@Xeronoia It's because it seems to be really popular right now. gotta ride the hype before it dies down, right?

That aside, I'm totally in favor of RNG pairing. Or controlled RNG, if personality's an issue.
Mine may or may not be a handful to people, so if you pair up...
Well, gl ;D
Nah jk, open to pretty much anyone.
Receiver:
Name: Mari Kougami
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: What's with this atmosphere...?
She's a modest 5'6" high, if a comparison's needed.
Personality: Mostly indifferent to the world and it's machinations, Mari has time and time again gone out of her way to avoid anything that she might consider a hassle; everything from relationships to arguments to socializing is a no-go on her list. However, by that same train of thought, she's become good at reading the mood and knowing when to try and slip out. Well, among normal people, at least. Otherwise, she's relatively antisocial by most standards and doesn't interact with people unless necessary. She's not lazy, despite her demeanor might lead a person to assume; no, rather, she's a person who prioritizes the most spectacular results in the most efficient manner possible above all else. No cutting corners, no slacking off, no nothing.
Skills: Mari works well as a strategist, able to refine most details of a situation into a victory... Well, barring any unforeseen circumstances. She can also get a feel for whatever is happening around her at a given time and use that information to her advantage... Which usually means slipping away as quietly as possible. Other than being an analyst, she's also pretty good at strategy games of all sorts. Video games included.
Brief Backstory: With her father being a banker and her mother working overseas at a law firm, Mari's life has been one of both solitude and of self-reliance. Money was by no means scarce, of course, but with her habits the way they were, there was never any need to actively buy anything superficial. She craved something interesting, though; whatever would stir up creativity, problem-solving, and so on and so forth; video games were entertaining for a while, but it often felt like those never put up enough of a challenge; no, in fact, the more she spent on them, the easier they felt. Regular board games, crossword puzzles, and so on and so forth... Nothing. Being marked as a Receiver, though, was nowhere near what she had been prepared for. Now, a life spent avoiding people had to transition into a life spent perpetually around someone... Probably just to exist and enable them.
Well, maybe there would be something interesting waiting for her there instead.
Tuner: N/A

Tuner:
Name: James Zhen
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: At a decent 5'9" tall, James is... Well, pretty average in terms of appearance. His black hair, seldom done up or anything of the sort, usually makes him look like he just woke up from a nap; his tendency to look uninterested in topics only makes the stereotype even worse (even though that isn't always the case). Often times, he'll be seen wearing a grey t-shirt and jeans, and maybe a black jackets if he decides the weather to be cold enough to warrant it. His body is a tad on the leaner side, with not much muscle nor fat to speak of.
Personality: Unlike what most people would expect, James is a very outspoken person, often directly clashing with people who he doesn't quite agree with. With that in mind, though, he's perfectly fine with a debate as compared to a shouting contest, and is willing to cede points that have been proven to counter his claims. Hardworking and intelligent (a byproduct of his parents' teaching methods), James much prefers espionage and intelligence over 'honor' and 'strength' and other such outdated ideals. A modern era necessitates a modern mindset, after all.
Type: Weapon
Abilities: N/A
Weapon: Three, actually. James is able to swap between a sniper rifle, a set of dual pistols (two of these), and a desert eagle, all of which are essentially pulled from the Aether. The bullets themselves can be given different effects, such as increased penetration, homing, or paralysis, but their strength and variety is limited only by the Synch Ratio and his imagination. Bullet effects can't be stacked unless he's really in tune with his Receiver, though.
Skills: James' reaction speed is... Impressive, to say the least. While he may not have any particular physical strength, his agility and on-the-fly decisionmaking skills are what really help him avoid getting hit. As a byproduct, he's also really good at sightreading music scores. Oh, and he plays the violin. That's something.
Brief Backstory: Born and raised by a pair of Chinese immigrants to America, James had the usual set of things piled onto him: mandatory good grades, the ability to play an instrument, and so on and so forth. He made it work, though; managing to relax with his friends while getting through school was a miracle in and of itself. By some twist of fate, though, he ended up testing positive for Tuner abilities. To the jealousy of his friends, James ended up being shipped off to the Academy (thank you, government funding). The shift was strange, yes, but so long as he could deal with the whole 'raising parents' thing with this he didn't have any complaints. Standard East Asian lifestyle and all that.
Receiver: N/A
@PKMNB0Y: Both are mostly fine, but by the same token his weapons are probably just based on the mundane ones.

Gotcha. Well, adding forms now.
Alright, let's get technical!

Interested, for sure.
Last Order pouted at Youmu's comment, still trying to get a better look at the two blades. Swords, after all, weren't common in Academy City--or, at least, not ones that weren't used for sports or adjusted in some way. And oddities were oddities, so she had good reason to be curious...

Which, of course, annoyed Accelerator. Before Last Order could make another jump up after the blade that the white-haired swordswoman had taken from her reach, Accelerator pulled her back and sighed.

"You know the saying, right? 'Curiosity killed the cat' or something like that."

He didn't need to say any more; Last Order stopped trying for the weapon. Thankfully.

"Look, you got your damn sweets, and now we're in some kind of stupid mess. I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to actively put your life in danger. Got it?"

"'Misaka understands.' says Misaka as Misaka quietly pouts and crosses her arms in annoyance."

...
Well, it would do for now.

"Okay. that aside... Guess you two are just as clueless? Figured as much." he complained, rolling his shoulders. "Seems people seem to know who Last Order is, which is an... issue. Thought that fuckin' Superintendent meant to keep that project under wraps..."

Muttering to himself, Accelerator walked back over to the edge of the building's roof and glanced at the ground below. Crowds formed and dispersed, it seemed, but one remained constant in that mess. A performance...?

Eh, not his problem.

"Oh, and to Greenie over there: Why are you being so defensive if nothing big happened? There shouldn't be a reason to freak out over something if it's as small as you say it is."
The introduction from the white-haired samurai girl- Youmu, was it?- was a bit too formal for his liking, but at least he and Last Order had something to call her by other than 'misfortunate fool who faceplanted into the roof of a building.' Well, that was just him, really, but it was true enough that the little girl would find some way of twisting that into something else. The blue-haired girl... Aqua? That was... Water in Latin, right? Explained the hair, at the very least. Before Accelerator could put forth his own introduction, though, the little girl by his side immediately jumped into the conversation.

"'Hooray! Misaka is Misaka, and this is Accelerator!' says Misaka as Misaka confidently jumps off the ground and poses!"

"...Yeah, sure, whatever. Accelerator will do fine for me, but most people refer to her as Last Order. It's convenient... For reasons that I'm not allowed to disclose." he followed, a sigh escaping his lips as he turned to Aqua. "Anyways, for the sake of gathering information and discussing... Things... All I know is that we're in Akihabara, a... Well, I guess if I was to explain it to people who don't know, it's a city-within-a-city in the middle of Tokyo, Japan. Center for otaku culture or something like that. As for your other question... Assuming you asked about getting onto the building, I jumped with Last Order; Greenie here ran up and smacked face first into me. Yeah, let's go with that. Otherwise, no fuckin' clue."

Well, that about summed up what he knew. At least Last Order wasn't--

Aaand she was trying to take that Konpaku girl's swords now. What the hell.
Accelerator stared at the two women, glancing back and forth while Last Order was becoming increasingly more worried. Even after their responses, he couldn't jump to any conclusions. If dealing with the other underground organizations of the city had taught him anything, it was to never let his guard down...

Especially in situations like these.

Last Order, on the other hand, pouted and let go of Accelerator' arm. Taking a few steps back, the little girl immediately began to sprint and leaped straight onto Accelerator. The reflection, luckily enough, didn't go off (probably due to Last Order's shenanigans), and so the two immediately tumbled to the ground.

"Whoa-OI!" Accelerator shouted reflexively as he winced from the pain of the fall.

"'It's safe, see?' Misaka states as Misaka proudly stands up with her chest puffed out."

The moment of silence that followed felt excruciatingly long, but... Well, it seemed to help lighten the mood. If they were going to attack, Accelerator reasoned, then it would've been done when Last Order caught him off balance. Fine.

"...Alright, alright, I get it." he complained, stabbing his crutch into the ground to pull himself back up. "But still... They're not from around here, it seems... Well, so far as I can tell. Maybe it's related to whatever dragged us here..."
"...Dangerous?" Accelerator asked, letting out a small laugh as he looked down at the girl. "So you're telling me that trying to scare someone when they're there isn't just as bad? Or, y'know, the fact that you scaled the building to do that? Don't go telling people off when you're making just a big of a mess as they are. Got it?"

Sighing, Accelerator shook his head before trying to process the incident that had just occured. As far as he knew, Academy City was the only place with access to this sort of technology, barring any sort of illegal smuggling. Even if that fringe case was the reason she was able to come here, it still wasn't enough to propel her up the many stories of the building in one go without putting considerable strain on the machine. That, coupled with the fact that espers were essentially an Academy City-exclusive...

"...Oi. Don't tell me... You're not one of those magic-using crazies, right?"
It would make perfect sense, of course, after what happened with Othinus and that weird mummy-thing he saw blasting down the street chasing after that spiky-haired idiot and the Number 3 the other day. Even though Touma had resolved those issues, the fact remained that there could be residual efforts to take the city down... Which would more or less spell disaster for the world. Would they be trying to lessen the city's defenses by taking him out of the picture? If so, then what of the other Level 5s? Imagine Breaker?
But, once again, that was all dependent on how hostile these forces ended up being. Jumping to conclusions would only cause trouble. But if his assumptions proved to be correct...
"And... Do you have any intention of taking down Academy City?"

That tense moment, however, was interrupted by Last Order seemingly dragging another random person into the mess--a blue-haired individual in... Well, it seemed to be more cosplay. Pausing to look at the girls for a moment, Accelerator sighed and massaged his forehead.

"Last Order? Why did you...?"
"'Misaka saw this person climb up from the edge of the roof and offered to help, so Misaka brought her over here!' says Misaka as Misaka directs the blue-haired lady to Accelerator."

There was a moment of silence before Accelerator began speaking again.

"Climbing up this many stories isn't within the realm of normal human abilities, and I use the term 'normal' in the most basic sense of the word. I can only assume that you're magicians, at the very least. So let me make this clear: you mess with Last Order, you die. Understand?"

"'But Misaka doesn't think that they're bad people!' says Misaka as Misaka runs over and tugs at Accelerator's jacket."

But Accelerator remained there, gripping his cane tightly as he prepared for the worst. A two-on-one while protecting Last Order was highly disadvantageous for him, but if he managed to disable one of them quickly enough...
