The Deadly 8

Who Are The Deadly 8?
I think the more useful question would be who were the deadly 8, considering all of them are deceased. By any conventional standards none of them actually exist. But I'm guessing you are the type who doesn't fall for this answer anymore. In short they are group of very powerful assasins. Said to be so good that they often kill their targets more than once, so they dont make a nasty habit of coming back.

What do they do?
What all assasins do, kill for money. Except because of them being not of the mortal world anymore, regular currency is no good to them, instead they are paid with memories something that is very valuable to those who have passed on, especially if its been a long time. Memories to an fallen being are stronger than any drug, the ability to recall times from their former life and experince them in small doses if only for a short period of time. But the cost of such rewards is very high, these asassins only take jobs of the more supernatural nature.

What's that picture of the room?
Oh well thats where you will find 7 of the 8 at any time. This might be hard to explain, but they actually all share one body, the Deadly 8 are simply all just spirit personas and can only inhabit their collective vessel one at a time. Meanwhile the other 7 relax in the 'Penthouse' which is actually a form of limbo that is just outside of the afterlife. The spirits get to enjoy expensive cocktails and jazz music while whoever is in the living vessel does all the work. They will 'swap' in and out depending on who is most useful for the situation. Terribly interesting stuff.

What are their powers?
Apart from being very skilled killers? Not much actually, you wont see too many supernatural feats from these assasins, they are very much tied to their human way of doing things. But they have the ability to kill/seal away undead spirits and etheral entities using their weapons. They are each equippied with some sort of firearm and a melee weapon. These have ability to stun, damage and ultimately kill anyone and anything of any plane of existance, but only when used together in combination.

What is their next mission?

Her Adventure

Name: Marina Corvin

Age: 19

Method and Year of Death: Starved to death in 1988

Marina was the second oldest child of the 5 Corvin girls, and was the most imaginative. Although racism was becoming far less of a in the late 80s than it was during Calvin's time, being a Half Japanese Half Jewish Adoptee isnt an easy start for anyone in suburban Rhode Island. Marina knew she was an outcast and instead found beauty and solace in her books. Where she could truly escape the lonliness she endured in real life. Although this began as obsessive reading, she then began to act out her fantasies and would dress up like a gothic maiden and run through the forest, singing beatuifully about her fictional world, completely immeresed in her own world.

Unfortunately once she was spotted by some teenagers from her class while they were out drinking and getting high, and they started to make fun of her, first with words but then with rocks and thrown garbage. Her perfect world of escapism was shattered, so she ran as fast as she could, deeper into the forest than she had ever been. Until she tripped on a large tree root in the middle of the forest and it sent her hurtling into a natural ditch. The space looked like some sort of fantasy cave complete with pillar like rocks and a very beautiful canopy. Sadly the fall broke her leg, and the ditch was very deep. She wasn't able to make it out of there and over the span of 8 agonising days she starved to death, quietly singing the song of her fantasy world as she passed away,

Ressurected she now follows runaway teenagers, to make sure wherever they go, they are never found again.

Ahh yes that looks about right, I probably thought they'd be even bigger. But lets go with 80 feet.

@Dynamo Frokane These mechs are all around 80 feet tall? That seems kind of extreme to me. How do you even board one? That would take ages.

Its about what I had envisioned, thats just a little bit bigger than a Gundam. I would assume there would be some sort of elevator inside the mech, or maybe like in titan fall, the mech can pick you up and put you inside the cockpit.

How big is the battlefield?

Do you have stats for the Flank Thunders?

Ahh I'm REALLY bad with metric measurements even with human sized fields. So scaling it up to Mech size makes it even more difficult.

If we say roughly that each mech is about 80 feet tall, then the area would be around the equivelent of a football field to a Mecha.

No direct stats on the FlankThunders but as heavily armoured Early Models, they are tough and built for firefights but not particularly agile or good in the air.

Chapter 1: Fight the O'Brian Brothers!

The air was cool and clear. Birds, fluttured off the fences and near towards the forest, some of the military staff quickly rushed inside, but there was no panic, this was a normal routine. Once again the training ground would host an exhibition match. 4 Large Blue Early Mk2 mechs from the 'FlankThunder' series awaited the garage doors of the mech door to open, they were piloted by 4 brothers (from youngest to oldest) Dill, Mickey, Jerome and Parker. The Mechs were all a slightly different shade of blue, with the oldest having a dark blue paint, getting lighter towards the youngest who was a sky blue coat. They all seemed to be armed with the same weapons, a Carbine style assualt rifle and a mid length lance type weapon.

Parker:
Okay kids, stay frosty, yall know whats at stake here, we cant afford to fuck around and get our asses kicked out here.

Mickey:
Fuck that, I'm gonna tin-can these military hogs, yall here some of em are frontier? I never thought I'd be so lucky.

Dill:
You mean we gonna get to fight a couple Cold-Fingers from the north? This is gonna be the best damn away game weve played!

Jerome:
Just keep your head screwed on kiddo, you know these guys have been picked for a reason, just play tight and remember our training, I want this overwith. Ready?

All 4 Mechs adopted battle stances as the the garage door began its unlocking mechanism. They were all the way on the other end of the battlefield.

Throwdown Theme!

The Garage doors were now open, the O'Brian brothers decided to send Dill and Jerome charging forward straight down the middle, while Parker took off in the air for an elevaated view, finally Mickey began to race to the left to try and catch the flank.

The field was covered with large empty ammo crates and discarded Tanks which were perfect for cover, and the brothers were going to use that to their advantage.

The Sheriff looked back and forth between the somewhat squabbling pilots, he expected there to be a smoothing out period where they learned to work together, but he offered his answer to Nate's question while the were still speaking.

The Marking has been described as a bird symbol, but no one out in the field thought to get a picture, this is what I mean about having a bunch of rookies and idiots in this guild, its difficult to gather intelligence when no one on your team is intelligent. You're just going to have to investigate for yourself, now as you are aware your fellow pilots are currently in our training area outside having a match against four other pilots. As much as I'd love for us all to watch and cheer them on, I'm afraid youll have to go on ahead. You see not just anyone can access the helen tower, you need a permit. But since this western coalition has just been disbanded we cant get one through our regular means. You'll have to obtain one off a security official in the town of Barker not too far from here. The Sheriff began to walk with them towards the side door which lead to the front entrance where their 3 mechs had been moved, it was clear he wanted them to leave immediately.



Now this operation will require some diplomacy, the town is just along this road, but a lot of the local folk arent always trusting of the guild, especially when we want something, thats why it makes sense for only 3 of you to go along, it will look less threatening. If you follow this path at a steady pace you should be there and back within a couple hours. Try and use discretion. Good Luck Pilots.
