Are looks subjective? yes
Does Personality matter? yes

But does that mean that giving advice based on this isolated fact in a world where there are obvious patterns and trends in the way we perceive beauty a good Idea? HELL NO

Yes everyone likes different things, some women like men who stink. does that mean we tell men to stop showering JUST IN CASE, no.
You have to generalise to be practical, and its ridiculous to fool ourselves thinking everything is this perfect swirling blossom of different opinions and tastes.....THERE ARE SOME HARD TRUTHS

Most women are going to prefer a guy taller than them
Most women are going to prefer a guy somewhere close to their age usually not younger though
Most women like men who dont shit thier pants during the 3rd date and then try and clean it up with the tablecloth...

do you get the point? We have to generlise for somethings to give good advice!

And this everyone is attractive to someone thing as well, THANK YOU FOR THAT TECHNICAL POSSIBILITY

Yes its technically possible, that there are women out there who find this man absolutely irresistable


but I have a strange intuition that maybe this guy is going to rank slightly higher on general scale

And rants are, as we all know, the gift that keeps on giving.

As a fellow who's discussed girls with fellow fellows in the privacy of social gatherings and elsewhere, one thing I dislike is how people's tastes are suddenly so subject to change all depending on context. It happens with other things, sure, but I find this particular phenomenon particularly irking because it insults actual people.

See, if what Dude A, Dude B and Dude C say in private is to be believed, then they have absolutely no problem with heavier women, and kind of like them. Dude C even says he used to have a thing for Adele ("used to" as in "before that one album where she was much thinner than usual"). Except, in Health class one day, when we were watching a documentary about (of all fucking things) eating disorders, A, B, and C felt inclined to (out loud) express how gross it was with "ugh" "ew" and other such grunts after plus-sized models were shown. (Most of which were ironically Adele-sized)

Now, I can understand that the Dudes may feel the need to hide their preferences, since liking big ladies isn't something guys normally do. But seriously? Do you really need to express your faux disgust at this, especially after a whole section on Anorexia that played out more like a horror movie than an educational film?

Now, there were girls in the room who could've heard that, (Two of which I know to be very insecure about their appearance) and had they not been quietly whispering in our back corner of the room, they could have done some serious damage. Hell, there were some girls there that were probably their type who would have considered them off the table, dating-wise, because obviously they think chubby is gross.

And for what, really? This is Wisconsin. In the winter. In a high school with about 4 gay couples out and proud and another guy who'll be quick to add in that he's a lightcore masochist, and even an out-of-the-closet Brony,(And I mean that kind of Brony) because why the hell not? Nobody gives them any honest-to-god shit about their sexualities, so don't they trust Dude D and Dude E to be bros about it? I mean, sure, they might get a little well-intentioned ribbing here and there, and they'd probably be okay with that, given that I've been harassing them in a tongue-in-cheek manner about everything for years now, and that's kinda their sense of humor anyway.

I dunno. I guess I can see why they'd still be kinda iffy about saying that, but honestly, I feel like they maybe wouldn't be so potentially hurtful to some people and they maybe wouldn't have to complain every other day about not having a girlfriend if they let those walls come down. Sheesh.

Thanks for the condescending, snarky, yet informative post, I'm sure plenty people on the internet will think you are cooler than me now, Congratulations.

You've made some valid points, and I am Inclined to agree with you on the three dudes being insecure about their dating preferences, this is a massive problem with men in general. Women maybe picky and shallow but they have the balls to run with what they want. Men are insecure little dweebs who love to spout a rant about bringing back the 'Alpha Male' and 'Masculinity' but they cant walk the walk, they are mostly followers and will follow the social convention to act disgusted at fat girls, even if they are in fact attracted to them, unacceptable.

But there are some points about generalising which I also covered in that same post as the above one (aren't I great) and here I'ill even put it in the hider so you wont hurt your scrolling finger....

I do understand that men don't have it easy, but the judging goes both ways. For example: if a woman were to approach a guy and express interest, she will most probably be considered desperate, fast or easy. As for the whole 'guy is expected to pay for dates, gifts and such', that can sometimes be because the guy is too proud to let a girl pay for things. I'm the kind to spoil my boyfriend with gifts and pay for everything on dates, but I've found myself with guys who refuse for me to do so because they don't feel comfortable with it. So, in my opinion, it's something that depends from person to person. :)
