Britain reference there.)
The Poleaxe is such a cool weapon, I couldn't have Willas not using it. It's a fucking pike, with an axe attached. Like a lighter Halberd, almost. As demonstrated, while he might not use a sword, when you have full plate, two handed weapons become far more ballsy. He's most definitely not the best fighter, but he can hold people, for a long time indeed, and he really doesn't have a qualm with killing people. Not a psychopath, no, but he's weathered, far, far more than Garland (who I can imagine whilst having courage, and definitely being able to fight, wouldn't last long against someone who is skilled at the Water Dance).
@Kingfisher

Oh, she doesn't have just an army, she has far, far more than that (by which I don't mean she is going to be sent as some assassin, sitting on the Lords of the Seven Kingdoms....Jesus, what is wrong with me :P ). But honestly, I am really looking forward to when Alerie gets to chat to her, I can see that it will put a new paradigm to this little stand-off, an exotic element.
