The Tale

Set in between the timeline of Soul Calibur 2 and 3, the world is very much still under the tyranny of the evil of man's souls. Wars are launched for almost no reason, reports of evil sorcery begin to prop up in holy establishments, and greed begins to sweep the land, crippling solid economies and the balance of power tipped to those who seek to undo civilization. The elephant in the room is Soul Edge a weapon of amazing power that grants the wishes of men in the most malicious of ways. The last major conflict saw many powerful warriors from around the world both seek soul edge and also the means to the destroy it with the mythical weapon theSoul Calibur. Seigfried the main wielder of most of the soul edge was able to distance himself from the weapon and regain his humanity but now rumors of the blade re-emerging have surfaced. Which brings us to our current story.
The Lakeside Coliseum which was a popular spot for fighting during the last major conflict has now decided to host an official tournament, the winner will receive a large sum of gold and the likes but the real reward is that with all those powerful fighters collected in one place, there is bound to be key information on the current location of the soul edge and the soul calibur, how you go about obtaining that information is up to you......

The Gameplay
-Soul Calibur: Crossed Fates will be a duel based RP set in the timeline between 2-3.
-All your characters will be original (though ties to established characters will mostly be allowed).
-Your primary objective will be to seek out the tournament (which is being held in rome)
-The game has very loose time flow, although you will all be at the tournament on the same day, some of you may spend weeks on a ferry while others might be training for an afternoon, I am granting major flexibility with how much time goes by. Ergo, your posts wont all start on the same canonical day.
The 'Crossed Fates' is actually a game mechanic set by me, no matter what your characters are doing, I will occasionally create a bit of a Deus Ex Machina to put 2 of your characters in a fight/duel this will not be to the death and you can still fight outside of 'Crossed Fates' but these encounters will be similar to 'destined battles' or 'you have a new challenger' Vs matches and they will grant rewards and major plot advancements.
-When creating your character remember that this is the 16th century (1590 AD) so you will be using weapons and armor appropriate to that time, I will allow minor uses of magic (an enchanted sword maybe) but this is first and foremost a weapon fighting game.
-The whole world is the 'Map' for this game, some of you may start off in china, and others in the celtic region but you are all heading to the same place, this means for some consideration of how you will get places (by ship usually) and what regions that journey would take you through.
-Combat is handled as it is in the Arena, no god modding or auto hitting, the only person who can auto hit is the GM and that would be for story driven purposes.
-I expect a level of commitment to posting, this will be an active RP and I would like to see everyone involved, there will be no strict posting order or time skips so feel free to interact fairly liberally with the story as you go.
